Chapter 2:

Amendiel showed up at the penthouse early that morning, looking for his brother, knowing he most likely was still asleep at this time.

"Luci? Are you awake?" Amenadiel yelled through the penthouse.

"I bloody am now!" Lucifer yelled irritated from his bedroom, "What in Dad's name are you doing here at this early hour?"

"There's something I need to tell you, it's important." Amenadiel started. He didn't know how his brother was going to react to this news.

"Well, what are you waiting for?" Lucifer was still agitated that his brother had woken him up. He was only sleeping for a few hours.

One of the few nights he gets with Chloe while her offspring is with Daniel. So he did not like being disturbed, "I have a beautiful detective in my bedroom and I want to hold her close to me." Lucifer groaned

"This is more important," Amenadiel said.

"What can be more important than the one woman who loves me for me?" Lucifer countered back.

Amenadiel takes a photo out of his back pocket, "Do you remember this woman?"

"I gave her the best night of her life on her honeymoon. Like I did with a lot of women, but what has she to do with you waking me up at this hour of the day when you well know that the detective doesn't have the urchin." Lucifer asked, a bit confused.

"Well that night, created her." Amenadiel showed his brother a picture of a girl with caramel-colored hair, "Her name is Kimberly, and she is 16 years old."

"You come here early in the morning, disturbing my time with the detective, to tell me I created a child with a human?" Lucifer asked.

"Yes, but that is only half of it, she knows, she is in trouble, and she's coming to LA to look for you." Amenadiel said, seeing his brother go pale, "Father had me watching over her till the time was right."

"I need a drink," Lucifer said and walked towards his private bar full of expensive scotch. He poured himself a drink. He didn't take a sip but drank the whole glass in one go.

"How? How can this have happened? We don't procreate with humans? Or it has to be a miracle like Chloe." Lucifer asked confused, "I've never been almost human like you, brother."

"I don't know why, but Father asked me to watch over her, to keep her safe, he said she would be important someday." Amenadiel continued, "One other thing when she shows up, she is most likely going to be in a wheelchair. Please, brother, be angry at me all you want, but don't turn your back on her?" Amenadiel pleaded

"Don't turn your back on whom?" came from at the top of the stairs that led to the bedroom.

"It turns out my brother just told me that he's been watching over a child for years that is supposed to be mine.'' Lucifer turned towards where his girlfriend was coming down the stairs in a red silk robe that was way too big for her.

"The human that believes that he is her father is a bad man. He'll be one of yours in time. He seeks to take possession of her, and that can only mean dark things for he is an abusive person. It's why her mother left him. He seeks to punish the woman for leaving him by taking her daughter from her." Amenadiel said to the couple before turning to his brother again, "I am not lying to you brother. Charlie isn't the first Nephilim in a long time among humans, Kimberly is, but she has no clue about her origins." Amenadiel said to his brother, "she needs to learn about it in case she starts to favor our kind rather than humans."

"Is there anything else I need to know? Like why is she going to be in a wheelchair if you have been watching over her?" Lucifer asked rather curiously.

Amenadiel swallowed this was going to be the hardest part to admit, "Between Mike and the problems with Charlie and Dad's visit, things did get lax on my watch on her and there was that period when I was almost human, where she was unguarded. She is a gymnast, she was hurt during practice." Amenadiel answered.

"Did dear old Dad ask you to keep this from me? You had to do one guardian job, Amenadiel, and even that you did fail to do" Lucifer said angrily. Why was he so angry all of a sudden?

"Dad told me to wait till you were ready. When he was here to visit he told me you were ready." Amenadiel said

"So again Dad decides what I can and can't know." Lucifer growled, "And for your information, I am not Dad. I won't turn my back on my blood."

"Good because she won't be alone. She will have one of her friends and her boyfriend with her." Amenadiel said. This was going better than expected. If only his eyes were showing.

"When can we expect her?" Chloe asked.

"She could turn up at any time," Amenadiel answered Chloe.

"And you are telling me this NOW!" Lucifer shouted out of the top of his lungs. His eyes showing their bright red color. His voice making the crystal bottles, containing his expensive scotch, on his shelf shake.

"I tried to tell you earlier, but you didn't take any of my calls! I've been all over the city looking for you." Amenadiel now started to shout back.

"I have a nightclub to run Amenadiel! I was sleeping among other things!" Lucifer yelled back, "Even the devil needs a few hours of sleep! Not to mention I also have a day job. "You could have told me months ago!" Lucifer continued his rage.

