As you can tell final parings haven't been decided yet. That's on me, but I'm not too unwelcome to the idea of suggestions. I want Amelia to be a character that grows and has changes in tastes, and hopefully grows to be a better person as well.

Amelia had to look for a school to go to. She had decided on Domino High School simply for the fact that she was already a part of the story. She might as well go all in. She didn't know how Pegasus was able to get her documented so quickly, but she acquired a paper trail as well. She looked at her ID card and frowned at the last name. Brown had been changed to Crawford. It was a change she had expected but hadn't wanted. Kuriboh let out a sad sound and she quickly smiled. She didn't want it upset.

"What's wrong?" She asked and it let out a series of high-pitched sounds.

She could somewhat understand what was being said. Kuriboh was worried about her getting hurt due to the bullying that went on at Domino High. She gave a soft smile at that and pressed a gentle kiss onto the top of its head. It seemed to relax a bit from the attention. She turned to her suitcase and cracked her neck. She needed to get packing. Pegasus had gone and bought a house close in a small area, near a game shop. She hadn't read the map yet, but she had a gut feeling it was the Kame Game Shop. That would be her luck.

"Crawford-Sama," The sudden Japanese caught her attention and she turned to see a woman with straight dark-brown hair and dark eyes standing in the doorway.

"Oh, hello," Amelia greeted, "come on in."

"My name is Watanabe Suzuki," The woman informed her as she stepped into the room and looked around with a keen eye, "I will be your bodyguard, I must know you whereabouts and where you will be going at all times."

"You could always put a tracker on me," Amelia said with a slight frown, "I'm not adverse to it since it means my safety."

Suzuki gave a nod before leaving the room. Amelia sighed before accepting a ribbon from Kuriboh. She tied it into some of its fur and a happy squeal came from it. It was as distracting as her own thoughts. She frowned at that and quickly finished packing before closing the suitcase. She needed to hurry if she wanted to land in Japan at a reasonable time. She was met by Pegasus and Mr. Crocketts.

"Oh, you packed so quickly," Pegasus said as Mr. Crocketts took the suitcase from her and wheeled it to the personal jet, "I would be insulted if I didn't know why."

"I don't mean to be insulting," She quietly informed him, "school is just important to me."

He hummed at that and she narrowed her eyes in response. Her attention was grabbed by Kuriboh flying towards a suit of armour and studying it. She forgot that she had tied a ribbon into its fur. It didn't even happen that long ago, and she had forgotten. It had to be one of those days where her attention span was wanning faster than usual. That worried her a bit. If she were this easily distracted while talking, how bad would she be when faced with an important situation.

"You are easily distracted. Do you have a ADHD?" Pegasus asked and she owlishly blinked at that.

"I've never been tested for ADHD," She admitted, and he tilted his head slightly before mentally agreeing on something.

She didn't like that as he pulled out a phone that looked to be the size of a brick. It texted, which she hadn't expected, and soon it was back in his suit pocket. She nervously fidgeted for a few seconds before following him as he moved through the castle. He was heading to the back where a strip of asphalt was used as a makeshift runway. She looked at the private jet and made a face. The moment she stepped foot in the Domino Airport, she was going to be hounded by reporters. How was she supposed to deal with them? She was awkward at the best of times, her greeting to Mahad was a wonderful example of how she usually reacted when confused or stressed. She had a feeling she was going to end up saying something incredibly stupid.

"Have you ever dealt with the media before?" Pegasus asked as a few maids walked into the private jet and set things up for her trip.

"No, but I gather saying anything or outwardly reacting can cause me problems," She sighed before frowning slightly, "any tips?"

He let out a hearty laugh, and while she liked the fact that she could make someone laugh. She needed information. Amelia waited until he was done laughing, a slight glare on her face. She felt embarrassed the longer he laughed. What she said hadn't even been that funny. She had been hoping for some genuine advice on not embarrassing herself. He placed a hand on her shoulder and regained his composure.

"I must apologise, it's just that you've said something that I once asked of my father," Pegasus informed her, "my advice is to be yourself, but choose your words carefully."

Amelia nodded in understanding. It was such simple advice, yet effective. He gave her shoulder a light push and she headed up the ramp into the jet. He waved when she turned back to give him an unamused look. She gave a half wave back before entering the jet completely and taking a seat. Kuriboh flew around the cabin at a fast speed as it looked at everything and tried to figure out how they worked.

