It was a rather glum evening.
It was raining outside, had been from the morning,
The members of the team were currently in the common room. Due to the recent thunderstorm, their generator was busted, and now the common room was alight with only four to five candles lit on the center table.
Cyborg was currently looking for something to eat through the kitchen cupboards, light emitting from his red eye.
Nightwing, formally known as Robin, was sitting at the end of the couch, admiring his girlfriend from a distance.
Starfire was cuddling with Silkie, smiling to herself, well aware of Nightwing's eyes behind her.
Raven, as she couldn't read in the faint light, was currently meditating on the other end of the couch.
As for Beast Boy, he was nowhere to be seen, though faint music was heard from his room, the only noise among the pouring rain outside.
Suddenly, the common room doors swooshed open, thankfully being operated by batteries, and a rather cheerful changeling walked in with a worn guitar in his hands.
He quietly took a seat beside the levitating Raven on the couch, not wanting to disturb her while she was waiting.
Upon sensing her presence, Raven peacefully smiled and gently sat down on the couch.
'What up, Rae?' He smiled at her, holding the instrument with both of his hands.
'What is it, Beast Boy?' She asked, letting her hood fall to her shoulders, her frown dangerously close to being upside down.
Nowadays, Raven had given up on correcting her name to the changeling. She knew, whatever she did, he would always call her with the infamous nickname given to her. And, it's not like she didn't like it...
It was happening from some time now. The side glances. The unintentional brushing of skin as they passed each other. The heat that rose to her cheeks whenever they made eye contact. That was her day to day life. And through her empathic abilities, she knew, it mirrored his. She couldn't pinpoint when it all started, the silent attraction between them.
One day, he was just the annoying green wannabe comedian of the tower, the next, he was her understanding best friend, her shoulder, the one who always comforted her, the one who would always be there for her, no matter what.
Sometimes, Just sometimes the thought crossed her mind that her feelings for Beast Boy may be more than platonic, but she always dismissed the thought, followed by extra long hours of meditating sessions. Because, the idea was ridiculous… right?
'I hav-'
'Are you finally gonna do it man?!' Beast Boy's response was muffled by Cyborg's booming voice and he took a seat on the middle of the couch. With this, even Nightwing's eyes widened. 'You're finally gonna do it?' The leader inquired with a slight smile.
'I could've done it without any attention.' He glared at his friends, 'But yes, gentlemen, I'm gonna finally do it.'
Beast Boy suddenly stood up and put the guitar in position.
'I wrote a song for you, Rae.' He smiled confidently at her. Raven couldn't help but feel the heat rise up to her face. 'I..Wha-I'
'Wait!' He put his hands in front of him, as an indication for her to stop talking, suddenly getting extremely nervous. 'I- I don't want you to say anything right now. Ju- just hear me out first.' He said, his voice shaking.
Raven slightly nodded, fully aware that till now maybe all of her body's blood was frozen on her face.
Beast Boy closed his eyes, took a big breath, and cleared his throat. Starfire took a seat beside Nightwing as she observed her friend.
"Ooh... Ooh... Yeah…"
Beast Boy began strumming on his guitar quite professionally and slightly began humming the tune, in a voice that made all the Titans' jaw drop open. They could not believe that the person melodiously playing the guitar and singing in front of them was actually Beast Boy.
He slowly opened his eyes and started singing in an unbelievably good voice.
Starfire smiled, looking at her talented friend, she started snapping her fingers as he continued.
Now even Nightwing and Cyborg had started clapping their hands or snapping their fingers to the tune.
Raven was smiling at the singing Beast Boy, thinking that maybe it's all a dream.
Beast Boy gave a cheeky smile, sitting on the armrest of the couch beside Raven,
"And like the night sticks to the moon...
Girl... I'm stuck on you
Ooh... Ooh... Yeah..."
The guys whooped and cheered as Starfire clapped her hands gleefully.
Beast Boy was still strumming his guitar as his breath caught at his throat as Raven took a big breath, all the while smiling at him.
"Look at me, perfectionist
Yeah I'm a workaholic
But with my books, I feel at home"
Raven added with a timid smile, her surprisingly sweet voice making everyone's jaws open with awe.
"Flaws are what makes you perfect." Beast Boy added, singing along.
And as he did, Raven blushed, and something in the kitchen, probably a cup, shattered.
"Yeah, it's true,
I got issues"
She shrugged apologetically at her friends, all of them who laughed good-mannerly.
"So... I'm singing all the words I'm scared to say
Yeah..."
Beast Boy got up from his seat and stood in front of a blushing Raven.
Beast Boy gently put his guitar on the center table and plopped down beside Raven, facing her.
"I'm stuck on you..." He breathed the last line, his face inches apart from hers.
'Gar… I-' Raven whispered to him, her hand gently stroking his face. 'Is- is all of this really happening?'
Beast Boy chuckled lightly, as his face leaned into her touch.
'Yeah, Rae… I, I really like you... And I don't know what I would do without you.'
Raven slightly furrowed her brows. 'You really talked to Rita about me?
'Yeah,' Beast Boy chuckled, feeling slightly embarrassed, 'Usually, you're the one I feel comfortable enough to talk about anything…' He confessed bashfully, his cheeks reddening, the fact that Raven's face was inches in front of him was not helping.
Raven closed her eyes and exhaled, absorbing the moment.
She opened her eyes and saw Beast Boy expectantly smiling at her. Realizing her mistake, she blushed deeply.
'I like you too, Gar.' She gave him a rare, and real smile, before leaning in to give him a sweet kiss on the lips, as he melted and gently held her waist.
'Awww!' Starfire smiled as she looked at her friends being all adorable towards each other, 'I love, love.' She sang.
Nightwing looked at his friends from afar.
'It's been a long wait, but I can't believe it has actually happened.' He chuckled. 'Right Cy?' He asked the metal man beside him, whose jaw was literally dropped open.
'RAVEN CAN SING!?' He exclaimed, clutching at his bald head.
Nightwing face palmed himself.
'That's the only thing your head registered during the whole episode?'
