Darwin woke up in his fishbowl, ready for a new day to update his yearbook, but instead of seeing Gumball snug in his bed, he saw him looking out the window, looking deep in thought.

"Gumball?" Darwin asked. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, I guess." Gumball sighed. "But I'm beginning to wonder…"

"Wonder about what?" Darwin asked.

"What are we?" Gumball asked.

"A cat and a fish?" Darwin answered.

"Well, yes we are but... Are we real?" Gumball asked.

"What do you mean?" Darwin asked.

"After what Rob did, I'm beginning to wonder about our universe. We are a cat and a fish, yet we are descendents of monkeys, and so are an ice cream cone, a weird rainbow creature and a paper doll, and I'm barely scratching the surface. Also I'm a cat, but there are cats who are pets, and I'm not like you where I used to be a pet." Gumball explained.

"That is weird now that you mention it. Also… You eat fish and it never seems to bother me, even though I'm a fish." Darwin said. "And even though we're at the same level, the world still treats me like a pet, when you turned human, I turned into a dog, but I was supposed to be a goldfish."

"Also how can a rabbit and a cat have a baby? They're not in the same species groups. I also never acted like a rabbit in any way, and Anais never acted like a cat, yet we are each others' flesh and blood." Gumball said. "But we are still the way we are for a reason, we couldn't let Rob change us."

"That's true but… I think we need a break from thinking about this or we may get confused or depressed…" Darwin said.

"Yeah…" Gumball sighed.