Amelia watched in amusement, even as the sudden movement of the plane caused her slight distress. She hated flying; it was one of the few modes of transportation that she thought the world could do without. That was mostly her stress talking, and she was very aware of it. The plane jutted as she was bounced around in her seat as it began take off. She strapped herself in as Kuriboh flew into her arms and let out scared sounds. She ran a hand through the ball of fur and closed her eyes to ignore the jittery take off. The sensation ended after a few minutes and she was free to unbuckle herself and move around. She simply turned on the tv and watched whatever they had. She found that they had a lot of cartoons and anime.

Amelia knew that she would've been good friends with Pegasus. They had such good taste after all. A yawn pushed past her lips and she sighed. She was tired, her mind wanted to focus on events that hadn't even started or those that might've happened already. Did Yugi finish the puzzle or was he still working on it? She didn't know, and she had no way of knowing. It wouldn't be until they meet face to face until she knew for sure. She frowned slightly as her fatigue began to appear. Would Ushio be a problem? She was on the smaller side, and wouldn't grow any taller until she was about to turn eighteen. The exact timing of her growth spurt was a mystery to her. She hadn't even noticed it until she was suddenly able to look her father in the eye without tilting her head back. She was starting to get off topic. Then again, when wasn't she?

"Crawford-Sama," Suzuki said as she walked into the cabin, "is everything all right?"

"I hate flying," Amelia quietly answered, "too many documentaries about plane deaths."

The less she said about future events the better. One even for the United States happened when she could still remember it. Planes had been scary ever since. She could go and send a letter to the FBI, but that could cause her serious problems in the future if it turned out it wouldn't happen in the timeline she was in. She gave her bodyguard a soft smile and the older woman went to sit near the back. She quickly turned on an anime, Cinderella Monogatari, and sat back. Kuriboh nuzzled into her chest and turned one eye towards the small screen.. A few seconds in and Kuriboh was purring deeply.

It lulled Amelia to sleep. Her head tilted to the side as she relaxed completely. Her body guard rolled her eyes and went into the small mini fridge to grab a can of coffee. Her newest job would have to drink something to make sure she'd stay up the rest of the day after they landed.

Amelia was surrounded by fog in her dreams. She sighed quietly and wondered if that was now her life. Strange dreams with little to no meaning. She brought a hand up and started to shuffle through the area, mindful of potential tripping hazards. Cold air bit at her nose and cheeks and soon she was shivering. A tank top under a light jacket, paired with a knee length skirt hadn't been the best clothing to wear. In her dreams she didn't even have the light jacket. She stopped walking after ten minutes and scratched the back of her head in thought.

"If I walk long enough, I'm sure to get somewhere," She quietly muttered, her thoughts turning to Alice in Wonderland.

Amelia had never quite enjoyed the book, finding it too whimsical for her taste, even as a small child. She had instead found entertainment in Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, though her grandfather had read that with her when she was younger. Perhaps that was why she had such fondness for the old man. His Irish accent had made the book come alive in so many ways, he had even done voices for each of the characters. As her mind delved deeper into her happy memories of her grandfather, the fog grew denser. Soon, she could barely see right in front of her.

"Shit," She grumbled, "this is why we should pay attention Amelia."

Amelia sighed and started to walk through the dense fog. It was getting hard to breathe the further in she went. Like the fog was trying to choke her. She coughed slightly to clear her throat, but her attempt didn't work. It seemed to make it worse. Beads of sweat began to roll down her face, even though she felt so cold. She shivered and wrapped her arms around herself. That didn't seem to help much, but it made her feel better. Well, until she walked full force into a tree.

"Son of a bitch," She cursed as she held a hand to her nose and squatted.

Oh, she hadn't run full force into stationary objects in a long time. The last time had been when she was coming home from her twenty-first birthday. Her grandfather had taken her out drinking with a few of his fellow Irishmen. It had been a glorious birthday. A peal of laughter rang through the area and she looked around in confusion. Amelia paused upon seeing a white-haired girl standing across from her. She knew who it was. The silent magician, but this had to be her level four form.

"Do…do you know where I am?" She quietly asked the small monster spirit.

"You'll find out soon enough," The silent Magician informed her, a childish lisp in her voice, "just don't shy away from it when it happens."

