To be a master in the Holy Grail War requires strength, intelligence, skill, and above all adaptability. Well, let it be said that Waver Velvet had indeed become adaptable through the summoning of a god as he loudly scarfed down his fourth bowl of Ramen without a care in the world. If his servant was goanna bankrupt him then at the very least he could satisfy his hunger.

"Which of the bowls have you found to be the most satisfactory?" Zhongli asked as he calmly ate his second serving.

"The one with the thick broth, it has the most flavour." Replied Waver through the sound of munching and slurping before finishing his bowl with a satisfied thud as he slammed it on the table.

"Well, seeing as our stomachs have been satiated for a time perhaps its best we get down to business." The god said as he put both hands together.

Waver became a different person in an instant as he sat up right, his face now serious, "Right so where do we start?"

"When you first… summoned me, you stated that you had entered a war for a wish. My first question regards where this was will be taking place?" Zhongli asked.

"Here in Fuyuki city, although the locations of where servants fight each other within it are completely up to where they meet." So, he's a tactically minded, a warrior god perhaps wondered Waver.

Zhongli nodded at Waver's reply before turning to look outside the window to the people bustling about, "and what of the people?"

Ok, so not a warrior, "Anyone who isn't aware of magic isn't supposed to know about the war. It's supposed to be a secret with rules put in place like fighting at night to prevent anyone from noticing or getting hurt.

The god closed his eyes and replied, "I see. Regardless in war there is a large chance of innocents coming to harm intentional or not. If a contract is to form between us then part of it will involve not fighting anywhere near civilians or within this city, and that we will come to the aid of any innocents who are in need."

"Not fighting in the city! But that means we'd be limited to the undeveloped outskirts! The other masters and servants would know exactly where we were and could surround us! I get not wanting to put people in danger but you're giving up a lot by going outside the city." Exclaimed Waver in shock.

Zhongli breathed from his nose, a slight frown on his face as his eyes finally opened. Those golden eyes staring into Wavers as if they were mystic eyes of binding, "The loss of someone's economic well-being even if not direct can have a horrific impact on a person's life. Take this store, if the owner lost it how do you think his livelihood would be affected? Not to mention that the city would lose a valuable piece of what it could offer." He said as he proceeded to sample his third bowl of Ramen.

Waver was silent for a while his eyes although not looking down no longer met the God head on. What Zhongli was saying made sense. He had experienced something similar himself, as to enter the Clocktower he had to sell all his family belongings for money. Still, that didn't mean he liked having such restraints and thus with a sigh he said, "Alright, what you're saying makes sense but will be at a disadvantage so were going to have to plan ahead."

Zhongli nodded "Naturally, such is the nature of any war. Now I believe you have some questions for me."

Waver caught a little of guard bounced a little and coughed into his hand before saying, "Right, I have a lot of questions but the first is what god are you? I've never heard the Name Zhongli before in any human mythology or history."

Zhongli nodded understandably at that, "The reason that you know not of me is twofold. First is that Zhongli is the mortal form I take. My divine identity is the Archon Morax, Rex Lapis, lord of Geo, lord of the rock, god of war, and god of contracts. The second reason is the most prominent however, that being that I am likely not from your world."

The young Magus's nodded his head at every word spoken before asking, "What's an Archon? what's Geo? When you say you're not from this world do you mean you're from a parallel world or not from Gaia all together?" While Waver sounded confused laced within his voice was also a hint of wonder, excitement, and pride. He had summoned a god not from this timeline or even possibly from outside of Gaia's supreme reality marble!

Magecraft untold lay before him both in the recently named Morax but also in his summoning! He'd have so much to write about as already within his mind the introduction to an essay was forming.

Morax raised his hand to signal Waver to calm down before answering, "To begin Geo is one of seven elements that flow and are used through my world of Teyvat. An Archon is a higher form of god who is associated with an element from which we have formed our territories with. As for what you mean by parallel worlds I am admittedly at a loss and will need you to explain."

Thus, Waver did. He explained Gaia and what he had learned of her/it in Astromancy and Planetology, of proper human history, lost belts, the age of gods, the age of man, the throne of hero's, the swirl of the root and so on till every fact had been stated both in regard to known cosmology and its relation to the holy grail war. By the end he had drank the last drops of water from his cup and had asked for more.

"I admit learning about such a creature is extraordinary. While we gods are aware of other worlds existing, we have never known such precise details." Zhongli said.

Waver didn't reply as he was busy chugging down water to quench his throat. When finished he let out a breath and exhaustedly said, "still I can't believe you traveled across from another world, the Clocktower doesn't even know a handful of entities with that sort of power. The magical energy needed to travel between stars is crazy, and that's before getting into a discussion about humans being on a completely separate world from Gaia."

"While I appreciate the admiration traveling to other world's is outside my power. Although there is one I do know personally with such an ability, a traveler. They said to have been to countless worlds and in of themselves very much human. Regardless, the fact that the Holy Grail War is not likely the cause which brought me here is troubling." Zhongli sat back in his seat as he thought for a little bit before asking, "Are you certain that your summoning was what brought me?"

