*Chapter 2*
Hi this is awkward but I guess I've been typing fourth years instead of fifth years because it's the fourth book in the series.So all the characters are getting a year jump.Sorry let's get going.
The hufflepuff common room had a vibrant buzz as students lounged in the many sofas,chairs,bean bags,and hanging furniture spalled about the big room.The warm hum of talking and book pages as the warm crackles in the fireplace filling the room with warmth.Professor Sprout was helping the first years water the plants in the to high to reach places against the stain glass windows. Everywhere in the Huffelpuff common room would be comforting and warm if it wasn't for the sound of grumbling and books being slamb down,Tannis was watching Tilly unload her bag of books and paper that weren't needed for the homework she would do during detention
"don't you have anything else to do Miss prefect ?" Tilly huffed buckling her bag not wanting to go to detention for something as dumb as missing the first detention for something as equally dumb to begin with "for once no.I get to watch the ever thrilling event of you packing up for your tournament with Ollies boyfriend." Tannis the ever sarcastic girl said with a sickly sweet smile.you would think that one of your best friends being a prefect you would get some benefits like using that sweet pool of a bath the prefects have but nooo only prefects can use it."when do you think you'll be back ?"
Tilly thought for a moment looking at the time it was 3:30 and dinner had yet to happen but she doubted that snape would let her leave to get dinner so she would probably be there till almost curfew " I don't know." Tilly shrugged on her book bag standing up from the couch trying to smooth down her skirt, grabbing an apple from the bowl and dropping it in her bag."Wow,so informative,thanks!"Tannas stated in a monotone voice,Tilly should really go put the books back in her room but what are friends for"thanks for putting my books back! I gotta go now or ill be late,BYE!" Tilly yelled behind her already shutting the door to the common room catching Tannis giving her the bird.
Tilly walked through the ever bustling hall passing Durmstrang and Beauxbatons students smiling and waving at the random people she noticed.As Tilly went down the hallway closer to the dungeons The sound of talking and all life started to fade like all forms of life knew not to be anywhere near the dungeons.The only sound Tilly could hear where footsteps coming towards her as they got closer Tilly saw who it was,annoyance filled her body as she saw her.Ambrosia Shock a raven claw girl in her year that had made it her soul purpose to belittle her "oh Gubby its you,I thought it was an earthquake shaking the floor!" Ambrosia laughed as her posy of two other fourth years and three second years laughed in unison.Tilly pulled on her shirt "hello Ambrosia."
Ambrosia started calling Tilly "Gubby " in their first year,when Tilly had gotten pulled out of the Black lake by professor sprout not knowing that she wasn't allowed to swim in it because of the very nice giant squid ,mermaids and whatever else lived in the depths.Many of the students picked up on ambrosias nickname for her thinking it was because she swam like a fish and guppy mixed with tilly somehow made Gubby.No that's not how Ambrosia made up that name it was because when Tilly got pulled out of the water she was still in some of her uniform and her shirt stuck to her chubby body.Ambrosia Mixed Chubby and Tillys last name Guhubble to make "Gubby " because she's that smart.
"who let the pig out of its pin,the dining hall is the other way." Said one of Ambrosia's friends, the second year repeating pig, " I just have detention that I'm going to be late for in a few minutes,excuse me." Tilly tried to walk past the girls but Ambrosia and a blond girl to shove her back by the shoulder making her fall on her butt.The girls started laughing as Ambrosia ripped Tilly bag off her shoulder and started to dig through it "hasn't your mom taught you to not look through other people's stuff !" Tilly said trying to get up but the two girls pointed there wands at her watching ambrosia and the second years dig through her bag tossing lose papers and whatever else was in her bag on the floor.Ambrosia held the apple in her hand in front of the girls" I knew Gubby would have something to shove in her two chin face!" Ambrosia said a gleam in her eyes "I'm gonna do you a favor and take this from you,your uniform is looking a little tight in the waist." She took a bite out of the apple "mmmmm so sweet, thanks for the snack Gubby." She snapped her auburn hair and strutted away with her monkeys behind her.
