Monika's POV

"uggghhh..."

I woken up in a odd room, it seems to be a classroom but I don't recognize it.

"where am i?"

I stand up looking at the desks. I didn't see anything unusual about the desks but I did scan the room and only seeing a chalkboard and a couple of posters about science. I moved through the alley of desks, it was pretty dark, in fact it was night out which made transversing a bit hard.

"ergh, where's the light switch?"

I feel the left side of the room trying to find the switch which thankfully i did. The lights flick on as I see that the room was really unfamiliar, it was indeed a science class since I saw a counter in front of the room. Thankfully I didn't ran into it.

But if this isn't my school then where am I, I can't fully recall what happened last time, all I saw was a dark figure and I blacked out. I certainly hope the others are okay. Well, not like it matters since they're programmed after all.

I turn my attention to the door and open it and to my dismay the hallway was barely lit. It was almost like the lights were dim while I heard the humming noises from the lights.

"oh boy, what kind of mess I'm in?"

I proceed down the left hall, surrounded by doors to other classrooms. I want to get out of this school, this place is giving me a bad feeling.

I was reaching the end of the hall, apparently their's a turn to the right to continue but their's also a doorway to the left that leads downstairs. I took that since i don't want to be up here.

I went downstairs and surprisingly the stairwell is pretty lit up besides the hallway. I reach the bottom and I have to turn left, it seems there is only a single stairwell down here.

I enter the hall and it was much darker than the one upstairs. But I did saw a light shining out of a window to the next room in the hall.

I entered the classroom and see a flashlight sitting on a desk near the end of the room. "huh, how convenient. But a bit concerning."

I went up to it and grab it, it seems to be a very bright flashlight which will be very handy for me. I shine around the room and it seems to be a meeting room for clubs, I can tell since the tables were long and in a rectangle shape.

I didn't stay in to long as I left the room and was back in the hall, when I left I shine down the hall and I could of sworn I saw something moved.

"what was that?"

It was near the corner of the room of the hall, I couldn't make it out. I was getting very nervous as I turn around and went down the hall.

The only thing I hear was my footsteps and then a sudden noise that was unnatural, it almost sounded like a mourning sound but deep.

I quicken my pace, I feel like I'm not alone, which really made present with the noise I'm hearing.

The hallway is so damn long, I don't want to be out in the open if something is following me. I'm hearing groans, but they're not normal like for humans, is coming closer. I'm not too close to the turning point in the hall so I hastily went into the next classroom on the right and entered.

I quickly close the door and something ram right into it, but I didn't see what it was. I heard a loud horrid roar behind the door and suddenly a long looking hand slam against the window on the door, banging on it a few times. It slide down on the window and a sound of frustration and stamping was heard afterwards.

"what, the hell was that?"

I stood there in fear, trying to proceed what that was, is clear that something wasn't right. No, everything isn't right, I don't think I'm in my world anymore, the halls and classrooms were in a different design compared to my high school.

I have no idea what is going on but all I know is that I need to get out of here.

But, i'm honestly scare to leave this room, there's no chances that i will not run into that thing again.

But i must transverse if i what to get out of this school.

I took a deep breath and went up to the door, on the bright side I don't hear any unnerving noises so I took my chance and open the door and I was back in the hall.

"alright, so I should be on the first floor right?"

I walk down the hall and turn the corner and see an empty hallway thankfully, but I could make out a opening on the left as I move on and notice a large flight of stairs on the left side.

I went downstairs and right where I reach the bottom I heard a distance noises that was the familiar eerie sounds that thing made.

It was coming from the left, I turned around and went down the opposite way, even know it seems I'm going the opposite way to the exit.

As I continued i see posters on the far left on the walls, it seems to be advertisement for the school. I didn't pay it much mind and keep moving, but on my right were a few rooms that I didn't pay much attention to since well, I'm not alone in this school. The floor were marble and I was approaching a few windows on the left.

I decided to check it out and look outside, I didn't see any lights or anything in that matter, just darkness and my light on my flashlight. Then I heard the horrific gurgle not that far from where I'm at.

