CHAPTER 2: Witches And Keyblade Wielders Before Wizards

[Open on the Owl House with the wind howling as it moves Luz's open and creaking window]

Luz was rolling over, breathing heavily.

She began having flashbacks to yesterday's events, from meeting Eda to meeting Sora and seeing the epic battle between Sora and Warden Wrath.

[Cut to Sora sleeping calmly]

Sora also has flashbacks of yesterday's events, from leaving his friends behind to meeting Eda and Luz and the battle with Warden Wrath.

[Cut back to Luz waking up]

King was sleeping.

Luz: It wasn't a dream!

Luz opens the window.

Luz: Good morning, terrifying fantasy world.

Luz sees a giant sea monster waving at her while saying good morning, then sinks into the ocean. Luz then walks over to King and picks him up.

Luz: Good morning, you little cutie‐pie.

Luz kisses his head repeatedly.

King: I am not your cutie‐pie!

Luz: Yes, you are.

She hugs him tightly before putting him back down on her sleeping bag.

King: *sighs* I know.

[Cut to Sora starting the day by stretching his whole body]

Sora: *sigh* ok, time to greet the day.

[Cut to Luz opening the bathroom door with several owls fly out of it, hooting and watching them fly away before entering, walking backward]

Hooty: Hi, Luz!

Luz screams and karate chops Hooty's face.

Hooty: Ow! I'm just wishing you a good morning.

Hooty retreats to the front door

Hooty: Jeez! Hoot! Ow!

Luz: Sorry, Hooty!

[Cut to Sora walking into the kitchen]

Sora looks around the kitchen and proceeds to sit down on the dining table. Sora then takes out a small device and looks through it, trying to find something that looks good to cook.

Sora: Hmm... Aha. Here it is.

Sora then summons ingredients from his hands and sets them aside. He folds his fingers and turns them around and cracks, and prepares to cook.

Sora: I'm sure they'll love this. Time to put Little Chef's training to the test.

[Cut to Luz standing at the bottom of the staircase while wearing a robe and what looks to be a witch's hat and a name tag on her chest that says "Witch Apprentice Luz"]

Luz squeals and sees Eda before her.

Eda: *yawns* Hmm?

Luz: Good morning, Eda the Owl Lady. I am ready for my first day of Witch Apprenticeship.

Eda: Ugh!

Eda shakes spiders out of her hair.

Eda: Who are you, again?

Luz: Huh?

Luz stares in confusion.

Luz: Remember me? Luz? We freed the oppressed and saw Sora defeat the evil warden together? Yesterday?

Eda: *yawns* Oh right. It's WAY too early in the-

Suddenly, the two began to smell something. Something good.

Luz: Wow, what's that?

Eda: I don't know... But it's-

Luz and Eda's stomach began to growl.

Eda runs downstairs.

Eda: We gotta see this!

Luz runs after her.

Luz: Wait up!

[Cut to Sora setting up the table with King watching him and drooling]

Sora: That should do it.

King: *sniffing* Wow. That smells good. What kind of food is this?

Sora: Only some of the most delicious foods you all will get to eat.

King hops on the table in hopes of eating but was caught by Sora.

Sora: King. Wait till the others get here.

King: Awww, but King wants delicious food now.

Sora: Patience.

Eda and Luz, in her normal attire again, then run into the kitchen to see what the smell was and gasped.

Eda: What is this?

Sora turns to Eda while holding King.

Sora: Good Morning, Eda. I wanted to show my appreciation for letting me stay here by preparing everyone breakfast.

Eda walks towards the dining table, along with Luz. They are in awe of what they see.

Eda: Wow. What kind of food is this?

Sora: I'm glad you asked.

[Play Kingdom Hearts 3 - You Got A Friend In Me - Extended]

(Imagine a full view of the dining table filled with food and a chibi-Sora explaining what the foods are.)

Sora: Here, we have pancakes. Fluffy with crisp edges. It's made from flour, water, and butter. On top, they're slathered with maple syrup. On the side, we have sunny-side eggs, topped with cheddar cheese, a pinch of salt, and black pepper. Next to that, there's smoked bacon. Nice and crispy. And lastly, there's freshly made orange juice to drink. What do you guys think?

