You had finally fallen asleep at 5am which, added with the previous 2 hours, gave you about 5 hours of sleep, until you had to get up to get ready for meeting everyone. You feel no energy in your body as you open your eyes and stare up at the ceiling, trying to drown out the sound of your alarm.

You lift your hand up and rub your eyes quickly before reaching over to turn off your phone which reads 8:00am. You swing your legs over the side of your bed and stretch, trying to give some life to your limbs. You get up and walk straight ahead into your en-suite to brush your teeth and have a shower. As you step into the shower you let your arms go limp at your side and tilt your head up towards the shower head, letting the water hit your face, in a trance of peace and quiet. You turn around and lean against the shower wall, rethinking about joining the avengers. You had never worked well with teams before- a little part of you always felt as though you were alone; being hugged by the people you love most, but feeling no touch at all.

You let your legs buckle under neath you and you slide your back down the shower wall, until you are sitting on the floor. You know your brother would never have let you even doubt joining the Avengers. You remember the dumb smirk he had on his face after he told you "If I had the power you had, I wouldn't let how I got it define how I use it". You let a weak smile spread across your face remembering how proud he was for making a quote. The smile on your face starts to fade as you feel the numbness in chest chest rise again. You sigh deeply, wishing he was making breakfast downstairs, so you could hug him, even just once more.

You reach your hand up to the shower handle, and pull it down, stopping the water. You lay in the swiftly cooling water for a few seconds before getting up and grabbing a towel. No matter how you feel, you know that if you don't get off the shower floor now, you probably never will.

You pick up your phone and it flashes '9:00am' back at you. You throw your phone down onto your bed and run to your closet grabbing a dark grey blazer and pants, and a black t-shirt for underneath. You sprint down the stairs and fall on the last step, leaving a huge pain shooting up your leg. You ignore the pain, limp over to the kitchen and grab a banana to eat on your way. You double check to make sure that you've got your phone, keys, banana and bag. Just as you get to the door, you lean your head against it and take a deep breath.

"Don't let how you got your power define how you use it" you whisper this once to yourself before throwing the door open and running out to catch your train.