At that point i was on my very edge, that thing is very close to me, and I don't know if any of these doors will open.

I quickly turned right and keep moving, the noises were getting more frequently louder. I point my light and couldn't see what it was, but it sounded close.

I reached the area where all the lockers are, apparently these are personal lockers like any high school. But these aren't like my lockers, the lockers at mines are shoe lockers.

I can't stay and sightsee I need to get out of this school. The frantic huffing noises are really close, I quicken my pace and look back, I shouldn't have.

It was a horrifying humanoid thing, is limbs were long like a mantis. It was naked but I couldn't make off any parts, not that I want too. Then I saw is face, it looked human, like an old man with faint white hair, but it has a wide mouth and i couldn't make out any eyes. It has long fingers like is claws.

I quickly ran, not even stopping while looking for safety, but all the doors are closed.

Thankfully I was fast, I was the fastest in school but this thing was gaining on me.

I could hear the ear screeching roars right behind me. I also could hear is steps, apparently their's a half a second pause before I could hear a step. I look back and see it leaping, which made my skin cold just seeing it.

I have an idea, if this might work, I could dock under while it leaps at me and I could enter a room, if I'm lucky enough. I can't outrun this, I'll be out of breath before then.

I notice I was getting close to the bathrooms so I took this chance. I stop and time it just right and saw it leap right at me, I ducked really low and it flew over. I ran into the room and close it before it could jump in.

I kept the door shut as it slam against it multiple times, there was times where I couldn't keep it shut and it nearly overwhelmed me. I grunted and i was shaking, it stops. I could hear the low groans as it walked away.

I couldn't believe i managed to kept it shut, for a certain i thought i was a goner. I was patting, I felt my forehead sweat, I was still shaken to my core. I slide down behind the door having one of my legs limp while the other was bended up.

I couldn't believe what I just saw, all of this doesn't make any sense, what kind of horrors am I in?

I covered my face with both hands, I don't want to leave the bathroom, if that thing is still out there, it'll certainly get me. I put my hands down, looking at the walls and glancing at the stalls for a second.

"where am I? This isn't my world isn't it?"

I just remembered my abilities, I couldn't access the console or anything else. This whole world is just off in every way, is nothing like my world.

No, this is not a game, but I know for certain that monster, is not in the real world.

You know, is ironic that I always wanted to leave, but not like this. Now I need to get out of here, but that thing is fast, one wrong move and I'm done.

Well, I can't stay here for long. I have no choice but to make my way out of here.

Then, I heard distance slams against metal, which sounded like above the ceiling. It soon turn more and more banging.

"oh no..."

I got up, I now know what it is. Is in the ventilation systems.

I immediately leave the bathroom, what made this less intense was that is traveling through the vents, so hopefully it won't know that I'm not in the bathroom.

I quickly ran down the hall with my flashlight on, I saw a corner and turn to the left, and to my relief it was the entrance to this school.

I didn't hesitate and ran to it and pull on the door, it didn't open.

"oh no..."

I push and pull frantically, the door is locked. I try the others but the same thing, they're all locked.

"no!"

I realize I shouldn't yell, that thing could hear me. In fact I could hear it from the distance, even know i wasn't far from the bathrooms.

I turned around, I wasn't gonna give up that easily.

I need to find another way out or something that might help.

I ran down the left hall, the thing was now in the ventilation again, it was now following me as it got through the end of the vent from down the hall behind me.

I could hear is unsavory yells behind me. I wasn't so close to the corner so I went into the nearest classroom and entered while closing it behind me.

I backed away and turn around, the room was slightly dark but i can make out the tables and see a projector in the middle of the room.

That thing crash into the door while yelling, crawling at the door. At first I thought I was safe until it jumped at the window, leaving a crack.

"oh shit!"

I ran to the nearest exit on the door which was the north side of the room. I open the door and was about run out but realize i didn't heard a loud crash. I look left and saw it leap right around the corner which I promptly yelled and quickly shut the door.

