"Hey! Hello? Are you okay kid?" asked Kadomon
"I don't even know what's going on anymore" seconds later Subaru fell unconscious.
"Hey! Jeez kid did you really have to faint? I know I'm sexy but that's too much man." Kadomon couldn't help but make a joke as he picked up Subaru and dropped him down onto the stairs.
"It'll be a while before he wakes up and hopefully this doesn't push away some of my customers. I can't have that now." Kadomon then walked towards his stand and got a glass of water and an appa.
"Hey kid. Wake up" he then splashed Subaru with the glass of water and prepared to get another."
"Huh? W-Where am I? You said what?" Subaru asked while he was barely regaining consciousness.
Kadomon then placed the cup and appa in front of Subaru and said "Here kid you fainted and I don't want you scaring away my customers. So take these. It's on the house."
"Uh Thank—." Subaru reached out to grab the items but he suddenly lost the will to speak as he was left breathless. There she was a couple feet away from him; the most breathtakingl girl he had ever seen that he so desperately wanted to apologize to. She had made his first day here the happiest he had been in a long time but fate was cruel and wouldn't let him sit down and talk to her. There was no way in hell that he was going to waste this opportunity.
Subaru then got up, barely able to stand and walk correctly as he was forced to limp over to her. He then called out to her "Wait up. Hey wait for me. Satella!"
The half elf he called out to visibly flinched but the name did seem to gain her attention. On the other hand everyone in the nearby vicinity got angry, especially the Demi humans.
"Oh no he didn't!?"
"Oh yes he did girl."
"That bastard, does he not know what he's saying!?" Murmurs around the crowd erupted
Subaru didn't hear any of this as he was too busy hypnotized by this beautiful girl. As he got closer to her, she stopped walking and began to listen intently to what he was saying.
"Please don't ignore me. My disappearance and not doing what you said was my fault. I didn't know what else I could do so I went back to the loot house after that but I still couldn't find you.I'm sorry for only thinking about myself but I'm glad to see your alright. I can't believe I got to see you again. Satella"
Subaru finally caught up to her but as she turned around he was absolutely horrified to see her expression. He expected her to smile and run up to him but instead he was met with a look of disgust. His heart broke in two when he saw the way she looked at him.
"What in the world is wrong with you? I don't know who you think you are but don't ever call me by the name of the witch of envy! What were you thinking!"
"W-What?" Subaru was starting to tear up, he couldn't believe it. This same girl that smiled and joked around with him in his first loop. She even proceeded to cry when she saw the state he was in during the previous loop but was now looking at him with nothing but fury.
"I'll ask one more time why did you call me by the name of the witch of envy?"
"What are you talking about? You told me that was your name."
"I don't know who told you that but they have a terrible sense of humor. The name of the witch of envy is the very definition of taboo and most would not even dare to say." She continued to glare at Subaru and it continued to chip away at his already destroyed heart.
"Yeah kid that's fucked up."
"Yeah man you really crossed the line with that one."
Subaru had all eyes on him and he couldn't even form a sentence as all these horrible feelings overtook him. He was confused, frightened and at the same time a little angry. "She lied to me? Why? No, she must've had a reason. I have to ask her but it hurts. The way she's looking at me right now. Why can't I speak?"
"Very well then, if you have nothing more to say then I'm leaving!" Emilia prepared to walk off.
"Wait" Subaru tried to call out but out of the corner of his eye he spotted a familiar color pattern. That's felt!
With the speed Felt had at her disposal she easily caught up with Emilia and with a swipe she took off with Emilia's insignia.
Emilia immediately realized what happened and shouted out towards Subaru "My insignia, no way! Were you working with her!?"
"What no." He tried to call out to her again but she didn't bother to listen and within seconds she dashed after Felt. Subaru was then left behind watching as she disappeared off into the distance. He ran out of the streets and into the alleyway. He received hundreds of glares.
"What? That makes zero sense. She told me that was her name, and I even saw her say my name last time. She definitely remembered me. I have to be going crazy, I saw her crying and everything. How could she possibly forget me now? Are you telling me that it was all an illusion?"
Subaru was starting to get angry not at Satella but at the situation he was in.
"I hate this place, why the fuck was I even summoned here in the first place?" Subaru started to hold his head between his hands but suddenly he heard a familiar voice.
"What the fuck are you talking about idiot? If you don't want to get hurt, you better cough up everything you got." Subaru turned and saw familiar faces. He was extremely angry and to see these idiots again, it only angered him even further.
"Just stop it already, nobody can be this damn persistent!" Subaru shouted towards the trio.
"What!? You think you can talk shit to us?" The skinny thief got angry and he pulled out his trusty knife ready to teach this kid a lesson.