Amelia didn't get to ask her what she meant when she got a happy wave and a slap to the face. She jolted awake and looked up at her bodyguard with surprise. The woman sighed and raised a brow, her expression was stern. Suzuki felt like she was dealing with another spoiled brat as she put a can of. Amelia gave her a quiet thank you as she opened the can. At least this one had some semblance of manners.

Amelia had been correct when she believed that she'd be hounded by reporters. Cameras and recorders were thrust into her face and she was glad that Kuriboh was there. The ball of fur grasped onto her shoulder and gave tiny growls at all the people. Amelia's mouth was dry and she wanted to wait before opening her coffee up. She didn't want to drop it on the ground, it was the principle of the action.

"Crawford-sama, how does it feel to be heiress to one of the most profitable companies?" A female reporter asked her.

"No comment," She quietly said as she was led through the crowd and towards a waiting car.

"Are you and Kaiba Seto thinking of a relationship anytime soon?" A male reporter asked.

Amelia wasn't going to answer that. How could she? Was she supposed to tell them that she had a slight crush on someone who died thousands of years ago? That was unexplainable. If she thought about it, that was also her luck. He was somewhat nice. He also had pretty eyes, huh maybe it wasn't the worst thing she could do. She supposed it wasn't any different from having a crush on Atem, both were dead. She hoped that her childhood crush on Atem wouldn't rear its head, she didn't need that stress.

Suzuki knew the exact moment her charge had zoned out and ignored the world around her. Her green eyes had glazed over as she entered the car, seemingly dead to the questions asked of her. It was impressive and oddly worrying. How could someone afford to get that lost in their head? It annoyed her if she was being truthful. She thought that Pegasus had finally found an heir that wasn't anything like him. His adoptive sons were like him in the fact that they could get obsessive over things. This girl was so spacey that she wouldn't last a week in the business world.

Amelia looked up at the traditional house and sighed. It was a nice house, but she was missing the castle oddly enough. She was the first to enter and remove her shoes at the door. Suzuki followed. Kuriboh let out soft trills as it flew around the house and explored the new surroundings. Amelia noted that everything was already decorated and moderate furniture filled some of the empty space.

Pegasus usually went for reds and purples, but he had gathered that she went for cooler tones. Blues, silvers and purples decorated her home. She ran a hand across the top of a sofa and found the material to her liking. She plucked at it and noted that it was a removable fabric that could be cleaned. A smile appeared on her face before she headed up the stairs.

Her room was obvious, her name quite literally on the door in the fashion of a silver plate. She was welcomed to an open room bathed in the same colour scheme as the downstairs. She went and sat on the large bed and sighed at the familiar mattress. Pegasus spared little expense when it came to home items. She stood up and quickly ran back down the stairs to drag her suitcase up them. Suzuki said nothing, but glared at her from her spot behind an island counter.

"I don't think she likes me," Amelia quietly mused to Kuriboh after closing her door.

Kuriboh let out a sharp sound before flying towards her and hugging her face. Amelia smiled at that, glad she had at least one person on her side. Even if that one person ended up being a monster made of nothing but fur and large eyes. She set her suitcase on a storage bench in front of the bed. Amelia narrowed her eyes at the sight of extra items in her belongings. She sighed and placed them on a desk that overlooked all the entry points, she could be seen as paranoid but she liked being able to see them.

"So, how's the bed?" Amelia asked the Kuriboh as it tested out the blankets, she got a positive sound in response, "That good huh?"

Her teasing didn't go unnoticed and the Kuriboh shyly hid under the blankets. She smiled at the sight before turning her attention towards her clothes. They all went into her closet where three school uniforms were waiting for her. Pink blazers and baby blue skirts, weren't her colours but she could vibe with them. They'd clash horribly with her hair. She tilted her head at that thought and tugged on the long strands before sending the bathroom a longing look. Did she even have scissors? She had a desk so it was a possibility. She sighed and finished placing her last dress shoe onto a shelf in the closet. She hoped that the first time she wore them she'd step on Kaiba's foot. Oh, she remembered the character that had been an entertaining jerk. She had enjoyed his character immensely and might've learned her more sarcastic sense of humour from him, but she wouldn't put up with it in reality. She'd have to as a future CEO, after all Pegasus didn't survive past Duellist Kingdom in the manga.

"Want to go for a walk and scope the area out?" Amelia asked Kuriboh, "I think Yugi lives in the area."

Kuriboh flew out from under the blankets and did circles on the ceiling. Well, it was doing doughnuts if Amelia wanted to be technical. She smiled when she got a happy hug from the monster. They headed down the stairs, a wallet slipping into the front pocket of her jacket, and looked to see Suzuki watching tv.

