He finds himself walking up to her front door at midnight, the events of the past 48 hours playing over and over in his head. Once they had gotten the information they needed from the head doctor's computer, the pair quickly slipped out of the fertility clinic and headed back to their cover house. He was hoping to talk to her about what happened but just as soon as he opened his mouth they got a call from ops to head in, resulting in the team spending the better part of the last day and a half chasing after a psychotic physicians assistant who was selling bad batches of prescriptions to marines.
Once they got back to the mission, his partner had escaped before he could pull her aside. So he begrudgingly pulled out his phone and dialed the number for a conversation that was long overdue.
So now here he is, at her doorstep, hoping that he can finally say what's been on his mind...for the sake of their partnership. His fist softly taps against the door a couple of times before he hears her call out.
"Just a second."
To her credit it is a few seconds but to him it felt like hours before she's unlatching the door and slowly pulls it open.
She's caught a bit off guard at her partner's presence. "Deeks?"
"I love you." The three little words leave his lips before he's able to stop them. When he said it two days ago as they made love, all he wanted to do was say it over and over again to her. To love her and show her every single waking moment how much he meant those three words.
Her eyes stay locked with his as she nervously bites her lip. She wants to say it back, god does she, but there's something weighing on her mind. "What about Olivia?"
"I broke it off as soon as we got done with the case. I mean I had to after Thursday." He steps forward, closing the distance between them a little more. "Kens, I want to be with you."
"What about before? What makes you think it'll work out this time?"
He brings his hand up, cupping her jaw, his thumb moving back and forth across her delicate skin. "Because I know what its like to be without you and I can't live like that anymore. These past few months have been hell, seeing you everyday and not being able to share anything with you...not being able to touch you. I swear if you give me another chance I'll fight for us every single day because I so very much want everything with you."
She can feel the tears begin to form in her eyes as his words hit her like a ton of bricks. Taking a deep breath, the brunette looks down at the object that's cradled in her hand.
He follows her gaze, his brow furrowed curiously. "What's that?"
She feels the tears finally fall from her eyes at his question. Taking a calming breath, she looks up, his beautiful cerulean blues swimming with something she's not sure how to describe. "I'm pregnant."
His heart rate picks up speed as her words hit him. His mind travels 2 days ago when they were in the therapist's "sex room" and then just as quickly it flies to the guy she's been seeing for the past few weeks. There's a moment of hesitation from him before he can asks her. "Who's-"
She can see the sudden swirl of turmoil in his eyes, and quickly has to cut him off. "We're having a baby."
"Are you sure?"
"I took 3 tests."
"I meant are you sure it's-"
"I broke it off with Gabe." She takes a calming breath, leaning into his palm, she relishes in the feel of his skin against hers. "He and I never...I just couldn't find it in myself to let it get that far after I had you."
Her confession slows down his heart rate, not that it would change anything if it were Gabe's baby. But knowing she couldn't be with anyone else like he couldn't, that means everything. She's having a baby, his baby. Leaning forward, his lips find hers as a smile spreads to his lips. "Me either."
They pull back when air becomes scarce. His forehead resting against hers. She knows he loves her, but her anxiety is creeping in once again. He didn't sign up for this and she doesn't want him to feel like she's forcing him into something that he doesn't want. "If this is too much for you-"
He cuts her off by pressing his lips to hers once more. His arms find their way around her waist as he pulls her body against his. "Kens, you just told me that you're having my baby. This is the best day of my life."
"It's kismet."
"What?"
"Me getting pregnant...it's kismet."
"That's what we should name the baby."
She rolls her eyes unable to suppress the laughter that leaves her mouth. "We are not naming our kid kismet."
Our kid. Who knew just two little words would cause his body to turn into jelly.
"What?" She eyes him curiously.
"Do you have any idea how much I love you?"
Her lip curls into a smile as she takes hold of his hand, pulling him into her apartment. "I think I have an idea, but you could probably show me better than you could tell me."
He pushes the door shut with his foot and grabs hold of her thighs before hoisting her up so she can wrap her legs around his waist. His lips find her pulse point as he guides them down the hall and towards her bedroom. "You know me so well."
