"Kryptonian cells absorb sunlight, that's what charges your powers. But without exposure to sunlight you have no powers. The Harun-El gives people the ability to heal without Sunlight as well as other powers, it doesn't change their cell structure. But what I am saying is that Harun-El combined with Kryptonian blood is Platinum Kryptonite." Lena explained, excited. I am confused why she contacted me about this discovery. The Deo will definitely want to be informed of this. Wait she said "Kryptonian cells absorb sunlight, that's what charges your powers.". Which means she has figured out that I AM SUPERGIRL!.
"You know that I am Supergirl! how long have you known?"I ask, shocked.
"Ever since you used your heat vision on my alien detector." She answered, smugly. She probably had security cameras hidden in her office. Ugh.. why didn't I think about that? Alex is going to go into her protective mode, and she may arrest Lena. Who am I kidding? She will arrest her as soon as she finds out.
"What!" I yelled, even more surprised. "Why did you say anything?"
"Because I knew you had your reasons for not telling me, at first I thought it was because of my last name. Then as our friendship progressed I realized that you were just trying to protect me. Also the 'I flew here on a bus.' Was another dead giveaway." She answered, sincerely. I knew it, that sound wrong after I told her that excuse.
"You know that you are going to have to sign so many NDA's?" I remarked, seriously.
"Yes, and I have no problem signing them. However, what I do have a problem with is you being supergirl without someone by your side." She commented, coldly. I looked at her and smiled at her concern.
"I have Alex and the Deo backing me up." I say, trying to lessen her worry.
"But you don't have another Kryptonian to step in when you are injured or solar flare." She points out. "That's why I have been researching Platinum Kryptonite, So I could become Kryptonian."
"Lena, you already have numerous enemies if you were to become a Kryptonian. That number would triple within a week, I wouldn't be able to protect you as much as I do now." I remark, worried.
"I know that Kara, but I am tired of feeling defenseless. If I inject myself with Platinum Kryptonite, and become kryptonian. I could help you even more, think about it. National City would be safer than ever before." She explained, revealing her intentions with her discovery. "Kara, I came to National City for a fresh start. I have helped you save this city and world multiple times. But I am tired of being on the sidelines, while you're out there risking your life! Let me become a Kryptonain, so that I can help protect you and this city from Lex and my mother."
"Lena, I know that you already judged based on your last name. But you don't have to become a Kryptonian to prove that you are a hero." I remarked, annoyed. She looked at me with one eyebrow raised, and smirked. Sometimes I forget she is a Luthor, but when her Luthor side comes out she is stubborn.
"I am a Luthor and you're a super, there will always be people coming after us. But imagine how much we could accomplish together, all the good we could do." She pleaded. "You would finally have another Kryptonian that would understand your struggles. What it's like to lose everything and then put on a simile. You and I are so similar, we are both damaged. But you haven't let yourself fully heal, let me help you heal. I promise you that I will never leave you, and if anyone tries anything. They will feel the Luthor name in full force."
"Okay." I finally answered, with a sigh. Alex is going to kill me, once she finds out about this. However Lena is scary when she goes into her protective mode. There are definitely going to be some conditions about this. "But I will be training you, once I believe you are ready for the field. You will have to decide if you want to work for the Deo, or just work with me."
"I am fine with that, all I need is a drop of your blood. Then I can combine it with the Harun-El, and become Kryptonian." She answered, eagerly. I smiled at her, I can't believe it Lena is going to become a Kryptonian just for me. She is a wonderful friend, Alex is going to have a heart attack.
"You want to do this right now?" I asked, surprised.
"Yes, that way I can start training as soon as possible." She answered. Lena grabbed a red sunlight lamp and a syringe.
"Why do you have a red sunlight lamp?" I asked, curiously.
"Because I wanted to be prepared for another evil kryptonian problem. I know that red sunlight weakens your cell structure to the equivalent of a human cell structure."She remarked, sadly. I hugged her tightly, she relaxed slightly. Her heartbeat seems to have slowed down. Wow she worries about me alot.
"That isn't going to happen again, I am right here Lena. I know if it happens again Alex will probably ban me from being supergirl, until I have passed her fight training course again." I answered, trying to lighten up the mood. Alex wouldn't be able to stand another incident like that when I almost died.
"Which reminds me I am designing a new suit for you. That should protect you better than your current suit." Lena revealed. As she turned the sunlight lamp on, and started to draw blood from my right forearm. Once the syringe was halfway full she turned the lamp off and removed the syringe. She grabbed a tube of Harun-El and filled the syringe until it was full. I noticed that as soon as the Harun-El came in contact with my blood it turned Silver in color.
"Lena, are you sure you want to do this?" I ask, concerned. She looked at me and nodded, then started to inject the Platinum Kryptonite into her left arm. I watched as her the veins in her arm glowed Sliver briefly.
"Everything is so loud, Kara. How do you stay sane with all of the noise?" Lena asked, as she gained her super hearing.
"Practice." I answer. Wait, what's going to happen once her heat vision kicks in?
"Kara, your vision is wonderful." She commented, impressed.
"Lena to protect your identity you have two options. One is to wear glasses as Lena Luthor, the second is to wear a mask as your alter ego." I remark.
"I will wear a mask in my alter ego, because If I didn't wear a mask in my alter ego people would recognize me immediately." Lena answered. That's a smart choice because she basically is a public figure given her family's history.
"Lena, you need to close your eyes. Because I think your heat vision is going kick in next." I say. She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. I notice as she opens her eyes they glow a faint bright green, then they return to normal.
"I think my powers will kick within the next couple days. Because my body's cell structure is changing." Lena remarked.
"Do you have an idea on what kind of hero you want to be?" I ask.
"Yes, I want to be a vigilante. Because I want people to know that there is someone in the shadows looking out for them. Also because it would be nice to have some privacy for once." Lena commented.
"How would your alter ego react to Supergirl?" I ask, intrigued.
"She would have a love hate relationship with you." She answered with a grin.
"Why?" I ask, intrigued.
"Because if I act like I was friends with you, people may start thinking about who I am. Also I would act like I wasn't sure what to think of you being an alien. But then slowly we would start working together more often. I have a feeling the Deo will try to capture me, however you would try to fight me. But I would beat you, then we would have a complicated relationship." She explained.
"Basically it sounds like a forbidden love story." I say while smiling. Lena looks at me with one eyebrow raised. She reminds of Oliver a little bit when she does her eyebrow thing. "Anyway do you have ideas for your suit?"
"Yes, I was thinking about a nanotech suit similar to your anti-kryptonite suit. It would be a black bodysuit, with Silver and green armor pieces. I am thinking about a hood with a black Domino mask that would cover my face. It would have a voice modulator, as well as a filter system for Kryptonite. I am thinking about having batons as well as special wrist gauntlets that allow me to access into my private database system on L-corp projects as well as police scanners." Lena revealed. She is going to enjoy creating her suit. "I was thinking about me mainly using my batons to fight, then keeping my other powers secret until necessary. So that way people think I am an easier target."
"You know once you reveal your powers. I will have to interview you for Catco, right?" I ask.
"Yes, after all you seem to be able to get interviews with Superheroes and vigilantes. That makes sense given how Superman or should I say Clark Kent also seems to be able to do the same." Lena remarks, smugly. Sweet Rao, this Luthor is going to be the death of me. Nope, she is my new Kryptonite.
