Ruby was having quite the start to her first day at beacon. It started with her Sister crushing her in a bear hug. Her very, very strong sister.

"Oh I can't believe my baby sister's going to Beacon with me. This is going to be the best day ever!" Yang excitedly said hugging Ruby the whole time. Much like other teenagers this was highly embarrassing to Ruby herself.

"Please stop." Ruby pleaded.

"But I'm so proud of you!" Yang buzzed.

"Really sis it was nothing."

"What do you mean. It was incredible! Everyone at Beacon is going to think you're the bee's knees!"

"Ok, I don't wanna be the bees knees! Ok, I don't wanna be any kinda knees, I just wanna be a normal girl with normal knees." Ruby whined. Still on the inside she thought about her semblance and how a part of her resented having so many extra pairs of eyes. She just wanted to be a normal girl and yet here she was toting around 9 extra eyes.

"What's with you, aren't you excited!" Yang fires back knowing full well that Ruby has always wanted to go to Beacon.

"O'course I'm excited I just… I got moved ahead two years, I don't want people to think I'm special or anything."

"But you are special." Yang comforted

The rest of the trip to Beacon was fairly uneventful. There was a news broadcast of Torchwick and a white fang attack, Goodwitch welcomed the incoming students to Beacon through hologram aaaaaand some guy lost his lunch. Aside from vomit boy the rest of the trip was pretty uneventful right up until right up until her sister who was oh so excited to have her baby sister coming to beacon with her, decided to abandon that baby sister.

The spiral Ruby was left in sent her crashing into an ice queen.

"What are you doing!" Ice queen shouted

"Sorry!"

"Sorry! Do you have any idea of the damage you could have caused!"

"Uhh." Not the best first impression Ruby has had as she turns around to hand the girl one of her suitcases.

"Give me that!" The girl shouts again before opening it to check on the vials. "This is dust! Mined and purified from the Schnee quarry."
"Uhh."

"What are you, braindead! Dust! Fire, Water, Lightning, Energy!" As she is talking about dust the girl starts shaking a vial of fire dust. Unfortunately for both of them this is getting in Ruby's nose and she can feel a sneeze coming.

"Are you even listening to me, is any of this sinking in! What do you have to say for yourself!" The last shake of the dust is the last straw as Ruby let's out a sneeze detonating the dust in a fireball. It only does superficial damage to the two girls, but it does send the vial of dust flying to land at the feet of another girl. Back with Ruby the berating is only getting worse.

"Unbelievable! This is exactly the kind of thing I was talking about!" Under constant attack, but now able to respond seeing as the dust was dispersed Ruby tries to apologize.

"I'm really, really sorry."

"Uhg, You complete dolt! What are you even doing here aren't you a little young to be attending Beacon."

"Well, I-"

"This isn't your ordinary combat school. It's not just sparring and practice you know. We're here to fight monsters, so watch where you're going!" Ruby is getting just a little annoyed at the constant attack she is under so at last she sticks up for herself.

"Hey I said I was sorry Princess!"

"It's heiress actually" another voice chimes in as a girl in black comes over carrying the dropped dust vial. "Weiss Schnee Heiress to the Schnee dust company. One of the largest producers of energy propellant in the world."

"Finally some recognition." Weiss says, apparently proud of her family name. Unfortunately for her, the newcomer is not done yet

"The same company infamous for it's controversial labor forces and questionable business partners." This sets Weiss sputtering

"Wha- Ho- Dar- the Nerv ugh" Eventually she just settles for taking the dust back and walking off in a huff.

Ruby still feeling bad for her part in this calls out to Weiss.

"I promise I'll make this up to you." Sighing as she knows the bad attitude was probably just nerves Ruby mutters to herself, "I guess I'm not the only one having a rough first day." Still hoping to have a friendlier conversation she turns to the other girl

"So, what's-" only to see the other girl walking away. It is weird how when Ruby turned to greet her she seemed to stiffen a bit and then quicken her pace, but Ruby had no idea why she would do that and so just sighs and falls onto her back. "Welcome to Beacon."