"I'm going to walk around the neighbourhood and hopefully find the bus stop to see what the schedule is like," Amelia informed her.

Suzuki hesitated for a few seconds on demanding that she accompany the teenager, but decided not to. It wasn't like Amelia was that well known in the media. She could walk around with issue as long as she behaved. She waved her hand and soon she heard the door opening and closing. She sighed and crinkled her nose in distaste. She was stuck with such a flighty girl for the next year or so. She wouldn't stick around when she took over the company, she'd rather not watch it go into financial ruin.

"She really doesn't like me," Amelia said as she shared a look with Kuriboh, "am I too flighty?"

Kuriboh moved side to side before lifting its hands in a shrug like motion. It didn't know either. It adored its summoner, and became even more attached the moment she mentioned visiting their other favourite. It took a spot in the hoodie hood and looked around form it. Amelia let out a soft laugh when it's claws scratched against her nape. She looked around the area and noted where everything was. A café stood next to a small grocer, and a book store next to that. It was a small area mixed with residential and commercial properties. She liked it, it meant that she didn't have to go searching for things. She even found the bus station and saw what times it ran and how long she had to stay on for the school. She wasn't too excited for the school, but it was a necessary evil.

"Kame Game Shop," She muttered to herself as she looked at the small shop with a residential are attached.

The sign on the door said it was still open. She gently pushed the door open and a bell announced her entrance. A short teen was standing behind the counter and she blinked at the wild colours. Blonde, black and magenta. It was so strange to see in person. She snapped out of her surprise when he greeted her.

"Are you looking for a specific game?" He shyly asked.

"Just looking around," She quietly informed him.

He blushed and nodded. She gave him a sweet smile before moving around the shop. Kuriboh did the same, after playing with Yugi's hair, and pointed to a game they could both play. Amelia just had to figure out how she could get it down without causing other items to fall. Maybe Kuriboh could knock it forward? That would be too suspicious.

"Are you interested in that game?" Yugi's voice caused her to jump in surprise and let out a quiet yell, "I-I'm sorry miss!"

"It's okay," She said as she took a deep breath to calm down, "yes I'm interested in that game, I'm just trying to figure out how to get it down."

"We have a ladder here somewhere," Yugi mumbled as he instantly became shy again.

"It's better than my idea of taking a running leap," She teased and his blush worsened.

Huh, she had forgotten that Yugi had been somewhat shy in the beginning. Judging by his wandering eyes, he was also a bit of a pervert. She wondered what happened to that facet of his personality. Did he grow out of it or did it just become less important as card games grew more prevalent in his life? She was getting distracted again. She moved out of the way when Yugi dragged a ladder over and easily climbed up it and grabbed the game she had been looking at. He couldn't see the duel monster, but it was holding onto the wobbling ladder with all its strength. Catan of all the games for Kuriboh to pick it had to be she knew nothing about. She still paid for it, a thousand yen wasn't a horrible price for a game. It was around ten dollars, though if she thought about inflation then it was pretty pricey. It wasn't anything compared to a sixty dollar game that she had to buy digitally. No, she would be happy spending her ten dollars.

"Are…Are you in high school?" Yugi quietly asked her as he rang up her change.

"Yes, I start at Domino High tomorrow," She answered with a small smile.

"Ah, I go there!" Yugi brightened at that before he became embarrassed.

"Hopefully, we're in the same class," She said as he handed her, her change and the game.

He nodded his agreement and she waved before leaving the store. It was when Kuriboh stopped to pick a flower for her when she realised something. Everyone around her was speaking Japanese, but she could understand it. She lightly touched her forehead. Is that what Mahad did? If so, she was grateful to him. He single-handedly gave her a leg up, though she'd still try and learn the language naturally so she wouldn't be in the dark if the spell wore off. Kuriboh placed an iris in her hair and she smiled at the monster in response.

It must've been nice, getting out of the duel realm. What did they call it in the English version? Shadow realm? Purple realm? No, she was sure the latter was the abridged series. Huh, it was such a minute detail that she didn't remember it. She supposed it didn't matter then, she'd re-learn it as the "story" progressed. Referring to her life as a story caused a strange burning sensation to appear on her stomach. It was all kinds of wrong. Kuriboh let out a sound of surprise and she turned her head to see what it was looking at.

