The monster's laughter could be heard as he slowly began to disintegrate from Gundramon's attack. Only one attack from his fellow Chosen was needed to destroy the monster. Yet why did it feel like they had just lost this fight?
"Are you alright, Ryo?" A pigtailed girl, around his age, with glasses asked.
"Yes, Naomi. Thank you." He had been worried he would never see the others again. They had all been together with Taichi moments before Millenniummon showed up and tore the Digital World in two. As far as he knew, they hadn't been sent to the part of Digital World he had been on, nor had Ken mentioned them on his half of the world. That could only mean they had been sent to another dimension all together. Regardless, he was relieved to see that they were okay.
Naomi nodded, her eyes still trained on the chaos quickly developing in front of them. The black orbs seemed to be the cause of their problems. What they were and what evil they could do to them and the Digimon were still foreign to them?
Naomi tsked at the thought. Great, just one more answer they were going to force out of Gennai and his Gods. With a small annoyed huff, she whistled to her partner. Gundramon didn't need to be told what they had to do. He already knew. While Gundramon, Spinomon and some of the other Digimon got to work destroying all of these orbs, Anubismon and Ravemon trying to neutralize whatever spell Millenniummon had on V-mon.
Whatever they were going to do, they better do it fast. There was something off about him.
"Ken!" The two Tamers froze as they heard Kazuya's frantic screams. "Come on, cous, you… you got to wake up. Please…" Ryo and Naomi turned towards their leader and paled at what they saw. Kazuya was holding his younger cousin in his arms, terror written on his face, as BanchoLillymon attempted to stop the blood flow that was seeping out of the side of the boy's head.
Oh, god.
This… wasn't good. Like at all. How were they going to come back from this? Feeling like he was watching Kazuya and BanchoLillymon from a distance, Ryo was numb. He watched silently as the Digimon removed some bandages from the bag she always carried on her person.
"Everything's going to be fine, Kazuya," BanchoLillymon silently reassured her partner as she wrapped the bandaged around the younger's head. "This is only a temporary fix, but it should be sufficient until we get him to a healer." She gave him a warm smile as she placed a hand on his trembling shoulder. "He'll be okay, Kazuya. He won't die. I'll make sure of that."
Kazuya gaze a curt nod, not turning his gaze away from his cousin's unconscious form. His eyes were brimming with tears and despair. Ryo's heart sank, knowing that all of this was his fault. He should have protected him better, shouldn't have left him alone when he saw their partners were in trouble. He was a horrible leader. Osamu will never forgive me for this.
From the corner of his eyes, he vaguely saw one of the others hit V-mon on the head with a stick to knock him out after he had stabilized properly. V-mon, Ken, I'm so sorry… I failed you both.
"We need to reconvene and think up a plan on how to move forward." Naomi decided as Kazuya walked over to them, with an unconscious Ken in his arms. Ken looked so vulnerable, so breakable. This isn't good. There were still other Digimon out there that were loyal to the Evil God. They would no doubt use this against them.
"Why don't we go to Gennai's? His cottage shouldn't be that far away." Ryo barely recognized his own voice as he regarded their leader. Kazuya frowned, not too thrilled by the suggestion.
"Not a good idea." Rei said as she and the others made their way towards them. "As long as he works for them, he isn't exactly trustworthy right now." Not trustworthy? What did she mean by that and who were them? He glanced at the others, hoping to get some type of answer to these questions, but all he saw was a silently unanimous agreement. None of them trusted Gennai. What could have happened to them while he and Ken were fighting Millenniumon and his lackies to cause this much distrust?
"What you mean? He's our friend. He hasn't lied to us before." He may had withheld some information they could have used earlier in the fight, but he never truly lied to them. Naomi and Kazuya glanced at each other before responding.
"There are some things we must discuss with you, Ryo," Naomi started.
"But let's discuss this somewhere less exposed," said Kazuya, his eyes meeting his. It didn't look like the other hated him, nor blamed him for his cousin getting hurt will under his watch. "Ken needs medical attention."
"And you don't look so hot either, Ryo," Akiyoshi said. "You look like your boyfriend dumped you for another man." If he weren't so numb, he would have commented on the jab to his love life. Well, what was left of it anyway. Osamu was an extremely private person and hated anything that he preserved as a weakness to get in his way or a possible threat to those he cared for. Osamu would not hesitate to rip him raw for removing his gaze from his precious little brother long enough for him to get hurt. He would then turn his attention to his brother, inspecting him, making sure he was comfortable and safe, huffing and ranting how he should have never trust Ryo, before possibly dumbing his ass or ending his friendship.
"Let's go to Bancho Headquarters," BanchoLillymon said, gesturing to her left. "I have a friend who can help us."