"I could have, but there didn't seem to be a pressing need. She's still 2 years away from turning 18. Dad said if she was going to start showing powers, it would most likely be around then. Besides, I'll admit I've been a bit distracted." Amenadiel was back to his calm self again.

"Distracted? I have a daughter, which is unusual, but what if Remiel or another sibling found out?" Lucifer growled, " They had difficulties with your offspring, mine means the end of the world in their eyes."

"Father has been cloaking her, to protect her from that. At least I think he has, it's the only reason I can think of, for why she was never discovered." Amenadiel sighed.

"What do you mean you think? You don't know for sure? For all, we know, she can be in even bigger danger than she already is!" Lucifer shouted again.

Chloe placed her hand on Lucifer's arm to calm him down again.

"Father doesn't tell anyone everything." Amenadiel countered back, "not even his favored one."

"You're still not going to let that go, that he gave you that bloody necklace, are you?" Lucifer said.

"It's okay, Amenadiel. She is welcome here." Chloe said with a soft voice. "We will help her, but I think she should know who she is as soon as possible." Her hand still is on the devil's arm.

"Yes, agreed." Amenadiel sighed.

"Of course she's welcome here, she's my daughter." Lucifer answered, "I still can't believe I am a father." Lucifer said stunned as he dropped onto his piano bench.

"It will be okay, babe. You will see." Chloe tried comforting her devil.

He looked shocked, "You've been watching her, so tell me about her." as he shows Chloe the photo of Kim.

"She is sweet and caring, just like you brother. With occasionally a temper matching yours. Everyone can't help but love her. Except for the man who helped raise her." Amenadiel said, "you will be proud of her. She punishes in her own way. She is all for love and justice. She's a gymnast, she's specialized on the beam. She favors pink, she's very loyal to her friends and has a great deal of compassion. Kim has a close group of friends that would do anything for her, and is in a committed relationship with her boyfriend of three years."

"It sounds like someone else I know." Chloe smiled while she looked at the picture, "she's pretty. You said something about a hospital? What happened?" asked Chloe.

I'm not certain, but I overheard one of the doctors say she fell from the beam and hit her head." Amenadiel said, "I looked at her charts, and she fell and shattered her leg, and cracked her skull in the fall."

Lucifer huffed, "Good job, Guardian. She could have died, and I could have never known my flesh and blood."

Amendiel looked ashamed he knew he was right, not knowing his actions did save her by saving another, "Your right brother, I got lax when the human who thought he was her father left her life, and with her group of friends around her."

"How are we going to tell her about who she really is?" Chloe asked curiously, "Should I call Linda?"

"I'm not sure really?" Lucifer said, "Just tell her the truth, I guess".

"I think we might need Linda for this," Chloe said. She is surprised how shellshocked Lucifer seemed to be.

"Baby, it will be okay. We all survived the truth. She will too." Chloe said to her boyfriend.

"No thanks to the guardian angel asleep at the wheel!" Lucifer said.

"Lucifer, Amenadiel did his best." Chloe said, "He made mistakes, but she is alive and on her way here."

"When she gets here, maybe I can do something to get her out of that chair, fix my brother's mistake," Lucifer said agitatedly.

"Lucifer, be careful, we don't know the consequences of your feathers on a Nephilim," Amenadiel warned.

"So I'm supposed to let her remain in that chair, broken!" Lucifer countered back.

"She is going to heal, with time. She might need surgery or two. We don't know how bad it was."

"Bloody hell, you better hope so, or by Dad, I will make you regret it, brother!" Lucifer growled, "Fine. I'll leave word with Donald that if anyone named Kimberly in a wheelchair comes looking for me, to send her up." Lucifer sighed in defeat.

"Lucifer calm down." Chloe said, "Let's welcome them first, and then we will see what needs to be done." Only Chloe could manage to do that to the devil. Calm him down like that.

He took a deep breath and did so, "fine, detective." He goes and pours another drink, "What is Dad's plan this time? How does he want to use me this time?" Lucifer rambled.

"I don't know brother." Amendiel answered, "We never know what Dad's plan is, why should this time be any different?"

"Because in my experience, when family pops in for a visit, things tend to go badly. Do you need an example? Mom, Uriel, Remiel, Michael, Dad... do I need to go on?" Lucifer didn't trust his family for one bit, "Oh and I didn't mention your stunts in the beginning." Lucifer added.