Subaru proceeded to walk up to them intending to walk past them and said "Now move it, I don't have time for this shi-"
He couldn't finish his sentence as he felt a familiar burning sensation overwhelm him. Moments later he lost the strength to stand, as his legs gave out, he fell face first into the ground.
"Holy shit, you stabbed him!?" The bigger one pointed out
"No!? I didn't mean to! He walked into my blade."
Subaru could barely register what was going on as he felt an unbearable pain. "Gah"
He could feel something exiting from the hole in his back, followed by more voices.
"You idiot why would you pull it out?" The bigger man asked the shortest member
"Well don't just waste it on him, hurry and grab whatever he's got on him." They began to argue but then a silver bell chimed. One Subaru didn't expect to hear again. But it was one he desperately hoped to hear again.
"Oh my gosh Subaru! No! GET AWAY FROM HIM!" Emilia yelled out as she saw the boy she was looking for bleeding out.
Seeing the beautiful girl he's come to like be so worried about him made him feel better. He hated seeing her suffering and to find even a tiny bit of joy in that disgusted him. He thought to himself "Hey! Will you look at that she does care, and she remembers me too…"
And with that last thought Subaru died once again.
"Shit, hurry up forget the stupid kid we have to get out of here." All three thugs ran out and Emilia rushed towards Subaru.
5 minutes earlier…
Emilia's eyes opened up once again, she realized she must've gone back to her starting point. Emilia stopped her dash leaving Puck confused.
"Hey Lia? Why did you stop? You're going to let the thief get away." Puck was extremely confused. One minute Emilia is chasing the thief girl then the next minute she just stopped and lost the determination that she previously had.
Emilia decided to ignore him, for the time being. She had to figure out just what was going on. One second she was running around with Subaru having the best day of her life then she fell down in a pool of her own blood. The next she had returned back in time, she chased after Subaru and when she caught up with him, he was bleeding out again. The real problem was how he remembered her. Nobody, not Puck, Kadomon or even the three thugs remembered their first meeting. But Subaru did, he called out the name she gave him when she last saw him, and she hadn't even interacted with him in that second go. She remembered seeing him die twice. There was no other explanation other than she had been given a second chance at life to save him. She's lucky to even have a third chance now. She can't let it go to waste.
"Lia! Hey Lia!" Emilia was shaken out of her thoughts at the sound of her father calling out to her.
"Um Puck? Why are we on a rooftop?" Asked Emilia
"What? Do you not remember we were chasing the thief girl after that stupid kid called you Satella and left you distracted and open for an attack." Puck reminded her
"What kid? And what do you mean I got distracted!?" Asked Emilia
Puck was getting annoyed and also worried. This just happened seconds ago. "Emilia we were walking down the street when out of nowhere some kid called out to you and shouted Satella."
Emilia couldn't believe what she was hearing but she remembered she told Subaru to call her that and so she had to confirm it.
"Uh Puck did he have spiky black hair and had some weird black,white and yellow clothes?"
"Yes Lia you're finally remembering. The nerve of that kid, I was about to ice him right then and there but then your insignia got stolen.
"Oh my goodness, I got Subaru into trouble! I have to find him and apologize. He must've been so confused." Emilia started to beat herself up.
"What are you crazy Emilia? He called you by the witch of envy's name and embarrassed you in front of hundreds of people!" Puck was starting to get angry now
"No no no, It was all my fault, I got him into trouble!"
"How could you have gotten him into trouble? Do you hear yourself Lia?" Puck was seriously worried now.
Emilia ignored him as she realized Puck acted this same way last time. She will have to explain to him what's going on after she catches up to Subaru. She remembered that he called her Satella last time. Emilia shivered at the thought of Subaru going through that but she was happy to hear he was fine now and remembered her. Things were different now. Apparently before she regained her memories, Subaru called out to her but she got mad at him.
"I'm sorry Puck but you have to help me find Subaru once I find him I can explain everything. Please just show me the location where he called me Satella."
Puck was starting to get worried. Emilia claims to know this boy and just casually dismissed him calling her by the name of the Witch of Envy!
"You better explain yourself Lia but he was right over here." Puck signaled for her to follow him and they headed over to where he was last seen.
After a couple of seconds they got to the location "Right there that's where I last saw the kid, right next to that appa stand."
Emilia instantly recognized the familiar man and she rushed over to him. "Hey, I'm sorry to bother you but have you seen a boy with black spiky hair?"
Kadomon remembered Emilia and the incident with the kid. He knew that what the kid said was fucked up but he couldn't help but feel bad for him. "I'm sorry that he called you by that disgusting name but I'm sure he didn't mean it."
