The Resistance: Avalon Net Gameplay

I, Mark Briggs known as Meymage, play The Resistance: Avalon online on 5/15/2020 having six players total in the game.

Introduction:

The Resistance: Avalon pits the forces of Good and Evil in a battle to control the future of civilization. Arthur represents the future of Britain, a promise of prosperity and honor, yet among his brave warriors are Mordred's unscrupulous minions. These few evil minions that know each other are hidden except from one of Arthur's servants. Merlin alone knows these agents of evil, he must speak of this only in riddles, because if his true identity is discovered all will be lost.

During the game players set up missions for their team. In this six player game we have two Spies and four Resistance members. The first mission has exactly two players. Missions two and four has exactly three players. Mission three and five has exactly four players. It's a battle of which team completes three missions before the other team.

The fifth mission requires all four Resistance members for it to pass. One Spy in enough for the mission to fail. The Resistance also loses if Merlin is discovered among the Resistance team. The Spies are unaware of any Resistance roles at the start of the game.

Morgana appears as Merlin to Percival. Merlin and Percival are Resistance. The rest are known as regular Resistance members trying to deduce the situations. The spies see their entire team unaware of the other player's role. At this time the game can consist of five to ten players with a variety of roles.

Gameplay:

The game has twenty five total proposals at most. Every fifth proposed team is known as the hammer. The hammer must be approved by majority even if it's a Spy otherwise the Resistance automatically loses the game. All comments are publicly stated. Now we begin the game.

Team Proposal Missions 1.1 - 1.5

1.1: The first pick belongs to Swolz a Resistance member. This player hard picks the hammer of 1.5 already making this player a Merlin candidate. The team is rejected 4 : 2.

1.2: This pick belongs to the assassin, ManuAvalon, my team mate. The assassin off picks the 2.1 and 1.4 players. It's two Resistance members. The team is rejected 4 : 2.

1.3: This pick belongs to myself, Meymage, as Morgana. I notice we don't have the first hammers. I hard pick the assassin to make my team member appear Resistance. The team is rejected 4 : 2.

1.4: This pick belongs to, ruki, a Resistance member. This player off picks the assassin, ManuAvalon, and the 2.1 player, SecretJeb, for the team. It is rejected 4 : 2.

1.5: This Resistance member hard picks the assassin. It worked. I got my spy mate on a mission despite having a bad position. The team passes 6 : 6. It succeeds.

Team Proposal Missions 2.1 - 2.5

2.1: This belongs to SecretJeb a Resistance member. This players picks the first mission adding self to it. It gets rejected 3 : 3.

2.1 - 2.4: Everyone else added themselves to the first mission. It gets rejected the same way. The assassin add me to the first mission.

2.5: A deviation from this player picking self, me, and my teammate. The fail order has the assassin failing first. The assassin does this. I vote for success. The mission is approved 6:6 failing by one player voting for failure.

Team Proposal Missions 3.1 - 3.5

3.1: Lolis a Resistance member picks self, me, assassin, and swolz for mission 3. It passes 4 : 2 failing again. The assassin and I are on it. It fails because one person voted for failure.

At this point ruki demands to be called Resistance by other players. SecretJeb speaks up first with Swolz following. The assassin and I say nothing except I declare my team without Swolz or Ruki.

Team Proposal Missions: 4.1 - 4.5

4.1: SecretJeb picks self, Lolis, and ruki. It gets three approvals from those on the mission. A tie isn't enough. We move on.

4.2: Swolz spies the top picking self, SecretJeb, and Lolis. It has only two approvals since SecretJeb on rejects it.

4.3: The assassin picks self, SecretJeb, and ruki. Only the assassin approves so we move on.

4.4: My turn again. I pick self, assassin, and Lolis. We've all picked logical teams though I'm the only one to approve mine. We move on.

4.5: Ruki repicks 4.1 and it passes 6 : 6 vote. The mission succeeds.

Team Proposal Missions: 5.1 - 5.5

5.1: Lolis simply adds Swolz. The team is approved only by the Resistance. It passes leading us into the assassination phase.

Assassination: The assassin choses one member of the Resistance to die. If that player is Merlin we can still win.

My first impression is Swolz since this player picked clean mission 1.1. I disregard ruki and Lolis because of their bad performance. The 1.5 pick is a Spy while 2.5 picked two Spies. That left Swolz and SecretJeb as Merlin.

The assassin comments about those things too. We discuss that SecretJeb ressed many people without being on a mission. If SecretJeb is Percival then ruki can be spied for 2.5 and appearing as the assassin. We have SecretJeb as regular resistance or Merlin.

Our next though is Swolz though this player wasn't very talkative during the game. This player spies both of us after 3.1 failed. I don't think Merlin should wait that long to say something. Swolz is too silent.

After another minute of discussion I want SecretJeb killed the most. The assassin agrees picking SecretJeb for the kill. We all view-

"Meymage guessed correctly. The spies have won."

Afterward:

Swolz and Lolis are the regular Resistance members. Ruki is Percival. I'm proud to mention I turned this loss into a win. I'm Morgana deciding to pick the assassin for the first mission. It worked on Lolis. Without mission 1.5 decision we easily lose. Morgana is my favorite Spy role. I can decide upon a special strategy when I think the norm won't work. I have failed all missions in every type of game as this role. The main problem is trying to declare other players Resistance when you should do it. When you don't the term is you get 'Morged' for being inconsistent. I love the prospect of having a last ditch effort myself to get another Spy on the mission before we can't win from them.

The game has ended. The picks are logical on both sides. I believed I gained the most trust at first. We finished a standard six player game in about under fifteen minutes. That's a wrap.
