Multiverse adventure why not

I own nothing

As I stared at the wheel I began to ponder how it worked there wasn't a lever or a button it was just a plain spin wheel…"Should I just spin it?"

The text box spawned in front of the wheel.

"Yes it is, as you said, a simple spin wheel, grab a peg and push."

Really…this seems…low tech for a multiversal power.

A chill trickles down my spine and the textbox reappears and somehow the text seems more scathing even though the text has only changed slightly.

"You have no right to tell me what is and is not appropriate for things like this, you half brain dead, dead weight, now if you would so kindly SPIN THE WHEEL."

With panicked energy I tug on the wheel making sure to pull my hand away before my hand gets caught.

The wheel whirls and whirls…it's…it's not stopping.

It has been spinning for a while now and has not slowed in the slightest, I think I pissed off my new acquaintance, after a moment of hesitation I make a grab at the wheel but I am stopped by an invisible force and promptly gave up instead deciding to sit and wait for the wheel.

After some time the wheel has finally begun to slow some of the words are visible if I focus waiting for it to finally come to a stop…I think I want to break the pegs off the wheel it's starting to get to me.

I can almost feel the tears of relief in my eyes as the wheel finally comes to a stop on Invader Zim.

However before I can cheer in joy a new screen appears.

Character creation

Race: Human or Irken

The only real downside to the irken were the looks I don't really care for the green skin…or the lack of a nose and ears but cosmetics can be taken care of with enough time.

The level of tech and knowledge would also be useful so…one button press later and my race has been selected.

I can barely restrain my flinch as the text box returns.

"Yeah you have picked your race but due to your incompetence your character will be auto designed."

"…why are you suddenly so pissy?" the words slip from me almost without thought and I freeze and I feel dread wash over my being as the textbox changes.

"You…You…are right my player is being a dick about something I was wrong about and is rubbing my face in it…"

"Oh…sorry then." I reply unsure how to respond to the apparent issues between the system and its original user "How long will it take to make the body?"

"Hmm…oh that it has already been made I was just distracted for a moment…but before you slip into your new body there is another matter to take care of, the traits and flaws draw as well as some previous skill recovery."

"Oh, I had skills?" I ask slightly confused before I got the feeling that I was being stared at like I was an idiot…which for all I knew I was.

"…Yes, now give me a moment."

Recovering lost skills…

Recovering…

Recovering…

Skills recovered...

Occult practices LV 5

Allows the user to practice the Occult with the likelihood of success increasing with the level

Study LV 20

The user's ability to study and retain the information studied capabilities increase with level

Dissection/vivisection LV 30

The user's ability to dissect a given animal or thing capability increases with level

"Only three…and why is that third one so high?" I ask the void.

"The rest of your skills were low or common enough to not worry about and you were…slightly sociopathic when you were alive, just enough to have a superiority complex and difficulty being em/sympathetic…and you usually ended up dissecting an animal that bugged you."

"Ah…well do I still suffer from that?" I ask immediately a bit uncomfortable.

"No…your stint in the void has essentially wiped out your memories and most of your personality so the usual mind wipe isn't required."

"Well that's…good I guess now what about the traits and flaws thing?" I ask pushing the conversation onwards the textbox blinked and changed.

Traits and Flaws draw

Would you like to draw (Yes) (No)

I hit Yes and am immediately rewarded with a new screen.

Trait gained

[Prodigal scientist]

All matters of science are easily understood by you

All classes/skills related to science level up 2X faster

Flaw gained

[Fixation]

You become fixated easily, some fixations will fade and others will not

All classes/skill exp gains that are not related to your fixation(s) will be halved.

"You know what that doesn't seem so bad." As I speak the trait and flaw vanish simply leaving a box.

Again?

(Yes) (No)

You know what I have the overwhelming feeling that this is going to end poorly but I am curious so…again.

Trait gained

[Adaptable]

You know doomsday? "...wait shit no you don't fuck ok I can work with this." your body is adaptable given time your body will overcome any difficulties

Skills relating to resistances develop/increase rapidly

Flaw gained

[Monstrous attraction]

You attract monstrous beings, be it mind or body, to your person as if you were a lure

You attract monstrous beings but the nature of that attraction can vary between said beings rendering stealth useless

Again?

(Yes) (No)

I think that's enough for now so I press no and the screen changes.

The countdown was incredibly quick not even giving me the chance to speak up however between the one blink I manage to slip in and my eyes actually opening my entire body seems to shift and shrink.

As my eyes open a new screen fills up my view.

After a moment to look at my now small green three fingered hands I do as I was asked.

Hmm that seems oddly…out of balance however before I can do anything else two sharp pains stab through my back and as the object that stabbed me is removed from my back something else is put in the fresh holes.

I turn immediately trying to find my attacker only to get an electric shock to the face.

As I spasm to the floor a pop up appears.

You have gained Minor Electric resistance

You have gained a PAK, physical stats and INT raised by five

Huh…well that's…nice while gritting my teeth.

As I finally manage to stand a new box opens I take a moment to look at it.

Name yourself: _ _ _ _ _ _ _

With a frown I begin to ponder a name…what the hell should I call myself.

It needs to be simple and easy to remember so it's got to be short…fuck it "System can you name me?"

"…Ok?"

Name yourself: _ Nergal _

"That sounds like a cool name thanks does it mean anything?" I ask reading over it before the box vanishes.

"Nergal was a Mesopotamian god of pestilence and war."

"Oh…guess I got some big shoes to fill then huh?" I said jokingly before pausing "…Now what?"

A new box appears.

Follow the signs to the smeet care center

Objective: read above

Reward: progression of plot

Failure: termination due to being deemed defective

I immediately began looking for a sign promptly found a massive glowing sign in the shape of an arrow pointing down the tunnel.

As I begin moving down the tunnel I see another smeet being 'born'.

The mechanical arms pull a massive tube from the wall once a smiley face appears and then cracks it in two like an egg, the smeet the flop down but unlike me it seemingly isn't awake.

I couldn't stop myself from blinking as the smeet is stabbed in the back but again there is no reaction at all even after the pak is inserted, it's only after the shock that it moves at all.

I can't help but slow my pace a little to watch this fresh smeet throw itself at the arm, I am a bit too far to hear it if it has said anything but the look on its face suggests love?

A moment later the arm violently shakes the smeet off it before retracting quickly into the ceiling.

"Do not approach that smeet, do not greet it, do not interact with it at all if you can."

It takes me a moment to register the text that popped up in front of me but once I do I pick up my pace again.

"Why should I avoid that one?" I ask the system.

"That smeet is Zim the main character of the original series and he is something to be avoided at all costs if you wish to have even a bit of success…actually."

Kill or break Zim

Objective: Kill or break Zim from his chaotic path before he can damage your progress

Reward (Kill): 100 EXP, 50 dollars

Reward (Break): 100 EXP, 50 dollars, Irken Slave

Failure: Future progress slowed and increased chances of death until Zim is sent to earth

"Huh…ok then..." I say as I finish reading the text.

May as well hurry over to the care center