Eda and King just stood there in awe as they never saw food like this before in their entire lives. On the other hand, Luz hugged Sora very fast and thanked him for making this and proceeded to grab a seat, silverware, and ate with tears of joy.

Luz: Mmmmm... Sho good.

Eda and King grabbed seats and silverware and proceeded to taste each item simultaneously. There was a slight pause, and Eda and King's eyes widened, and it blew their minds. Another slight pause, with Luz and Sora looking at them in anticipation of their reactions. And the humans' eyes widened as Eda and King began wolfing down their food. Eda and King then talked with their mouths full with brightening smiles on their faces.

Eda: Hot dang, thish ish sho delishioush!

King: Sho yummy!

They drank the OJ and swallowed their food.

Eda: My compliments to the chef! Thanks so much, kid.~

Sora smiles

Sora: You're welcome.

Eda and King continued to wolf down while Sora and Luz looked at each other and smiled.

[End Kingdom Hearts 3 - You Got A Friend In Me - Extended]

[Cut to the four chilling in the living room]

After everyone finished breakfast and washed up the dishes, Luz asks about her apprenticeship under Eda.

Luz: When do I get a magic staff? Was I supposed to bring my own runes? *gasp* Do you have a dangerous magical quest for me?

Eda: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down, kid. Being a witch doesn't happen overnight.

Eda then extends her left arm.

Eda: Magic staff, come to me!

She holds out her hand. For a second, nothing happens. Then several things crash distantly. Luz, Eda, King, and Sora slowly turn to the sound until Eda's staff appears and smacks her in the face, clattering to the ground.

Eda: Gah!

Eda then picks the staff up, spinning it before tapping it on the ground.

Eda: It's early. Now, witches are awarded their staff from school. With me as your teacher, you'll be taking a different approach.

Eda drops a huge sack of items onto the floor.

Eda: You'll have to work for it.

Eda leads Luz through the living room.

Eda: I run a few businesses. On weekends, I offer rare human treasures that Owlbert drags over from your side of the realm. But most days, I sell only the finest homemade elixirs and potions. Now follow me.

[Cut to Eda and Luz walking onto a balcony]

Eda: Today, you'll deliver packages and sell potions to that town over there, Bonesborough. You'll have to be careful. I have rivals everywhere who'd love to take my business down and you along with it. You wanted a dangerous magical quest? Sister, you've got one.

Luz: I won't let you down, Miss Eda.

Luz turns to salute Eda, dropping the sack of potions off the balcony in the process. The two of them watch it fall, Luz wincing when it crashes loudly on the ground.

Eda: I'm sure.

[Cut to the living room with Eda pushing Luz out the door with a new bag of potions]

Eda: Remember, never befriend a man in sandals and always measure twice, cut once.

Luz: Uh...

Eda: Good luck!

Eda slams the door closed and dusts her hands off, then looks at King.

Eda: I hate to interrupt your power nap, but you have to go with her.

King: What?! But I just found the perfect spot! Why do I have to go?!

Eda: You and I know she's either going to get lost or eaten, probably both.

Luz squishes her face against the window.

Luz: No, I won't.

Eda closes the blinds with a spell.

King: Make Sora go; he can look after her!

Sora: Sure, I can do that.

Eda: Sora and Luz don't exactly know their way around Bonesborough.

And because you work for me, too, unless you want to start paying rent.

King throws a short tantrum before stomping out the door.

Eda: Be back by nightfall or risk mortal peril.

Eda slams the door again.

Hooty: Have a nice trip.

King: Huh! Let's get this over with.

[Cut to a montage of the trio trying to sell potions to random citizens and delivering packages at various houses]

Luz: This has been a rough day.

Sora: At least, we're almost done.

Luz: Let's just deliver this last package and go home.

The trio arrives at a large castle with golden banners illuminated by sunlight. The doorbell is also made of gold, and towering wooden doors open after Luz presses it.

Luz: *gasps* Pretty!

Sora: Nice.

King: Big houses always belong to big whackjobs. Let's kick the package inside and get outta here.

Luz and Sora start walking inside the castle.

King: Hey, wait.

He runs after the humans, yelping when the doors slam behind him.

King: Weh!

The trio enters a room.

