Chapter 2

Amanda was so sore the next day, when they ran her legs were like jelly. She kept pushing herself and cursing bitch Benson the whole time. Detective Stabler called her out for a family emergency, "You need to report to the ME's office immediately. You are excused for the day. Amanda went to the office thinking it was a miracle, because her legs hurt so bad.

"Amanda Rollins, I'm here to see Dr. Melinda Warner." A tall black woman with wavy hair met Amanda outside. "Hi Ms. Rollins. I'm sorry to have you come in like this." Amanda shrugged, "It's just Amanda. What's the problem?" Melinda gave a slight smile, "I believe we have your aunt's body. Kim Rollins. It was an OD and we need you to view the body." Amanda showed zero emotion, "Ok." Melinda pulled the sheet back, "Yeah it's her." The door opened, "Here fill this form out and I'll be back."

Melinda had been waiting for the detectives. "Sergeant Benson, Detective Tutuola, I'm glad you could make it." They listened to Melinda go over the evidence. When she was done she asked Fin if she could have a minute with Melinda. "Melinda, what is she doing here?" Melinda looked around, "You know Amanda Rollins?" Olivia shook her head, "She's in the academy." Melinda agreed, "Yeah I had to pull her out today. Her Aunt died of an OD. She seems unbothered." Olivia watched her head to the elevator, "I'll check on her." Melinda grabbed her, "Check on her Liv?" All she got was a smile.

Olivia and Fin caught the elevator with her, "Amanda are you ok?" Amanda looked up surprised at who was talking. "I'm fine Sergeant Benson." Olivia grabbed her shoulder, "Melinda said your aunt passed away." Amanda pulled away, "I said I was fine." Fin was looking and having a ball. All he was missing was popcorn. Amanda kept her eyes forward, it was something about her, she couldn't look at her. Amanda looked at them "It's cool, didn't really know her that well." Olivia thought she was cold.

When the doors opened, She saw a tall blonde woman with black rimmed glasses, she joined them in the elevator. "Hey Liv!" They hugged and Amanda thought they were more than friends. "Hey Fin! Did Melinda give you any more information?" The three of them turned to see big blue eyes looking at them and the doors opened. Amanda shook her head and started to walk away, but Olivia grabbed her arm. "Hey, I'm sorry. Take this, it has my work and personal cell. Call me if you ever need anything." Amanda didn't say a word, just took the card. Fin and Alex were in shock, "Liv what the hell yo!" Olivia rolled her eyes, "Shut it, Fin."

Amanda kept walking until she reached the academy. She took Olivia's card and threw it in her bag, no way would she ever call her. Months passed and Amanda was almost done with the police academy. She was the top prospect. She had aced every written test and could beat out everyone in the physical test. She had two problems, her attitude and her mouth. She didn't know, but Olivia kept tabs on her.

"Hey El! It's Liv. How's she doing? Y'all should be at the end." Elliot informed her, "She will make it, but the question is once she gets placed, will she make it?" Olivia listened, "We had her sit down with Dr. Hanover after the death of her aunt. She had her cremated and never missed a day. Hanover couldn't get much out of her. Liv don't! She's nowhere near ready for SVU." Olivia thanked him, "I'll keep tabs on her."

She made it and was assigned to a senior officer to learn the streets. She bounced around because of her poor attitude until she landed with Lieutenant Jeffries in narcotics. Jeffries worked as a Sergeant when Olivia got to SVU. She was known for her bad attitude at one point, so maybe Amanda was in a good place. Olivia gave Jeffries a call, they were cool with each other, "Congratulations Lieutenant!" Jeffries smiled, "No way Liv, I'm still Jeffries to you. What can I do for you?" Olivia paused, "I heard you have your hands full with Rollins." Jeffries sighed, "She's a good kid and smart, but her attitude is shit. I'm all she's got. If you know her, you better talk to her." They hung up and Olivia needed to figure out something.