"This could be a good thing since she has been on earth all this time." She was trying to keep her devil calm because this conversation would soon spiral the wrong way. "You said she was accompanied by a friend and her boyfriend, why don't you tell us about them?"

Lucifer grasped his glass a little tighter, not sure why this made him feel strangely possessive, or suspicious, or both. He didn't have a name for what he was feeling, but he wasn't liking it.

Chloe saw the look on his face, and it made her smile. This was a good sign. She knew he was feeling protective, even if he didn't know it yet.

"The friend acts as a protective big brother towards her, making sure she is taken care of, and no one harms her. The boyfriend moved into the town 3 and a half, close to 4 years ago. There was an instant attraction. They have been together almost as long as he has been there. He has the makings of a good man. He is a good student, a model citizen, meshes well with the group, does volunteer work with them, teaches kids martial arts. Treats her well, not just like a princess..., "

"Which she actually is." Lucifer interrupted his brother.

Amenadiel sighed, but continued, "But like an equal who he values and respects. There is a genuine fondness and affection between them. They really seem to love each other, but most of all they are happy."

"That's good. Isn't it, babe?" Chloe asked.

"Good?" Lucifer huffed, 'That sounds like half the men I met in Hell. First, they seem rather perfect until you marry them, and then they will turn into monsters." He was feeling overprotective over someone he hadn't met yet, "I remember a man like him. He was the perfect boyfriend until they were married for six months, he beat her every day until one day he smashed her skull against the wall. I don't want that for my daughter." Lucifer was shocked by his own words. He never thought he would accept being a father so easily. He wanted to give her everything he never got from his own father, most of all love. This young man better think twice before putting his hands on the princess of Hell.

"There's nothing I've seen to show he violent at all," said Amendiel, who always saw the good in people.

"Well, considering your track record on the matter, excuse me if I don't take your word for it." Lucifer countered back.

"I believe you're being a bit overprotective babe, but it's sweet." Chloe smiled, seeing right through her boyfriend.

"No, detective, I saw with my own eyes what men are capable of." Lucifer shot back, "The darkest souls have the cleanest cover stories and armor. Amenadiel only sees the good in humans and hasn't been doing a good job at that, considering she is arriving broken."

"Just meet him first, if there's something bad, you'll sense it, until then try to keep an open mind." Chloe understood where Lucifer was coming from, having to see the worst of the worst in his kingdom, " He might surprise you."

"I really hope you are right, love, but seeing what I saw, I am not easily surprised anymore." Lucifer shrugged.

She says with a smirk, "you were surprised by me."

"Yes, detective, but you, my love, are a miracle." Lucifer grinned.

Chloe smiled back at him, "So is she it seems," she said with a wink, "I'm sure that boy never knew what hit him."

About ten minutes from Lux, a few beams appeared out of thin air. A pink one and a white one, behind a small garage.

The beams of light dissipate behind the building out of sight of the public. Jason, Tommy, and Kim in her pink chair took form again.

They walked around to the front of the shop, Tommy pushing Kim's wheelchair.

"What are we going to tell your uncle Jake, Jase?" Kim asked curiously.

"The truth, Kim. Besides, you know uncle Jake, he adored you, he'll be happy to help out." Jason answered her question with a smile, "He is the one that gave Mr. Hart the black eye, after, Mr. Hart got into the fight with you and your mom at the neighborhood barbecue when we were 10. So he would be happy to stick it to him now while you look for your real dad."

Kim sighed, "I am curious what he is going to be like. My real father, I mean."

"Good question, but knowing you, he can't be that bad now can he," Tommy said while pushing the chair.

They walked into the open door, and a chiming sounded, Jason, calls out "Uncle Jake, you here?"

At first, the place seems empty, but then sees a pair of legs wiggling out from under a car. "Jason, is that you?" came a voice from under the car.

"Yeah, uncle Jake, it is me and a few friends," Jason responded.

"Wait a moment I am coming. What are you doing here in LA?" his uncle asked.

"It's a bit of a long story uncle Jake." Jason.

Tommy whistled at seeing the car that he was working on.

"Give me the cliff notes version then," his uncle says.

"We are sticking it to Mr. Hart." Jason said, "We all know how much of a fan you are of his." Jason said sarcastically.

"What did he do now?" Jake asked already a bit angry, as he walked over to the three.

"As I said, uncle, it's a long story, but I knew you would want to help Kim out if you could," Jason responded.