"Skinny bitch needs a few pounds anyways,looks like the cryptkeeper."Tilly mumbled picking up her stuff on the floor and shoving it back into her bag not caring if it would wrinkle catching a glimpse at her watch she saw how close to being late she was "SHIT!' Throwing her back over her shoulder she booked it, running to the stairs to the dungeons only lit by torch really setting the mood for torture.Passing a slug on the wall she finally made it to the big wooden door to the potions class.She knocked on the door waiting to hear something.The door opened on its own with a unsettling creak "professor?" Tilly walked into the class trying to catch her breath, her eyes locking onto Snape sitting at his desk grading papers "Miss.Guhubble,I'm glad to see you remembered your detention and have some form of manners.Take a seat in the front rows." Never looking up from his papers at Tilly.
She tried to slide the chair as quietly as possible but a loud scrap would come from the chair until she just quickly pulled the chair out and sat at desk.Snape huffed grading papers,Tilly reached into her book bag to grab her homework "that will not be needed,keep your book away." Snape said not even looking up from his papers "then what am I gonna do?" "Sit there and wait for the imbeciles to get here so you can start." Snape gave a brief sharp look at Tilly before turning back to marking a paper.Shoving her books away caching a glimpse of her tummy coming over the waist of her skirt,Quickly Tilly rested her head in her hands looking around the silent fire lit room for something to distract her,it was boring so the only thing to do is to watch Snape grade papers.
For a man in his early thirties Snape looked so much older with the permanent scowl on his face" daddy issues can only do so much,how does Ollie find this guy attractive?" Tilly looked the professor up and down in deep thought,Snape had long thick black hair that he could if he wanted to throw Half up but it's so greasy like he never washed it,That couldn't be it.His face if not in the permanent scowl could be considered handsome he had the jaw line and brow for it that when well with his nose but just his lips always scowling all the time ruins it,who hurt this man.Tilly couldn't figure it out she guess another girls trash is another's treasure.
The door slams open making Tilly and Snape jump at their seats "your once again late mr.Weasley's." Snape scowled at the boys shoving his quill back into the ink well and getting out of his seat and walking to the back of the classroom opening the door with the weasley twins behind him already knowing what's going on "come along,Miss Guhubble,and bring your things with you."snape Motion with a hand at Tilly.Quickly making her way through the door snape was holding for her "thanks." Tilly looked around the room. It was full of jars,bottles and lose herbs for potion making.In an odd way it was beautifully comforting the light hitting the glasses making the room different colors"your punishment is to clean these jars to perfection,no magic." Snape pointed to a tower of dirty jars covered in slime and grime "you'll need these,i'll release you when i deem them clean." Handing Tilly and one of the twins a bucket of water and rags he left the room slamming the door behind him.Tilly walked over to the tower of jars almost reaching her chest "do you think he just collects these for this soul purpose alone?" Tilly questions looking behind her at the twins.
" wouldn't surprise me,come on." One chuckled and walked passTilly to a wall covered by hanging herbs and plants,she didn't notice before but hidden behind all of it was a door "where are you going?" Tilly questioned setting down the bucket, telling her hands on her hips "we have jars to clean,I don't know about you two but I want to go back to my dorm at some point tonight." The twins opened the door"me too-"the twin on the left elbowed him and came back to Tilly "don't worry, we have this covered ,see." He pulled out little green capsules from his pocket and dropped one into half of the jars,dumping a bit of water on top of the capsules made them begin to fizz and bubble.
The slime and grime suddenly started to disappear "this will do the work while we do something more important." He put his arm through the arm she had jutted out and started walking towards his brother " we? I don't remember agreeing to anything!" Tilly said looking up at the redhead dragging her and slipping her arm out from his "please! We just need your help!" The twin in front of her begged "with what!"
The twin in the other room came out with a book and gave it to tilly "where making an aging potion so we can enter the tri wizards tournament." Tilly put the book under her arm without looking at it "there's a reason why there's an age limit,you guys could get really hurt or worse!" Tilly said looking the boys down who looked like she had said something mundane "were going to be seventeen in April we barely missed it and we just need this for us to enter,win,and get eternal glory along with the sweet money which of course we'll give you some of." He started shrugging at Tilly who was baffled, it's November .
