"Why?" This mysterious young woman asked.
"Just answer the question!" DJ demanded as Scott then grabbed him and said "Hey calm down DJ, go easy on her, she's obviously been through something".
DJ full of regret said "I'm sorry" he said reaching to put his hand on her shoulder.
The mystery woman looked at him and said "I've lost count. Hundreds. You see, it was me and my dad since this began and he got bit and turned and I had to... had to..." She then burst into tears.
DJ looked at her full of remorse knowing what she had had to do to her father "you had to put him down".
"Yes" she said sobbing "And I've been alone trying to survive since".
DJ had an idea. She could come back to Alexandria with him and Scott. But he knew there would be someone who wouldnt be so welcoming... Michonne. After everything that had happened to Rick and what Jocelyne had done to her whilst she was pregnant with Rick's baby she didn't trust newcomers to the community. But DJ was determined to help this woman.
"What is your name?" Scott asked.
"It's Erica" the woman replied.
DJ thought it was a beautiful name. "This is Scott and I'm DJ".
"DJ?" Erica asked wanting to know his proper name.
"Yes. I don't tell people what the letters stand for" DJ replied.
"Why?" She asked intrigued.
"I'll tell you why hopefully when we get you into Alexandria, that's if you want to come with us" DJ said hopeful she could move into the community.
"I'd love to come back with you" she replied smiling at DJ.
Scott smirked at them both. He could see there was something there between them.
Erica took DJ's hand as they headed back to the horses. She got on the back of DJ and put her arms around him.
They carried on to what they had originally planned which was to pick up supplies.
They then headed back to Alexandria.
