Captain Blues: Whoa. Thank you guys so much for your reviews. I was admittedly nervous about doing this, but you guys have given me the will to keep going, so I hope you all enjoy the second chapter!

My Hero Academia: Two Minds, One Body
Chapter One

[Midoriya Residence (Morning)
POV: Midoriya Izuku]

The combination of chirping birds and a beam of sunlight hitting his face caused Izuku to wake from his deep sleep. Izuku rose from his bed and rubbed his hand against his face before he yawned.

"Man, what a crazy n-night," Izuku mumbled.

Was last night a dream?

It had to have been, right?

He had often had dreams about gaining a Quirk, but he always woke up and was disappointed by his reality. But he felt different from waking up yesterday morning and what happened the previous night felt real compared to his dreams.

Izuku felt this strange flowing sensation within his body that he knew he didn't have there before. He compared it to a slow river, constantly moving yet at a gentle pace.

Izuku yawned again as he slid out of bed and shuffled his way into the bathroom. 'Maybe it was a dream…' he thought as he opened the bathroom door, flipped on the light, and walked past his mirror to the toilet.

But as he walked past the mirror, his reflection revealed a flickering silhouette, which was entering and exiting his body sporadically, as if something was struggling to free itself from its fleshy prison.

Izuku paused and walked backward until his image was in the mirror. He turned his head and stared at his reflection curiously and noticed the flickering silhouette, along with his irises being a mint-green hue instead of their typical emerald-green.

He also noticed that his irises were glowing.

"That's new," Izuku muttered with a squint of his eyes.

It was then Izuku heard a yawn within his head.

"Oh boy, do you always wake up this early?" The voice sleepily asked.

Izuku jumped in alarm as he looked around in confusion.

"Hey, calm down. It's just me," The voice said, the sleepy tone slowly clearing up.

Izuku paused. "W-Wait…It wasn't a dream?" Izuku asked with trepidation. "I-I do have Q-Quark?"

"D-Did we not clear this up last night?" The voice asked. Izuku could picture someone looking around them in confusion as the question was asked and almost chuckled at the image. "I could have sworn we cleared this up. Oh no, do I have to do that all again?" The voice asked.

"No, n-not at all," Izuku said with a smile. "W-Wow, I actually have a-a Quirk. This is a-amazing."

"We established this last night, Izuka," The voice said, but while its tone was filled with mirth, Izuku could strangely tell that the presence was happy. "But since you are confused, allow me to introduce myself. I am yo-"

Izuku interrupted the voice with an excited squeal and said, "I-I'm sorry for interrupting. Can I take care of all m-my business before you get into i-it? I-I want to log this in my n-new Hero Analysis r-recording notebook?"

"Duh, I'd be insulted if you didn't. After this, we need to eat. We are starving," The voice said.

Mere seconds later, Izuku's stomach roared in discomfort.

"W-Whoa. Save questions for later," Izuku told himself. "Bathroom stuff first. Geek out after."

After fulfilling all of his bathroom needs and getting nourishment from his All-Mighty-O's Chocolate and Marshmellow cereal, Izuku sat at his desk with a new notebook. "A-Alright. Let's get to it!" Izuku happily exclaimed.

"About time. Also, that cereal? We need more of it. It tastes delicious," The voice said.

"I-I know!" Izuku shouted. "But it's a limited edition cereal. W-We can get some from the store after school, t-today."

"Thank goodness," The voice sighed out.

"O-Okay. Let's get serious," Izuku said as he held up his notebook. "Ahem, this is Midoriya Izuku, and I am interviewing my very own Quirk. Sir, can you introduce yourself?"

"Osu! I am you!" The voice said. "Well, another side of you. The side of you that never gets out. I guess you can say that I'm the dark side of you."

"Interesting," Izuku said as he wrote it down. "Do you have a name?"

"I mean, technically, I do since we're the same person, but since our Quirk is awakened and we're actually talking together and will be fighting together, we both can't be called Izuku. So call me Mirā Ukuzi," The voice, now known as Mirā Ukuzi, told him.

"I kind of like it, Uku-chan," Izuku chirped.

"Thank you, Izuku," Ukuzi said. "I guess that's the best I could come up with, considering I never dreamed you would accept me."

"I didn't make it easy, did I?" Izuku asked as he wrote in his notebook.

"Not. At. All," Came Ukuzi's reply.

Izuku nodded and asked, "So, how did you come about existing?"

"Well, as if said countless times, I'm you. So I've been with you for all of these years but our Quirk: Gemini, is not something that can be noticed or found out if that makes sense," Uzuki began. "The only way you can trigger it is you have to accept that dark truth about yourself and who you are."

