I yawn. I'm still sleepy after last night's concert. It was amazing! I wonder why that girl winked at me. I sigh. It's probably a girl thing. I pull out my Puppad. I'm going to look it up.
"Ryder? What's for breakfast?" Rubble pokes his head into my bedroom. "I'm starving!"
"I'm coming. I put my Puppad in my pocket and follow Rubble into the kitchen.
"Ryder! Katie's here!" Chase howls from the living room. I sigh even louder. What does she want now? I don't want to talk to her after yesterday. I ignore Chase and give the pups their food.
Let me backup a bit. Yesterday, after the concert, Katie decided she was going to start getting possessive over me. She told me that I can't hang out with anyone but her! You know what I said? I said- "Watch me."
"Ryder?" Katie comes into my kitchen like she owns it.
"What?" I snap. I want to be alone for a while.
"Why didn't you tell me you got a new cat?" She asks.
"What new cat?" I turn around. "I'm confused."
She looks at me like I'm stupid, then walks out. Good riddance! I pour my cereal into a cup and go to watch TV.
But before I get out the door, Katie comes back. "This cat!" She says. "You're so dense!"
I ignored the rude comment. "Who's that? Where did you find him?" I demand. He's a kitten, but he shouldn't be away from his mother yet, his eyes are still closed!
When she didn't answer, I said "Katie, he needs to be with his mother. Put him back where you found him!" I stalk past her and sit down on the couch.
"Ryder, she was in here!" Katie scowls at me.
"Katie, I thought you knew more about animals than I do. That cat is obviously a boy. Duh!" I snap. And she called me dense!
I start eating my cereal and turn on the news. Haily Daily was talking about last night's concert.
"Ryder, that doesn't matter!" She yelled, then obviously listening to what I said, "What's his name?"
I lost my temper. "Katie, he's not mine! He should be with his mother, not my living room making Chase sneeze! Just leave me alone Please!" I yell. She freezes.
Chase looks up from his sneezing fit "I told you so, AHH CHOO!"
"Give him to me. I'm taking him to the one person I barely know that will take care of him without it being you!" I get up and leave. I'm going to Kittypaw's to get a form to fill out for the poor little guy.
"Ryder! Wait!" Katie calls. I put my ATV in drive and went without looking back.
For some strange reason Katie thinks I'm her boyfriend. I don't know what planet she was born on, but I don't want to be her boyfriend. I just don't. Everyone has their own opinions, why can't I have mine?
I get off of my ATV and knock on her door. "I'll get it!" Someone yelled. I wonder if that's one of her foxes? The door opens.
"Hello. Is Kittypaw home? I heard she takes in foster animals." I say.
"I'll go get her." She says.
I hear her talking to someone. "Kittypaw, Ryder's here and he wants a-"
"Get it, tell him I'm asleep!" I hear her running up the stairs panicking.
The fox came back with the papers. "She's asleep. Just put it in her mailbox, she'll get it."
"Wait, what was all that about? I know she's not asleep! She was just-" I began.
"Don't tell her I told you this, she has a crush on you, she kind of panicked. I guess her outfit wasn't good enough." He barks cheerfully. "Hey, I didn't know you had a pet spider!"
"What? Spider? Umm…"
"There's one on your shoulder." She yips.
"WHAT? GET IT OFF!" I scream.
The fox started laughing hysterically. "April Fools!" She cheers and runs off, closing the door behind her. I laugh. That was pretty funny.
When I got back to the Lookout Tower, I took out a pen and started filling out the form. Within five minutes, I finished.
I heard a wail coming from the kitchen, followed by Marshall screaming "MAKE IT STOP! MAKE IT EAT! SOMEONE DO SOMETHING!" I ran into the kitchen.
Marshall was laying on the ground with his paws over his ears while the poor kitten was wailing.
I pick up the kitten and try to bottle feed it like Marshall was doing. The little brat pushed the bottle away and wailed even louder.
"You can't feed him either?" Skye asks. "We've all tried!"
I sigh. "Ouch! Okay okay, I get it. You're hungry, if you would let me feed you, you wouldn't be!" I say as he sticks his needle sharp claws through my long sleeve shirt.
I put him down and shake my arm. That little rascal! Hey, that's it! "Your name is Rascal." I announce. The kitten wails again.
"Ryder, we should call a professional." Rocky suggests.
"I already filled out a form for foster care." I say. "I'm just waiting on that call."
"Wow, you really are always one paw-step ahead of the crew!" Marshall jokes. We all laugh.
Then my Puppad rang. I pull it out of my pocket with my good arm. "Hello."
"Hi, I am calling because I found a form in the mail." She began. "It's a regulation that I come to meet the kitten and give him a quick checkup. What date is okay for you?"
"Umm, today would be great. Rascal won't feed off of the bottle and he's way too noisy." I say.
"Hmm, you weren't kidding. The kitten really is a newborn." She says as Rocky uses his claw arm and puts the traumatized kitten on my shoulder. "Is his name Rascal? Explain that. I think it's an adorable name." She replied.
"Well, he scratched me after pushing the kitten formula away, so I thought he was a little rascal, and that kind of stuck." I say. She's hot, way hotter than Katie. Hmm…
"Aww! I'll come over right away, since he's not eating." She said.
Rascal slid clumsily down my arm. I laugh. "That tickles! See you shortly," I hang up and walk upstairs. I better change out of my PJ's.
"Ryder, help! It clawed me!" Chase shrieked after a particularly loud sneeze.
"Coming!" I sigh. Looks like there's no time to change.
I pick the kitten up and put him in a random basket Rocky had in his truck.
Then, Marshall walks up to me. "Someones coming up to the door. Did you invite someone? Chase is going to be MAD!"
"I invited someone to come and look at Rascal to see if they can foster him." I explain.
"Oh, okay." He replies, licking the pup trat he found under the couch. "It's a bit stale, but delicious."
I laugh. We walk to the door. "Hello! Are you here to meet Rascal?" Marshall asks.
"Yes. I did." She looks me up and down. "You look comfortable."
Marshall started laughing when my face turned red. "I- uh, didn't have time to change, Rascal clawed Chase…"
"That's fine. I love your outfit!" She says. "Where's Rascal?"
"Follow me." I say, thankful that the subject was changed.
"She's hot, isn't she?" Marshall teased and ran off before I coil spill my water on him.
"Aww," She squeals. I jump. "He's such a precious little kitty!" She runs over too him and immediately grabs a bottle of kitten formula from her bag.
"He wont eat…" I warn.
"That's because you didn't do it right! Look!" She turns around and shows me the little cat suckling like his life depends on it. I mean, it does, but still.
"Wow! How did you-" I try to say.
"Shh! Don't disturb him! He wants peace!" She whispers.
