At Hollywood Arts, 16-year-old Robbie was getting books out of his locker till he saw his crush Cat Valentine chatting with their friend Tori. It looked like Cat was telling her some kind of story about her brother doing another odd thing. Robbie always loved Cat's stories even though they were either eccentric or just not funny at all. Robbie also was beginning to have feelings for the naive redhead of Hollywood Arts ever since he wrote that song for her but she sadly didn't return his feelings. Even when Jade and Beck got together, she still didn't. He really thought they were gonna happen at the luau but Cat decided not to just yet. A whole week passed and Cat still didn't wanna date Robbie. Robbie couldn't help but feel sad or dejected whenever Cat was talking to a cute guy. What did they have that Robbie didn't? Was it their looks, their athletic abilities, their brains? Whatever it was, Robbie knew he couldn't compete on any one of those pros. He was the shy, quiet and awkward nerd with a puppet for a best friend. No wonder any girl wanted to dated him anyway. Robbie watched as two of his other friends Beck and Jade went over to Tori and Cat with Beck's arm around Jade as they talked. Why couldn't he be like Beck? Hot, laid back and confident personality? Problem was he couldn't. Robbie saw Beck and Jade steal a kiss as they listened to Cat's story. Robbie rolled his eyes. He knew they got back together recently but did they need to display it half the time? Robbie focused back on Cat giggling and talking. He looked at her beauty and knew then he had to tell her. That he still had feelings for her. He may get rejected or he may not this time. Robbie kept that other thought implanted in his head and waited till Tori walked away, Beck kissed Jade passionately and then left. Jade and Cat talked some more then Jade soon left. Robbie made sure it was only the two of them then he went over to Cat. He was gonna tell her. No holding back. He was gonna tell her how he really felt this time. Robbie kept walking over to Cat and took a deep breath till another hot guy again went up to Cat.
"Hey Cat." The boy greeted.
"Hi-hi." Cat greeted, smiling.
"That's a really hot top." The boy said, pointing to Cat's shirt.
"Oh, it's really cool, actually." Cat said, frowning.
"Yeah...It's that too. So, um, if you're not doing anything after school, wanna go to Karaoke Dokie with me tonight?" The boy asked.
"Kay-kay." Cat said, nodding.
"Great. Pick you up at 8?" The boy asked, giving Cat his address.
"Be here." Cat replied, giving back the phone.
"Cool." The boy said, walking away.
Robbie made sure the boy was gone and then went to get Cat's attention again but then another good-looking boy approached her. Seriously, can't the guys just go to Tori today like they always do? Robbie thought, shaking his head in disbelief. The two talked till the boy saw Robbie.
"Oh, hey Robbie." The boy said, waving.
"Hey Max." Robbie replied, putting on a fake smile, also waving.
"Cat just agreed to go out for sushi with me at The Nozu tomorrow." The boy said, smiling.
"Yeah..." Cat said, giggling.
"So nice to hear bye." Robbie said, now impatiently, shooing the boy off.
"See you later Cat." The boy said, walking away.
"Bye Mac." Cat said, waving.
"It's Max but Mac sounds like a pretty sweet nickname. See ya."
Robbie made sure no other guys or any other people were moving towards them then he finally got Cat's attention.
"Hey Robbie."
"Hi Cat."
"You wanted to talk about something?" Cat asked, tucking her hair behind her ear.
"Yeah...Listen Cat...I know we agreed to only be friends after we kissed at the luau but I don't wanna stay just friends, I know you don't feel that way towards me and I understand that, really I do, but truth is, I still have..."
The bell suddenly rang and Cat gathered her books out of her locker and turned to Robbie.
"We gotta get to Sikowitz. We'll talk then." Cat said, walking away.
"Right."
Cat went to class as Robbie watched her and sighed. Another misfire at telling his crush. Robbie could really only hope that he and Cat would get alone time again.
In Sikowitz's class, Sikowitz was teaching some kind of acting method. Robbie saw Cat listening intently but then fiddling with her stuffed panda only seconds later. Robbie chuckled and then texted Cat. Cat heard her phone go off and she read the text from Robbie.
-Meet me back at the lockers after Sikowitz's class
-Robbie
Cat looked over at Robbie and Robbie noticed something change in Cat's face. She was frowning and looked a little bit hesitant. Was she not gonna show up?
After Sikowitz's class, Robbie waited at the lockers for Cat, it looked like he was right when Cat didn't show up for awhile till he finally saw her and she walked over to him.
"Hi."
"Hi."
"You wanted to hang out here to tell me something?" Cat asked, leaning against a locker.
"Yeah...Cat...After the luau and we agreed to stay friends, something kept nagging at me and I realized that I...well...I still have those feelings for you. I still really like you Cat. I know you don't feel the same and if you don't return my feelings, I'll understand, I just wanted ya to know." Robbie said, shrugging.
"Robbie..." Cat said, looking up.
Robbie smiled. She was smiling back. Cat moved over to him and touched his shoulder. Things were looking good so far.
"I...I do like you...But only as a friend, okay? I'm still not ready for us to date yet. I'm sorry." Cat said, frowning.
"No, it's okay. Totally get it. Things would be awkward since we did only kiss a week ago. You need more time." Robbie said, smiling.
"You understand?" Cat asked, hopefully.
"Yeah."
"Good. Cause I think I actually may have feelings for Max already." Cat said, grabbing her backpack.
"Oh. Oh. Well. Um. Great. He's a really nice guy and really sweet. You guys definitely deserve each other." Robbie said, nodding.
"We do?"
"Uh-huh. And maybe if things don't work for you two in the end and you change your mind about who you wanna date and it's me, I'd be down with it."
"Thanks Robbie." Cat said, kissing Robbie's cheek.
"Anytime."
Cat skipped off to the next class as Robbie leaned his back against the lockers. Tears streamed down his cheeks. Of course Cat still wasn't ready and he stupidly believed she was. This was gonna take more time but he could wait. He'd always wait for his kitty-cat. But man was it hard sometimes. A lot of times.