"All this for some stupid glory and gold! This isn't going to work. Dumbledore drew the line not Snape." Tilly couldn't understand why they would want to do this "then it shouldn't be an issue for you to help us or we could continue gobbling like chickens until Snape hears us." Smiled the twin infront of her who looked at the door where Snape was working behind then at Tilly "please." He put his hands in front of him pleading looking at Tilly with big eyes, Tilly thought about her options on one hand she tells snape and gets more Detention with the twins or on the other hand help make a potion and if all goes well have a little extra pocket money also this twins eyes where really compelling "fine I'm in!" Tilly said, throwing her hands up and letting them slap her legs.
The twins cheered and hooked their arms with hers and took her to the other room,It was almost bare except for the tables with a single caldron in the center of the room."found this room and snape never goes in here so it's perfect for us!" Said the twin on the left looking down at her smiling"!Just need to clean this place up a bit then we can get started, The page is bookmarked Gubby." The Right twin left the two for the caldron.
This has to stop this which twin was which she would ask but she's been in class with them for five years it's been too long to ask again, there has to be something different about the two yes there identical but there has to be one thing different about one of them! There individuals for gods sakes ! this is when Tilly wished she had some of the ability's Audun had he could just smell them and immediately know the difference but she doesn't have that ability,there's one twin on one side of the room and the other on the opposite side and she could see both of them ,where's the difference.
Tilly stared at the boys trying to find something different about the two " ay Fred Gubby's staring at you,i think she likes you!" George yelled smirking at fred.Tilly now knew who was who but only as long as they stayed separated which she highly doubted would happen.George pulled out his wand from his back pocket it was dark with layered designs "accio jar." Nothing happened. "hey fred come here." Fred came over to his brother pulling out his own wand from his back pocket, a light simple looking wand,this is how she was going to do it, their wands were different!
Tilly looked at the book given to her and saw a ripped piece of cardboard from" dr filibuster fireworks" holding the page,the book looked ancient and very used the pages was yellowed and stained with what she hoped to be coffee or tea.She set the book on the table behind her and put a bit of pressure on the table jumping a bit "what are you doing?" Fred asked Tilly as she Deemed the table safe and hopped on top of the table in front of the caldron "nothing,got all the ingredients and read through it once?" Tilly asked looking over the page again "yep ,we got it all!" George gave a big thumbs up "good because if we mess this up one bit it says it'll explode." She replied,looking between the boys knowing she was going to read it aloud even if they said not to "maybe you should read it again,just in case." Fred said looking up at Tilly with an odd look ,she began to read aloud the ingredients with the measurements looking over the book at the boys "We got it all."Fred nodded his head at Tilly "ok let's get started." She started reading the first direction aloud as Fred grabbed his wand and knife, George doing the same.
The twins were doing a great job which was shocking to say the least usually in class there position turns some odd color,explodes,or they get a odd pair of animal ears.The idea that they were probably messing around or just doing it on purpose in class sounded very likely and made her quietly chuckle "I hear a laugh what's so funny?" George smiles looking up from the bubbling caldron while Fred sprinkles some root, his hand slapping on to his skull actually coming across as scared"I don't have rabbit ears again do I." This is what broke Tilly ,she started to Laugh covering her mouth
"no no fred,your ears are perfect," Fred exhaled letting his hand drop a small blush forming"it's just you guys are doing really well at this,like better than I've ever seen in class." The boys look at each other then at Tilly "well yeah, we didn't have you translating the directions and randomly helping us,you're an angel." Fred said taking a turn mixing the potion as a slight blush formed on Tillys face looking at Fred.She felt like she got lost in his green eyes for a moment until george coughed ,blinking back into reality a few times,Tilly looked back down at the book tucking a curl behind her ear" aww your too sweet,if the mixture is a turquoise you can add the final ingredient then it boils for 30 minutes on 49 celcious and you boys have an aging potion." The excitement in the room couldn't be missed.
The boys looked at the potion for a moment in silence. "is there something wrong?" "Uhhh yeah," "what's turquoise ?"Tilly jumped off the table rushing over to the caldron having to jump a little to fully see the contents inside.The potion inside was a rich turquoise shade bubbling "thats turquoise,dump it in." The container was pushed in front of her looking up confused, both boys smiling at her "you do it ,we couldn't have done this without you Tilly!" Said George as Fred nudged the container at her. Tilly took it and slowly dumped it in the caldron in a circular motion the moment it touches the potions making it almost glow.