Luz: Hello? ...I‐I'm delivering a package from Miss Eda, the Owl Lady. ...Huh?

Lanterns around the room flare on, revealing it to be a massive library. They illuminate a grand staircase, above which is a painting of a wizard. Said wizard enters from a door in the same pose he has in the painting.

Luz danced excitedly.

Luz: Magical wizard!

King: Weird old man in jim‐jams.

Sora, seeing the wizard, reminded him of Master Yen sid a bit.

The wizard began descending the stairs.

Wizard: I was in my oscillarium, reading the stars. And who might you be, with eyes full of curiosity?

Luz: Uh, I‐I'm‐‐

Wizard: Young children, dareth I say, I sense something unique about you. Please, won't you join me for tea?

The wizard summons three chairs and a table of snacks. He sits down on the white throne.

Luz: *gasps* Ok.

King: *grabbing Luz's leg* Let's scram!

King climbs up to Luz's shoulder.

King: Wizards are just old people with glitter in their pockets.

The wizard takes a handful of glitter out of his pocket and drops it on the floor.

King: I don't trust him.

Luz: But the stars on his robe are sparkling. And look, there's a baby fox in his beard.

The baby fox giggles.

Luz: Plus, I see scones on the table.

King: Where?

King pants as he runs to the table. Luz and Sora follow him, dropping the bag of potions in front of the chairs as they sit in them.

Luz: We'd love to join you for tea.

King starts munching.

Luz turns and notices a cart of potions.

Luz: Do you sell potions, Sir Wizard?

Wizard: Please, call me Adegast. Ma'am, yes, I run a small business.

King, munching, holds up an empty plate.

King: You should run a small business of more scones into my mouth. *chuckles* Yes!

Adegast: I'm surprised to see you here. It was my understanding that Eda delivered the packages herself.

Luz: Well, I'm kinda, sorta, her apprentice.

Adegast: Ah, I see. And how about you, young man?

Sora: Oh, uhh... I guess you could say I'm an assistant.

Adegast: Oh! And how are you two finding the experiences so far?

Sora: It's alright.

Luz holds a fake grin before sighing.

Luz: Can I be honest, Mr. Adegast? When I decided to stay in this magical world, I thought I was meant for something special. But Eda thinks I'm meant for chores, and I'm afraid I came to the wrong place.

Sora looked at Luz with a concerned look.

Adegast approaches Luz.

Adegast: Well, I have a quest‐‐

Luz: A quest?

A cup shatters.

Adegast: *chuckles* You didn't let me finish. I have a question.

Luz: Oh.

Adegast: Would you like to go on a quest?

Luz: Yes!

Adegast reaches into his beard and pulls out a scroll.

Adegast: I might have just the thing.

He unrolls the scroll to reveal a map.

Adegast: The prophecy speaks of a young human girl who will claim the Celestial Staff and free this world from an ancient evil. Perhaps thou hath cometh here for a reason.

Luz: Perhaps I hath.

Luz takes the map.

Adegast: Should you believe yourself worthy to attempt this quest...

He begins walking through his house with Luz following him.

Luz: So worthy.

Adegast: ...you need to know the road is dark and perilous.

Luz: Love peril. Big fan of peril.

Adegast: And only the Chosen One can pull the staff from its post.

Luz stops walking.

Luz: Chosen one.

King walks past Luz with the bag of potions.

King: Neat story, awesome. Anyway, your food is gone, and we are, too.

Luz: Yes, we have to go. And pack for this enchanted quest! I'm in.

Adegast: Wonderful.

[Cut to Luz packing various potions, food, the quest scroll, and of course her Azura book in her bedroom]

Luz: So, Sora, what kind of Chosen One should I be?

Sora: Hm?

Luz picks up her book.

Luz: Should I be full of optimism and goodness, like the Good Witch Azura? Or should I be like a bad girl Chosen One with black nail polish and a mysteriously withdrawn attitude?

She uses the book as a mouth.

Luz: "I act like I don't care, but I secretly do."

Sora: Can't go wrong with optimism.

Eda: Oh, you guys talking about bad girls? Wait, what's going on?

King: Eda, tell Luz how dumb wizards are.

Eda gestures with a severed arm and almost hitting King several times.

Eda: Ugh! Wizards are the worst. Never trust a man in casual drapery.

