"This is Stanky Dog comin' to you on the hottest day of the summer! Unless you live at the beach, I say take it easy and do nothin' today. Yup, just find yourself a shady tree, and maybe an aquatic mammal of some sort, and blow the whole day off."
Penny let out a moan and turned off the radio. "He HAD to point how hot it was..."
"C'mon, Penny, Ferb, If we let a little heat stop us from having the best day ever, then the morning DJs win." Phineas pointed out as the young girl sat down in between her older brothers.
"Fine, you're right." Penny sighed. "I'll go get the hose, you guys get the sand bucket, because I know what we're gonna do today!"
"Usually I say that." Phineas chuckled as he helped her pull the lid off the sand box.
"Sorry, guess it's my turn." Penny smirked. She turned to Ferb and shot him a thumbs up, and he turned on the faucet and walked over to the sand box and started adding water to the side of the box, causing the sand to get wetter... not the image she had in mind.
Feeling someone's presence, Penny looked up and smiled at the sight of her mom walking towards them. "Hi, Mom!"
" Ooh, boy, it's hot today!" Linda muttered, waving the heat away. She turned to the three younger siblings,. "So what are you up to?"
"We're making our own beach, right here in the backyard." Phineas grinned. "It was Penny's idea."
" Oh, how cute." Linda cooed obliviously. She turned to the car. "Well, I'm off for my spa day. You boys behave yourselves and don't bother your father. He's finally cleaning out the basement."
She walked past Candace, who had just joined them. Candace grinned and waved. "Bye, Mom!"
When Linda drove off, Candace turned to Phineas, Penny, and Ferb. " Bye, Mom! Yes! You heard her. We can't bug dad which makes me in charge... by default."
She glanced at their project and waved them off. "Carry on."
Phineas glanced at the sand box, which was barely making any progress. "We're gonna need more sand." He glanced around, his brows furrowing in confusion. "Hey, where's Perry?"
"Aren't you a little young to be a landscape contractor?" The contractor asked as Phineas signed the contract.
Phineas nodded, handing the man the contract. "Yes, yes I am."
"Hi, Phineas!"
Phineas turned to Isabella with a grin. "Oh, hey, Isabella!"
Isabella smiled flirtingly at him. "Whatcha doing?"
"Building a beach!" Phineas grinned. He walked over to the faucet and turned on the hose. "Check it out!"
She watched as Ferb and Penny worked together with the water and sand. She hummed and turned to Phineas.
"Phineas? Can me and the other Fireside girls be lifeguards? We need to earn our Aquatic-Safety badges."
Phineas grinned. "Sure!"
In the living room, Candace once again was talking to Stacy, at first oblivious on what was going on outside.
" I mean, I've been a friend of Suzy's longer than Katie, so I should've been invited to that party first. I don't care if they're lab partners! We're locker neighbors. And locker neighbors trumps lab partners any day."
The sound of dolphin noises interrupted her, and she gasped and glanced outside, pulling her phone close. "Sorry, Stacy. I gotta go."
She hurried outside as fast as her legs could carry her.
Phineas grinned at his friends as he, Ferb, and Penny stood next to the back gate. "Welcome to our beach!"
Candace ran up, and burst out laughing at the sight of the sand box in front of her. "Hah! You call that a beach? This is WAY below your usual standard. This isn't even worth a call to mom. You know, if you guys ever want to be popular, you're gonna have to stop playing in sandboxes."
She let out a yelp as a beach ball bonked her on the head. Penny instantly ran over to it and collected it in her arms, chuckling sheepishly at her older sister. "Sorry, Candace. I meant to throw it to Baljeet."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever." Candace mumbled. She turned around and her eyes widened. She had been so focused on ranting about their lame sand box that she didn't notice that they pulled down the fence, revealing an actual beach in their back yard.
Phineas grinned at her reaction. "So, Candace, what do you think?"
Candace glared at her younger brother and held up her phone. "That's it! I'm calling Mom." She was about to dial the phone when...
"Hi, Candace!"
Candace turned around to see Stacy and Jenny walking over with beach bags and bathing suits.
"Jenny? Stacy?"
Jenny grinned at her. "You never told us you had a beach in your backyard!"
"You're going to be the most popular girl in the neighborhood." Stacy added with a smirk.
"I will?" Candace considered this for a moment.
Stacy nodded. "I just saw Jeremy and his buddies with their surfboards."
At that name, Candace yelped and dropped the phone. "JEREMY'S HERE?! GOTTA GO!" She zoomed off in a flash.
Penny grinned as she stood next to Phineas and Ferb, and they pulled on beach hats. "Let's get this beach party started!"
"Hit it, boys!" Penny called up to the band. They shot her a nod and started the music.
Well we'll wake up early and wax our surfboards down!
