This is Rahul in a Covid world. That's right, it's 2020. But in all seriousness, it's going to lead to some interesting things happening with him, being strong, smart, and everything. Though, let's get on with the story.
Rahul POV
A nightmare plagued me again. But this time… it was different.
"If all I wanted was power and money and slaves, I wouldn't have taken you in after your parents were murdered. I serve the justice system."
I'd usually be tortured by images of the past, where I'd meet and see people, and experience seeing the people I cared about, whether that be friends, family, or husbands, dying.
However, I didn't feel the unfamiliarity that all the other ones did. I felt… a connection to it.
I held a gun in my hand, straight at this man's head, and snickered, somehow.
"At least, what's left of it."
"What…"
The man in front of me didn't look like anyone I'd ever met. And yet, unlike those past memories... I felt like I knew him all too well.
'...dad?'
"Yes, I am your dad."
I shot his leg, and his eyes clenched in pain. But, one last time… I saw him open them.
He had the same dirt brown eyes… ones that were meant to lead people, and ones that people were compelled to follow.
But now, I looked one last time, outside, and saw what that power made him do, and who he killed for that power.
The bullet went off, and I woke up, eyes wide awake.
'Damn. What was that…'
I breathed in heavily, trying to calm my heavy beating heart, thinking about the dream.
'Okay. Calm down, Rahul. You've got a lot more people to help today. It's Christmas eve. You can't be freaking out.'
That eventually slowed my heart rate down a couple of notches, but unfortunately, there was no way I could sleep.
'3 in the morning. Great.' I sarcastically thought.
Raja was clinging onto me, with a peaceful expression on his face. I pat his head, which made him sink further into his pillow, and softly breathe out.
'Can't believe I agreed on him bunking next to me.
"You guys want me to sleep next to him?"
"Why not? You're probably stronger than Levi here, and you're taller than him too! He probably feels safer with you."
"Four eyes, shut up."
"Shirou? What do you think?"
"Hey… what's my qualification on this?" He defensively put his hands out.
"You have an adoptive father."
"Yeah, but… even with the nightmares, I never slept next to him."
"Though, he makes the cutest expressions when he slept next to you!" Hanji spoke.
'Then again, maybe not.' I smiled, as I saw how truly peaceful he looked then and there.
Using a pillow to substitute for me, I quietly made my way out of my bed, and made my way downstairs. At this point, it became almost a schedule.
I would wake up, and Levi, and sometimes Hanji, would be there, with Shirou there to stare daggers at either one of them. Hanji, or Senku, would be trying to do some kind of experiment that went over my head, and would try to explain it to me. However, this time, it didn't go completely over my head.
"Hanji, you already know that Levi can survive any kind of wound. Why are you purposefully still trying to stab him?"
"Ah. There you are, Rahul. Now, I'll need to inject this into you."
"Wait." I stared into her eyes. "What is it?"
"It'll make you regenerate limbs, like a titan! I design it from Levi's blood, and the experimentation that was carried out on his bloodline." She clinked the injection, and cleaned the needle, thanks to my, and Senku's, request.
"Levi's blood was surprisingly diluted. But thankfully, I was able to use his blood, and replicate and purify it from foreign bodies."
"Oi. That looks similar to the serum that Titans were made with."
"You're not completely wrong, Levi! Your family were Titan experiments, so you just have a diluted part of the spinal fluid inside your blood."
"Wait, won't my body treat it like a foreign body, and immediately kill it?"
I knew that, at least.
"Well, if you don't want to try it, you don't have to get an injection!" Senku looked at me with a crazed look in his eyes. I just ignored it, even if it did make me sweat.
"So… you're giving it to me?"
"Yes! You are the most valuable asset to us, second to Levi in strength! The only thing that is deficient is your healing. But perhaps with this…" she held the injection up, and both Senku and Hanji held it up to me.
"We can change that."
I sighed.
"Fine. Let's get it over with."
Hanji, surprisingly adept at injections, injected the purified blood into my bloodstream, lifting up my full sleeved shirt in the process.
At first, my arm got sore, and my heart rate instantly kicked into high gear. It was like I had just been seen by the god of death, and I was trying to fight his grasp on my heart.
Eventually, it settled, and I could breathe properly, and I stood normally.
"So, how can I tell that it worked?"
"... Roll up your sleeves again."
I did what I was told. I was shocked at what happened. The puncture into my skin formed over. It was like it never existed.
