A/N: So I decided to create a second version because the idea presented itself to me. I like both versions actually XD

Summary: Azrael comes to protect Ella when Pete attacks her because she knew there was something wrong with him from the beginning

The hands around her neck serve as a rude awakening as she struggles to breathe. He was supposed to be a nice guy. She wishes this was just some foreplay that would lead to mind-blowing sex, but that apparently is wishful thinking.

Her mind and vision are hazy now as the air is slowly getting thinner and she just stops struggling altogether, the fight had left her. She casts him one more look of disdain and then closes her eyes, waiting for death to come.

The hands that wound her suddenly aren't there anymore and she finds that she can breathe. The weight on her small frame has been lifted as well. Or maybe this is what dying feels like. So she lets her mind wander and drifts off to sleep.

Pete squeezes Ella's neck with all his might, gritting his teeth at how the situation turned out. He genuinely liked the woman, but her nosy nature ruined it for him.

He feels her body go limp but that doesn't make him loosen his grip. He won't be caught like this.

"Yo scumbag,"

Pete looks up and is met with a foot to his face, sending him flying towards the other side of the room. He tries to shake off his daze and stand up, but a hand pins him to the wall while he's still seated. And now he's the one struggling to breathe.

"Who the hell are you?"

"I'm Azrael, you piece of shit. Now, I'm not allowed to kill you," She tightens her grip, and Pete wonders where she got the strength. She couldn't be any more than Ella's stature and yet he finds himself helpless... And it irks him. "But I'll make sure you're miserable for the rest of your insignificant life."

"Yeah, I'm sooo scared," He spats, mocking her.

"You should be. You'll see when you finally cross the threshold. But for now, I need you to go to sleep."

Azrael's wings emerge from her back, the primaries turning into a talon-like weapon and scratch his face as he watches — in horror or awe, the angel of death doesn't care —before she finally delivers a punch to knock him out.

She doesn't have to check if Ella's breathing because if she was dead, Azrael would definitely know.

Instead, the angel of death puts her hands in prayer and when she was satisfied, she tells Ella's still unconscious form "You'll be alright Ella. Lu should be here any minute."

The door flies off from its hinges as she says this and she nods at her favorite sibling when their eyes met.

Lucifer smirks at his sister's handiwork, but she's disappeared before he could even thank her. But he trusts she knows.