Sora *thinking*: Not all wizards are bad. Master Yen Sid and Merlin are good.

She laces her fingers with the severed arm.

Eda: Why?

King: Your wizard client told Luz... she was a‐‐ was a Chosen One!

King laughs.

Eda: Wait, wait, Luz?

Eda joins in.

King: He even gave her a map!

Eda and King laugh as Luz hides behind her book, an embarrassed blush on her face. Sora puts his hand on her shoulder to comfort her.

Eda: Let me see this map.

Luz hands her the map. She inspects it for a few seconds.

Eda: You didn't think this was real, did you?

Luz: What?

Eda: This map is bunk. There's no lake with a Celestial Staff on the Boiling Isles. I would have stolen it ages ago.

She notes Luz's sad face and hands her the map back.

Eda: Ah, don't worry. Couple more months here, and you won't look like such a mark.

Luz: Can I have some time alone?

Eda shrugs and leaves the room. King hops off of Luz's sleeping bag and follows Eda. Sora begins to follow Eda and King, but Luz stops him by grabbing his hand, causing him to look at Luz.

Luz: Please stay.

The door closes, casting the room in shadow.

Luz: Maybe they were right.

Luz leans against the wall before sliding down it to the floor.

Sora: Luz...

Luz: What do you think, Sora?

Sora stops to think of everything he's been through before meeting Luz and the others. From the day he was chosen to wield his keyblade, he had gone through many adventures. But he also remembered that this world isn't exactly much of a friendly place. He then wanted to tell Luz about it, but something caught Luz's attention.

Luz: Huh?

Sunlight illuminates one corner of the map, revealing the word "one" in shining blue lettering. Luz holds the entire map up to the light revealing the message: "The chosen one The path will only appear to the worthy."

Luz: "The path will only appear to the worthy." *gasp* That's why Eda couldn't see it. But am... I really worthy?

Sora: You could be. But the question is, are you willing to find out?

The wind howls and opens the window. The map flies out of Luz's grasp, landing next to her book. The wind flips the pages to show Azura standing loved and triumphant on a small hill, the people around her applauding as she holds a staff to the sun.

Luz: I'll never know unless I try.

Luz turns around to Sora.

Luz: Sora, will you come with me?

Sora: Of course. Actually, this'll be a good opportunity to get a bigger lay of this world.

[Cut to the living room, where King is laying down on the couch]

King: Finally! All that mean‐spirited laughter made me sleepy.

Eda: Crony, wake up. You said that wizard was one of my clients?

King: Yes. Now go away.

Eda: I don't know him that well.

Eda sits on the couch with enough force to send King flying into the air.

Eda: And I don't trust this idea he's putting In Luz's head.

King: Less talky, more nappy.

Eda sighs.

[Cut to the door of Luz's room, which Eda pushes open]

Eda: Hey, Luz? Aw, nuts.

Her room is empty, the howling wind pushing open the window. Eda runs to the window.

Eda: Hooty, where'd she go?

Hooty: Hoot, hoot. If you want the answer that you seek, solve my riddle within a week‐‐

Eda punches the wall hard enough to shake the whole house and leave cracks in the wall.

Hooty: Ow! Ok, ok. She and Sora went into the forest towards Bonesborough. Sheesh!

Eda: Ugh! Wait, Sora's with her? Well, at least he'll keep her safe. But still...

[Cut to a sign proclaiming the city limits of Bonesborough, next to which is Luz]

Luz: *inhales* My first mythical quest. Ha!

With Sora following her, she jumps and slides down an incline, then gets over a fallen log. A thick fog rolls in as she keeps walking.

Luz: Ok. Got my scroll, got my youthful optimism, and got my trusty pal with me.

Sora: Yeah.

Luz: You know, I just realized something.

Sora: What's up?

Luz: We're the only two humans in this world, we're on a quest together now, and we never really got a chance to talk to each other since we met. This is the perfect opportunity to get to know each other better.

Sora: You're right. So, you wanna tell me about yourself first, or should I?

Luz: I'll go first. *inhales* ok- wait a sec.

The two arrive at a village full of cats wearing clothes and walking on two legs. Luz walks through the village, beaming as she looks around. She approaches a fountain in the middle of a square.

