Shin' no Academy…
It has been at least a couple of months since both Itachi and Kisame had entered the academy. Itachi was in his classroom listening to the teacher on the subject, it reminded him of his days as a student at the ninja academy back in the leaf village. KIsame in on the other hand was quite bored; he did pay attention to the subject such as the history of Seireitei, or protocols of a Soul Reaper.
But, when it was class such as Hakuda, Hoho and his favorite Zanjutsu. Kisame was able to excel in these subjects with ease being able to beat everyone in class except for Itachi. The two of them were at equal levels in these classes, which caught the attention of their teachers and students. Kido was a different subject. Itachi was able to perform the spells without difficulty every time he learned a new spell, but Kisame on the other hand struggled on memorizing the cants.
"I don't get Itachi, Kido is somewhat similar to ninjutsu and yet I can hardly cast a 30 level Kido.", the two of them were sitting underneath a tree during their break. They would always sit under that certain tree during their free time, and have conversations about their day.
"Well you can't be accustomed to how things were before Kisame." Itachi was speaking to Kisame as he read a book, "I think you should stick with Zanjutsu training since it seems to be your strong suit.".
"MMMmmm. Itachi-san?", The Uchiha member looked up to see a female student from his class with a letter, "Please read this!". It was another love letter, his time at the Shin'no academy many female students have come to with love letters.
"Ha, ha, ha. Well aren't you popular Itachi. What is this? Your 7th one this day Kisame found it amusing that many girls would go on and confess to Itachi, "I wonder if you'll read this one?".
"Well you two seems to be adjusting to the academy well!", a voice called out to them, the two of them saw it was the purple hair captain, Captain Yoruichi, "It's been a while you too.".
"Captain Yoruichi. What a pleasant surprise.", Itachi put away his book and gave a smile to the Captain. Kisame just gave her a grin that showed his shark-like teeth, "Why are you here might I ask?'.
"Well you see some of the captains from the Gotei 13, want to see the two of you." Yoruichi told the two of them which surprised them, "they wish to meet the two first years causing a stir in the academy.".
"Oh, It is an honor to meet such a high level soul reaper.", Itachi was giving gratitude to the captain of squad 2.
"Hmm, It would be interesting to meet other captains, sure count me in." Kisame was interested in meeting others who bore the same rank as Yoruichi.
"I hope you don't plan to start a fight between them Kisame your barely communicating with your Zanpakuto." Itachi was warning Kisame, "They already reach bankai level.'.
"My Itachi. Don't you trust me enough that I'll be in my best behavior?`` Kisame joked with Itachi, who gave him a look of doubt. The two soul reapers in training made their way to Yoruichi and said that some of the captains were waiting for them.
"Okay here we are!" Yoruichi opens a pair of doors, and five different individuals wearing captain haoris, "Well everyone here the two i was talking about.".
"Oh So these are the two cause such a ruckus at the academy.", The first one to speak was a man with white hair in a ponytail style, "My name is Jushiro Ukitake. I am the captain of Squad 13.".
"My youngsters have approved these days." The next to speak was a man wearing a flowery kimono over his haori and a straw hat, "Allow me to introduce myself. I am Shunsui Kyoraku, the captain of Squad 8.".
"It is a pleasure in meeting the two of you." It was a woman wearing a long braid in front of her, "My name is Unohana Retsu. Captain of squad 4.".
"Hey what's up!", the last one was a man with blonde hair and strange teeth, "My name is Shinji Hiraka. The captain of squad 5, nice to meet you.".
"Hello, It is nice to meet the both of you." It was a man with spiky white hair, also having a tattoo of the number 69 on the chess, "I am Kensei Mugurama the captain of squad 9.".
Yoruichi looks around the room trying to find someone missing in the room, "Hey have you seen Kisuke? I invited him to a meeting where he is.".
"Oh, Kisuke said he was busy with something and couldn't come.", Shinji answered the captain of squad 2. Yoruichi couldn't help but sigh at Kisuke's action to continue with his study.
Itachi bowed to the captains in respect, "It is an honor meeting you all. My name is Itachi Uchiha.'.
"You're quite a polite young man." Unohana commented on Itachi's respect towards them, she then looked towards the shark like man, "You are..?".
"My name is Kisame Hoshigaki." He gave a grin to the captain of squad 4, "You are quite interesting Captain Restu.".
Retsu gave a glare to the shark like man, "Kisame, don't start something please. These are Captains of the Gotei 13, show them respect.".
"Calm down Itachi. I'm no fool." Kisame was reassuring Itachi that he was going to start something, "So might I ask you to wish to meet us?".
"Ahh, yes it seems by the end of your second year. The two of you will graduate from Shinano academy early. And we wish to see what squads you wish to enter in.", Ukitake went on to explain to the two of them, "Also offer some words of wisdom with your choice.".
"Yeah, and also make offers for you to join our squad.", Kensei added as well, "I see the two of you as great members for my squad.".
"Hey don't go push some crazy ideas off the bat Kensei." Shinji injected Kensei into conversation with the two of them, "Let's have a chat with them first.".
"Captain Hiraka is quite right. Why don't we have a drink and have some good food as well." Captain Shunsui added to the idea.
"Shunsui are you trying to have an excuse to have a drink?" Ukitake was guessing his friends' true intentions.
"You caught me!".
"I think that a great idea. These two were on their lunch break." Yoruichi agreed with the captain of squad 8, "I'll have some bring us some food.".