"So, it worked." Levi, whether he intentionally meant to or not, released a breath he was keeping in.
"Let's make sure, then!" Senku started bringing out torture materials, and I just looked annoyed.
"If you're going to do anything to me, make sure it's not fatal or painful."
"Okay. I'll do that, at least."
His knife, sharper than any knife I had, was cut deeply into my forearm, shoulder, and hand. My blood quickly spilled onto the floors of the deck.
'Let's hope this works.'
"Think of a goal, something you want to achieve, Rahul."
Hanji suggested that.
I closed my eyes, just trying to bring the faces of my previous families, who died for me.
My sister, and my second parents, I could remember. They took me in, when I was the most violent.
'Come to think of it, I… don't remember what I did then…'
I shifted my thoughts back to my goal.
'I… want to see them again.'
I heard a small gasp come out of someone's mouth.
I opened my eyes, and none of the wounds even stayed on my arm. They all disappeared into thin air. The blood, quite literally, did that, as steam rose from the blood that spilled.
"That's… exhilarating." Senku, along with Hanji, looked up with pride, lying down on the deck. Their hard work had paid off, and even at 4 in the morning, they didn't look tired.
"Now… no one else has to die." Hanji was the first to speak.
Senku sat up. "Wait. We don't know if this will work on everyone. Rahul's blood is different from the rest."
I just looked at him, confused.
"How did you know about my blood type? When did I give you my blood sample…"
The words died in my mouth when I realized it.
"Wait, did you take blood samples from me while I was asleep?!"
"Who said it was just from you?"
I felt like banging my head against the wall, hearing what Senku said.
"Fuck it. Whatever. What's different about my blood?"
"Well, firstly, if you were to give it to O blood individuals, it would immediately be rejected. Levi has an A- blood type. You have the same."
"And how common is that?"
Senku's eyes narrowed.
"It's not common. It's 10 billion percent rare. Less than 6 percent of people in your country have that blood type, and less than 3 percent of the world has your and Levi's blood type."
"Can't you replicate the DNA genome with something like Crispr?"
"Can you get me into a lab?" He grumbled.
I grumbled back.
"... Touche. I don't feel like getting onto any more government watch lists compared to what I am on now."
I looked over, not wanting to elaborate. Unfortunately, I didn't need to.
"You're what everyone calls the dark avenger, right Rahul?"
I looked at Hanji, not entirely surprised that she figured it out.
"Yeah. How'd you know?"
"Because I'd see you leave for some place, and the next day, the news would go on about how a dark avenger came in, and saved the day, despite how reckless and dangerous the situation was."
"If you knew about it, why didn't you stop me?"
Hanji was about to answer, but Levi raised his arm, preventing her from speaking.
"Kid, there's a lot of things I would stop you from doing, but playing hero isn't one of them."
Levi looked up, towards the sky.
"Some people do need a hero now…"
He whispered that under his breath, loud enough for us to hear it.
"I'm not playing hero."
"Really, brat… are you sure about that?"
Words like "brat" and "kid" were interchangeable with Levi. Which pissed me off.
"Yes. I want to actually do something with the strength I have."
Levi looked up at me, and sighed.
"If you wanted to be a hero, you'd do more than just being an unpaid police officer. You'd have to do something that's so amazing, that everyone will look up to you."
He backed me into a corner yet again.
"You'll have to be so strong that kids will look up to you, despite how annoying it might be for you. You're not that."
I couldn't argue with that.
The most I did was fill in for the police when they couldn't be around. None of that was particularly special.
I needed to do more.
I would do that, later that day.
In the evening, Raja and I went to Target, finally picking up the gifts we needed to get for Christmas.
I adjusted the mask on my face as we walked in.
"We have to get a lot of stuff here for Christmas. So stay close, Raja."
Raja nodded, as he softly held my hand.
I looked at him, and despite his saddened eyes… he looked at me with a certain shine in them, with the sign of hope and trust, something I never wanted to break.
I firmly held his hand and reinforced his look with my own.
'I won't leave you alone. Ever.'
That made his expression brighten, even if it added to my guilt.
'He's got to go to a real family, at some point. He can make new friends, new family. He won't… have a murderer to parent him.'
Those were the thoughts I had as I counted the cash in my wallet.
