The Kasprasian which had been sneaking up on Curristan and Jadena screamed in agony as the shot ripped into his chest. Curristan stalked forwards rifle at the ready and fired a second round into the Kasprasian's head.

"There that's that one dealt with. Sorry, Jadena but he would have killed us both."

Jadena nodded weakly. She had been frightened by the sudden attack and Curristan's reaction had to her disgust been a relief. However, she trusted him and knew he had no choice.

Curristan meanwhile rolled the corpse over with his foot, confirming that he had neutralised the danger. Shaking his head, he knelt down and began searching the Kasprasian for anything.

After a few seconds of searching, he found a comm unit and a laser pistol which he took for himself.

'Not really something I want to do but the planet will be in serious danger if I don't act. I feel absolutely horrible but I know it needs to be done.'

He led Jaden back to the village, both of them now extremely wary of what was around them. After several minutes Jaden against her usual distaste of weapons held her left hand. "I usually hate weapons but can I have that laser pistol, I don't want to risk being defenceless."

Handing the weapon over Curristan could definitely see her point. "I don't see why not. I wouldn't want you to get killed."

Jadena tightly gripping the pistol nodded and continued to follow Curristan's lead.

The eerie calm continued as their hunt for the remaining Kasprasian.

Ten minutes later and when they were just about to give up, Jaden spotted a movement to her right and she turned, firing at the presence. A scream answered the shot which brought Curristan's attention. However before he could see what had happened, the area felt silent once again.

Jaden looked carefully and then sighed in defeat. "Dammit I think I hit someone, there was a movement to our right and I fired."

"Okay let's have a look, there may be a blood trail."

As they approached where Jaden had fired at, they saw a pool of blood which Curristan definitely knew was Kasprasian. "Well, you managed to wound them, which will slow them down. Excellent shot Jaden."

"Thank you Curristan, but they still got away."

"Don't worry, we will have a better chance of finding them thanks to you."

The trail of blood was intermittent but it was a handy trail that Curristan and Jaden could follow. However, night was falling and the danger of searching in the dark without any night vision equipment was high. "Jaden let's go over here and hide here for the night. We need to keep safe."

"I agree, the morning would be safer."

They quickly entered a nearby shack, Curristan closing and locking the door with his sonic screwdriver so the Kasprasian could not try to attack them. They settled in for the night, knowing that they could sleep in security.

Throughout the night Jaden would wake up several times, the situation making her have repeated nightmares about her experiences back on her homeworld. She knew that Curristan would protect her, but still, the memories persisted. However, she would finally fall asleep, her tiredness winning out.

The morning saw Curristan coming out of the shack first, Jaden coming close behind. The morning was crisp and the blood trail had thankfully stayed. This would finally bring them to where they knew the Kasprasian was hiding.

Indicating just ahead of them Curristan whispered to Jaden "Well I think we are getting close. The blood trail seems to be heading towards that copse of trees. I am sure by now the Kasprasian is weakened by the loss of blood. But I am sure that we will find out in a second..."

As they approached where Curristan had indicated, they could hear a low moaning. As they got closer, they finally saw the Kasprasian laying on its back, a hole in the right side of its chest.

Jaden gasped, realising she had actually mortally wounded them. "What have I done?"

"Don't worry Jaden" Curristan reassured her. "That Kasprasian would have tried to kill you."

The Kasprasian coughed and groaned again. "I submit that I have been bested by you both...I hope that you will give me an honourable death."

Jaden turned furious in that. "You have been a murderer and not honourable. You are absolute scum!"

"Easy Jaden, he wants to make you angry. You are better than that."

The Kasprasian laughed, low and menacing. "They were worthless...*cough*..."

Curristan stared at the fallen creature before responding. "You don't deserve to be put out of your misery. Jaden leave us for a second."

Jaden nodded and walked outside, leaving the two alone.

Curristan walked closer, coming to near arm's length. He then pulled a combat knife that he had found in the Kasprasian ship. "This is yours...you can have it back." He then spun the knife before stepping forward and thrusting it into the Kasprasian's stomach before tearing it out.

The Kasprasian screamed in agony as the blade tore into him and felt his flesh tear as the knife went in and out of it. Curristan stood and watched impassively as blood now poured out of the new wound.

Jaden outside heard the scream and felt a small sense of satisfaction. She knew that the Kasprasian had caused a massacre and despite how wrong it felt, she knew he was getting his deserved fate.

Curristan watched as the life began to drain from the Kasprasian. He could feel that he had lashed out unnecessarily, but he had felt such anger for the massacre that had happened. After a few more moments, the Kasprasian finally went still. It was over. Curristan nodded in acceptance before returning to where Jaden was.

Jaden as she saw Curristan approach knew that the situation was now resolved. However, she could feel that the action he had done was on his mind. However, she allowed herself to be led back to the TARDIS.
