I had no idea on what to do. Everything that happened in my dream was happening right now. My parents where gone, and it sounds like nobody's out and walking the halls. I gulped and slowly walked towards the door and put my ear against it, and heard nothing. Not even the sound of a housekeeper's cart rolling around. I was completely frightened. I slowly opened the door to find an empty hallway. "Hello?" I said. I reached into my backpack and pulled out one of my pocket knives and slowly walked out of the room.
I looked left to right and tip-toed trying not to be too loud. Once turning around the corner, I froze in complete shock. I swear I heard a wolf cry. "What was that?" I said, positioning myself and preparing to stab. Another howl was heard that echoed. I charged around the corner and tripped. I got up and looked around hearing the howl again. I looked out the window and noticed the leaves on the trees blowing. I let out a sigh of relief and put my knife in my pocket. Still where are my parents? I got to the elevator and made my way down, once getting down to the main floor, I finally had found my dad in the breakfast lounge, where everybody else was.
"Dad, I didn't know you were in here!" I said. "Yes, I came in here to get you breakfast, now come on, let's head back up to our room. We gotta eat and hit the road.
Chapter 3
Once we returned to our room, I was surprised to find mom sitting on the bed. "Mom, where did you go?"
"To the car to get my book" She replied.
"Oh!" I said, "Well we got breakfast!"
Mom sat her book down and pulled out a napkin to place on her lap. I walked over and gave her stuff, then took my stuff and walked over to a table that was next to the window. While eating I looked out the window at our car, it still looked the same. I was hoping there would be another muddy paw print or scratch, but nope.
Once breakfast was done, we packed our bags and left to checkout. Along the way, I was very terrified and worried about what was gonna happen, if I would catch another glimpse of a wolf or would bump into one. Once we got to the registration desk, I asked one of the employees about any wolves that have been reported in the area. The guy shook his head and told me, "Not in ten years, the last reporting of a wolf was in 2011."
I was a bit frightened and worried if the wolf was hiding somewhere. I began to wonder and was like this the whole ride.
After two long days of driving, and no other signs of suspicious activity or evidence that a wolf has been following us since our stop in Pittsburgh. We finally made it to our new state, city, neighborhood, and home. The place was pretty big, it was the best modern mansion I have ever seen. I quickly got out of the car and immediately started helping the movers, and put everything in my new room. I took a small break and decided to meet the new neighbors. All though something wasn't right, I felt like somebody was watching me. I kept looking around me but nothing was there.
I made it to the neighbors house and knocked on there door. A hunter answered, "Can I help you?" he said. I backed up. "Hi, I'm Derek. I'm one your new neighbors." I spoke. the man laughed, "Nice to meet you, allow me to introduce myself, I'm Daniel Mellicamp." he said, as he skook my hand.
"Nice to meet you, Dan!" I said. I tried not to be scared. Sweat fell down my face. I took a deep breath in and said, "Well, I better get back to helping. See you around."
"All right." Dan said, as he closed the door. I calmed myself down and took a breather. "Man, that was scary." I decided to introduce himself to the neighbors across the street. I walked up to there door. Nobody answered. I knocked again, this time I heard footsteps slowly walking. A kid about my age answered. "Hi" the kid said. I reached out my hand, "Hello, my name is Derek. What's yours?"
The kid shook my hand. "I'm Sam. Are you the new neighbor?"
"Yup." I said.
"Cool, wanna go down to the lake and play?" He asked, as he pulled out a football.
"Sure" I casually replied.
Sam and I together made our way to Dan's fence. Sam hopped up on a tree and pulled himself over the fence. "Come on!" He said. I gulped in nervousness. "Are we even allowed to do that?" I asked.
Sam laughed, "Of course."
"Dan doesn't mind, as long as we don't damage his property. We gotta be real careful!"
I nodded and slowly climbed the tree, I slowly scooted my way on a branch and hopped down.
We made our way through all the twigs and sagebrush in his backyard. We had made it to the other side of the fence. Sam brought over a small step ladder and placed it next to me, he proceeded to hop over it, landing on his back. I did the same, luckily landing on my feet.
We both made our way through bushes and cobwebs, and made our way through a few trees and finally made it. The lake was really beautiful. Some people were fishing, and some were water skiing. I continued to walk closer to the water as and saw tiny tadpoles swimming.
"Welcome to Clearwater Lake!" Sam said, "The finest lake here in Minnesota!"
I gazed at the beauty, until something interrupted. The sound of snarls. Sam dropped his football in shock. "Oh, no!" He quietly said, as he backed up.
I was startled too and started to back up myself. The snarling sounds got closer, I looked out of the corner of my eye and saw a huge grey wolf, it's sharp fangs and eyes. It looked like it was gonna attack one of us. Me and Sam made a run for it. The two looked behind and noticed the wolf charging full speed, Sam hopped over the fence, as I slammed against the it, frightened and uttering words. The wolf was foaming at the mouth and was licking it's lips. Just before it charged at me, Dan grabbed my shirt and hoisted me over.
I was terrified, I could hear the wolf still snarling from behind the fence, but luckily Dan managed to throw a rock that almost hit the wolf, but made it run away. "You boys okay?" Dan asked.
Me and Sam both coughed as we where panting, trying to catch our breath. "Yes!"