"100, 200, 300, 350. 400, 450, 455, 456, 457, 458... For gifts… I don't know if we can get gifts for everyone. Emma, Ray, Norman, Isabel, Farlan, Levi, Hanji, Erwin, Senku, Koharu, Shirou, Erina, Kousei, Sahara, Bertholdt, Annie, Iguro, Mitsuri, and Shoya. Plus, Iguro and Mitsuri have a kid coming up. Have to set up their baby shower, and everything. Not to mention, Emilia and Koharu are probably going to try for a kid soon with Senku."
I sighed, thinking about.
"Raja? What did you add to the cart?"
I saw him quickly drop something in the cart, before looking the other way, almost whistling.
"Hello? I asked you something, Raja. You don't hide things from me. Just tell me."
He sighed.
"I… was getting some chocolate for… Christmas… for everyone..."
He covered his head, almost like he was afraid of me hitting him. My expression, which was mostly neutral, fell, seeing him being afraid of me, still a year after I saved him.
'I mean… I guess I am still kind of scary.'
I forced a smile, just for him. He needed it, more than I did.
"You don't have to apologize for that. Just tell me next time. I'm not going to stop you from getting the things you want, within reason." I emphasized the last point.
"Just… don't hide things from me. Okay? Promise?"
He quickly nodded, seemingly not wanting to upset me.
'What was his life before he came with me?'
I wondered, but then something came up.
"KUNG FLU IS OVER! I CAN'T BE REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK. I WOKE UP IN A FREE COUNTRY, YOU SHEEPLE!"
I looked at the man who was yelling at the poor worker who was just doing their job.
"Excuse me sir, but I can't allow you to shop-"
The man coughed on the workers, and watched them try to cover their eyes and mouth.
"YOU'RE NOTHING MORE THAN SLAVES!" The man laughed in their faces, like some sadistic madman, who had no compassion whatsoever.
He was calling people sheep, for doing their jobs. For not wanting to die. For wanting to protect other people… the heroes and victims were being punish. My heart felt like it was in the hands of the devil, seeing what was happening, and not doing anything about it.
'Why does this keep happening? Why are the victims treated as the evil people?'
"Um… D… Da-"
I turned around, facing Raja's face.
Despite his stutter, he didn't look scared. In fact, he was enraged. It was unfair to him, for all these people to be treated as such. He knew that all too well.
I crouched down to him, on my knees.
"Raja, I've got to deal with this. Can I trust you to only pay for the things in the cart? I'll give you the card."
I took my card out of my pocket, and I kept it in Raja's hand, but I didn't let go of it yet.
"Promise, Raja?"
I looked him in the eyes, testing his resolve. He nodded back, with no lack of conviction or lies in his eyes.
"Good. I'll get you something if you do it right."
After a quick hug, I went to the man, who was towering over the workers.
"You're being too loud. It's Christmas week! Get some holiday spirit."
I ended up sounding cheerful. Which was the complete opposite of what I felt. He turned towards me, with rage in his eyes. I didn't flinch.
"I DON'T HAVE TO LISTEN TO YOU!"
"By that logic, you don't have to wear clothes do you? We still aren't allowed to smoke inside her, are we?"
My cheerful tone had been replaced with a sneer.
"Who's the cattle now? The person doing their jobs, or the man being a jackass and making everyone's life worse, and not following basic procedure, just because he wants to be different, and wants to feel special?"
He tried coughing on me, but I just dodged it. Before he could even breath in to laugh at me, dodging his "attack", I kicked the back of his knees. He crashed to the ground, with his arms keeping his head from splitting open.
He groaned from the kick, but I didn't give him time to whine.
"Stop complaining. You're a wimp or something? Complains with a kid knocking him down."
He tried to get up, but I kept him down with my foot. The workers looked at me like I was treading on a serpent.
"I'm sorry to ask this of you, workers, but do you have any wire hangers?"
In a few seconds, they handed me a few hangers, and I tied it around his hands.
"You are under arrest, for battery, assault, and terroristic threats, as well as crimes against humanity."
He seemed shocked with those charges.
"WHAT? ARE YOU A COP?"
"First, bring your volume down. Calm down. Secondly, it's called Citizen's arrest. Heard of that? Or are you only concerned about your rights, and not everyone else's?"
"GET… OFF ME!"
I ignored him, and continued to tie him up.
"It's problematic a lot of times, but this time, it helps the average citizen do something right. You were spreading a disease around, and I have the right to stop that."
His legs were soon wrapped with a clothesline, keeping him from even moving an inch without it digging into his leg.
