(RAVEN'S PERSPECTIVE)
"Raven?"
I never thought I would hear my name again.
My lungs gingerly respired as if it was my first time breathing.
I tried to lift up my head but it seemed to weigh a ton. Electricity buzzed through my body as it awakened.
"Raven."
It was Robin.
"Yeah? Ugh, gosh." a pang struck my head.
"Easy, easy. Are you okay?" Robin whispered.
My eyes swept over the medical room.
My ears tuned into the chiming of the heart monitor. The whirs and hums of the Tower.
My hitched, anxious breaths.
"I don't know, Robin." I stared at the ceiling blankly.
Pop.
My eyes widened and my blood became stagnant.
"We turned the three robbers in. There was another one but it looks like he got away. By the time we turned them over to the police we realized you were missing. Luckily you had your communicator on you so locating you was no problem. But we found you collapsed on the floor and unconscious." Robin rambled.
"Mhm..."
My brain could not even grasp the fact that I was safe.
"What happened, Raven?" Robin looked at me concern.
"Nothing." I responded coldly.
"Falling unconscious isn't nothing. Tell me what happened." Robin demanded softly.
"I said, nothing. Nothing, Robin." I unplugged myself from medical wires and moved slowly off the bed.
"Raven can you please tell me. I won't tell anyone if that's what you—"
"NO!" my powers cracked something and I jumped in fear.
Pop.
I pulled up my hood.
I began to have that dreadful, painful heartthrob again. My body showered in sweat. Hot tears bubbled in my eyes as today's world morphed into yesterday's.
"Hey, hey, hey, calm down. Raven, listen to me." Robin came closer and tried to comfort me.
"No! No. Leave me alone." I snapped, trying to hold back my tears.
"Is everything okay? I heard a loud noise." Beastboy appeared at the door.
"You haven't heard loud yet." I mumbled and pushed past him.
I furiously whooshed open my room door and entered the room.
I did not like the sound of my breathing anymore. My airways were hesitant in their job. I wanted breathing to work the same without thinking about it, but it looks as if I had to think about it so it could happen.
I was slightly eased by being in my own setting.
The lavender smell, the scent of ancient pages, candles, marble figurines. This was as close to peaceful it was going to get and has ever gotten. Nevertheless, I was afraid when such a serene state would be snatched away from me again.
"What happened, Raven?" I repeated Robin's question.
"I don't know Robin. I don't. I knocked out during the line of duty and somehow, I'm still alive. I'm not worried about you telling anyone. I'm worried that..." I sat on my bed.
"I'm just worried."
I huffed, shook my hands, and got in my meditating position.
"Azarath, Metrion, Zinthos."
Pop.
My face scrunched but I pushed to concentrate.
"Azarath, Metrion, Zinthos."
Pop. Pop. Pop.
"Azarath..."
The cold, metal, shiny weapon reappeared in my mind.
Death was standing right in front of me yesterday night. It never took me out but its close contact manipulated my thoughts.
The trigger drawing back.
The smoke from the shot.
My deafening heart beat.
Pop.
I shook my head in frustration and decided to meditate later.
"Maybe... I should drink some tea." I left my room in an oddly restless manner.
"FRIEND RAVEN! You have recovered!" Starfire leaped on top of me when I entered the Common Room.
"Oh, my gosh, Starfire." I gently pushed her away.
"What is the matter, Raven? Why do you have such a standoffish character?" the alien's green pupils dulled.
"Don't I always?" I deadpanned.
"Yes, um, but some days more than others. Today is one of the days where the standoffish character is more dominant."
"I guess." I shrugged and dismissed the conversation.
I silently grabbed for a mug in the cupboard.
Pop.
I inhaled sharply and dropped the cup.
Surprisingly it didn't break.
"Woah, there. Are you okay, Raven?" I was frozen all over again.
I didn't even notice Cyborg was washing dishes beside me.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I shivered violently.
"I haven't seen you since yesterday. How are you feeling?" The half robot asked.
"You asked the same question twice, can you shut up?!" I gave Cyborg a harsh glare.
"Well damn, I was just wonderin' how you feel, but 'ight." He turned back to his task.
"I'm sorry, that was rude of me." I picked up the cup and turned on the kettle.
"It's okay."
"I don't... want to talk about it." I said softly.
"That's cool. Whenever you do, you know where I'm at." Cyborg smiled at me while drying the last plate.
"Thanks." I weakly smiled back.
The alarm blared through the Tower, causing me to jolt.
"Report!" Robin ran into the Common Room.
"Couch Potato." Beastboy said from the sofa.
"Who?"
"Control Freak dude, get with the memo." Beastboy scoffed.
"Whatever. He's messing around at Cook's Electronics."
"Again? He seriously needs a new place to do crime." Beastboy said.
"Or not do crime at all. Titans, move out!"
The team ran out while the kettle boiled.
"Hey, Raven, are you coming?" I heard Beastboy ask.
"I can't." I turned my back to Beastboy, then he left me alone.