(Hit the beach, yeah we'll hit the beach)
Throw our board shorts on and head for surfin' town
(we'll hit the beach, yeah we'll hit the beach)
"This is actually awesome!" Penny grinned as she rode on a surf board with Phineas and Ferb. Phineas nodded in agreement and glanced ahead in excitement. " Hey, look! I can see our house from up here!"
"Yes, yes we can!" Penny grinned.
Candace grinned at the sight of Jeremy sitting on the sand, waxing his surfboard. She took a deep breath and walked over to him, carrying two coconut drinks. She almost made it when a random coconut fell on her head, and she groaned, falling flat on her back and right on top of a crab, who managed to lift her carry her across the sand, up to some limbo players, chanting, "HOW LOW CAN YOU GO? HOW LOW CAN YOU GO?"
The crab, still holding a dizzy Candace, crawled under the limbo, taking her with it. A dancer grinned at her widely. "Look! So that's how low you can go. We've been asking that question for generations!"
At that, she finally snapped out of it, and Candace glanced around in confusion. "What? What's everyone looking at?"
" For winning the limbo contest, you are now officially crowned Queen Wahini of the beach!"
Candace's eyes widened in excitement as the crowd presented her with a Tiki crown and a long green robe, and Candace turned to Penny, who was holding the end of her robe. Penny shot Candace a thumbs up and a wide smile, and Candace's face suddenly lit up like a million of stars, happily overwhelmed and consumed by the crowd's cheering.
"I CAN'T believe this!"
Ferb soon joined them with a mic and began singing,
" Listen up people and I'll teach ya
'Bout Phineas, Penny, and Ferb and the backyard beach-a,
Every morning, Phineas, he gonna say (Say!)
"Brother sista, whatcha gonna do today?"
Now you see we're having fun, playing under the sun,
And get in line, get in line, 'cause the wet ski's running
A backyard beach, a backyard beach
Nothing's outta reach, we got the backyard beach
You can change in the broken hut,
Drink out of a coconut, Three games for a token, but the rest is free
You got skiing, parasailing,
Surfing and a-flailing,
Your contacts need saline,
Or else, you can't see
Got the backyard beach, a backyard beach
Nothing's out of reach, we got the backyard beach
Got the backyard beach, a backyard beach,
Don't fall into the breach, got the backyard beach! "
Candace squealed in excitement. "I've never been happier in my entire life!"
At the spa day shop, Linda frowned, taking off the pickles from her eyes. " Something is very wrong. Not a single call from Candace."
She lifted her arm from her mud bath and glanced at the phone and frowned deeper, narrowing her eyes. "Not even a text message. Oga, hose me down. I'm going home."
"SURF CONTEST!" Stanky Dog yelled enthusiastically.
"Good luck out there, Phin." Penny smiled at her younger brother.
"Thanks!" Phineas grinned.
"Out of my way, Dinner-bells."
Penny winced. "Oh, no..."
Phineas looked over his shoulder at Bufford. "Hello, Buford. Perhaps you missed the sign."
Buford glanced at the sign and raised his brows. ""No Bullying, No Yodeling"?" He glanced at a man standing beside him, and the man shook his head.
"I don't like this any more than you do."
The Surf Contest began, Stanky Dog doing all of the announcements in a rush, which caused Penny to wonder how he wasn't tired from that ranting.
" First up in the surf contest is Bobby Nelson. Oh! And Nelson eats it on the five-footer! And there's Django Brown shooting the curl, and here comes Buford Van Stomm! Ohh! He pummels Brown with a Philadelphia traffic stomp! And now he's got him in a Half-Nelson, now a Full-Nelson, oh! And now he's actually beating him with Bobby Nelson! Here's the scores from our judges."
The judges ranked this 1, 0, and 1/8.
"And Buford doesn't like it one bit!"
Penny glanced over at the ocean and winced at the sight of Buford grabbing Nelson in a choke hold. Poor kid.
"Next up is Phineas Flynn, and it's great to see a young surfer show such confidence. Uh-oh, what's this?"
Penny grinned as she watched Bufford go through a hologram of Phineas, which was being projected by a real Phineas who was relaxing on his surfboard, sunglasses on and reading a magazine.
"Oh, those kids today and their holographic projections. He's in the pipeline, now he's hangin' ten! He's hanging twenty! He's hangin' thirty-two! Now he's just hangin'! The crowd loves it! I don't think there's a name for that! The crowd is doing the wave, and Phineas is surfing it! Let's go to the judges. 10 to the 5th power, infinity, and oh! It seems Phineas Flynn's radical surfing has made judge #3 re-think Einstein's theory of relativity! Cowabunga, laws of nature!"
As the sun got low, Candace and Jeremy finally managed to get together by dancing. Candace grinned at him. "So, are you having fun?"
Before Jeremy answered, a song began playing, causing mood swings to change into calmness.
" Girl, the moment has arrived
I can see, although there is no light,
The music, beats throughout the night
And our love's in sight... "
Candace glanced at Jeremy sheepishly and was about to take his hand when her phone rang, and she picked it up, answering it in a dreamy voice. "Hello?"
