Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of War of Time. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own WD, AMC and a few others do.

Hailen buried his knife into the head of the walker. The undead creature struggled as he pushed it off his weapon.

"Their getting harder to kill." Hailen heard from his brother as he hummed.

'No, you're just not putting in enough effort to kill them.' Hailen thought to himself as he sighed.

Hailen knew for a fact that the walkers had to die. They were no longer people; they were no longer living creatures in his mind. Just monsters that had to be killed in order for them to live.

"Do you ever wonder what would happen if we became one of them?" Hailen said while shuttering to himself as he put his knife away… After cleaning it off as course.

"Nope." Hailen heard while blinking to himself. "Don't know, don't want to know. Their just walking meat to be killed." Hailen heard from his brother.

Hailen said nothing as they walked through the forest. Hailen saw his brother pull out a revolver, a very specific revolver which Hailen knew on sight.

"Isn't that dad's gun?" Hailen questioned with a raised eyebrow and put his hands on his hips. "You told me we lost that when we had left." Hailen stated while pulling out his knife at the sound of a groan.

"I said that so you didn't look back." Hailen heard from his brother. "You heard what dad said. We can't stop for anything." Hailen heard and flipped his knife in his hand.

Hailen remembered what happened to his father. The man had given his life for them when the walkers came…. And according to what his brother had told him? His brother had told him the man had informed them what happened. And they had to keep moving. Stopping meant dying from walkers.

"Still doesn't mean we shouldn't look for a place to call home." Hailen stated and moved up to one of the trees. "The longer we stay on the move? The more worn down we get." Hailen stated and let out a hum.

"And the more we stay still?" Hailen heard from his brother who rushed up to one of the trees. "The more dependent we come on others… And the more dependent we become? That will lead to them owning us. You want someone to own us?" Hailen heard from his brother.

"I want not to have to keep running from the damned walkers." Hailen said and cracked his neck. "I want a home. You want a home. Do you honestly want to keep hunting things? Keep running?" Hailen asked and got no answer.

It answered his question anyway. Hailen knew survival wouldn't work if they were out of the open. The walkers didn't need to stop to catch their breath. Walkers also didn't need ammo or weapons.

"I don't see any more walkers." Hailen said and leaned his head on the tree. "There's too many herds out now. I told you we shouldn't be trying to scavenge out here." Hailen muttered and shook his head.

His brother said nothing as Hailen kept his knife ready. The walkers were going to be coming sooner or later. Hailen wondered if his brother was aware that the walkers couldn't be outfought in droves.

"Do you want to eat tonight?" Hailen heard his brother ask.

"Yes, Brock. I would like to eat." Hailen said and mimed eating. "But I would also like to sleep not in the middle of the forest… Or a car, or anywhere we usually pick to sleep." Hailen said before sliding down the tree.

Hailen heard Brock sigh while he kept his revolver ready. He knew for a fact that Hailen had every reason not to want keep on the move. A 12-year-old kid barely understood what was going on… And that was dangerous when it came to it.

"Fine, let's get home then." Brock stated as he clicked his tongue against his chapped lips. "And make sure your gun is loaded. Remember what I told you about other people." Brock added to which he got a roll of the eyes from his brother.

Hailen knew not to trust people. It didn't mean he had to listen to it. Not every single human they ran into would be dangerous and want to kill them. Someone would want to help them in exchange for resources.

"You're the boss." Hailen said and kept his other hand on his holster. " Don't forget we should keep the bullets handy. Their better on fighting people then killing walkers." Hailen said while he cracked a smile as he turned and left once more.

Brock said nothing and growled with annoyance before he turned and walked away. It was no longer as funny when it came down to it.

"You're a real pain in the ass." Brock stated to which Hailen hummed and then started to smirk.

He shrugged once more at the moment.