I close it just in time, it was banging on the door, i held it shut but then heard it jumped away. I was not calming down just yet, I could hear it in the hall on the other side of this room and notice that it was jumping into the window again and manage to break in.

"oh fuc--!"

I quickly open the door and ran out and run down the hall, the thing grabbed the door right before it closed and swing it open and chase after me. I was running and notice a door coming up on the left side.

I entered and shut the door, thankfully their was no windows for it to break into.

I notice that i was in a cafeteria, it was large room with plenty of tables still up. Apparently the moon was shining through the windows outside. I was still being hunted by this thing as it bash into the door.

I need to find a place to hide, this thing is not gonna give up easily. I look left and right and saw some interesting things. I could go left and into the kitchen and find a place to hide. Or I could go right and go up the stairs and into the stage backroom behind the curtains.

I was struggling to choose which one, but I heard that thing was now in the vents so I panicky choose the kitchen, I could find somewhere to hide in there.

I quickly ran and open the door and shut it with momentum and hastily look around. While I was looking the thing was making a lot of noises and was getting close. I went behind the wall in-between the room and look at the lower covers where they put the cooking utensils.

I went to the nearest one at the end and checked it, I open it and it seems to be spacey enough for me to hide.

"This could work."

I went in without a second thought and closed it and waited, it wasn't long until it was in the cafeteria. I heard a loud crash on the ground, it could be the vent cover and then I heard that thing loud bellowing noise.

I had my flashlight off as it was making noises in the cafeteria, moving tables and chairs. I sit there in fear, I try to calm my breathing but that was a little hard.

All I see was darkness, and hearing that thing making a lot of noises outside, whether is roaring or moving stuff violently.

Then I heard is patterning steps and a thud that sounds pretty close to where I'm at. At that moment I was frightened, I didn't want it to find me. But I kept my mouth shut and just listened.

It was scurrying around while breathing insufferable way. It was trying to look for me, but thankfully it given up and scurry away and jumped over the counter and was back in the vents.

I could hear the banging in vents as it was going away. At that moment I felt like I could breathe. I was hesitant to open the cover, but I need to get out of here.

I open it and got out and turned on my flashlight. I was not happy about my whole situation, i'm still trying to figure out what's going on, but i don't have the slightest clue.

I left the kitchen and went to the door, but i second thought of using this way. That thing is fast, and i don't know where it could be. But all I need to do is listen, and try not to be seen.

Easier said than done, I turned to my left looking at the stage. I went up to it and figure their might be a backway out.

I went up the stairs and was on the stage, I was near the middle and turned back seeing all of those tables. I honestly remember a odd memory I had, I was on the stage given a speech about something. I don't remember it too much but I did remember a lot of attention from them.

Is odd, if my world is nothing but a simulation then why can I remember a memory that I can't recall having, let alone living in that moment.

I wish I could pounder about this but I must get out of this nightmare. I went behind the curtains and shine my light around the area. All I saw was a cardboard prop of a bush and a stack of chairs.

I went to the left side behind the walls and shine left and right. To the right was a narrow hall to another room, probably the backroom to change or something. And to my left is a steep walkway to the left so I checked that out.

I turned the corner and saw a exit, I was happy and hastily went and push on the door but to my dismay it was locked.

"no..."

I was pretty upset, but I can't make too much noise or it could hear me.

I turned around and took the path to the backroom and see it was a changing room.

There was a row of desks and mirrors to do makeup and on the other side was a row of wardrobes.

I walk down the alley and went around the corner and down the hall, oddly enough a light was on near the end as I reach the door, I figure I'll be back in the main halls so I need to be careful.

But where am I'm going, the only exits are locked and I'm going through this school blind. Maybe, if I'm lucky their could be a key or something I could use to get out.

That's my only hope for now, as I grab the knob and twist it and open it and I was back in the hall.

I close the door gently and turned back, I look back and forth not hearing that thing as I went down to my left side and moved cautiously down the hall.

I shine through the rooms looking for anything that might shine, even know that seems unlikely. I continue looking through each room.

