Summary:

After many attempts before, Aki Ikari is ready to to be a big girl and use the potty.

"Potty Training"

Today was another day of Shinji and Asuka attempting the very thing that they had so long been wishing to have over and done with, potty training.

While both parents undoubtedly loved their daughter Aki, too long had they both had to endure changing her diapers as well as cleaning up the little rascal's messes plus enduring the very potent smells. With Aki now two years old and from what both Shinji and Asuka read from many books on the subject it was the perfect time to start trying now.

Admittedly Shinji and Asuka had tried to do this much earlier before a year ago, but the result ended with Aki being still too young to know what to do and they gave up after finding that the little girl put the potty bowl on her head thinking it was a hat or something and without her diapers on, it wasn't too long until a yellowish puddle formed on the bathroom floor.

Now with her being a year older and a bit better understanding, they both told and explained to the two year old before they would be trying this. Aki of course strongly refused, having long since gotten used to her wearing diapers but that eventually changed after Asuka was able to convince the her in the end by appealing to the girl that learning to use the potty would make her a even bigger and smart girl.

Shinji chuckled at that memory while currently reading in his study area. Aki undoubtedly took a lot from her mother as it was almost too easy to get the girl on board when she was being praised, not that he would ever say this out loud to his wife unless incur her wrath.

They had pretty much prepared for this as Aki had eaten and drank enough that she would eventually do her "business" all too soon. Both he and Asuka had told Aki if she felt or needed to go then she should tell them right away.

And as he wished it, he heard Aki calling him and Asuka while also hearing her running to the bathroom.

"MAMA! PAPA! I need to use the potty now!"

Shinji got up and quickly went to the bathroom, nearly crashing into Asuka as she too was rushing to get into the bathroom. As they both entered they see that Aki was already on there and pulling down her leg bottoms, slightly jumped when her parents came rushing in just as she called them.

Just as Aki sat down on the potty Asuka was already kneeling down next to her "Ok Schätzchen, what is it you need to do, a number one or number two?"

Aki now looked nervous and self conscious of her parents being here. "Um it's both Mama"

"Remember Aki just let it out naturally and don't force yourself ok" Shinji said, adding in his advice.

However, while Aki did indeed needed to go and wanted her mama and papa there to show that she was a big girl doing this, it seemed that her parents being by her side at this moment made the little girl feel self conscious and going to the potty now seemed impossible for her.

It seemed to dawn on both parents after a few long minutes of waiting that Aki was feeling too nervous to even do her business with them hovering around her.

"Hey Schätzchen, is us being here too much?" Asuka asked her daughter, to which Aki nervously nodded.

Shinji came up with a small solution to this problem. "Ok honey if us being here is too much then me and mama will be right outside the bathroom ok".

Aki nodded and watched her parents move towards the bathroom door and closing the door behind them though not before both given her a comforting smiles which seemed to ease Aki greatly.

It wasn't too long that Shinji and Asuka had to wait, maybe a less then five minutes till they heard Aki call out again for them.

"Mama, Papa, I'm done now!"

Re-entering the bathroom they saw that Aki is now proudly standing next to the now full potty. Both Asuka and Shinji couldn't help but feel happy seeing their daughter had finally learned to use the potty and for Shinji especially, he was glad he didn't miss another "first" with Aki.

Asuka walked over and lifting Aki up before hugging her daughter tightly to her body.

"Congratulations Schätzchen you did it, you finally used the potty like a big girl" Asuka praised the girl in her arm who was hugging back while happily giggling, as Shinji also came close to the two and began ruffling Aki's hair.

For both parents they were finally glad to see the end to baby messes and diaper changing but they couldn't help but feel a certain twinge at another aspect of parenthood now gone.