"While I can't go on to take down every domestic terrorist in this country, I'm able to deal with man-childs and Karens fairly easily, considering they are all talk."
He tried shaking me off, but I just pressed further on his wrists with my foot.
He groaned in pain, but he didn't deserve the right to complain about his situation. He put that on himself.
As did I, for the murders I did.
We were similar in that regard, at least.
"You are going to prison for a long time."
He, in a last ditch effort, pushed me off, and tried to run.
But he immediately fell to the floor again, and I almost pitied him with the looks he got.
"I'm assuming you have already called the cops, correct?" I looked at the worried workers, who were on the phone, and nodded.
"Good. Mind if I talk to this guy? You guys are probably going to want to socially distance from here."
They quickly nodded, and immediately tried to quarantine the area off.
"Here's a mask."
I handed him an extra mask I had in my jacket pocket.
He spit on it.
"I'm not going to take that."
"Why not? You don't have a medical condition, we still have a while till vaccines get distributed, and we still have covid rates climbing in the country."
"Because… I am free. I was born free."
I tried not to laugh at him, but it came out anyways.
"So, you think wearing a mask is restricting your freedoms?"
He didn't flinch.
"So… you'd rather see your family get sick and die from this."
This time, my anger wasn't masked.
"It's not even that big of a deal. This is all fake. You are blindly following what they are telling you, for nothing. So they can control you."
My eyes hardened to his baseless claims.
"Tell that to the millions of people that have died… or the 3 and a half billion people that were killed years ago by Thanos."
His eyes widened, and he finally got shook to the core.
"That's what your precious freedom did for you. It killed a lot of families. Because one man felt he was free to kill half of the universe due to something he decided was right. You really want to be in the same category as that terrorist?"
He was speechless.
But… he wanted to speak more.
"But… I'm NOT THANOS!"
"You were going to spread a virus around that would have killed dozens of people that they would have been in contact with. By your will… you were going to spread death to a lot of people, because you wanted freedom over anything else… even the lives of everyone who had died that day."
I saw people around me, through the corner of my eyes, holding their cell phones, taking pictures and videos of me.
I drew a crowd, without even knowing it, but I ignored it.
"Thanos has already killed enough people. We need to move on. Continue forward. Care for the people who still are alive with us. Otherwise… At what cost did your actual freedom come at? The lives of millions of others? Billions? No."
I looked at it on youtube, labeled, "Young boy talks down anti masker, and makes him wear a mask on his way to jail."
'Might be competing with light novels with how long their titles are.'
"Quite a speech you gave there, brat. That's not what I meant, though."
"Wow. Rahul is pretty cool!"
The orange haired girl looked at me with rose tinted glasses over her eyes.
"You could have gotten Covid, you oaf."
"You tested me here. I'm clean." I deadpanned to the spring onion person next to me.
"Yeah, so?" He stuck his pinky up his ear, scooping out ear wax.
"He's right." The one eyed scientist joined in. "You have to be careful. We don't have the immunity you do, Rahul."
I sighed, but I nodded.
"Anyways, let's get ready for dinner. We need to prepare for Christmas and Levi's birthday, which is-"
I lifted my hands up to my hands to stretch, but Levi grabbed my hand.
"Oi."
Levi grabbed my hand, lifting up a burn on my right hand.
"Huh? What are you doing?"
"Did you do this to him, four eyes?"
"No." She simply responded.
"What about you, kid?"
"Relax. I didn't touch him with anything hot."
Instead of relaxing, Levi's eyes widened further with anxiety, and for once… I saw fear, genuine fear in his eyes.
"Shit. This is happening even here." Quickly, he turned towards the basement, gripping my hand like he was keeping me from falling. "Shirou! Get up here now!"
"What? Levi..." He quickly walked to me, but as soon as he saw the back of my hand, he understood.
"So… seems like that's happening in this universe."
"What? What are you talking about-"
As soon as Shirou touched my own hand, I saw memories of a war.
Three different girls, and all different outcomes.
But one central thing was across all of them.
A war across time, with everyone trying to obtain a weapon capable of anything the user decides it to do, the holy grail.
One that… required sacrifices.
"Rahul?"
I clutched my head, jumping to the door with the horrific things I saw.
"AGGHHHH!"
I felt my entire brain cracking from the horror of seeing everyone dying over and over again inside my head. Kids, parents, everyone had been hurt by a war.
"What?! What did you do to him, Shirou?!"
"I… I didn't do anything!"