Izuku nodded as he continued to write.

"For example, that clown," Uzuki hissed out. "You chased after him, not only because you admired him, but because you wanted to regain that last piece of happiness you had before that wildly inaccurate result. In doing that, I was created. I'm your confidence, your arrogance, your bitterness, your fearlessness, and your self-worth. I am what you wished you could be."

Izuku frowned but did not refute this.

"In chasing that clown, you pushed away your pride and became who you are now. Humble, kind, selfless, caring. And those wonderful qualities. But you're timid, shy; your self-esteem and self-worth are at an all-time low," Uzuki continued. "You've been like this for so long that it's ingrained in you. And so, I am your opposite."

"W-Wait? Does that mean you're e-evil?" Izuku asked.

"No! You think I would become a villain? I mean, it would make sense considering all of the emotional and physical abuse and self-esteem issues but no. I'm you, after all. There are some things that we do share between us. Just in terms of personality and something else, I'm everything you're not," Uzuki answered.

Izuku sighed.

"What a relief," Izuku said. "Forgive me. Continue!"

"Thank you. So If memory serves us correctly, I tried to talk to you immediately after that fated day when we were revealed as "Quirk-Less," but you were so deep in your grief that you ignored me," Uzuki told him. "I tried to talk to you throughout the years, but you were so far gone in chasing that fantasy with the clown that I was growing angry. And that was bad."

"How bad could it have gotten?" Izuku asked.

"I was your Shadow before we re-united under one body. A Shadow is the true self that is suppressed—a side of one's personality they don't want to see. If you continued to push me away, or if you denied who I was and truths that I told you last night, I would have become feral, and I would have killed you," Uzuki told him, which caused Izuku to gasp.

"Y-You would have killed me?" Izuku stammered out.

"Yes," Uzuki replied. "Denying who you are, both the good and the bad, is a poisonous thing to do. Anyone can hide who they truly are, but that only leads to despair and suicide. Which would have been the case between you and me."

"I see…" Izuku murmured. "I-I had no idea that you could have killed me."

"But I didn't. And because you embraced the truth and me, we are now stronger than we've ever been," Uzuki chirped out.

"Okay…So is this all my Quirk is? Just having you in my head?" Izuku questioned.

"There are two other skills we have, but one of them is a little complex. It would be better if I could show you how that works. But I wonder how I could demonstrate it to you…" Uzuki muttered.

Just then, Izuku's phone began to chime.

"Oh! Time for school! I better get ready!" Izuku exclaimed.

"Oh boy," Uzuki groaned.

[Aldera Junior High (Morning)
POV: Midoriya Izuku]

"Ohayou Sekai, Good Morning World," Izuku sang as he walked down the path towards his school with the biggest smile he could muster. "Clear the darkness of the impossible. Make legends come to life with just a wish on a star (on a star) Guided by the will we've carried all along -Let's go explore the world!"

"You are giddy today, Izuku. It's a nice change of pace," Uzuki fondly said.

"W-Why shouldn't I be? I have a Q-Quirk!" Izuki stammered with a blush on his face. "Ne, Uku-chan."

"Yo?" Uzuki questioned.

"How do you know so much about our Quirk?" Izuku asked.

"Sure, I can tell you that. But first, a little heads up. If you don't want to look insane, you can just think to me. I can still hear it," Uzuki told him.

'Like this?' Izuki thought.

"Beautiful," Uzuki replied. "To answer your question, I should explain more about my presence. Every living, breathing being was created in Sea of Souls. Everyone you've ever met, everyone you care for has a Shadow. The only difference between you and them is our Quirk. It allowed you to see me, and, now, it allows you to use our Quirk and its abilities."

'I see…' Izuku thought. 'So even Mom might have a Shadow…'

"Of course," Uzuki replied.

'Are we able to see their Shadows?' Izuku asked.

"I have no idea," Uzuki sheepishly replied.

Izuku misstepped and swung his arms around with a panicked yell, nearly face-planting. Izuku recovered his balance then exclaimed, "W-What do you mean, you don't know, U-Uku-chan?!"

"It means I don't know. We're the only ones with this Quirk!" Uzuki exclaimed. Unbeknownst to Izuku, the flickering shadow that ebbed and flowed from his body warbled wildly at the yell.

'W-Well, you made it s-sound like you knew e-everything about it,' Izuku stammered.

"I only know about it because we were born with it," Uzuki said with a pouting tone. "Every Shadow knows what their Quirk is and how it's supposed to work, but we don't know the limit that our Quirks can reach. In the end, it's the user who determines that ceiling. If we can keep working at our Quirk, I'll be learning alongside you about how far our abilities can go…"

Izuku was about to reply when he heard the frantic sound of a bird chirping. 'Uku-chan. You hear that?' Izuku asked.

