Chapter 2

"Captain Subaru."

Subaru, the name of there friend echoed through the theater. The viewers sitting down hesitantly as they could only watch in suspense.

Emilia clung to him so tightly, her lips pursed as she could only watch the one she loved struggle so much. She adjusted her hold as she wished to not hold him, though there was something in the bottom of her stomach.

Lugo, Adams, and Subaru both peered down as they watched the remains of the US soldiers, their bodies lying face first on the sand. Small birds pecking and ripping away at their rotting skin that glistened from the red sun.

Petra clutched closer to Frederica as she struggled to look away, frozen in time as she could only watch the white seagulls delve deep into the corpses of the men.

Rem hugged her hero as she panned at the screen. Fear of what her Subaru had to go through and what he would have to confront. Emilia, her grip could only tighten as she stared at him. His face before still ingrained into her mind.

The way her Subaru looked as he slaughtered his enemies. "Why…Subaru." She began to slowly cry as she tucked her head into his shoulder. "You could of have told me about this. Why do you always have to suffer alone?"

Beatrice could only stare at the screen…her contractor sitting completely still as she struggled to not cry tears of sadness in front of everyone. She wanted to be there for him, she wanted him to know that he could rely on her.

Julius and Anastasia turned their eyes away from the screen. Many of the other viewers following suite, seeing those birds consume human corpses was just too much.

"Goddamn it Lugo, we're too late." Subaru swallowed his spit as he forced the rag over his mouth. His face contorted in disgust and shame as they could only walk forward.

"He's focused on the mission, still even after seeing all that…" Wilhelm muttered.

Crusch could only look at the nasty eyed boy as she glanced up at the screen. "Why…Subaru?" She knew enough of the boy due to the viewings, but this was too much for him to carry. "Wasn't your mission completed, aren't you meant to return back home now and ask for help?"

The duchess pondered her words as she shook her head a faint smile over her face. "No, you will save this Konrad and you will come back safety. I know you and your skill enough, that I am a fool for saying that you would not try and save them.

Otto and Garf could only stare as their captain moved forward. Visibly repulsed by the sight as they stared ahead.

Adam's holstered his massive weapon across his hip as he peered at his captain. Subaru, staring ahead and moving forward as he pushed on. His eyes focused solely in front of him.

"Listen, something obviously went terribly wrong here and it is our duty to figure it out." Subaru shouted back to the two men. A dust storm starting to form as the men prepared their goggles and rags.

"No, it isn't…Barasu." Ram spoke as she stared at the screen.

Rem glanced up towards her sister. "Sissy, Subaru…is just trying to help. What else could he do…"

"Yeah, this is something else…everything is out of control. I am not doubting Subaru, but this is just far too much for the kids pay grade." Al put in his own input. He could understand why Subaru was doing it, and apart of him agreed with Subaru's actions. Though, to deal with this was far too much.

Julius glanced steadily ahead. "It's strange…why is he going this far?"

Adam's smirked at his captain. "Konrad, we're heading for him right. I know you're a good man Subaru and we'll follow you to the end."

"Damn right, Captain." Lugo effortlessly responded.

"Thank you…you're the best men I could ever ask for. Thank you for being here with me." Subaru turned back. An obvious smile plastered across his face but was hidden from the mask.

Frederica glanced at the trio as she could not hold back her smile. Reminiscing on the half elfs knight and his own comrades in this world. Otto and Garf both stared enviously at the two men that his friend cared for so much.

Though, many in the room were now holding Frederica's same thoughts. Subaru, ever since he came to this world has never mentioned anything about his past, or about these two men that he fought with.

They broke into a faint building complex as the men began to remove there fabric only for…

"Get down!"

Subaru's command reached their ears as the three men leaped for cover. The refugees opening fire with their own guns. "Lugo…" Subaru screamed at his companion, his own weapon spitting lead at the enemies. "RPG guy, take him out!"

"Oh, no!" Crusch spat out as she watched the roaring gunfire continue. The fear of Subaru getting placed in danger once again overwriting everyone's emotions from the prior wholesome event.

"How are you getting out of this one?" The clown recollected to himself as he watched with an eager smile.

Priscilla simply stared behind her fan. Still unentertained as she watched the boy fight for his life. Al could only glance at the princess before drawing himself back towards the screen. The miniature war unfolding as Subaru fought for his life.

"Got it!" Lugo yelled back. Pulling out a weapon from his back as he aimed, a distinct red light coming from the weapon as he fired. The camara panned as the bullet, brutally entered the man's left eye and blown through his skull.

There was a roar of shivers that went through the crowd from the brutal display. Felt hid inside of her knight as she saw the brutal display of violence.

The twins could only stare open mouthed as the mans head exploded into paste. Like a watermelon being thrown off a tall building.

Adam's pulled the pin from an object on his vest. His hand throwing it like a rock as it bounced on the other side. The enemies getting a bright white flash in their eyes as they could only watch as the sight simply disoriented them.

"That weapon, I suppose functions like a shammac. It disorients the opponent." Beatrice mused to the crowd as they stared jaw dropped at the small weapon.

Anastasia's eyes opened wide from wonder, trying to analyze all the pieces of equipment that Subaru and his comrades held. "It's insane that Natsuki's world has all these wonderful inventions…if we were ever to…"

"That would be a horrible idea."

They turned towards Al as the man stared at the screen. His helmet rendering his expression emotionless. "…and why is that?" The merchant princess spoke, her voice filled with sarcasm as she stared at the knight.

Al heaved as his hand went to his helmet. "You really are an idiot…aren't you." He cocked his head forward as he glanced down at the young candidate.