Luz: Wow.

Sora: Nice town.

[Cut to an alley]

King: *sniffing* This is where we met the scones. I mean, the wizard. Whoa!

Eda pushes aside a patched curtain.

King: It wasn't like this before.

The castle is now in complete ruin, with crumbling walls, no spire, and faded banners. One of the front doors is lying on the ground, and as they look, a chunk of wall falls from a pillar.

Eda: I don't like this.

A door creaks open, revealing the library. Tattered scrolls now litter the floor, shelves are broken, paintings are ripped, and chunks of debris block the stairs. Eda steps forward onto a bundle of scrolls. She picks them all up, each illuminated with the glowing message of: "The chosen one."

Eda: I REALLY don't like this.

[Cut to the middle of the woods, where Luz is walking with Sora]

Luz: I never fit in back home. I was always the weird kid who took her ideas and imagination to heart. Eventually, I accidentally went a little bit too far with this one idea, and that was enough for my mom to try to send me to summer camp. That way, I can be more "normal."

Sora: That stinks! You're just being yourself and being happy with your hobbies!

Luz: Exactly!

Sora: Guess you caught a break when you came here, huh?

Luz: Despite the cons of this world, it's still better than a summer camp. Now, tell me about yourself; I wanna know everything.

There was silence between them for a bit.

Sora: My story... isn't exactly a happy one either. Are you sure you wanna hear it?

Luz: Of course. I'm all ears.

Sora thought about it, remembering the World Order, but also remembered that Luz and Eda already know about world travel as far he was concerned. He then decides to tell her while removing specific details.

[Play Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX -Missing You- Extended]

Sora: Ok. You know my weapon, right?

Sora summons his keyblade.

Luz: Oh yeah. Really cool and powerful.

Sora: Yeah. It's called a Keyblade. My whole life's story began the day I first got it.

Luz: Really?

Sora: Yeah. A year ago, my home was invaded by monsters. They destroyed everything. All of the people were gone, and my two closest friends, Riku and Kairi, were taken away by the monsters. After they destroyed everything, I was left alone, stranded in a random town.

Luz was shocked to hear his story so far but kept silent and kept listening.

Sora: I ended up being found by two warriors and we teamed up to find my missing friends. We traveled to so many different places, fighting off those monsters in a week and helping those in need. I made other friends along the way, but I never stopped thinking about Riku and Kairi.

Luz: I didn't know you had another friend who was lost.

Sora: Yeah, they both suffered a lot.

Luz: ...?

Sora: Kairi... lost her consciousness for a while and was held as a prisoner. While Riku was possessed by a dark wizard named Ansem who used his body to try killing Kairi and me."

Luz's eyes widened in horror.

Sora: In the end, I rescued Kairi, Riku managed to break free of Ansem's possession, and the warriors who were with me and I defeated Ansem. But that wasn't the end of it. A year later, a new dark wizard named Xemnas showed up. Like Ansem, he caused my friends and me a lot of problems, so we had to take care of him as well.

Luz: Oh my gosh...

Sora: But even after that, it was not over. ANOTHER dark wizard named Xenahort showed up and was revealed to be the true mastermind behind all of the dangers my friends and I had to go through.

Luz: Mastermind? Why did he do all that to you? What did he want?

Sora: We both discovered... an ancient form of powerful magic. Xenahort wanted to use that magic to conquer everything around him. But he didn't do it alone; he recruited 12 other dark wizards to help him. They needed to be stopped.

While listening, Luz imagines Sora's story so far happening in her mind. She sees Sora standing in front of 13 dark silhouettes with blazing fires in the background along with thick black clouds that covered the entire sky. Which, in turn, terrified her.

Luz: What happened after that?

Sora: I teamed up with 11 other powerful warriors to take down Xehanort and his followers in an all-out war. It was the toughest battle I've ever been in. The tide of the war turned in our favor for a bit, but something took a turn for the worst.

Luz: What happened?

Sora began clenching his hands into fists.

Luz: Sora...?

Sora: Kairi... Xehanort made Kairi disappear by slashing her across her back with his blade, right in front of my friends and me.

Luz covers her mouth, and her eyes widen in horror again, with tears starting to well up. She sees Sora in tears as well.

