Shikamaru grunted from where he was watching the game at. Since the game was already full he had no choice but to sit out, not like he wanted to play anyway – he was kidnapped for crying out loud!
From his friends' reactions to their cards, he could already guess who the prophet and first werewolf was. When they opened their eyes, Shikamaru found that he was correct about one of the wolves. The other one surprised him though.
Werewolf #1 was pretty surprised to see who werewolf #2 was. They grinned at their partner who smiled back and glanced around for who to kill.
"Werewolves, kill somebody." Tenten announced.
Both wolves looked around at the small group with pondering faces. Who to kill?
Hearts throbbed at Tenten's instruction. It wouldn't do to be killed this early into the game! Some were tempted to peek but they didn't because of self honour. Only one person was not afraid of being killed. That person was the Witch since they could just revive themselves or kill somebody. They had a suspicion about who the werewolf was though.
The way Lee exclaimed that time, and Gaara's face...hmm Sasuke also looked somehow and Karin too. The werewolves were among those four, they knew it!
"Werewolves close your eyes. Everybody open your eyes." Everyone blinked their eyes open and tried to glance around to try to catch who the werewolf was. "Last night, the person killed was..."
Baited breaths and muted silence*
"Nobody."
Phew!
"Do you wish to have a discussion or move on?" Tenten asked the group.
"Discussion!"
"Move on."
The discussions were more than the move ons so Tenten allowed it. "You have 60 seconds to discuss." She announced.
"Sixty seconds?! Hey, how about a minute?" Naruto bargained which led to people falling animatedly and Sakura slapping the upside of his head.
"Baka! Sixty seconds is a minute!"
"Fifty seconds left." Tenten counted dryly. Yep, Naruto's below 70 intelligence quotient was catching up with him.
"I think Lee is the werewolf." Neji accused. He tried not to look at Shikamaru and Tenten's reactions too obviously since they knew who the wolves were.
"M-ME?! I AM NOT A WOLF!" Lee denied with a vehement shake of his head and a face the shade of strawberries.
"You're clearly not acting normal which means you're lying. You're normally so polite-speeched." Ino added her opinion.
"Come to think of it, that's true! So you're the wolf, Lee!" Kiba also accused.
"I swear on my honour and as Gai-sensei's student that..."
"Lying is not manly, bushy brow. If you're a wolf just admit it dattebayo." Naruto tried to use his powerful talk no jutsu to persuade Lee into confessing but the boy was insisting that he wasn't a wolf.
"Time's up! Everyone close your eyes, close your eyes!" Tenten instructed. "Come on Kibbles, shut those eyes." She admonished the peeking one sternly, satisfied after his eyes slip closed. "Werewolves open your eyes."
The werewolves blinked their eyes open. They had a target now. More like, werewolf #1 had a target now and #2 was willing to go along with it.
"Kill somebody." They both pointed at their target enthusiastically. "Werewolves close your eyes. Everyone open your eyes."
"Who was killed?" Kiba asked in worry. Neji looked at Shikamaru who kept his usual bored expression on. Tenten was very good at poker faces and he hoped Shikamaru would be different.
"Last night, the person killed was...Ino."
"WHAT?! I didn't even do anything! Ugh! Lee!" Ino yelled in aggravation and proceeded to punch the innocent acting bowl haired wolf in sheep's clothing in the face but was stopped by Naruto. (Remember this scene?)
"Ino, we should trust bushy brows cause he's our friend!" Naruto naively defended his friend.
"This is a game, idiot. There are no friends here." Sasuke commented.
"Naruto-kun!" Lee bawled dramatically, tears and all, while all eyes narrowed at the blond in suspicion.
"You're the second wolf aren't you? That's why you're defending him, right?!" Ino hollered, vein pulsing in pure rage.
"Calm down everyone, it's just a game." Fortunately Hinata's quiet words were what calmed the blonds down. Ino was waving her clenched fist too close to Naruto's face!
"Ino was a civilian so she has no power. Ino, you are to continue the game and keep closing your eyes when told. You also can't vote anymore." The bun haired girl instructed and Ino groaned in frustration. "Do we wish to have a discussion?"
"I think we all know where the discussion would end. Let's vote!" Neji pushed.
"Yeah let's vote!" Kiba added.
"Vote!" Karin agreed.
"What? No, let's not." Naruto refused as did Lee and Hinata who wanted to support her crush's opinion.
"Vote." Sasuke and Sakura also agreed. Gaara nodded in agreement.
"So who are the nominees?" Tenten asked jokingly.
"Naruto!"
"Lee!"
Almost everyone chorused, with Kiba's shout of Lee being the loudest. Shikamaru snorted lazily. This game was interesting to watch. Neji scowled at the lazy one's poker face.
"Okay then, close your eyes everyone." They all did."Those who vote Lee raise your hands." Kiba's hand was up first followed by Neji and Sasuke's. "Those who vote Naruto, raise hands." Sakura and Karin raised their hands. "Everyone open your eyes."
They all did and most, especially Ino who was angry that she couldn't vote, glared at Lee and Naruto.
"Lee was voted out." Tenten announced and the waterworks began.
"WAAAH!"
"Lee was not a werewolf."
"What?!" Everyone suddenly felt guilty for suspecting him. But the way he shouted at the beginning...
"I AM A YOUTHFUL CIVILIAN!" Lee yelled, revealing his card. It was then it clicked for everybody. Lee was normally so overexcited for anything. ANYTHING!
As if they all practiced it, everyone said a simultaneous "Ooooh" and started apologising for their wrong assumptions. The game continued with everyone being not so sure that Naruto was a wolf now until somebody spoke.
"Come to think of it, Gaara has been silent!"
Poor Lee, he was only flustered that they were accusing him of unyouthfullness. He wasn't the wolf, you jerks!