The words came out cold and uncompromising. Al, the most silent person out of the group and the most mysterious just insulted a royal candidate. Priscilla, her eyes narrowed at her knight as a faint grin formed across her face. "Finally, something entertaining…"

"You fool, how dare you!" Julius shouted as he tried to stare down at Al.

Al huffed as he waved off the knight. "Relax buddy, but those weapons and equipment your mistress is talking about isn't for show. Those are some pretty powerful stuff that can be used by any average joe, trust me…you open up pandoras box and find something that you don't like in there, it's too late to close it."

Julius tilted his head. "Pandora's…box?"

Emilia's eyes opened sharply as she registered Al's words. Her amethyst eyes dancing towards there conversation as the rest viewed them. Memories of Pandora sparking in her mind like a spent flame.

"It's an old legend from me and Subaru's world. About a young woman who was tasked with holding a box which contained all the sins of mankind, she got curious one day and opened it to see what was inside."

"Opened them?" Garf repeated as he grew more interest in the story. Wondering why his captain would keep a cool story away from him.

Al sighed as he stared at the crowd. "She released all the cruelties onto this world and pitched it in darkness."

There was a sigh that rolled off the tongues of the viewers as the story sounded familiar. The story of the jealous witch destroying the world.

"Though, Al…" Otto awkwardly scratched his limbs. "What does it matter. Wouldn't bringing some of Subaru's worlds stuff greatly help our own, look at Hoshin."

"Yes, in fact the man did many things and brought many ways of helping the people of Karagari." Beatrice spoke, though she pointed her finger towards Otto. "Though, Hoshin himself decided against bringing such items."

The silence echoed as the viewers recognized what Beatrice was speaking about. Hoshin, another man who was summoned to another world just like Al and Subaru who would later lay the foundation for an empire.

With his inventions he transformed a mess of villages into a thriving country that may very well be able to rival Luginica. Though, Hoshin never created or introduced such weaponry. Possibly due to not knowing how they work or not having the necessary resources…or he was just too scared to bring them into this world.

"I still don't understand." Julius sighed as his gloved hands went through his hair.

"What I'm trying to say is that I know the type of weapons that Subaru and our world has. Would you really feel comfortable knowing all the other countries have access to that, a mini sword saint at the palm of their hands? How the witch cult could wield these weapons that could make them a force far more troublesome than before?"

The words resounded through the viewers heads as they went back to the screen. Al's realization dawning on them as they could only stare back at the screen.

Adams picked up his weapon and fired. His gun spitting fire as it cleanly chewed away at the three refugees in sight. There limbs getting blown to shreds, their faces melting away.

"Disgusting…" Priscilla spoke as she turned her head away.

The duchess and Wilhelm could only stare as they watched Subaru's comrades make short work of there enemies. Wilhelm, his eyes glossing over the screen from the brutality of the weapons that Subaru and his comrades used.

"Maybe he is right, maybe some things should stay in Barasu's world." Ram whispered to herself as she leaned closer to the clown.

After they fell there was a distinct silence that echoed throughout the building. The only sound that could be heard was the strange sounds of the dust that echoed from outside.

The men got out of the building as more enemies gathered around them. "It's an ambush, move!" He screamed to his comrades as they leaped to cover. An array of bullets heading towards them as all they could do was sit still.

"Big bro!" Felt cried out as she saw Subaru collapse.

Garf, his body shaking as he planted himself into his chair. "A shield…don't make me laugh, what shield."

His mind wondered as he could only stare at his knees. Feeling useless for letting his captain suffer without his help.

Subaru, his weapon echoing from his hands as he efficiently shot down a couple of the refugees. Lugo and Adams picking more off with their grenades and sniper.

A dust storm…

A red palleted screen came into view as a dark red maroon was casted. Bits of sand began to cloud the screen as Subaru and his comrades could hardly tell what was going on. More enemies began to surround them.

"Subaru, he is getting flanked!" Wilhelm screamed as the viewers wore the mask of terror.

"Subaru, please…I, can't!" Emilia screamed as her trembling voice wailed. Subaru, the boy she loved was now in danger once again, was that all his life was?

Danger, horror…pain? Emilia wailed as she threw her tear-streaked face into the boy's chest. The despair emanating all around as Subaru and his comrades getting surrounded.

The screen panned to Subaru, showing the sand breaking underneath him.

"Big bro!" Felt cried out as the sand fell. The twins hands reaching out into the air like they were willing to catch Subaru, only for him to fall anyways.

In a singular second the sand collapsed and revealed a dark hole growing underneath him as Subaru gripped a piece of concrete with his left hand to hold himself up.

"Subaru, please don't die." Rem pleaded as she hugged her hero closer. Beatrice tucking herself farther in Subaru's arms as she struggled to hold back her tears.

Julius could only stare at Subaru on the screen…dangling as he used his weapon with one hand as he so desperately fought for his life. He scowled in shame, for looking down on such a good man before he knew the truth. "I never deserved to call you a friend."

He quickly wiped his eyes as he scanned the crowd until…

"Lugo, Adams!" Subaru screamed out as more enemies began to surround him.

His weapon in his other hand firing into his enemies as he frantically fought to survive the endless onslaught of his opponents.

"How long can Subaru keep on going like this…it's so cruel." Ricardo spoke, his eyes softly drooping as he could not look at the screen anymore.

Roswell could only snicker as he so desperately watched Subaru fight back against the men. A smile stretching ear to ear as he watched the boy struggle.

Until his hand slipped…and he fell into the darkness.