At the other end, Linda worriedly glanced at the phone and pulled it back on her ear, turning her gaze back to the street. "Uh, Candace? Is everything okay?"
"Ohh, everything is just wonderful..." Candace murmured dreamily, drowsed by the love song playing in the background.
Linda winced worriedly. " And...Phineas, Penny, and Ferb? What are they doing?"
"Oh, such wonderful things..." Candace sighed happily as Phineas and Penny surf boarded in the background.
Linda raised her brows. "Candace, honey, I'm coming home."
At that, Candace finally snapped out of it. "WAIT, WHAT?!"
" I'm right around the corner; I'll be there in two minutes."
Candace instantly started panicking. "Wait! No mom, you can't!"
Too late. Linda already turned off the phone. Candace winced and turned to Jeremy, a frantic expression on her face. "Stay right there!" She ran off. "I gotta stop her!" She looked over the gate and gulped. "Oh, no no no no no..."
She hurried over and waved her arms frantically at her mother as Linda walked over, and Candace began doing everything she could to keep her mom from going in. "Mom, Mom, pleeaaasee, Mom! Go away! Don't come in!"
The ground started shaking, and the gang anxiously turned towards the middle of a beach. Penny narrowed her eyes and suddenly gasped at the sight of a... volcano? forming out of the water and sand.
"Is that a volcano?" Isabella asked curiously, standing beside Penny. She shrugged. "I think so, but I don't remember that in the blue prints..."
She yelped and covered her head as the volcano blew up, and... gnomes exploded from the ring and started raining down on everyone.
"GNOMES!" Stanky yelled, and everyone ran in panic.
Linda narrowed her eyes at her eldest daughter. " Candace, tell me the truth. What is going on here?"
Candace sighed. Well, she did want to bust them, right? She began speaking in a rush. "Phineas and Ferb built a beach in the backyard, just like they said they were going to. But instead of just a cute little beach in a sandbox; it turned out to be this absolutely huge beach, with a coastline, and palm trees, and a pier, and hula dancers, and water skiers, and tiki huts, and dolphins, and dancing, and surfing, and everybody from the neighborhood showed up, and then I was just about to share a smoothie with Jeremy when a coconut dropped on my head, and..."
As she spoke, the volcano strangely stopped erupting gnomes and started sucking in the entire beach, sucking it dry.
"...and just for a moment, it seemed that the wily Buford would steal away the coveted surfing trophy from under the noses of our heroes..."
Soon, the land around the people was dry.
" then I can only continue my benign reign and spread love, happiness and ultimate popularity throughout my kingdom!" Candace fell to her knees dramatically. "If you would just let me have my moment!"
The water was now completely sucked up, and Perry popped from the hole and waddled up to Penny, who happily picked him up in her arms.
"Oh, there you are, Perry!" Phineas and Penny said in sync. Perry chattered and nuzzled his chin on Penny's shoulder, closing his eyes.
Phineas turned to the crowd, ushering Ferb and Penny out. " Well everybody, looks like that's all for today!"
The crowd started cheering their names three times. "Phineas, Penny, and Ferb!"
The three kids walked into their own yard, and Phineas used a remote to pull the gate back up in its rightful position.
Candace, still on her knees, dramatically pulled her arm over her eyes, and used her other arm to direct Linda to the back yard. " If you don't believe me, go see for yourself."
Linda raised her eyes at her daughter but headed back anyway.
"That was the best beach day ever. Thanks, guys." Penny smiled at her brothers.
Ferb smiled a small smile at his sister. "Well, it was your idea."
"Agreed." Phineas smiled as well.
"Hey, kids."
"Hi, Mom!" Phineas smiled.
"Hi, Momma!" Penny ran up and happily hugged her mom. "Guess what? We build our own beach in the back yard! It was such a blast!"
She pointed her small hand at the sand box in front of them. Candace's head shot up and she let out a horrified gasp and ran over. "Wait, wait, my kingdom...my Jeremy...it was all so beautiful...!" She began panicking and began ranting at her younger siblings. " WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY PARADISE?!"
Linda frowned gently and wrapped her arms around her shuddering eldest daughter. "Candace, honey, I think it's time to get you out of the sun for a little while."
Penny winced and turned to her brothers. "If you don't mind, I'm gonna try to make things up for Candace."
"No prob, go ahead!" Phineas smiled, politely waving her off. She smiled back and hurried to help Isabella and her mom lead a shuddering Candace into the house, and Phineas turned on the radio and he and Ferb listened to the rest of the news.
" Stanky Dog here with a special shout-out to my two new pals, Phineas and Ferb, for hosting a beach party that was hot, hot, hot. And speaking of hot, slather on the sunscreen listeners, cause tomorrow's weather calls for another scorcher."
"With a slight chance of scattered lawn gnomes." Ferb added.
Phineas laughed.
