Today there are auditions for the show. I practiced all night last night, and I think I might get a good role. I'm not sure though. Whatever happens, happens. I walked to the auditorium, with my bag on my shoulder. When I got there, there were already a few people there. I walked and sat down in the third row, ready to take action. "Alright people! This is your time to shine! Gina, your turn." Miss Jenn said. A tall girl came up onto the stage and started singing. She was really good.
After a few minutes of Gina's audition, Miss Jenn called up Nini. Right as she was about to sing, the lights went down. We all gasped. "Um, Nini, the lights went down, so we're just gonna have to wait until they can get back up," Miss Jenn said. "No, no. I can do it, it's fine." Nini said. I heard a door open, and turned to my left. Ricky walked in. I was confused. "Ricky?" I questioned. He walked past me, and Big Red followed him. They sat down in the second row, right in front of me. "What are you doing here?" I whispered. "Auditioning." Ricky said. "You don't even sing." I said. "You don't know that," Ricky muttered. I sat back, and rolled my eyes.
We started to listen to Nini's audition. When she started to sing, Ricky got out his phone, turned on the flashlight, and walked up to the stage. He shined it on Nini. I smiled. Then, another dude walked up with his phone's flashlight turned on, and shined it on Nini. This made my smile drop. What's going on? I thought. Then, Nini started singing really, really well. "Whoa." I muttered. "I know right?" Kourtney, Nini's best friend, asked. "She's good." I said. "Mhm." she added.
After that, it was my turn, and the lights turned on. I suddenly became nervous. After Miss Jenn called my name, I slowly walked up to the stage's center. "Go ahead, Alex." Miss Jenn said. I nodded. "Under the glow of the very bright lights. I turn my face towards the warm night skies, and I am not afraid of a thousand eyes. When they're above, five-hundred smiles. Oh, I used to think. What wouldn't I give? For a moment like this? This moment is a gift, and now look at me and this opportunity, it's standing right in front of me. But one thing I know it's only part luck, and so, I'm putting on my best sho-o-ow, under the spotlight, I'm starting my life! Big dreams becoming real tonight. So look at me and this opportunity, you're witnessing my moment, you see?" I sang.
"And now I'm here, and it's ti-i-ime, 'cause this is real, this is real, and it's all mine. I'm not afraid, afraid to fly. When it's above, five-hundred smiles. Oh, I used to think. 'What wouldn't I give? For a moment like this?' This moment is gift! And now look at me and this opportunity, it's standing right in front of me, but one thing I know, it's only part luck, and so, I'm putting on my best show! Under the spotlight, I'm starting my life, big dreams becoming real tonight. So look at me, and this opportunity, you're witnessing my moment. You see? My big opportunity, I won't waste it….I guarantee." I finished. The room erupted with a few applause. I opened my eyes to shocked faces. "Thank you," I said, and got off the stage. "Whoa. Okay," Miss Jenn said.

"Miss Jenn is posting the Cast List!" Carlos stated, excitedly. We all rushed to where Miss Jenn was walking. After a second, she walked away, and left a green paper with names and characters on it. We all looked at it. I can't believe it. Ricky got Troy!? And I got...Kelsi Nieslen. Okay, not bad. Not bad. But still, Ricky got the main role!? I backed away as Ricky walked up. He looked just as shocked. "Nice job, Rick." I said. "Thanks sis." Ricky said, still shocked. As was I.
This is gonna be a long week.