Long white fluffy hair told her who it was. The ring of taller, more muscular, teenagers solidified it. Bakura Ryou was being bullied by a group of teenagers, and he had just been hit to the ground. Amelia couldn't help but wonder about her luck. Was it meet the protagonist and antagonist day? There was still plenty of daylight, she could still run into the others. She clenched her hand into a fist to try and bring herself back to the issue at hand. Does she help him, and get herself on the spirits radar or does she leave him to fend for himself?

Her fist crashing into one of the bullies faces was her answer. She hadn't even been aware of moving from her spot. The sudden attack caused the bullies to pause before another one of their numbers was taken down by the short red-head. It turned out that being on the rowing team had given her an advantage when it came to full body strength. It was her secret, and one she'd never divulge. She ducked under a fist and used the owners momentum to throw them over her shoulder. The bullies dispersed when they realised they weren't going to win, it was better to cut their losses than admit a girl beat them up.

"Idiots," She muttered before turning to Bakura, "are you all right?"

"I'm fine," The soft voice did nothing to hide the scratchy undertones, so she was dealing with the spirit Bakura, "you didn't have to jump in."

"Ah, you would be right about that," She agreed as she moved to help him up, stretching out a hand with a slight smile, "I wanted to."

He took the hand offered to him and she felt the iciness of his skins. It was what she thought shaking a hand with death felt like. He gave her a small, sweet smile of gratitude that didn't quite reach his eyes. They were the colour of the Dark Sides of Dimension movie. A purplish colour that had red mixed into them. A few shades away from brown, if she was being technical, but has too much of the…mauve colour to it. She shifted her game to a different arm and his eyes caught the movement.

"You like games?" He asked fishing for information.

"Depends on the game," She shrugged, "I'm not an overly competitive person when it comes to games, so I guess I do."

It wasn't really an answer, and she was very aware of it. She smiled sweetly at the spirit possessing the white-haired teen before blinking when she noticed the time of the park clock. She needed to head home before the curfew. She didn't want Suzuki chasing her down.

"I should get going, it was nice to meet you…" She said trailing off.

"Bakura Ryou," Bakura introduced.

"I'm Crawford Amelia, please just call me Mia," She said, introducing herself.

Bakura gave a curt nod at that and she waved at him before rushing off. She couldn't help but wonder if she had somehow made a friend with the evil spirit. Amelia's feelings on the spirit were conflicted. On one hand his thirst for revenge was valid, his people had been slaughtered in a genocide and there was never a good reason for genocide. That was one of the few things that had made her dislike Eren Jaeger from Attack on Titan, but that was just her opinion and not one that was popular. On the other hand, she believed his methods were just as bad and extreme. He wanted to destroy the world with Zorc, and she wondered if he knew he was being used. A part of her wanted to believe he did, but just didn't care. Another felt like he was unaware of the manipulation. That part of her felt sympathy towards him, even if it was just a little bit.

Suzuki gave her a stern look before handing her a bag of food and heading up to her room. Amelia couldn't help but be amused that she had made her bodyguard annoyed without even trying. She looked into the bag and rolled her eyes at the take out containers. It was better than nothing, but she didn't want to live off fast food. She needed to hit up the grocery store, and soon. She went to her own room and took a seat behind her desk. Kuriboh placed their new game in the middle of the room and started to set it up, humming the entire time. She hadn't known it could hum, how interesting. She looked at the items included in her clothing and blinked at the duel monster cards. Black Magician, Kuriboh, Mystic Elf, and several spell cards. These weren't on the market yet, and she frowned.

No, these weren't part of the game yet. Pegasus was thinking about adding more spells and traps that were on the whimsical side. This little gift made her wonder if he had seen her thoughts, she presumed that he couldn't or that he hadn't wanted to. She sighed before placing the cards down on her desk, she shouldn't worry about things she couldn't change. No, she should just focus on playing with Kuriboh. She won with a monopoly of wood. It had been a lucky draw for resources. She finished her food and packed up the game as Kuriboh burrowed into the bed and fell asleep. She felt bad, they were going to bored at school. Maybe they could mess with people, there wasn't anyone else that could see the little duel monster. Yes, she gave them full permission to be a little trickster. She smiled as she finished her food, rice and chicken katsu, before throwing away her trash and getting ready for the night. With brushed teeth, a nice shower, and clean clothes she headed off to bed as well, curling up around the cuddly monster. A soft smile on her face.