Sora: ...In the end, we defeated Xehanort and his followers. But before that, my team and I learned that Kairi had somehow survived Xehanort's attack and was sent somewhere far.

Luz: *gasp* That "somewhere far" being here.

Sora: That's right. After learning this, I told my team that I will take it upon myself to find and rescue Kairi from where ever she ended up. I then traveled far and wide looking for her. Until I eventually found my way here. I wandered around a bit and saw you and the others. And, of course, you know what happened after that.

Luz remembers the events of yesterday, from meeting Sora to him taking down Warden Wrath. Tears started welling up even more on Luz, and she couldn't take it anymore, and she just hugged Sora and cried a bit in his chest. She spoke in the shirt, but it was muffled.

Luz: I'm so sorry you went through that... nice guys like you shouldn't have to go through that.

Sora hugs her back.

Sora: I'm dealing with it. Right now, I like to think that when I find Kairi and return home, we'll have long-lasting peace.

Luz let go of Sora and looks at him sternly.

Luz: You should. You deserve to be with her and your friends in peace. After hearing that, I hope you find Kairi soon. And like I said last night, I'll be there to help you any way I can!

The two looked at each other in silence momentarily or two and smiled before continuing the quest for the Celestial Staff.

[End Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX -Missing You- Extended]

[Silence and crossfade]

[Cut to Sora telling Luz his story before arriving in the Boiling Ilse, they have continued in their path to the Celestial Staff]

Luz: I still can't believe all that you went through, but at least we know that you're getting closer to living a peaceful life after.

Sora: Yeah. And I already know the first thing I'm gonna do—have a long relaxing vacation on a nice sunny island.

Luz: Excellent choice.

The three of them walk onto a bridge, yelping when a creature jumps in front of them.

Sora: Huh?

The creature begins to dance.

Creature: Hum‐di‐diddle, to pass the bridge, you must first solve my riddle.

Luz: Hit me, little furry man.

Creature: Your quest shall stop if you fail this game. So tell me, my dear, what is my name?

Luz bends down to inspect his name tag.

Luz: Uh... Chris?

Chris: That's it. You may cross the bridge. And please take this, Chosen One. It shall help you on your journey.

Chris hands her a ring.

Luz: Wow. This is amazing. Thank you.

Luz puts the ring on.

Sora: Nice.

Chris: Three cheers for the Chosen One. Hip, hip... Hurray! Hip, hip... Hurray! Hip, hip...

[Cut to Eda]

Eda: Oh, no.

Eda and King are standing in the cat village, which is destroyed. Dark clouds hang in the sky, and fog clouds hang in front of the houses.

Eda: Are you sure they came here?

King: *sniffing* Can't mistake their smell. Like lemons, young, naive confidence... And cheerfulness yet brooding aura.

Eda: Hmm.

Eda walks up to the fountain, which is now broken and covered in dying vines. A cat wrapped in vines is lying in the lower basin. Eda kneels in front of the fountain.

Eda: Hey! Wake up, you.

She flicks the cat's head.

Eda: What have you done with Luz?!

She then shakes it.

What's your endgame?!

Cat: To find your pupil and still your wrath, look ahead and follow the path.

It cackles as it disintegrates.

King: *gasps* The cat man melted!

Eda sighs and stands.

Eda: It's a trap. They want me to follow Luz.

King: So, what do we do?

Eda: Hmm.

[Cut to the woods, where, along with Sora and Chris, Luz is walking with a fairy much less hostile than the one she met the day before]

Luz: Thank you for inviting us to your feast, Princess. All your food was so tiny and cute.

The Fairy Princess twirls her hands and creates two bracelets.

Fairy Princess: For you, Chosen One.

Luz puts the bracelets on.

Luz: Thank you. You have all been so kind and thoughtful.

Luz jumps and strikes a pose.

Luz: I hope this quest never ends.

Chris: Your quest will soon come to an end, for the staff you seek is around the bend.

Luz drops her pose.

Luz: Thanks for ruining the mood, Chris.

Sora: Look! There it is!

Luz perks back up and continues down the path.

Chris: Farewell, Chosen One.

Princess: Farewell. We love you, Chosen One.

Birds twitter as they fly overhead, casting long shadows below them. Luz looks away from them to focus on the path before slowing to a stop.