Everyone in the room was enjoying the meal that Yoruichi servants had. Prepare for all of them, "So Itachi I heard your pretty good at Kido." Shinji began to make small talk with the Uchiha member, "You even know spells at the 50th level.".
"Yes, I spend some of mine free time studying such spells." Itachi explained as he ate some rice, "I wish to be quite versatile in my way in fighting hollows.'.
"It's an excellent mentality to have Itachi." It was Ukitake who was speaking now, "I have a feeling that you'll become a capable soul reaper.".
"Thank you Captain Ukitake. It is an honor here such praise from someone of your ranking.", Itachi thanked the captain for his praise.
"You don't have to be so respectful to Itachi." Yoruichi spoke the shin' no student on his attitude, "But, it does feel nice to have someone with your talent still being humble before seniors.".
"I was taught at an early age to respect everyone with status or rank higher than mine with respect.", Itachi explained to the captains in the room.
"Your parents must be proud of raising a fine man such as yourself.", Unohana commented on Itachi's behavior. But, unknown to the Captain of squad 4, his parents were a sensitive topic for him and caused him to stiffen up a bit.
This was noticed by Yoruichi, "Are you alright there Itachi?".
"You have to excuse Itachi, Captain Yoruichi." It was Kisame speaking now, "Let's just say the subject of parents is something quite sensitive to him.'.
"Oh, Apologies Itachi. If I had known..".
"No worries Captain Unohana." Itachi got out of his state of stiffness, "And plus my parents were proud of how I grew up. Because I grew up becoming someone who is willing to do what is necessary to protect those he loves. And I am willing to continue that path to the end.".
"You are quite a compassionate person, Itachi boy." It was Shunsui who was speaking now, "I wish I could have been someone like you Itachi. But, I bet on my life you'll become a fine soul reaper in these later years.".
Itachi smiled at the words of the captain of squad 8, "Huh, looks like your center of attention Itachi, almost as if there was no need for me to be here anymore.".
"What shark face did you feel hurt?", Shinji gave a quick insult to the former ninja of the mist.
"Well at least i don't have those ugly squares like the teeth of your Captain." Kisame recoils in an insult to the captain of squad 5. This irk Shinji almost wanting to reach his zanpakuto to teach him a lesson.
The bell rang signaling that Itachi and Kisame lunch break was over, "It seems that our time is up, thank you for your time, captains".
"Your welcome. I hope we could enlighten the two of you on your choice of a squad.", Ukitake commented as the two return to their classes.
"So Itachi have you figured out what squad you'll be joining?", Kisame wanted to know his partner's choice of squad.
"I already decided ever since we enter the academy.", Itachi replied with confidence.

1 year later..
Itachi stood inside the office of his new squad captain's office, he was a bit nervous. Soon the doors open and came inside the Captain Yoruichi, "I knew you chose my squad Itachi, you have that certain skill set to join the stealth force.".
"You are quite right, Captain Yoruichi. It was my first choice from the start. I hope to be of great service to you.", Itachi smiled at the purple haired woman.
She could help but blush a bit, "Hey, by the way where did Kisame decide to go."
"Umm, he decided to..".

"Huh, this is surprising!" Shunsui was surprised by the appearance of Kisame in his squad.
"Hello, captain I wish to join your squad!".
