He wondered what she meant when she told her that she did it, but wasn't going to question it when she laid her head on his shoulder. He just wished Ladybug would return his feelings, but still had hope that she would someday. He was out patrolling the area and clearing his mind at the same time when he, once again, noticed Marinette on her balcony. They started talking and she seemed a little worried about something. If only he knew what it was.
They stayed up for awhile before he went home and transformed back. He gave Plagg some cheese and got ready for bed, falling asleep quickly and woke up the next morning. He got ready for school as he thought about everything he had to do after that. "Photoshoot is postponed since it's going to rain outside." Nathalie said as he nodded before she left. He finished eating and went to school.
When he arrived, Marinette was talking to Alya about the homework assignment from the night before when it changed to Adrien himself even though he couldn't hear them yet.
"He's right there; go talk to him." Alya said, nodding to the teen model, who was talking to Nino. "I have some other things to deal with." She replied, but Alya pushed her best friend into her crush. He caught her in his arms and steadied her so she wouldn't fall. "Sorry." She replied.
"It's cool. What's up?" He asked, smiling at her.
"I, uh, kind of wanted to talk to you about something, but it can wait." Marinette noticed Alya shaking her head from the corner of her eye.
"Is everything okay?" The blond asked, concerned since they are friends.
"Yeah." She smiled. "It's not important right now though since we have class." She walked back over to her friend. "You still didn't tell him?" Marinette shook her head. "No. It didn't feel like the right time." She replied, remembering Bunnyx's words-after she fixed the alternate timeline by making sure it would never happen-about there being a time for everything because time is a fragile thing.

Later that night, Marinette's homework was done and she finished working on her design. It wasn't easy with the alternate timeline going through her head.
"It was our love that did this to the world, m'lady." Cat Blanc repeated in her head. She went up to the balcony and sighed, leaning against the railing with tears about to fall.
"I can't hurt him, but I don't know how to tell him either." She replied to herself and closed her eyes.
"That's another reason why we can't be together." She shook her head, seeing Blanc'a cold and icy blue eyes staring at her with a smile while her hand was on his chest, feeling his broken heart beating underneath it.
"Here, but it's already broken." He replied, looking at her before she fought him and he fell to the ground. She ran to the edge of the building and he followed jumping off it after her as she landed safely below. "Now you're breaking more than my heart." He said, with anger in his voice as he jumped off it too before he also landed and walked over to her.
She shook her head of that thought, but those memories continued going through her head along with Blanc saying, "the simple truth is you don't love me anymore," a mega cataclysm appeared in his hand. "so I might as well destroy you, me, our memories, everything!" He yelled, angry as the white light grew stronger.
"No!" She shouted, shaking her head as she was brought back to reality. "It would make him feel horrible when he doesn't need to be since I fixed everything. He can never know." She frowned as the tears fell. Deep down, she knew it wouldn't happen because she changed the future and saved everyone without them-except herself and Bunnyx-knowing about it, but it still hurt her seeing him like that and she didn't want him to go through the same thing.
She wiped them away and sighed, looking up at the stars. Her kwami flew over to her. "Tikki, spots on." She replied, wanting to be early for her patrol over the city.
She transformed into Ladybug and then headed to the main meeting spot. She used her yo-yo to get there and sat down with one leg over the edge while her left one was pulled up and her arm was resting on it. She wanted to keep her thoughts together, but couldn't.
No matter what she did, her fighting partner's akumatized form wouldn't stop haunting her. His cold and sometimes emotionless eyes made her want to scream or forget about the whole thing. If it was this bad for her, then imagine how bad it would be if Cat Noir himself found out about it.
She didn't want to worry him with all this, which is why she's trying to protect him. Bunnyx did say that there's a time for everything and it was fragile. She sighed and pulled her other leg up to her chest.
She was a little early and since no one was around, tears fell down her face and she was happy he wasn't there right now. She didn't want him to see her like this since that timeline didn't exist at all. He's always been overprotective. Why was it bothering her so much?
Because you care about him and don't want anything bad to happen, she thought to herself as she wiped her tears away and tried to control her emotions.
"I'm not going to put him through that." She told herself before she sighed and continued looking out into the distance for a few more minutes.
"Hey, bugaboo." She heard from behind her.
"Hey, Kitty." She replied as the memory of Blanc telling her to save him went through her head before she wiped away his tear and said, "my poor Kitty." She shook those thoughts off.
"How long have you been here?" He sat next to her.
"Not long. Just figuring out why there hasn't been an attack in the past day or two." She replied, hating lying to him. There was an akuma attack, but that was the alternate timeline. She just didn't want that to happen and had to figure out what exactly caused it.
"I don't know."
"I'm just going to enjoy it." She replied, forcing a smile without looking at him. "Me too. You're pawesome." He smiled at her. She laughed and looked at him.
"You're still trying to flirt with me?"
"What made you think I wouldn't?" He smirked and raised an eyebrow.
"You know it's not going to work." She replied, not wanting to hurt him more than she already did.
"I'm not giving up."
"I know you wouldn't."
"Never have, never will." He promised.
"It was our love that did this to the world, M'lady." Blanc repeated in her head. It was loud and clear as if she was back in that alternate timeline and was looking at what happened with the white akumatized version in front of her.
"You're the only one for me and I will wait forever if I have to." The hero in black replied next to her. "I'm just happy you're still in my life, even if we are just friends and partners."
"Nothing will change that." She said, smiling, looked at him. "We have to find out what Hawkmoth is up to and who he is." She replied, desperately wanting to change the subject.
"We will. Don't worry." His hand was on her shoulder and she felt some comfort but couldn't stop thinking about his alternate self from a different timeline, so it scared her too. It's been running through her head over and over again since she saw him the first time and she didn't think it would stop anytime soon.
She nodded and gave her partner a kiss on the cheek, hoping that it would ease some of his heartbreak. The teen smiled and Ladybug returned it. Since they weren't fighting any akumas, they didn't have to leave within 5 minutes like they normally would have.
Ladybug continued staring off into the distance, but felt his eyes on her. Don't worry, she reminded herself, it's Cat Noir instead of...him. Nothing to worry about. She closed her eyes and tried calming herself down. He's okay and not akumatized, Totally safe.
Still, she had to do something to figure it out since she was so confused. What happened that akumatized him? How long has he been that way? He did say that he thought he lost me, but why would he think that I was gone? Why did he believe I didn't love him? Would he really believe that if we dated and then broke up? Did we date at all in that timeline or was he akumatized because i rejected him? He did say that I didn't love him anymore, so I must have broken up with him or something. This is why we can't work out as a romantic couple because it's dangerous, especially if we did end up dating and Hawkmoth found out.
"Things were purrfect until hawkmoth found out about everything. Once the cat is out of the bag, it's only a matter of time til everyone knows." Blanc replied and she looked away, turning to the damage. "It was our love that did this to the world, milady." That was one of the things he said that ran through her mind as a broken record, over and over again.
The question was, how? If their love destroyed Paris and everything else they cared about, then what exactly caused it?
So many questions raced through her head, but she shook those thoughts off. What was the point in saying anything to her fighting partner if that timeline was erased? In her opinion, there wasn't and it didn't matter since everything was how it should be.
The only thing explanation she could think of was alternate her breaking up with him before he was akumatized. She just had to figure out how and who Hawkmoth is.
I promise, Cat Noir, I will find out. She thought to herself as she looked at him before turning away.