Luz: *gasps*

The Celestial Staff stands on a platform in the middle of a lake, illuminated by a ray of light. As Luz approaches the edge of the lake, a glowing comes from the water, followed a few seconds later by a stone walkway rumbling into place, connecting the edge of the lake and the central platform.

Luz: I knew this world wasn't all gloom and doom like Eda and King said.

She starts skipping and twirling down the walkway.

Luz: There is wonder here. And I... I think I came here for a reason.

She pauses as she reaches the platform, staring at the staff in awe.

Luz: Ok, this is it. Moment of truth.

She hesitantly grabs the staff. Blue swirls of magic come out of it, creating waves in the lake as the staff's top glows brightly. She pulls it out of the ground and holds it above her head triumphantly.

Luz: Yes! I am the Chosen One! I knew it! I always suspected there was a reason nobody understood my wacky antics back at home.

She jumps and twirls in a circle, then holds the staff with both hands.

Luz: Now I have concrete proof! Haha!

Sora: Alright! Congrats!

The staff disintegrates, the dust blowing away in the wind.

Luz: No!

Sora: Huh?!

She grabs at the dust. Around her, the rest of the illusions fade: flowers at her feet wilt, water drains from the lake and retreats up the riverbanks, and even leaves disappear in a swirl.

Luz: What?

Sora turns around.

[Cut to Eda and King flying through the woods on Eda's staff]

Eda: I know this guy. He's no wizard. He's what you'd call a puppeteer, a demon who specializes in scamming and manipulating people. He's trying to use Luz to get to me.

King: Yeah, and we're flying directly into his trap. Hurray.

Eda: Well, if you can think of a better plan, I'd love to hear it!

King: ... Ok I got nothing. But remember, Sora's with her. He can keep her safe and deal with the phony.

Eda: He strong, sure. But I don't think he'll be able to handle this guy on his own. Hey, faster, you!

Eda slaps her staff.

Owlbert: *hoot*

[Cut to the Celestial Lake, now surrounded in fog. Luz backs up, holding her sword in front of her]

Luz whimpers.

Adegast appears from the fog.

Adegast: Luz, the human.

Luz: Magical wizard?

Adegast: Your hubris has failed you, Witch Apprentice! *cackling*

Adegast lifts the wizard puppet to reveal an octopus-like demon. The ground begins to crack.

Luz: Huh?

Her previous traveling companions and cats from the village arise from the stone, a tentacle in each of their backs. They're lifted in the air and surround Luz, who slowly spins around.

Luz: Oh no! Everyone?!

Adegast: I am everybody! You fool, don't you see? I'm no wizard. And you're no Chosen One. I've tricked you. *laughing*

Luz: What?

As she's distracted by the reveal, her cape floats up around her. It turns to chains, forcing her to her knees. The bracelets become handcuffs, and the ring becomes chains that lock her hands together, secured with a padlock. Sora notices and stands between Luz and Adegast.

Sora: Luz! Hold on; I'll get you out of that!

Suddenly the octopus demon swung its tentacle and knocked Sora away by surprise.

Luz: Sora!

Luz turns to Adegast.

Luz: Why are you doing this?!

Adegast: Your mentor has been stealing customers from my potions business for years! She must be destroyed!

Luz: Does everybody have a beef with Eda here?!

The puppets agree with that question.

Luz: *sigh*

Adegast: And you lured her right into my trap, all because you wanted to think you were special.

Luz: No. Joke's on you, 'cause Eda isn't stupid enough to fall for your trap.

Eda: Adegast!

Luz: Oh, heck!

Eda and King land at the end of the walkway.

Adegast: Eda, I have you now!

Two cat puppets erupt from the ground, one grabbing Eda and the other King.

Eda: That's right. You have me. Now release Luz!

King: I didn't have to be a part of this!

Adegast: Oh, she can leave, If she wants to. But I sense she wants a real fantasy.

The Chris puppet breathes a cloud of fog at Luz. When she opens her eyes, she's free of her restraints, kneeling in a dark void. Adegast's puppets walk up to her from the dark.

Chris: Stay with us, my dear. Stay with Adegast. We need you here. You could be our Chosen One.

Princess: Yeah, you can eat our tiny foods forever.