"I'm certain, you came just when I completed the summoning and my command seal show you to be the Lancer servant." On his palm were three red markings which he showed to his lancer who inspected them.

His diamond eyes stayed on Wavers hand for a solid minute before putting his own hand on the table and opening up his palm to reveal a floating, glowing, golden chess piece like object, "This is the Gnosis I mentioned earlier. Your command seals are not only linked to me but to it as well. It is proof that we are elemental Archons. It connects to Celestia, a place where some of us gods used to reside, it is still connected there from what I can tell."

Waver stared at the divine treasure hypnotically, something which should not have existed in the age of man yet was right there before him. Floating and rotating elegantly for all to see… "Put that away!" Shouted Waver as he realised anyone could see the magical artifact. He put his own hands over the Gnosis before looking around the restaurant and outside like a paranoid person.

Zhongli put the Gnosis away once more his posture still upright and solid as ever, "Apologies. I still have yet to get used to all the customs here. For someone who usually knows much about his own surrounding's it can be difficult to adapt. Rest assured I may be slow to change, but I do."

Once Waver was assured that they weren't spotted he calmed down and replied with, "It's fine, I guess like you I'm just trying to rap my head around all this… Still, you said that your Gnosis was still connected to your original world, that means at the very least it's possible to travel between the two in some form." Waver put his hands-on top of his head, "I'm pretty sure this isn't part of how summoning is supposed to go."

The god was once more silent as he mentally reviewed the information told between the two of them. Eventually, a rather unpleasant look came onto his face, "Then it appears someone or something outside of the rules of this war have influenced it. The next part of the contract that I ask you to agree to is that we will find who or whatever is responsible."

Waver scooted back in his seat a little at the angry gods face, "You think someone influenced the Holy Grail War?"

Zhongli's face softened a little from Wavers reaction but was non the less still cross, "Perhaps it is just my nature getting the better of me, as the god of contracts I do tend to pay extra attention to such things. All that being said I am most certain that I was not dead before I arrived on this world."

"Then there's definitely something going on here and I agree to the second part of the contract." A mentally tired huff escaped Wavers lips, before a smile appeared on them a few seconds later. His soon to be essay was just getting bigger and bigger by the moment. "You said that you know of other worlds is there anything there that could help us?"

"Sadly no. Barbatos knew far more on the matter than me as my focus was on the city of Liyue." Morax replied, in hindsight maybe he should have been a little more free going like his friend.

"Barbatos?" Waver wondered.

"Is something wrong?" Morax asked.

That remained to be seen thought Waver "Not wrong but I know I've heard that name before. What are the names of the other gods?"

"As stated, before I'm the lord of Geo Morax, Barbatos reins over Anemo, and Baal the element Electro. However, there are other gods who are not Archons both alive and dead such as Havria, Andrius, and Decarabian." Zhongli said confidently, he was in his element and would gladly keep going if asked to.

Waver took out a note pad that he had bought from the bookstore earlier and wrote down every name Zhongli said, "I know I've heard of those names in mythology before." His pencil tapped away at the pads edge excitedly, "This just keeps getting crazier and crazier. I wish I had a book of your world I could just read."

"It is fortunate then that this fulfills the third part of our contract. As you said we find ourselves in a rather unknown situation where both of our knowledge is needed to find the solution. When I was with the previously mentioned Traveler I had planned on asking them to help me keep the history of Teyvat alive by taking it to another world so that it could be safe from any destruction. Now I fortunately find myself in a place to accomplish something similar. I will tell you all about my world and nation so you can write it down. Is thi-"

"Yes!" Waver said childishly as the type of magical energy only found in a magus surged through him. Writing down the history of a world so that the information could be preserved for centuries and possibly even millennia on end for future generations! Let it be said that although not as good as reaching the Swirl of the Root any Magus would gladly consider that offer to be a pretty good second.

Morax gave an annoyed if nostalgic grunt at Wavers childish glee, "Then there's only one thing which needs to be discussed in order to finalise the contract. What is your wish?"

"Oh, well I'm not really interested in a wish. The truth is I just want people to treat me fairly, I wanna make all those idiots back at the Clocktower who never gave me a chance to admit to me that they were wrong!" Waver finished with a shout as he heaved, this time not going for another glass to quench his dry throat.

"An admirable goal wanting to prove yourself in such a short life span. However, I do hope you brace yourself for the conflict. A childish attitude will lead you to poor results." Zhongli stated the last part with a hint of annoyance leaving under his breath. "Now then if there is nothing else the contract has been agreed upon, but if you break it you shall suffer the Wrath of the Rock. Are we clear?" The god left the question hanging as he extended his hand.

Waver gulped a little at that threat before his resolve came back, he stood up and shook the god of contracts hand with confidence, "deal." Before realising something, "Hey! What happens if you break the contract?!"

Well at least that childish outburst was for a good reason thought Zhongli as he stared at the remaining bowls of Ramen to be finished. Chances were that things for the near future were going to be good between master and servant. Although perhaps he should have also put in the contract that Waver would have to try all seafood dishes, as the shrimp Ramen was right next to him.