I walk down the hall, their was a lot of lockers on the left side and I notice a room on the left. I went up to it curious if I might find something in here.

I entered and saw that the room wasn't too big but wasn't too small either. It has desks in a row of four and a long counter top at the wall on the left side.

Their was a projector on near the middle of the room. I walked up to it and see that it was showing a paragraph, I didn't know if it might be useful but i read it anyway.

It was just about how to dissent a frog property. At first I figured that this was useless but I thought about it before leaving, why was this showing instructions in this room and does it have some answers.

At that point, I thought it was showing me a way to get out, like is guiding me. So I took this as a hint and went out to find the biology class.

I walk down the hall getting close to the turning point. It was quiet but it wasn't comforting, I know that thing is somewhere so I can't be comfortable.

I turn the corner and notice a stairwell coming into sight, it was a two sided stairway up so I know their's a stairway close.

I was looking at each doors trying to find that class but couldn't really. I was pretty afraid to keep moving, that thing could be anywhere. But I was tempted to take my chances and go around the hall to check if the class is close by, but I decided to just go upstairs and check.

I went upstairs and was getting pretty regretful on my decision because stepping on the stairs were echoing throughout the halls.

I was afraid if it might hear my loud footsteps, I swear these stairs better not be the death of me.

I thankfully got up the stairs and was on the second floor. I went up to one of the classroom and check their names.

I walk down the east hallway to search for the class until I heard that dreadful sound, the roaring sound. It seems to be pretty far but it sounded like it was on this floor so this will be problematic.

I just hoped that the class is not too far, or too close to it. I proceed with caution while shining my light at the rooms, I didn't find the room on this side so I turn the corner.

As I was continuing I heard a loud thud of something falling and a unfamiliar yell. It sounded less human and was bit high pitch.

I was on edge, I just want to get out of this school and find a way out of here. I find my courage and continue and shine my light at the classroom and found it.

"here it is."

I said quietly as I entered while trying to be quiet. I shut it quietly and turned around and notice a row of trades with frogs already open on the counter tops.

The room was pretty normal in assumption to the frogs. Their was posters on the wall about biology and stuff you would expect. Five counters in two row separating each other.

I was shining at the counter tops looking for anything that might be useful until I saw a key on one of the counters on the third row. I was relieved to see it and approach it, I grab it and looked at it, it has a tag hanging on the key.

"principal office..."

Aw great, is not for the exit. I put it inside my blazer since I don't have any pockets. Right when I did that I heard a tray clanking as I shine my light on the left side at the last counter top.

I was a bit on edge but was about to let that slide until I heard a high pitch moarn that wasn't human. I then heard sticking slaps on the ground and saw a green flipper.

I backed away and maneuver around the counter as I saw a large frog as it continued mourning displeasent.

I was appalled at the sight as it stands up revealing is open chest being held by tape. "what the fuc..."

I backed away as it slowly slap is flippers torwards me. I was about to run out until i heard the dreadful sounds of banging metal coming fast.

The vent cover fly out and smash into the wall which i property yelped frightened at that.

The monster groan to notified is present, it looked straight at me and jumped down while still growling. I was backing away, eager to run out until suddenly that frog jumped that thing instead.

It yelled loudly which was not pleasing at all, I turned tail and ran, taking this as my opportunity to run away and get to the principal office.

I ran down the hall now scattering on where to go. My head was looking frequently for the office and thought if this school has the same place where the office in my school could be.

The office shouldn't be too far as I ran down the hall in front of me, away from the room I was as I shine my light on each room and notice one room that was different than the rest.

I approach it and look at the plaque and it read: "principal office" I pull out the key and insert it into the keyhole and open the door. I entered and shut the door.

I took the moment to calm myself for now, I then search the room and notice a key already on the desk. I didn't pay any mind to the surroundings of the office since I want to leave as soon as possible.

I grab the key but heard the thing screaming down the hall, and it didn't sound too far.

I turned looking at the door and heard is footsteps and breathing coming close, does it know where I'm at?