Emilia knew he didn't mean to insult her but she wanted to know more and see what Kadomon meant. There might be a chance that Subaru spoke to Kadomon. "What do you mean he didn't mean to call me by that name."
Kadomon sighed and said "When he called out to you, he had just woken up. I met the kid a couple of minutes ago and when I tried talking to him he fainted. I waited for him to wake up and when he did he rushed right over to you."
Emilia stepped back and felt horrible. She not only yelled at Subaru but it was right after he had just woken up after fainting. That did not sound good but she had to know where he was at "I see but do you know where he is? I have to apologize."
Kadomon didn't expect that response, he expected her to want to track him down and beat the poor kid up but she defied his expectations.
"Well then, if you promise not to beat the boy up then I will tell you." Emilia proceeded to nod her head in agreement.
Kadomon now satisfied with her response then spoke "I last saw him storm off into that alleyway."
"Of course he did. He's always going to that alley, are they soulmates or something?" Emilia thought to herself.
"Anyways thank you so much, next time I come back I'll buy 20 appas. Sorry I don't have money right now." Emilia began to run off and headed towards the rooftops.
"That's a promise then! Don't hurt the kid!" Kadomon waived at Emilia and watched as she ran towards the alley.
"Did you hear that Puck? Subaru wasn't at fault, he just wasn't in his right mind." Emilia smiled towards Puck
"If that's what you believe then I guess I'll trust you but still how do you know his name?"
As Emilia ran towards the alley she began to speak. "I'm not quite sure but this is the third time I've experienced this day."
Puck was starting to think Emilia was insane, she's only been in the capital for a day and now she's saying she's actually been here 3 times. "Hold on, hold on third time? How is that possible? It's your first time visiting the capitol."
"I don't know Puck but I think I can return by—" Suddenly the world stopped and Emilia was left paralyzed.
She then heard a voice. She spotted a figure clouded in shadows in the distance and what followed next were shadow hands reaching out towards her. The voice she heard spoke and it was filled with such malice that it shocked her to her core. "I'm being rather lenient with you, don't push your luck!"
Emilia then felt unbearable amounts of pain almost as if her heart had been squeezed.
Time resumed and Emilia was left horrified at her near death experience. Puck on the other hand watched as one moment Emilia was smiling brightly then the next she was crumpled on the floor clutching her heart in pain.
"Lia, Lia are you okay? What happened!?" Puck was angered he wanted to punish whoever dared to cause such pain to his beloved daughter.
Emilia struggled to regain her senses but she looked up and saw her father starting to get angry. She had to think of something but her mind couldn't process what just happened.
"Holy shit, you stabbed him!" Those few words jumpstarted Emilia's brain as she got back up and ignored Puck as she ran towards the voices.
As Emilia approached she could hear her father Puck trying to call out to her but most importantly were the three different voices she recognized. They seemed to be bickering.
Emilia then stopped and what she saw next only doubled the amount of pain she was in. There in front of her eyes was her precious friend once again bleeding out. His bright golden brown orbs were once again losing their color and she was certain that she was losing him. Emilia immediately shouted out ignoring her pain "Oh my gosh Subaru! No! GET AWAY FROM HIM!"
Emilia had lost all sympathy for those idiots but before she could attack, they ran out of the alley. As much as Emilia wanted to chase them she couldn't because something no someone mattered way more. Emilia finally got down to Subaru and immediately prepared her healing magic. She grabbed a hold of him and started desperately forcing the mana out into his wound but it was no use. Tears were openly flowing down her face and she could hear her father calling out but nothing else mattered to her but Subaru. As her consciousness faded once again she thought to herself. "Pathetic, you can't even save one person and now he has died three times. How can you ever save the elves if you had three chances to save one person and failed!?"

AN: Thank you so much for the support. Your support forced me to get right back to work! I had to release one more chapter. If I don't update in a week then it's probably because schoolwork would have kicked my ass. Also just in case it wasn't clear enough while Subaru's checkpoint was the appa stand, Emilia's was right after Felt stole her insignia. That is why events played out the same as in canon until Emilia left to chase Felt. In this story Emilia does not return by death, she only gets to keep her memories of the previous loop. If Emilia dies and Subaru doesn't then she will stay dead until he restarts. Satella does not like Emilia that much and could care less unless Subaru resets. As for why she does not immediately restart the second Subaru dies, it's because I want to give her a 5-10 second window to prepare and see the aftermath of Subaru's death. Think about if she reset as soon as he died she would not have realized he died already in this loop. No progress would have been made. Don't forget to leave any criticism and/or advice for me in the reviews. Also I'm not really feeling the name of this fic, so if anyone has any suggestions for a better name please let me know in the reviews. I'll change it to the best one. Next Chapter: Emilia gets to question Subaru.