Chris: Dear, why would you want to live in a world where people laugh at you?

Luz: It is beautiful here.

Eda: Luz!

Luz: And you guys think I'm special.

Eda: No!

Eda grunts as the tentacle nearly envelop her.

Back to Luz, the puppets all close in on her.

[Silence]

Suddenly, she hears a loud familiar calling out her name.

LUZ!

Luz suddenly snaps out of it and widens her eyes, and looks towards the sky. She sees Sora smiling at him as she sees his keyblade on hand, diving towards Adegast.

Luz: *gasp* Sora!

Eda/King: Sora!

Sora then swings his keyblade at Adegast hard enough to knock him away and release Eda and King. Adegast screams in pain while Eda and King land next to Luz with grunts. Sora then gets into his fighting stance in front of them.

Sora: Don't worry! I'll take care of this guy!

Eda: Not alone! This time, I can help out!

Eda then runs and stands next to Sora and wields her staff. The two nod at each other and got into their fighting stances.

Adegast: Grrr, I never took account of the boy being a fighter. No matter... I'll destroy you all the same!

Three cat puppets approach Eda. She draws a spell circle, sending a plume of orange smoke that disintegrates them.

Adegast: *screams*

Numerous fairies try to blind-side Luz, but their yells alert Sora. He then aims his keyblade at the fairies.

Sora: Luz! Duck!

Luz ducks and Sora blasts the fairies with a fireball, disintegrating them.

Luz: Thanks, Sora!

Sora and Eda land next to Luz, the three sharing a smile.

Adegast: Back off!

The three turn to see Adegast holding up King.

Adegast: Or the dog gets it.

King: I am not a‐‐ *muffled grunt*

Eda dropped her staff and raised her hands to surrender.

Luz: Guys, I'm sorry. I should have listened to you and never trusted that wizard. You were right. He isn't mystical or magical. He's just a big, slimy jerk!

Adegast: Call me whatever you want! It's over for you all-

Adegast looks around.

Adegast: Wait a minute! Where did that boy go?!

Sora, surrounded by his blue aura, suddenly appears out of nowhere and slammed his keyblade on Adegast's head with all his strength to free King. Adegast screams in pain while Sora catches King and lands next to Eda and Luz.

Luz: King!

They hug tightly. At the same time, Sora and Eda stand ready to finish off Adegast.

Adegast: Why you...

Sora: You'll pay the price for tricking Luz! Eda?

Eda smirks.

Eda: Ready.

Sora and Eda simultaneously blast a fire spell at Adegast. His screams of pain change pitch as Adegast shrinks to less than an eighth of his previous size. Everyone walks up to him. Eda then picks him up.

Eda: Well, that's the last time I take an outside referral.

She eats him.

Eda: Mmm. Oh, did you want some of that?

Sora just looks at her, disturbed.

Luz: No. I'm just confused.

Eda: Thinking of calling it quits, huh?

Luz: This place is nothing like I imagined.

Eda: Hmm. Maybe not here. But come with me. I got something to show you.

[Cut to Eda, Luz, and King on Eda's staff, with Sora flying next to them, hovering in the sky. Luz is wearing a blindfold]

Eda: Ok, you can look.

Luz takes the blindfold off.

Luz: Whoa!

[The camera pans to reveal the whole of the Boiling Isles: the decomposing body of a Titan. It's laying with its arms splayed in the sea, its skull illuminated by the setting sun]

Eda: The bones of the Isles. Up close, the Isles can be slimy‐‐

King: And very stinky.

Eda: And gross.

Sora: And disturbing.

Eda: That too. But if you look at it from a different perspective...

The four of them look to the sky above the Titan's skull, where stars are beginning to appear. As they watch, a shooting star crosses the sky, there for only a moment.

Luz: It's beautiful.

King: Yeah.

He leans against Luz.

Luz: Eda, how did you know that wizard was lying?

Eda: Look, kid, everyone wants to believe they're "chosen". But if we all waited around for a prophecy to make us special, *chuckles* we'd die waiting. And that's why you need to choose yourself.

Luz: Does that mean you'll give me a magic staff of my own?

Eda: Not yet. But... someday.

Luz leans against Eda as they all watch the sun continue to set.