"He's trying to take custody of me, and take me away from my mother." Kim started the story, "The solution is simple, though I need to find my real father." Kim added, " but until I do that, we need a place to stay?"

"Of course, you can stay here. Do I know him?" Jake asked.

"I don't know, my mom said that he owns a club out here. She said his name was Morningstar." Kim said with a small hope that he would know him.

"Lucifer Morningstar?" Jake asked

"Yeah," Kim said as Jake finally comes fully into view of the little group and sees Kim in the chair, his face falls, "honey, what happened to you? He didn't do that, did he?"

Kim shook her head, " no, I fell off the beam and hurt myself, and he's trying to use this as a way to punish my mother by trying to take me from her. So we ran and are in hiding if you'll let us stay, that is."

"You are welcome to stay here, and to be honest, Mr. Morningstar is a good customer of mine." Jake said, "but first things first. You can stay with me, in the apartment upstairs, above the garage. My place big enough for all of us to share. you can stay there as long as you want."

"I'm working on Mr. Morningstar's car now," Jake said.

"This one?" Tommy asked as he looked at the black corvette with awe.

"Yes, that's the one." Jake smiled, "I love working on this car. I'm just doing an oil change today."

Tommy whistled again.

"What kind of person is he?" Kim asked.

"I don't really know him that well, but he tips really well," Jake said.

"Does that mean you have his address?" asked Kim.

Jake nodded, "I wouldn't normally give my customer's address, but for this, I am willing to make an exception. He lives about 10 minutes drive from here. Above the nightclub Lux." Jake said while looking up and writing down the address of the famous nightclub, "Although, I don't really like you guys going to that club. A little too flashy, too gaudy for my taste. If I had a daughter, I wouldn't want her working there with the way those girls have to dress." He gives her the address from Lux.

"Thank you, Uncle Jake." Jason said, "Do you have a car we can use?"

"How did you get here? "Jake asked curiously.

"We took a cab from the airport, but it's gone now," Kim answered they were used to hiding the truth.

"I have a spare jeep in the back. It's nothing fancy, but she takes you anywhere you need to go." Jake said.

"Great" Jason hugs his uncle.

"Are you going to get better?" Jake asked a bit worried about the girl in front of him.

"Yes, I just need to start physical therapy in about three weeks. I should be walking again soon enough, I hope." Kim answered him with hope in her voice.

They all thanked Jason's uncle. He hands Jason the keys as Tommy helps Kim into the jeep and puts her wheelchair in the back.

"You take good care of the little lady here boys," Jake said, as they pull out of the parking spot to head out.

"We will sir," Tommy answered.

"Call mom for the whole story, which she should be getting from Kim's mom," Jason responded. As they pull away from the garage and onto the main road.

"Ready, Kim?" Jason asked curiously.

"As ready as I'll ever be." Kim sighed nervously, "I hope he believes me and accepts me. I don't know what I'll do if he rejects me."

"We will cross that bridge when it comes to that." Tommy tried to comfort her.

"If he does, I don't know what I'll do, he is the only protection from the man I thought was my father." Kim sighed.

"We are about to find out." Jason said pointing at the big letters on the outside of the building, "Lux, this must be it."

She nodded and gulped.

Don't worry, pinky, you'll charm him like you charm everyone else." Jason said while he winked at her.

"There is a security man, maybe he knows if his boss is home?" Tommy pointed at Donald.

"Let's hope," said Kim as they pulled into the parking garage and park. Tommy helped her out as Jason got her chair out than the three head up to the man standing guard.

"Can I help you?" Donald asked

"Yes, can you please tell us if Mr. Morningstar is home?" Kim asked in a small voice.

"Who's asking?" Donald wanted to be sure he had the right person in mind.

"My name is Kimberly Hart. He most likely isn't expecting me, but it's vital I talk to him." Kim answered friendly.

"The boss is expecting you. I will guide you towards the elevator." Donald said which shocked Kim and her friends, they looked at each other, before quickly following the guy inside. Tommy pushing Kim's chair.

Donald opened the elevator and pushed the code 999 before pushing the button penthouse. The three of them boarded the elevator, struggling a little to get the chair in there, but eventually all in and ready for what was next.

"How can he possibly know?" Kim asked confused

"I have no idea,'' said Tommy.

"I guess we ask him when we get there." Jason smiled at her.

"Regardless of what happens, we are there for you, Kim," Tommy said Before the door opened and three people came into view.
