Chapter 2
From the Skies Above
Off the coast of Treasure Town, a familiar purple Lapras was relaxing in the warm water. The sun was setting, and it was a beautiful evening.
Then over a mile up in the sky, a tear opened, a portal so unstable that it only opened for a single second and a single pokemon fell out along with two items. It was a bipedal, feline Pokémon with two tails, folded ears, a small collar of fur around the neck, and a tuft of fur on top of the head. Its ears had no markings, and curled tuft of fur on its head was curled, as was the collar around its neck. There are blue, stocking-like markings around its paws and two tufts of fur on each hip. At the same time, a normal member of its kind would be white and dark blue colored. However, this particular one had primarily black fur with white accents.
The Meowtic opened its yellow eyes with back pupils and gasped as it realized the situation it was in. The psychic type held out its small hand, causing an identical clone of her to appear below her; as she hit the clone, it slowed her down, the pokemon acted on instinct, doing it again and again until it hit the water below her at a rather slow speed.
The pokemon called out with, "HELP, I CAN'T SWIM!"
Just before her frantic flailing pulled her under, the purple Larpas pulled up beside her and allowed her to climb on.
"Thank you so much…." The Meowstic said between labored breaths.
The Lapras smiled and replied, "no need for thanks, you were clearly in trouble; I am Oleanna; what is your name?"
"My name is Blake, and I'm….." the psychic type, now identified as Blake, paused. Besides her name, she couldn't remember anything.
Oleanna noticed her blank expression and said, "what were you doing out here? As far as I know, your kind is only native to the Mist and Water continents."
Blake gave a puzzled look; she seemed to have a nagging sense of anger at the words "your kind," but she couldn't place it; that concern took a backseat as she saw her reflection in the water.
"It's that me?" She questioned as the Pokémon staring back at her moved in symmetry with her.
Oleanna gave a curious look and said, "yes, you're a Pokémon; why are you acting like your appearance is not your own?"
Blake shook her head; she knew that she was supposed to be something else. She was supposed to be human! However, she had no other memories to go on.
"I can't remember anything….I don't know anything but my name; I guess I just can't remember what I'm supposed to look like, too…what's a Pokémon?" Blake half lied. Something deep down made her cautious to tell Oleanna anything about her, but those feelings had no memories to explain them; they were just random impulses to her.
As Blake stared off into space, clearly deep in thought, Oleanna gave her a curious look. However, Lapras shook the upper part of her head, dismissing the possibility. While it seemed suspiciously similar, the odds of Blake being the same sort of anomaly as someone Oleanna knew, the odds were too astronomical to consider.
Deciding to change the subject, she asked, "Pokémon are the creatures that inhabit this world; by the way, do you recognize these items? They fell out of nowhere next to me."
Blake looked at the two items in Oleana's shell; one was a black object resembling an oversized cleaver with a black handle and a blocky blade guard. The other item looked like a massive red metal case with lines implying that something folded out of it.
Blake's yellow eyes studied the object closely, and then she replied, "something seems familiar...I think they're mine, or at least I know them."
Oleanna nodded and said, "ok, why don't I take you to the beach and then have someone take you to the Wigglytuff guild? They can probably help you find out where you're from."
"What's the Wigglytuff Guild?" Blake questioned
Oleanna gave a confused look before remembering, "oh right, amnesia...The Wigglytuff guild is a place where they train exploration teams. Groups of Pokémon who explore unknown places and help those in need. The Guildmaster Wallace is a bit…..eccentric but is very connected and knowledgeable, not to mention the strongest Pokémon on the continent, or at least until 5 years ago…."
Blake wondered what could've happened 5 years ago to dethrone the strongest Pokémon on an entire continent, but then again, for all she knew, shifting hierarchies could be common here.
Blake nodded and said, "ok."
The shoreline was already close by, so after a minute or two, Blake jumped off Oleanna onto the sandy beach, holding the black item from Oleanna under her small arm.
"You can't carry this one; Carver can help you with that," Oleanna assured as a Pokémon arrived for his daily sun-set walk on the beach. It was a fat, brown, quadrupedal mammalian Beaver Pokémon. It had a cream-colored patch on its chest, and a face almost stamped around its eyes. Its tail was dark brown with cream markings. Its paws were dark brown with cream pads. Its snout was short and dark brown with teeth and a red, triangular nose.
"Howdy Oleanna, who's this?" Carver asked.
Oleanna turned her neck to face Carver and said, "this is Blake; I found her drowning and saved her. She seems to be suffering from amnesia. Could you take her and her things to the guild. Maybe Wallace can find a way to get her home?"
Carver noticed the red case and said, "unfortunately, the Guildmaster and Cleft are on a trip to Lively Town, reckon it be a week or two before they'll be back. We can probably let her stay in Team Outriders old room; maybe Belle can get inside her head and see if anything's wrong!"
"Thanks for your hospitality," Blake said quietly as Carver picked up the red case, carrying the heavy object without issue.
The Bibarel smiled and said, "no problem, missy, it's the guild's duty to help Pokémon in need!"
Author's Note- and that's the other half of the prologue!
1. this story will jump back and forth from Ruby and Blake; I'll do my best to make their individual stuff memorable!
2. Team Outriders is also out of town at the moment, so Blake's secret will stay hidden for a while...hehe
3. It's been 5 years since Darkrai's defeat at the end of Outriders; Alex and Blaze have gotten a lot stronger during that time, you won't be seeing them for a bit, but they'll come.
4. Alex's control over the dimensional scream has improved quite a bit, only in cases where it's something very extraordinary(like another former human) Will it go off without him wanting a vision to happen. I wonder what will happen when he shakes hands/paws with Blake?