"I do…But where?" Uzuki replied.

Izuku looked around for a moment until he saw some shuffling in the bushes. Izuku walked towards the bush and looked within it to see a bird with a broken wing. "Oh no…" Izuku murmured as the bird chirped wildly. "You poor thing," Izuku whispered as his eyes glistened with tears.

"Wait! This is perfect!" Uzuki exclaimed.

'P-Perfect?! How?! This little creature is hurt!' Izuku exclaimed.

"Because you can heal him," Uzuki replied.

Izuku blinked before he asked out loud, "I can?"

"I told you that there was more to our Quirk than just me being inside your head," Uzuki murmured. "What are you feeling right now?" Uzuki asked him.

Izuku stared at the bird with worried eyes. All he wanted to do was heal the tiny creature. Izuku then felt that strange, slow sensation inside him begin to rush through him faster as if the slow river had changed morphed into the rapids.

Izuku then noticed that this rushing sensation was going towards his hands, and when he looked down, he saw that his hands were glowing a bright green, with mint-green sparkles rising from them.

But what Izuku wasn't aware of was the same sparkles were also floating from his glowing mint-green irises.

"What is this?" Izuku asked.

"This…Is your side of our Quirk…" Uzuki told him. "The bird is not looking too well. You better help it."

Izuku looked at his hands. If his hands were glowing, then he should be able to help the bird with his touch.

Hesitantly, Izuku reached out and scooped the bird from out of the bush and held it in his hands.

But to his confusion, the bird wasn't healing, but he could feel his hands starting to ache due to the amount of pressure he felt within them.

'Wait, touching it doesn't heal the bird, but the pressure in my hands continues to get worse. Maybe I'm trying to release it in the wrong way,' Izuku thought to himself as he sat the bird on the grass. He then took a closer look at his hands.

While the sparkles were floating from his hands, Izuku noticed that most sparkles were coming from his right index and middle fingertips.

Izuku then smacked his forehead hard, which caused Uzuki to let out a quick "Ow."

'Duh, Of course, it works that way! I get it now,' Izuku thought before he pressed his two fingers together and aimed them at the bird. He gripped his right wrist to keep it steady.

"Raise your thumb," Uzuki instructed.

Izuku raised his thumb and noticed more sparkling light escape from his right index and middle fingers. "Now pull the "Trigger" and heal that thing," Uzuki told him.

Izuku nodded and bent his thumb, which caused a shard of mint-green light to fly from his fingertips sharply, which caused his feet to skid against the ground and his arm to bend from the recoil. The shard of light collided against the bird, causing the mint-green sparkles to explode from it.

Izuku's irises were no longer glowing and just mint-green hue. Izuku watched in amazement as the bird began to move its now healed wing with trepidation before it chirped and flew around Izuku happily before flying into the air, a trail of sparkles following it.

"And that is your ability granted by our Quirk. Gemini: Healing Bullet," Uzuki proudly announced. "Our Quirk's actual ability now that you met its prerequisite in accepting me. Your kind, generous, humble, selfless nature caused our Quirk to grant you this ability to heal, but because of your timid, shy nature, you can only use it from afar."

'I see,' Izuku muttered as he pulled out his notebook and wrote into it. 'So our Quirk takes the attributes and personality into account when giving us the true ability of it. Interesting.'

Izuku frowned. 'So I guess with my ability to heal, your ability….' Izuku drifted off.

"I'm not confirming anything. You'll have to wait and see," Uzuki boasted.

'I'm starting to think you enjoy keeping things from me,' Izuku muttered.

"Hey, you kept this from happening for about seven years and kept my ass buried inside your heart. I'm allowed to have some fun, you know?" Uzuki replied. "Besides, I'm running out of things that I know. Soon, we'll both be equally clueless about stuff."

In the distance, the bells from Aldera began to ring, signifying school was about to start.

"Now come on. Don't we have school?" Uzuki questioned.

Izuku smiled and ran off.

Captain Blues: And that is the end of the second chapter. What did you guys think? I know right now, Uzuki seems to be more the teacher regarding their Quirk, but as I noted, his knowledge of their Quirk is coming to an end.

Full disclosure, there are only two things he has yet to reveal. The rest? Well, you'll have to learn that alongside them. The next chapter will be the explosive meeting between Izuka and Bakugou…or will it be Izuku that confronts him? It will also involve All-Might and the One-For-All. So until then, time to set sail.
