Chapter 2
Arizona POV
Arizona was running late. Somehow, she had managed to be running late even though she woke up early and was 16 floors above the restaurant she was supposed to meet Teddy at. If Daniel Robbins were here, he would just give her "the look". How is one running 5 minutes late to somewhere 5 minutes from where they slept the night before?
Arizona had done a quick workout, showered, and gotten ready for the day. When she looked at the clock in her room it read 10:28. She needed to meet Teddy at 10:30. She grabbed her purse, checked her pocket for her room key, and made her way into her private elevator.
When Arizona stepped off of the elevator into the grand lobby, she still had to remind herself this wasn't a dream. She was here, getting ready to compete in The Race. Her brother would be here this afternoon followed by her Mom and Dad the next day. Arizona was rushing through the lobby. As she rounded the corner towards the hotel's restaurant, she ran straight into someone who had their face in their phone.
"Umph. I am SO sorry! I was looking at my phone. So so sorry." The owner of the freight train like body said. She then reached her hand down to help Arizona off the ground. Arizona looked up and was met with the most beautiful brown eyes she had ever seen.
Arizona just sat there, on the floor, while the beautiful brown eyed woman just stood above her, hand outstretched. Finally, she shook her head out of the daze she was in and took the outstretched hand.
"Oh um, it's okay. I was not really paying attention to where I was going. I am actually running late myself." Arizona said, eyes never leaving the brown ones in front of her. She didn't even notice she still had not let go of the hand that helped her up.
"No, no. It is my fault. I was looking at an email while rounding the corner. I am officially one of the people I can't stand. I am really sorry." Said the beautiful woman.
Arizona Robbins appreciated women. All sorts of women. Her and her brother wreaked havoc on golf tournament weekends. The blue eyes, blonde hair, fit bodies, and dimples to die for made it unfair when they walked into bars. She had known she was a lesbian from the time she was 16. When her brother would talk about girls, she found herself silently agreeing and wondering why she never thought that way about boys. Eventually she spoke with her brother about it and they realized the reason she didn't look at boys that way, was because she was in fact gay.
"Um, well…I am headed to the bathroom. If I could just have my hand back. I may need it later." The Latina chuckled. That snapped Arizona out of her thoughts. Had she really been holding her hand the whole time? She felt herself blush and quickly dropped the beautiful woman's hand.
"Sorry. I zoned out there for a minute. I have to get going as well. Sorry again! Bye!" Arizona said a little too loudly. She basically ran away from the brown eyed beauty. Straight to the restaurant where she saw Teddy sitting and waiting for her.
Callie's POV
That was weird, right? That woman. She helped her up and then held her hand the entire conversation. 'She probably thinks I am crazy' Callie thought to herself. But…WOW. That had to be one of the most beautiful women she had ever seen. Those ocean Blue eyes and the beautiful curly blonde hair.
Callie finished up in the bathroom and headed back towards the restaurant. As she walked back to her table, she couldn't help but notice the beautiful blonde sitting a few tables away now.
"Mami! Look at the unicorn Uncle Mark brought for me. Isn't it so cute? I love it. Tia Aria said we could go to the pool after brunch. Can we, please?!" Sofia asked with her best puppy dog eyes.
Callie was snapped out of her daze and looked right at her daughter. This girl was going to run a prison gang or take over the whole dang company. Callie was obviously hoping for the latter. She could get whatever she wanted when she busted out those puppy dog eyes.
"Aria are you sure? 3 kids under 9 all swimming?" Her sister was a brave soul. Granted that was the whole reason she was here. She still felt bad pawning Sofia off on Aria already.
"Cal. That is why I am here. I was thinking Sofia could just hang with me and the girls for the day and then we can have a sleep over in the suite Daddy booked us." Aria said as she straightened up the mess the three girls had made.
"Calliope, that would be great. We can pop into the press area and introduce ourselves to a few people. That way they know we are here if they need us. Mark can come too." Stated Callie's father. There was no arguing here.
"Sure, sure. Sofia please make sure you listen to Tia Aria. If I hear that you gave her a hard time, there will be no Disney World for your birthday next month." Callie couldn't even finish her sentence before Sofia's head whipped around to look at her.
"Okay Mami. I will be on my best behavior. Can I FaceTime you before bed?" Sofia asked sweetly.
"Of course, Sof. I will be around the hotel all day. So, I might see you. Just remember Mommy, Abuelo, and Uncle Mark are working. This place is crowded so . ." Callie made sure to stress the last few words. This place was already a zoo and Sofia loved to wander.
"Lets go Torres! Time to make The Calliope look good. You know, my beautiful picture on the wall as manager does that every day. Having the actual Calliope here just makes it even better." Mark teased.
"Mark Sloan, call me Calliope one more time." She gave him the signature Torres glare and he noticeable gulped.
Callie, Carlos, and Mark kissed Sofia and the girl's goodbye and headed out to schmooze.
Arizona's POV
"About time. I almost started without you." Teddy said as Arizona sat down.
"Sorry Teds. Don't ask me how I am late. Also, don't tell my Dad tomorrow. He would lose his mind if he found out I was 10 minutes late to a brunch in the same building I was staying at."
Teddy could tell Arizona was a bit flustered, but she just chalked it up to the fact she was playing in The Race. If she were being honest, she was freaking out a bit. Teddy had to turn on her absolute best negotiation skills to get Arizona a spot in this tournament. She used all her contacts and favors. This was their chance. Teddy and Arizona had been in this together since she signed Arizona right out of college.
"Did you order anything to drink yet? I am so thirsty." Arizona said as her eyes scanned the room.
"Yeah, I got you an OJ and Coffee. It should be here any second." Teddy said as she took a drink of her own coffee.
"Thanks Teds. So, what is on the agenda for the day?".
"Well, first we are going to eat. Then we need to get you over to the press area. Everyone is chomping at the bit to talk to you. Remember what we talked about though. Try your best to keep it about golf. We both know they are going to beat the point about you being a woman all weekend. But lets let your play speak for itself."
"Teddy, we got this. I know this is a story. I will use the Robbin's charm to make sure that they get the story they want. I will also remind them why I am here in the first place. I can't want to just play."
Arizona and Teddy chatted and laughed over brunch and Arizona was finally starting to calm down. She heard some commotion a few tables over and saw 3 little girls packing their stuff up rather loud. She just smiled. She remembered being that age. Restaurants were a luxury and she loved the atmosphere. Not to mention Arizona loved kids.
As Arizona was turning her head back to respond to a question Teddy had asked, she noticed the beautiful woman she had run into in the lobby. She was kissing one of the little girl's goodbye. She walked out with an older gentleman and a middle aged very handsome man. She assumed the middle-aged man was her husband.
"So, what do you think AZ?" asked Teddy.
"What, I didn't hear you." Arizona quickly said.
"Arizona, we talked about this. No hook ups these next few weeks. I saw you chatting up that brunette when I was waiting for you. You need to focus on golf this weekend. This is not just any other competition. People are going to be watching you. We don't need a story about Arizona Robbins hooking up with random fans."
Arizona knew Teddy was right, but two weeks. Yeah. That wasn't going to happen. Arizona Robbins was not one to not take advantage of being in a new town. She would have her ultimate wingman, her brother, and she was going to make the most of this experience.
As they finished brunch, she was getting ready to head out to the press area. She spotted that beautiful brunette again. She was laughing at something the older gentlemen had said. That laugh, those eyes, that body. Arizona couldn't look away. She would make it a point to properly introduce herself next time she saw her.
