AN: Another short one. I promise they get slightly longer the further into the story we get. For now, here you go and see you next week!

CHAPTER ONE

June 2007: Isabelle POV

I pumped my legs on the swings, feeling the wind blow through my long brown hair. I firmly believed that if I could get high enough, I would fly. My mother sat a little ways away on a park bench, watching me. He was watching me too. He wore a rumpled suit and a crooked blue tie underneath a tan trench coat. His dark hair was messy and stuck out at odd angles. And he had the bluest eyes I had ever seen.

Mine were nearly the same shade, but there was just a touch of candy apple green within the blue right around my pupil. Mom said my brown hair and the green came from my daddy. Her hair was dark like the man in the trench coat and her eyes were a deep brown.

"Isabelle! Time to go home!" Mom called.

"Coming!"

I slowed the swing slightly before jumping off, soaring through the air slightly. It wasn't truly flying, but it was the closest I had gotten. I hurried over to my mother, grabbing her hand as we walked over the car. The man in the trench coat watched us go before vanishing. I knew he would be back. He always came back.
