A few weeks had passed and the school life of Nico Robin had ultimately progressed. Though the student council elections were long gone, students somehow accepted and acknowledged Robin as the vice president of the school. Perhaps it was the motherly-stern yet caring aura she brought out towards them, not to mention her high grades, or because she spends most of her time with the president, Crocodile, who had famously rebranded the council as "Baroque Works."
Zoro stared at her back, a few seats ahead and a seat across from his. She was a mysterious girl, secretive as well. Somehow no one really knows much about her even if they bombarded her with questions during the first few days she came. She did gain many student's favourability, but somehow she seemed distant.
"She's beautiful, that Robin.. But don't you think she looks kind of.. distracted?" Sanji once asked during one of their classroom breaks.
"Distracted?"
As perverted as the cook was, Zoro had to admit that his perceptiveness was not to take light of, especially if it's an observation of a woman. As quick as she was to arrive at class, she was also the first to leave for lunch or the end of the day, always declining invites from other classmates, she leaves to go meet up with Crocodile.
One day, it seemed her routine had changed.
As Zoro begins to go up to the roof to meet with the members of the club he was part of, the Straw Hats club. In the highschool they were in, there were an awful lot of different clubs, each having bizarre names such as the one he was in. Honestly, the clubs were more like groups of friends that hang out, but what makes it different is the club battles that can randomly take place during school.
There were these so called 'ranks' between the clubs, and each battle a club wins- or Zoro likes to describe it, street brawl, their rank may go up higher. Luffy, the leader of their club, aims to have his club number one.
Of course there were normal clubs as well, such as the kendo club which Zoro just arrived from and was ready to fill his stomach with lunch. Once he arrived, there stood Robin, the girl he had never thought of seeing other than in class. The rare sight of her made him even take a few steps back in exasperation. "W-what are you doing here?!"
She lightly chuckled by his reaction. "Your leader here invited me to have lunch with you."
"Luffy?!"
The young boy who wore his infamous straw hat appeared next to Robin. "Zoro! Meet Robin! She's the new addition to our group!"
"But why all of a sudden?"
Chopper, who was sitting near the fencing of the roof walked towards Robin and put his head underneath her hand so she would pet his fluffy light brown hair. "Didn't you hear, Zoro? Robin saved Luffy from suspension after he stole the school's canteen's food again!"
Luffy hyperly nodded in agreement. "The food was soo good!"
Nami smacked his head with annoyance. "Idiot! Don't be proud of that!" she turned towards Robin and clasped her hands together. "Sorry for troubling you Robin."
"That's fine navigator-san," she smiled in response. "Let's continue eating shall we?" Robin glanced back at Zoro which resulted in him to gulp from her cautious stare. "Is that fine with you swordman-san?"
The nickname he was given made him lift his eyebrow in confusion but he reasoned that she must have seen him training in the kendo club.
"Whatever, just don't do anything weird."
…
"How was school? Didn't see you at lunch today." Crocodile asked once he and Robin entered his bedroom afterschool. It was a coming custom they have been doing for a few years by now, to just meet and keep each other company. Robin supposed they were just very lonely people, both using each other to compromise the lack of trust they had on others. Though their relationship can be a bit rough at times, a few death threats here and there, their mature, silent presence found within each other was enough to help them feel a bit at ease than they usually are. Plus, Robin took advantage of the room, free from the noisy children back in the orphanage. She would have attended school there, but her high grades were able to win her a few scholarships.
She looked up from the textbook she was reading. "Nothing, why?" A teasing smile formed. "Don't tell me you were worried about me?"
He immediately rustled her hair to distract her from the slight blush that formed from her question. She always had her way of words that made him feel embarrassed. "Don't be stupid," he scolded. "A few kids we've been messing up have been rebelling a bit lately." Crocodile's gaze became serious which would have made her shiver if it was the first time he had done it. Sadly enough, she had experienced many different stares that a simple glare from an acquaintance was not enough to affect her. That's what he liked about her. Her experience and wisdom, her ability to adjust to any situation. He'd say that they were compatible partners and that he was somewhat glad he had met her, but he can't be nice too often. "If you mess Baroque Works up, you're dead."
"Of course," she sighed as she fixed her hair he had rudely messed up. "The leader of the Straw Hats club invited me today."
He leaned against his bed frame and took out a cigar, glad he was able to freely smoke as his father was out of town. "Seems a bit sudden."
"He just invited me because I helped him out of suspension. Can't say I didn't feel a bit of pity for him."
Crocodile continued to smoke his cigar in thought. "Good, stay with them a bit. I would like to see their rank fall for once." He hummed by the opportunity.
"You want me to do another infiltration?"
The last time Crocodile ordered her to join a club was with another group that was steadily rising in ranks. Unfortunately they had tragically fallen when she was able to gather information of each member's weaknesses and relay it to Crocodile. 'Somehow' the information would get leaked and soon after that, they'd meet their demise. He'd then manipulate the heart-broken members to join him as a 'million,' a private group he had made who'd dedicate their lives to the student council. If they'd refuse however, as if it was as easy as blinking, he'd be able to give them some sort of traumatic experience to shut them up. Power was all he cared about and he'd do whatever it takes to have the most military might. To be able to see a student's distraught face after their goal has been crushed, was also a pleasant sight to see.
"Why else? You're just so good at it," Crocodile smirked from the thought of another demoted club.
"Alright."
A/N: Hi what do you think of this concept? Honestly, I am pretty proud of it.