I looked around only seeing normal furniture of drawers and a couch by the side. I need to hide as I eyed the desk, I went around it and see that is enough space for me to hide.

I crotch down and turn off my lights, it probably knows where I'm at if it sees my light.

Sooner than later my hunch was correct, it was crawling at the door and broke the window, the window was wide enough for it to enter so I kept my breather calm and steady.

I heard it noises as it grunted and sniff, it moved away slowly like is searching for me. It was growling and then I heard the sound of clanking from the door and then footsteps going away.

I was relieved but wasn't entirely, I still need to get out as I stood up and turn on my flashlight and moved on.

I open the door slowly while peaking out and looking at each direction. Apparently it was gone, that's strange.

I left the room and went down the left side of the hall and quicken my pace to get to the stairs.

And then I heard that horrific roar, it wasn't too far behind me.

"oh shi--!"

I started running while looking back and see it far, it leap away from the walls and started chasing me.

I was horrified as I turned forward and run as fast as I can, I was getting close to the stairs but I could hear him coming really close. I don't have enough time to climb down the stairs without the risk of triping and falling down the stairs.

I could hear his screams really close, his steps were dangerous close, I didn't want to look back knowing that it'll be certain death. I was getting near the stairwell as I did a strategic move.

I jumped right on top of the middle of the railing, turn around and drop not too far from the rails and grab it. The monster already leaped right when I dropped and went right over the railing and into the middle of the stairway.

I heard is cries in pain as I looked down and dropped, I landed on the stairs but one of my footing was off and I fell and tumble down the stairs which wasn't that long.

I was in pain now but it didn't hurt that bad, but that thing was already getting back up but was struggling for a bit. I didn't hesitate and got up and ran, my left leg was strain but I still ran as fast as I could down the hall.

It hurts, but I didn't try to fathom the pain, it felt like adrenaline was keeping me going as I heard it screams which was in a different pitch. I looked back and see it chasing me but is right hand was broken and bended in a unnatural way.

Due to that it was much slower but was still gaining on me. I was too slow but I didn't slow down. I was reaching the end of the hall and was about to turned left and continue. The exit was a couple of meters away.

I had the key in hand, ready to put in the hole and open it, but that thing will make it stressful.

It still yells at me as the roars still send shivers to me, I didn't bother looking back since I was reaching the exit. I just certainly hope that this key is for the exit.

I reach the doors and looked for the key hole, I found it quickly and shoved it in and twisted it. I heard a click and push the the door open and close it, seeing it close by as i shut the door and breathe.

I was patting fast, I was looking at the ground and look back and notice that it wasn't there.

"huh...?"

I backed away, I didn't want to think about it much as i turned around and saw an empty parking lot with lamp lights shining orange.

The air was thin, it was oddly quiet beside the buzzing noises from bugs. I didn't heard any cars from the distance or anything else.

I did not see any lights beside the lights in the parking lot. This whole area is deserted.

"where...The hell am i?"

This cannot be the real world, If it is then I don't want it to be. It just can't, that monster disappearing says otherwise.

I sit down on the steps just reflecting on everything that I just witness. At this point, my left thigh was getting sore, I moarn displease at it as I held on to it.

I looked around beyond the parking lot and only see trees surrounding this area and a path for cars on the west side of the parking lot.

At this point I'm truly alone, not even my so call friends are here, not even him. I'm alone in this parking lot behind the school.

"guys..."

I don't know what to do, but I'm not staying. I'm going out to find someone. I just hoped that I won't find any of those, monsters.

I got up slowly since my leg was in pain and got down the steps and limp my way down the lot and proceed to road out of here. Until suddenly I felt heavily daze, and my vision went blurry.

"w-whaa..."

I want to point this out; Originally I was going to try to make a "gmod" Video but I'm a amateur and my idea was that each character was seeing through their own perspective of stuff their going through. Via in first person. But I just came to the conclusion of writing a story.

I'm just used to making story since I'm accustomed to it, and making "videos" Were new to me. So yeah, that's the origins.

BTW their will be some combat in this story but that will be later on.
