The Missing Sun
Chapter One
The once clear blue sky now held a gray tint. The clouds grew dark as a rumble vibrated among them. In the city, many people were carrying umbrellas. Fearing that it might rain, but a chilling breeze only greeted them.
Sitting in a coffee shop sipping on some herbal green tea, Artemis sighed. Glancing outside only made her worry, for it was supposed to be summer. The sun should shine as everyone would walk around in shorts and tee shirts while planning to go to the beach or some other social gathering. But it looked as if they were in the middle of fall. Everyone had on jackets and was carrying umbrellas. She even spotted some people using hand warmers. Shaking her head in disbelief, Artemis sighed once more.
"Brother where are you,"
Moments after she thought those words, a rumble could be heard across the sky. It even shook the building, causing the lights to flicker. Soon another rumble even louder than before shook build along with many others as the car alarms echoed throughout the sky. It didn't take her long to figure out who was causing such an uproar, for he always loves to make an entrance.
Taking a sip from her cup, Artemis looked up into a familiar pair of electric blue eyes, and raven black haired male wearing a blue pinstriped suit sitting across the table. Setting down her cup, she took a long deep breath well this couldn't be good; she thought.
"Father," Artemis said.
"Artemis," Zeus said.
The two stared at each other for a while. Artemis respected her father, but he never came to see her or Apollo unless something was wrong. Just then, her eyes widened when a thought crossed her mind.
"Where is brother?"
"Gone," Zeus replied.
"What do you mean gone," Artemis said.
"He's not in his mansion, temples, or shrines. I even went to the beach in Italy that he loves to go to and he wasn't there either," Zeus said.
Hearing this sent a wave of sadness and anger through Artemis. Perhaps brother was playing one of his games. He always liked to irritate father yet somehow this felt different.
Artemis noticed her father's eyes flicker as he balled up his fists. Even his black hair gave off a slight electrical charge. Oh, dear, this wasn't good the last time he lost his temper he almost wiped New Zealand off the map. Laying her hands over her father, Zeus sighed. Soon The lights no longer flickered, but his eyes still held a charge.
"Don't worry, I will find him," Artemis said.
Zeus nodded as he laid his other hand over Artemis's.
"I know you will, but be careful, for whatever happened to Apollo can also happen to you," Zeus said.
Another rumbled echoed throughout the sky and the moment a lightning bolt hit the ground, Zeus was gone. Now sitting alone, Artemis took one last sip from her cup. She rose to her feet and stared at the door. She meant when she said that she would find her brother, but she did not know where to start.
Wiping down a table near the exit was a woman with short black hair. She watched as Artemis walked out the door. Once she was no longer in sight, she pulled out her cell phone and dialed a number. After a few moments, she held her phone up to her ear.
"Hey it's me, I think we've got a problem."
