Chris and Chef had made their way inside of the building from before, revealing it to be a run down manor. They glanced about the foyer, walking slowly as the boards creaked beneath their feet. Chef gulped in fear, trembling as he swore he could've heard people whispering throughout the building, despite the fact that he couldn't see anybody. Chris rolled his eyes at his co-host, approaching a conveniently placed table in the middle of the room and setting down the applications, scattered so only ten of them could be seen in their full glory.
"So, kinda neat that the wind just picked a good cast for us, eh, buddy?" Chris asked Chef, looking over at him to see that he was still a shivering mess, "Oh, toughen up, big guy! You're really gonna let a little storm in an old village scare you so easily?
"Nah, man," Chef muttered weakly, "This ain't no regular village, this place is haunted or some crap."
"Hm, haunted...village...Chef, that's great! We could totally name the season Haunted Village, you know, have a bunch of ghost-inspired challenges, I think Halloween is gonna fall on one of those days while we're here, so we can definitely do something for that!"
"Man, I don't think we should be here. Some ghosts are gonna mess us up for getting in their business."
"Relax you big baby! We've got another assistant coming to lend us a hand while we're here, so you have nothing to worry about."
"Assistant?"
"Yeah, her name is Mallary Russell. I guess she's that nasty Colleen's mother or something like that."
"I don't wanna deal with another Colleen! Girl's a major control freak."
"Whatever man, come here and look at our cast with me!"
Chef sighed, approaching the table that Chris was standing at and looking down at the ten face-up applications scattered about. Five boys and five girls, each nothing like any of the others they had seen before.
"Huh...a bunch of oddballs in this group," the co-host mumbled, "Katniss Monroe? Girl looks like she's been living with the wolves!"
"You know, oddly enough," Chris spoke up, a smirk on his face, "She did grow up in a jungle. Kinda funny how the appearance really tells it all, isn't it? This guy, Pen Packer, totally a wimp! You can tell by giving him one good look over."
"Heh, he does seem kinda shrimpy, now that you mention it. Though, I can't say that that kid over there has hit the gym once in his life."
Chef gestured to another application, which Chris looked over at, narrowing his eyes at the long name on it.
"Winfred James Bartleby Lattimore the Fourth, geez, what a mouthful! Let's just call him Winnie for short."
"Uh, that might get a little confusing...check out the...um...'girl' next to him."
"Eh? Vinnie Berry...is that a bear costume!?"
"I dunno man, I'm starting to think that these are probably some of the weirdest contestants I've ever laid my eyes on!"
"I'll say, though we have had our fair share of weirdos in the past."
"Fair enough. What about this kid, Rico Castillo?"
"Hm...looks like a friendly guy, but he's another plant type...urk, remember Bella?"
"Do I remember her!? Yeah! She was crazy!"
"Hang on, here's someone who seems kind of normal...Jessica Johnson. Oh...she's a teen mom!"
"Ah, that can't be a great feeling. How old is the kid?"
"Just one right now...his name is Jeremy."
"JJJ, man, they love their J names."
"Heheh, look out, Chef. It looks like there's another culinary master on their way here."
"What!? Freddie Franks!? Man, if some teen cook thinks he can come in and steal my spotlight-"
"Relax, fella. Let's just see what the kid is like before we pass any rude judgements on him. Let's see...what about this girl? Rose Marie de Jarjayes?"
"How...how did you pronounce that?"
"I dunno, it just came naturally to me, I guess. She seems to be of the noble type, what do you think about that?"
"Eh, these teens are all the same, noble or not. All they want to do is make our lives miserable."
"Give them some credit, some of them could really pull through and make this interesting. Like this boy, Leon Williams. He's one of those musical types, but I'm getting this strange vibe from him. Seems like he could really cause some chaos, and I looooooove chaos!"
"Speaking of chaos...does anything seem familiar to you about this other girl?"
"Huh? Which one?"
"Yvette Razz."
"Hm..."
Chris squinted at the application, looking over it to try and see what Chef was talking about.
"I'm not sure...but now that you mention it, she does kinda worry me. I can't really explain why, though!"
"Well, anyway...we should probably look at the other ten applications, right?"
"Yeah, get ready to meet the rest of our contestant-"
Chris was cut off by the door to the building opening. The men both looked over at it to see a woman standing there, one with pale skin, reddish-brown eyes, and silvery hair done in a French braid. She wore a white tuxedo, with a black dress shirt underneath the jacket and a white tie to match.
"Gentlemen, it's nice to make your acquaintance," she greeted them in a sweet tone, "I'm Mallary. Mallary Russell."
"Oh, the assistant!" Chris chuckled, "You're here already? That was fast!"
"I do try to be punctual, it helps us all, doesn't it?"
"Uh...yeah," Chef mumbled, noticing something oddly familiar about the woman.
"I'm quite excited to be able to work along the two of you...quite excited indeed."
So these ten are our first cast picks, but just because your character is not up there at the moment doesn't mean we didn't pick them! There are still ten more spots for OCs in this story, and as things stand currently, we need more male OC submissions!