I threw up in my mouth, something I didn't ever expect to do again. Illya, a person I never knew… dying after losing her sight, and dying to save her brother she barely knew. Arthoria, a person I didn't know, hating herself, as she couldn't save her country from ruin. Sakura, a person I heard the name of… being raped, once again, in front of my eyes by someone I knew.
Kariya, Lancelot, Iskandar, more names I didn't know personally, all died during this war.
For the ability to wish for humanity.
"What is... the holy grail war?" I eventually settled down, controlling the utter disgust I felt. I asked a question I already knew.
Shirou's eyes widened, as he looked at me, languidly leaning against the wall.
"I saw… everyone. "
I pushed myself up that wall, once again.
"I saw Sakura, Illya, Arthoria, Rin. All of them."
"How… do you know those names?"
His eyes welled up with tears after hearing what I said, but he quickly wiped those tears off his face.
"What are you guys talking about?"
I felt my heart become much heavier after what I saw, but I still stood straight.
"They are people who suffered, but... Shirou, being a hero, saved them."
I chuckled midway through the sentence. I not only felt what he saw, but his feelings as well. I knew he truly believe he didn't saved any of them.
"But… the important thing is, I'm going to have to take part in whatever the hell the holy grail war is. I'll be able to get the wish to bring back the entire past."
"WHAT?! You only came back two months ago! You can't go already! Plus, you have school after winter break!"
"Yeah…" I couldn't contradict what Emma said.
"The brat needs to do it. If he doesn't, he'll lose the chance to bring back his family."
Levi's eyes softened, as he looked back at me.
"If I got the chance to spend just… a minute with my mom again, I'd take that chance, no matter the cost."
Levi whispered that, but all of us heard it.
"He might not even come back!" Emma cried out.
People poured out from the basement and the upper room, looking at what was now happening.
"I've trained him."
He looked back at me, with a sense of pride in his voice.
"He won't die. I've made sure of that."
I nodded.
"Yeah. If there's anything Shinji knows, he sure knows how to stay alive."
Shirou liked to pick fun at him.
Shirou's eyes looked at Levi, but it wasn't antagonistic anymore. It was almost a deadpan.
"Yeah, I guess you're right. I always found a way for someone to save me, or save myself."
He smiled halfway, but then quickly brought it down in shame.
"Though, how do you have this already? You don't have magi bloodline, do you?" Shirou asked.
"I… don't know. I was adopted twice, but I don't resemble any of those bloodlines."
For some reason, I kept remembering the blonde haired girl, with ice cold blue eyes.
I had only seen them once, but… they were so familiar to me, and I couldn't think about why.
"It doesn't matter."
He looked at me.
"You have the chance to bring back all of humanity with this. Don't screw it up."
"Yeah."
I stood up, off the wall.
"Though, when will it be?"
"It could be tomorrow, or years from now."
"What? Why? Why such a large range?" I spoked, bewildered.
"I don't come up with the rules. The holy grail does." Levi spoke.
"Though, you're probably on the closer end, because it's unlikely, since you have no magus blood, that you have gotten it 3 years ahead of time." Shirou spoke.
"Fair enough, I guess. So it means it'll happen soon, right?"
"Uh… guys?"
Ray and Norman came down, with their hands behind their backs.
Bertholdt, Annie, Koharu, Erwin, and dozens more entered the dining room.
"We… found something." Ray looked to the side.
"Huh?"
"We found it in a drawer, while we were trying to clean the house. We found it right when you came back." Norman lifted his hands out from behind his back, and lifted the letter in front of me.
"We didn't read it, but it looked pretty special. It has your name on it."
I gently took the envelope out of her hands, and even though it was an ordinary looking one, I opened it up, seeing my name on the back.
There were two letters inside that I saw, so I chose the older looking one.
I wish I had found that letter earlier in my life.
"Hello, Rahul! We just celebrated your 4th birthday!"
It was… a small picture of me, and my first family.
The couple that took me in when I was young… and protected me with their last breath.
It had been so long since I had seen their faces. My mom's soft smile, my dad's gruff expression.
I started to remember them.
"We love you! No matter what, we love you. Please make sure you remember this, reading it."
'Sounds… like her.'
The pieces of my first family that were just about losing themselves to me, slowly by slowly came back.
"But, here's something that you probably won't remember. You started to make weapons!"
"Eh?!"
I ignored Hanji's confusion, and kept reading.
