Chapter 2

Tony landed the jet next to the cabin and took a deep breath, he never thought he would come back here willingly but also never had the heart to sell it. Once he gathered himself he turned slowly to the girl and shook her as gently as he could, he looked down to see the gloves she wore as well wondering if those helped her bruising. She shot straight out of her seat and Tony placed his hand on her shoulder to get her to calm down. Skye looked up at Tony trying to get her to calm down and took deep breaths. She was safe for now.

"We are here grab your bags so I can show you around" it was barely dawn but he knew the sun would be up soon enough. She silently grabbed her bags and followed him into the cabin, it was huge.

Tony showed her to one of the larger room still completely stocked just a little dusty, she set her bags on it,

"Thank you Tony," she said softly looking around it was very homey and comfortable. He started on a tour of the house showing her the bathroom and other rooms in the house before she left the hall there was one door that was shut she paused at it,

"What is in there?" she asked slowly reaching for the door he inclined his head for her to go ahead, Skye instantly regretted opening it. Inside was a small nursery, a crib made of redwood, little toys, and a rocking chair in the crib was a little bear that said "I love you 3000" on it. Skye turned to him, sorrow filling his eyes.

"This is something no one knows about, and I would appreciate it if you kept it that way" he sadly told her, she nodded.

"What happened?" she asked softly knowing he might not answer but surprisingly he did.

"It was an affair I had with an amazing woman, it was only a month or two she wasn't staying long but then we found out she was pregnant. I decorated this nursery probably a couple of weeks after the news. I never thought I would be a dad. I thought I would be a horrible one, and apparently, fate agreed. She was only three months along when she had the miscarriage. After that, she went back to her life and I went back to mine." Tony shrugged and lifted the teddy bear up before gently placing it back down.

"I'm sorry Tony," Skye said softly but he just gave a small smile,

"I could never sell this place though, but I have only been here a couple of times since so sorry about the dust but it should help you with your journey I hope, but I have to return to the Avenger compound and make sure no one has ruined anything" His eyes seemed to light up at that thought and a smile.

"Well thank you again, I hope I am not here too long but thank you" Skye followed him out to the kitchen noticing there was no food except what she had in her bag which was just snacks. Tony seemed to notice.

"I will have someone restock the place with food and everything tomorrow around 1 pm so that would be a great time to visit the little lake just outside, that way they don't see you." Tony winked and Skye smiled.

Once Tony left Skye decided to wander around the house and then outside to the lake which had a little covered deck with some benches she went and sat by. She couldn't help but think how relaxing it would be with May here, doing Tai Chi with her in the morning sun. Her thoughts drifted to May though she still hasn't heard from them and Skye wasn't going to contact her without May doing so first just in case this new enemy could track it. She didn't want to think about another enemy they were going to have to face again all while Hydra is still out there causing problems. Looking at the sun setting she decided to go back into the house and see what food she could scrounge up and maybe actually sleep tonight.

While sitting by the fire with some warm tea Skye stared into the fire when something outside sounded. Jumping up she slowly went to the windows looking for anything outside but nothing was there, she closed the blinds to the windows and was walking around checking the door when someone knocked. Skye jumped and approached the door slowly grabbing a bat that was near the door before slowly opening it,

"Hello Skye," a tall man with no eyes was standing there hands in his pockets smiling,

"Umm who are you?" Skye asked, gripping the bat harder, confused about how he knows her name.

"My name is Gordan, what were you planning to do with that?" he asked nodding toward the bat and striding in and going over to the couch and sitting down. Skye looked up confused for a minute

"Wait you can see?" she asked, setting down the bat and closing the door.

"Not the way you do, but yes. And before you ask yes I used to have eyes, they were blue, this for me was the obvious change." He pointed toward his eyes.

"When I went through the mist the first thing I experienced when I got out was acceptance, love, they embraced me. What was the first thing that was done to you?" Skye just looked at the fire,

"I can take you somewhere beautiful, where no one but our kind lives. You can learn how to control your power be embraced like I was"

"Where is this place?" She knew he wouldn't tell her though,

"I have already said too much, but if you want to go Skye just call out my name and I will take you there" he got up smiled at her once, and left

Skye sat there on the couch and she didn't know where she belonged.