George put the lid on top of the caldron "well the easy parts done,now for the hard part." "Jars." The three of them groaned in unison walking out the room leaving a crack in the door.Dumping out the dirty water from the jars and starting to scrub what little was left behind in them.Snape poked his head in the room at them for the first time in almost two hours looking almost like he didn't expect them to be there before shutting the door again "I think he forgot about us." Tilly said in a sad fake voice.
Thirty minutes went by quicker than they expected, finally removing the fire spell. George tipped the caldron while Tilly spooned the potion into the two bottles Fred was holding until both were full."now don't drink these or even remove the lid until tomorrow.They need to become room temperature,ok." Tilly corked the two bottles handing them over to the twins "TriWizard tournament here we come!" George yelled, throwing his fist with the bottle in the air doing a little dance out the door,shaking her head with a smirk at the boy.Freds hands ghosted on her for a moment, softly taking the bottle from her "thanks again Tilly,you're absolutely brilliant."His smile almost blinded her "oh you're making this bigger than it is-" Tilly stuttered waving her hands "except the complement. We would have totally botched it if you weren't here." Fred stated "fine,let's finish the rest of the jars ok." Tilly started walking out the room fred watching her.He looked down at his hand, "her hands are so soft." He thought looking at the bottle "were not your maids fred get in here!" George yelled from the other room.
It was 7:00 and Tilly was right snape did not release them for dinner but They were on the last three jars scrubbing the tuffer grime off. The boys were still entertaining with there bickering and stories for most of the night but at some point they got entranced by the scrubbing and a comfortable silence filled the room.The sound of squeaking were the only sound until Tilly took a deep breath "what are you planning on doing with the money?If you win of course." George throws his hands in a dramatic fashion "if we win,I think you mean when we win!" Smirking at the impression of an obvious Mcgonnigal "you still haven't answered the question." The red headed boys looked at one another having a silent conversation with one another until they both nodded their heads together "this is top secret stuff." "Can't be telling everyone this." Tilly raised her eyebrow at that answer
"you're scaring me now." She joked looking at the boys who scooted closer to her without her realizing it almost touching her knees,the boys leaned closer to her and in a hushed whisper like they weren't the only people in the room "we are going to take the money and drop out to start a joke shop in diagon ally." Tilly leaned back on her hands surprised.She expected them to buy more things to prank people with not to invest it to become entrepreneurs of a business, it caught her off guard but the more she thought about it the more right it sounded for them.realizing she didn't respond to them "I love that." Tilly smiled at the boys who looked dumb stuck dropping there jaws "what,what ,why do you look so shocked?" Tilly asked them, They looked at each other " when we told our friends and family about it they freaked out and said it was a bad idea." " That we should finish school."Fred started and George finished setting his perfectly clean jar to the side "well I see no problem with your plans, schools not meant for everyone and if you fully believe you have an opportunity you should grab it immediately." Tilly replied, shrugging her shoulders, wiping off the last bit of grime in the jar and handing it off to George to put with the others.The door to potions class opened and Snape entered the room looking at the group of clean jars his lips puckering "your missing-" fred put his jar in the group giving snape a cheeky smile "this is passable,your excused." The three kids grabbed their stuff and left the potions classroom "have a good night professor!" Tilly exclaimed, shutting the door quietly.
Tilly was slugging through the hall to next morning,After splitting away from the twins she went back to her dorm finding Tannis waiting for her on the couch Tilly left her on but her books were gone.After a brief conversation Tannis went up to her room and Tilly started her homework and fell asleep at 5am on the couch until tannis woke her again with Jensen and Ollie behind her.Now its free period and all Tilly can think about is taking a nap,her bag feels like it weighed a ton.An explosion echoed through the halls behind her coming from the great hall, the tiredness leaving her body immediately "Fred,George!" She bolted back "oh my god I killed them,the potion failed ,they drank it and exploded! ikilledthemikilledthemikilledthemimamurderikilledthem" Tilly rapidly thought getting closer to the great hall coming to a skidding stop as the doors swung open and Madame pomfrey pushed one gurney and pulled the other behind her "coming through!" She yelled passing Tilly.On the gurneys were two identical old men with long white hair and beards "it's Fred and George,I killed them with old age!"