The rest of Ruby's day would go better, the vomit boy she saw on the ship, his name was apparently Jaune, turned out to be rather nice and she would eventually reunite with her sister. She would also have another encounter with Weiss, but that wasn't anything special. She also saw the girl in Black a couple times, but there wasn't a good time to approach her yet

Blake was having a very concerning day. It had actually started out okay and she enjoyed being able to put the schnee heiress in her place, however as she started to leave she could feel it. Something very powerful and very dangerous was focusing on her. Had it not been for her faunus instincts she wouldn't have even noticed, but her time in the White fang had taught her to trust those instincts. Still even with her heightened senses she couldn't tell where it was coming from. It may have been a bit rude to the girl trying to greet her who she had just walked away from, but Blake started moving quickly. This place was to open and with too many places she could be attacked from.

The feeling faded as she moved away, but Blake wasn't about to lower her guard. Throughout the day she would occasionally have the feeling return and would quickly make sure she was ready to run or fight if it came at her, but each time the feeling would fade. It would become most severe that night.

Blake was pretending to read her book, it isn't that she didn't enjoy it, but she was far more concerned at whatever had it's eye on her. Still when the feeling came again she grit her teeth. She had to know what was watching her and surrounded by a bunch of other people skilled in combat, even if they were all students, seemed as good a place as any. So she waited only for the feeling to disappear completely as the girl from earlier that day along with someone who was apparently her sister despite looking nothing alike. They introduced themselves and Blake did the same, but she wasn't really paying attention to the conversation as she tried to figure out where the gaze had come from.

When she finally decided it must have been satisfied and wasn't returning the Schnee came over and started yelling, so Blake blew out her candle and began to turn in for the night. Hopefully, whatever was watching her wouldn't risk causing trouble in the middle of Beacon.

A/N

And so Ruby arrives in Beacon obviously as a beholder. Right now her semblance is only resulting in subtle changes and I am going to be focused on those. If you want to see the parts I am skipping just go watch the show. The plot will deviate greatly as I would say remnant is a world where the max level is 10 (The dragon Grimm doesn't use a breath weapon so it is weaker than a normal D&D dragon) Meanwhile Ruby is a CR 13 monster except she is limiting herself to one eye power at the moment (Normal Knees).

In other news I am trying to make her powers more in line with 3.5 beholder, but don't actually have the stats on that so I just gave a rough approximation of the beholder in 5. If someone has the actual descriptions for each ability and will send it to me I would appreciate it. It won't be changed immediately, but changes can be worked in as what has been described is not the limit of her powers.

Q/A

I saw some good points brought up in the reviews so I decided I would address them Q/A style (can't promise I will always notice, but I will try.)

First off, I am a novice writer so I am not very good at describing fight scenes. With Torchwicks goons you can picture it more as she is just tossing them in the air as they charge her one at a time (You know the movie trope). And she does still have aura to block bullets although Torchwicks attack was much stronger.

In the fight with the bullhead, Ruby is powerful, but not quite powerful enough to hold a bullhead with her telekinesis. As for pulling Cinder out of the bullhead, I am just going to say she was star struck by a huntress and then walk away whistling like I didn't forget what my own power set was capable of in the same chapter I described them.

When it comes to not telling her family it isn't that she doesn't trust them, but rather that it feels weird and embarrassing to her. I go over it a bit in this chapter, but she just wants to be a normal girl who is also a huntress. Not some weird creature with a bunch of extra eyes and tentacles. Obviously they will find out, but for now it is one of those things she just doesn't want to talk about.

As for deviating from cannon, I do have a plan for that and it will mostly start next chapter, but I wanted a familiar start to hopefully make the changes more pronounced.

As for her being overpowerd? uhh. ok yes, but it is very dependent on what you are willing to do to someone. The aura cancel is very powerful (although like with a D&D beholder it does interfere with her other powers), but it is also very dangerous as suddenly they are able to move and attack like normal, but any attack on them is very lethal. Similar with her other powers. She can disintegrate a person, but would you? overall the Telekinesis is the most versatile so she is currently pretending like it is all she has and maybe something else (Undecided).
