Steven was curious why Connie's mother had called him and the rest of the crystal gems to the hospital to see Connie, after all, she had said just yesterday after the mini gem injector accident, that she didn't want them near Connie anytime soon, but if she had changed her mind, the better for him, after all he did really like Connie.
After they entered the hospital room where Connie and her mother were, they were immediately approached by the mother who seemed really worried…
"Oh, thank god, you finally came." Said Connie's mother with a worried face.
This made sort of behavior made Steven and the crystal gems curious about what was going on.
"What is the problem…is Connie okay?" Asked a now worried Steven.
"that's what I would like to know." Said the mother still with a worried face.
"What happened to Connie?" Asked Steven and Pearl in unison.
"Look at it yourselves." Said Connie's mother with a stressed tone of voice.
Then Steven and the crystal gems got closer to Connie's hospital bed and saw her with a very worried look in her face.
"Oh Steven, Pearl, Amethyst and Garnet, thank you all for coming." Said her with a small smile.
"What is the problem, Connie? Are you feeling, okay?" Asked a concerned Steven.
"I'm feeling okay…the problem is…I show you." said Connie before showing her shoulder to Steven and the gems, revealing something that they were not expecting…
"Is that…" said steven before being interrupted by Pearl who said…
"A gem…a pearl to be exact…but how?"
"I don't know…I thought you guys would have an idea, about what is going on with me." said a somewhat stressed Connie.
"Sorry…but we don't." Said Pearl.
"Oh, come on." Said an even more stressed Connie, close to crying.
"Hey don't stress…we will call Peridot…she will know what is going on." Said Steven, trying to comfort Connie.
"Really?" Asked Connie while trying to hold her tears.
"Really." Answered Steven with a smile.
An hour later:
"I don't know what is going on." Said Peridot while looking at pearl in Connie's shoulder.
"What." Said a yet again stressed Connie.
"Sorry…but this never happened before…a gem was never grown in an organic being body…did you guys tried to remove it?" Said the little green gem.
"Yes, we tried…but every time we did it, Connie felt immense pain and her heart beat skyrocket, so we decided not to do it." Said the mother.
"Okay…let me do a little body scan." Said Peridot before picking a small device that she had built, and scanning the girl with it.
The little green gem then looked at the scanning device and…
"Oh interesting…very interesting…and very odd." Said Peridot with a surprised face.
"What did you find?" Asked Connie now with a curious tone of voice.
"The pearl that you have in your shoulder…is not just stuck there…it is also connected to your nervous system, it's like is part of your body. Said Peridot.
"What…is there anything you can do to remove it?" Said Connie's mother, now really worried.
"Sorry…but like I said, its connected to her nervous system…remove it would be fatal for her." Said the little green gem with a serious face.
"What…no it cannot be." Said Connie more stressed than ever.
"Connie calm down…we are going to find solution for this…I promise." Said Steven, trying to calm her down.
"I don't believe you." said a now crying Connie.
Then in that precise moment Connie's pearl started to glow.
"What?" shouted everyone present, surprised by what was going on.
Then from Connie's gem a holographic projection (Similar to the ones that pearl used.) appeared.
"A hologram?" Said a surprised Connie, not believing what she was seeing.
The hologram then started to show multiple images, all from past adventure that Connie had with Steven and the crystal gems.
"Wait are those… "Said Steven before being interrupted by Connie who said…
"Those are my memories…but how?" Said a surprised and confused Connie.
"What is going on?" Asked Connie's mother now freaking out, after seeing holographic projection coming from the strange pearl in her daughter shoulder.
Then the hologram finally disappeared and everyone was left with questions.
"What was that?" Asked Connie's mother, now very worried.
"Cool, it looked just like one of Pearl's holograms." Said Amethyst with a smile on her face.
"Yes, it looked just like Pearl's holograms." Said Garnet with her usual emotionless voice.
Meanwhile Connie, Steven and Pearl simply didn't say anything, still trying to comprehend what was going on.
While that was happening, Peridot seemed incredibly shocked, and then she said…
"Incredible…the pearl in her body seems to be functional…do you guys know what that means."
"No…what it means?" Asked a curious and shocked Connie.
"It means that my experiment worked…take that Pearl…I Peridot, created the first eco-friendly gem…or at least a partly gem."
"What you mean by that…I'm a human." Said Connie.
"Oh please…right now you cannot be considered human…at best you are Gem hybrid like Steven, at worst you are…"said the little green gem before being interrupted by Connie who said with a shocked tone of voice…
"A gem…I'm a gem."
"Yes, a pearl to be exact…welcome to gemhood dear Connie…oh I'm such a genius." Said a very enthusiastic and proud Peridot unaware that of how Connie was feeling.
Connie then putted her hands in each side of her head and said with a stressed and sad tone of voice…
"I'm no longer human…now what?"
"Connie please don't cry." Said Steven feeling very bad for Connie.
"But how…I'm no longer the same person…not even the same species." Said a very sad Connie.
Then Pearl approached the girl and said…
"Don't worry Connie."
"Why?" Asked Connie while holding her tears.
"Because I will help you get use to this." Answered Pearl with a smile to the girl she considered her student.
"Really?" Asked Connie again, now not crying.
"Yes…promise from a Pearl to another." Said Pearl with a smile.
"And I promise will help you as well, and the rest of the crystal gem also promise as well, right guys." Said Steven with a smile on his face.
"Yes, we promise." Said the rest of the crystal gems in unison.
Connie after hearing this, cleaned her tears from her face and hugged both Steven and Pearl and said…
"Thank you, guys."
