Chapter Two

Scourge Bay

Upon emerging from underwater and docking their vessel, three of the Pirates of the Setting Dawn, Abyss, Opal, and Sonic, walked straight to Zorabel's mansion to finish their job with the Cacophonic Conch being carried by the blue hedgehog in a briefcase. Partly to maintain professionalism, and partly because the atmosphere was too awkward for Sonic to just run straight to the place while cracking jokes, he stayed with the group and was just as quiet as they were.

Passing by the other lowlifes that made Scourge Bay either their home, or resting stop, Sonic and the female pirates soon arrived on foot to the well-maintained estate where the local Pirate Queen and her adopted daughters resided in. Upon being let inside, Sonic noticed Opal tense up with clenched fists while Abyss rolled her eyes at Opal's emotional expression.

'When is this nightmare going to end?' Sonic thought to himself before he heard five female voices crying out.

"Sonic!"

Turning to where his name was shouted from, Sonic saw Nutmeg and Tarragon as well as their fellow adopted sisters, Cinnamon the Bear, Coriander the Camel, and Pepper the Chimpanzee, looking ecstatic to see him, much to his own embarrassment and Opal's ire.

Seeing both of her crewmates' facial reactions, Abyss blew out her breath and turned to the Spice Maidens with a fierce glare. "Try to relax, girls! My crew and I have an errand to complete for your mother, and even if we didn't, Sonic isn't available!"

Glaring back at Abyss with her sisters, Pepper barked. "Get out of the way, you old hag!"

"Say what now?!" Abyss snapped at the Spice Maiden's words. "If I'm an "old hag", then what does that make that mother-?!"

"Whose mother are you referring to, Captain Abyss?" A sharp, if elderly, tone of voice interjected, which prompted all eight startled pirates to turn to see the Pirate Queen of Scourge Bay, Zorabel, being pushed on her wheelchair by her manservant with her oversized pet Mobini lizard laid on her lap. The rather ancient-looking Human woman narrowed her eyes at Abyss as if daring her to finish what she was about to say.

Audibly gulping, Abyss cleared her throat and spoke. "I apologize, Miss Zorabel, I meant no offense." Sporting a glare back at Pepper who returned in kind, she added. "Your daughter just touched a nerve of mine."

Sighing exhaustibly, Zorabel replied. "For what it's worth, Abyss, I get what you mean completely." Narrowing her eyes towards all five Spice Maidens, she told them. "You girls have a lot of arrogance for thinking you can make a bother of the matrimony kind without consulting me first, especially since the lad you're all into already has a girl of his own."

"But, Ma,-"

"Don't "Ma" me, Cinnamon!" Zorabel snapped when one of her daughters attempted to speak up. Turning to Sonic with a seemingly friendly smile, she then said. "Sorry about the girls, boy. They're too precocious for their own good."

Smiling sheepishly, Sonic said. "It's fine, ma'am." Eyeing Opal, who still looked very unhappy, Sonic then gave the briefcase to Zorabel's haunted-faced butler while saying. "Anyway, here's your prize. I'll let you and the Captain talk price if that's okay."

Nodding with acceptance, Zorabel gestured for Abyss and the ever-reluctant Spice Maidens to follow her to give Sonic and Opal breathing space.

"Call me." Coriander quickly whispered to Sonic before being pushed forward by her annoyed sisters.

Once he and Opal were alone, Sonic exhaled and then said to her. "Sorry about the whacky mess, Opal."

Breathing out herself, Opal turned to Sonic and replied. "I know you didn't actually encourage those scamps, Sonic. Still, you think they would've taken the hint long ago, or something."

Embracing her, Sonic said with a knowing smile. "Well, maybe that's something we can work on later."

Humming in pleasure, Opal said. "Yes, that is so true."

The two pirates then locked lips.

Got some anonymous reviews and a WindstarOsprey on DeviantArt that supported a continuation, if not a full story, so I did the best I could with where I left off at. Pretty interesting that Sonic Dash introduced a sprite of Sonic as a Pirate as well, if I might add. I want to add on to this like I do every now and then with my Fairy Tail expansion of a one-shot, The Fiore Branch of Diabolos, for one example, but it will take time to say the least. Of course, I am not against anyone else being inspired by what I wrote either.