Captain Cragen, Sergeants Munch, Benson, and Detective Tutuola were in the middle of an important case. During the meeting Olivia, couldn't understand why Amanda was stuck in her mind. Why did she want to help her so bad, she didn't even know her. They worked with ADA Cabot to fake a release in order to catch a suspect's brother who was raping women. Fin spoke up, "We need a trap." Munch laughed, "Well, who wants to grow blonde hair and get an athletic build. We don't have anyone for that. If he liked brunettes, we could send in Liv." Olivia laughed, but she knew someone who fit the category.

Cragen went to his office frustrated. This case was too important and they were losing it. "Cap! I think I have someone, but she's not a detective, she's fresh out of the academy, she's with Jeffries." Cragen trusted Liv, "Name?" Olivia smiled, "Amanda Rollins." Cragen got on the phone. "Cap heads up. She's a wildcard." Amanda was pulled from duty and she reported to SVU with Lieutenant Jeffries.

Amanda looked around and Jeffries told her to sit, while she talked to Captain Cragen. "Sir, good to see you again. What's the deal?" Cragen responded, "We need her for an operation." Jeffries shook her head, "What are your plans after?" Cragen knew new recruits had to put in time, "You want me to keep her?" Jeffries shook her head, "I heard you were short and I know you have the pull. I also know you have Benson. Amanda is smart and will be a good detective, but she needs something that no one has been able to give her. Not even me. I'm on that girl's ass 24/7." She handed him her jacket.

He looked at it, and saw write ups for insubordination already. She had been moved to different departments, but was good job wise in every one of them. "You might be her last shot." Cragen agreed to take her, but asked the Lieutenant for more help. "I need a seasoned Detective. She said she had one in mind, "Nick Amaro, good cop, has undercover experience, wants out of narcotics. He's a good one, just tired of the same thing. Nothing changes in narcotics."

Cragen called a meeting with all of the detectives, Cabot, and Amanda. He walked out to see Amanda sitting, "Follow me Rollins." She jumped up, "Yes sir." When she walked in she was introduced to everyone, "I heard you know Sergeant Benson." Amanda shook her head and swallowed hard. "This is Sergeant Munch", Amanda shook his hand. "ADA Alex Cabot." Amanda narrowed her eyes. That was the woman that hugged Benson. Olivia watched her expression the entire time. Amanda looked at Olivia then waved at Alex. "And this is Detective Tutuola." Amanda remembered him too and simply said, "Nice to meet you all."

Cragen and Benson were running the show and went over the entire plan. Olivia looked at Amanda, "Can you bait him? Amanda shook her head, "I've got it! No problem." Olivia couldn't stand the attitude, "Excuse me, I'm a superior officer. Let's try that again." The entire room was on notice, "Yes Sergeant Benson. I understand." Amanda was pissed and everyone could hear it in her voice. She was thinking, it had to be her that called her to do this.

The Captain continued and now Olivia was pissed. "Let's get ready to roll. We leave in 10 minutes. Everyone stood up and Olivia said, "Rollins sit, stay." Amanda laughed and Fin gave her an eye while leaving. "Is something funny?" Amanda laughed again, "Yeah, I'm not a dog." Olivia leaned down close to her face. "I think we've been here before haven't we? Do you want to be a cop?" Amanda answered, "Yes ma'am." Olivia smirked, "Your attitude sucks and I'm getting ready to have all the say in whether you stay or not."

Amanda got to ride with Fin. She thought he was pretty cool. "Baby girl, stay focused. You may have been able to pull this tough attitude elsewhere, but not with Liv." Amanda looked, "Liv?" Fin smiled, "Her nickname. You stick with Sergeant Benson." They both laughed. Amanda could tell she was going to like Fin.

Cragen and Olivia rode together, "She's your responsibility. You wanted her for a reason, so she's yours." Olivia explained to Cragen, "I met her when I went to speak at the academy. Elliot said she was the top recruit." Cragen didn't think it was the entire truth, he knew Olivia and Alex had something going on at one time, but Olivia was always professional. "I don't need to know. Don't let it interfere with my squad." Olivia smiled, "Yes sir."