"Imagine how shocked I was when you accidentally created a sword in your sleep! At first, I thought your dad had gotten it, and handed it to you. But then, while we were arguing, we saw you making them, almost by instinct. It was like you made them out of thin air."
I imagined her, writing this with a smile on her face.
"We knew that you were someone special, but we didn't expect this!"
As I saw it, I remembered certain things being created. Old memories, my own, finally came back to me.
"So, eventually, we stored all your weapons at home, in a secret compartment that no one could get. You made quite a collection at home."
I heard that laugh, from my first mother. The one I hadn't seen for over a decade.
"Eventually, you started not only making weapons, but also some other things, like compartments that look like they hold long, thin box cutters, and a gas powered movement device. It looks like you could fly with it, but we didn't want to test that out."
My eyes widened again.
"How can you create, or summon, that before you even know who we are, let alone what the 3d maneuver gear is?"
Hanji voiced my exact question. She clutched her head, confused beyond belief.
"Ignore her, brat. Keep reading."
Then, I spoke in my dad's voice.
"So, we have a huge stockpile of all the weapons you made. Also, we rented out a compartment, because you also created a jet! An SR71 jet to be specific. Man, it's sad they discontinued those things. Even though renting a space for it would have it come out of our paychecks… we thought it was important to keep them safe because it came from you."
'Why… did you think I was so important?'
I kept reading.
"We know that you might be given this letter later in life, but we wanted to tell you, because we don't know whether we will be around. Someone will probably come to hurt you, but we'll make sure no one does."
'Did they know they were going to be killed someday? Is that why he came after me?'
That man… he wanted my power. He… still managed to control me.
"Anyways, happy birthday! Thank you for coming into our lives!"
Without even saying anything, Levi came in.
"It's not your fault."
I swallowed, guilt filling my throat.
"If I didn't create those weapons, they could still be alive…"
"You can't control it. It's not your fault. Don't regret something you had no control over."
He stared into my eyes, making sure to set me straight.
"But…"
"Nothing. You can't regret something that you weren't responsible for doing. You didn't kill your first family. That murderer did."
After breathing in, and slowly calming down, I put on a strong front.
"Okay. But… what about this war?"
"So, it might seem like you are more connected to this war then you thought." Shirou quietly spoke.
"The only thing I could think of is you having the ability, "unlimited blade works". But… they mention other things, like things that aren't weapons. A jet… I've never been able to create that, nor summon that, in any time. So… it might be a variant of unlimited blade works, mixed with … the gate of babylon. But… it's unclear what ability you have."
I found a key inside the letter, with the address written there."
"One second. I'll ask Tony."
I rang his cellphone, and he immediately picked up.
"Yeah, Rahul?"
"Hey. I might be able to create weapons out of thin air…"
"Cool. Very cool. As if you wielding a super suit that I custom made for you wasn't enough."
He sarcastically said.
I just rolled my eyes.
"So, my first family, they had stored all of my weapons at this address, I'll send it to you now."
I sent him the address, and saw it say, "Delivered" then "Read".
"So, what do you want me to do?"
"The house, it's still technically under my name, since my old family were kind of alone, but since I wasn't old enough, it was repossessed by the bank. Can you buy it?"
"Why not just have me buy the bank?"
I wasn't sure if he was sarcastic then. Probably wasn't.
"Well, you don't have to."
"Nope. I made a promise to help you out, and if you wanted anything, to call me. So, I'll do exactly that."
"..." I wasn't sure whether to get on my knees to thank him, or to narrow my eyes.
"No need to thank me, or whatever."
I sighed.
"Thank you."
I heard him snort on the line.
"Anyways, the Joshua family, right?"
"Yeah. That family."
The family name I hadn't heard in so long.
"I'll get it by the day after tomorrow. Alright? Meet me there."
"Okay. Thanks, Tony. Really."
I heard him break into a small smile, over the line.
"Don't mention it, kid."
The line quickly went quiet.
"I'll be going to war. Whenever that happens."
I heard groans, from the kids.
"But, for now…"
I smiled at all of my family.
They looked so different.
But they all stayed under the same roof, and ate the same food.
They all were my family.
"Let's enjoy our time together."
Everyone cheered, and we made space on the tables, for everyone to eat, plus outside.
The lights illuminated the darkness outside, and thanks to Senku, no insects came.
Eventually, we brought out the huge turkey, butterflied and all.
But, as I ate, I could only look around.
