Hi, me again with the second chapter. I've literally been falling asleep the last 3 nights in a row trying to finish writing this (I simply have a very busy schedule and this is the only time of the day that I really get to write anything down) so I apologise now if the latter half of this chapter either has spelling mistakes or words that seem out of place and/or repeated. I simply don't have the energy to re-read the chapter just now (as evidenced by the amount of times I'm having to re-write this now) but I'll go back and fix anything later.

Anyway, please enjoy and let me know what you think.

Disclaimer: I do not own My Hero Academia, any of it's film adaptations or the manga.

Chapter 2

The following week found Izuku making his way towards field Gamma where All Might and Aizawa were awaiting the hero students to get changed and join them. He was nervous. He wanted to see all their quirks in action but at the same time he didn't want them to think of him as the quirkless loser that everyone else had seen him for all those years. Then of course there's him: Kacchan!

He would just have to deal with that problem when it happens (and it was going to happen, that was a guarantee). He walked up to the front doors of field Gamma where All Might and Aizawa stood conversing before the former noticed him;

"Ah young Midoriya. Glad you could make it" said the number one hero. As he said this, Aizawa turned around and met the green haired student with a studious gaze before speaking;

"So...you're Midoriya? I'm Shota Aizawa, class 1-A's homeroom teacher but I'm guessing you already knew that?" he asked Izuku.

"Y-yes sir I am. And yes I'm aware of you sir. It's a pleasure to meet you" he replied, trying his hardest to not fanboy and panic at the same time whilst bowing to the homeroom teacher.

"It's good to see you again young Midoriya. How are you?" asked All Might.

"I'm doing okay All Might sir. Thank you for asking" replied Midoriya.

"You two know each other?" asked a confused Aizawa, though the look on his face suggested irritation rather than confusion.

"Hmm? Oh yeah. I saved young Midoriya from some trouble last year. In fact…" the number one hero started before looking around for anyone eavesdropping, "young Midoriya here is actually aware of my condition but I trust him with that knowledge" he explained as he flashed a smile and thumbs up at Midoriya.

Izuku smiled but not the ear splitting one he would have previously shown at being praised by the number one hero. Afterall, his advice last year still hurt to think about but he didn't harbour hard feelings to his idol...former idol? Izuku wasn't sure these days.

"So...tell me Midoriya, what exactly do you plan on doing today whilst the class is training?" he asked Izuku.

"Uh...um...w-well...I thought I'd just take some time to observe your class first and find out who everyone is and what their quirks are" he replied.

"A good starting point. Very well, I'll assign you a small group of people at a time. Once class is finished come back and see me. I want to get an idea on what each student needs to work on and where you want to start. As much as this could help my students, it is first and foremost your project" Aizawa explained.

"Of course Mr Aizawa sir" replied Midoriya.

Aizawa went back to conversing with All Might briefly whilst Midoriya took a look at the entrance to field Gamma. He'd been provided with a map of the place should he somehow get lost but he wasn't looking to venture far in to the city. He was an observer after all.

Soon the students of class 1-A had all gathered in front of the two teachers as Aizawa explained the lesson for the day. It was a simple search and rescue exercise. Three students would pick random locations within the faux city to hide whilst a group of the students would search for them in turns. The three students were to indicate the various difficulties in locating different types of people.

Aoyama was chosen to represent easy seeing as he was the most flamboyant of the class. Iida was chosen to be medium difficulty, representing a normal sized person. Naturally, Hagakure was chosen to be hardest difficulty for obvious reasons. Just as Aizawa was about done, All Might tapped Midoriya on his shoulder to have him turn around and face the class. He'd had his back to them this whole time and was completely oblivious to it.

"Last thing. You'll notice we have a guest with us today. This is Izuku Midoriya from general studies. He's currently doing a project on quirk analysis. He'll be joining you in this class for the foreseeable future. I expect full cooperation with his project as his work will in turn help your work. Midoriya." Aizawa finished as he motioned for Izuku to introduce himself.

"Um...h-hi, I'm Izuku Midoriya. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance" he offered to the class.

He was met with a number of different reactions. Some of the class - mostly the girls plus one very flamboyant boy - gave him small waves, others simply nodded or smiled in his direction and one or two simply had blank looks on their faces as though they weren't bothered either way. There was only one reaction which he was dreading and out of the corner of his eye, had seen it starting before it had even happened;

"DEKU!" yelled Bakugou, "What the hell are you doing here?!".

"K-Kat-ch-chan…" the meek boy replied, slowly regressing in to himself as the ash blonde stomped his way over to him. The boy didn't get far before a piece of cloth wrapped around his torso and pushed him back to the gathered students;

"That's enough Bakugou. I take it that you know Midoriya then?" Aizawa said sternly. He didn't like the tone that the boy had used and what it was implying. He didn't like it at all.

Bakugou simply replied with a 'Tsk' before calming down enough to listen to his teacher. All Might had checked on Izuku who said he was fine before Aizawa motioned for them all to make their way in to field Gamma.

Izuku had stepped on to the platform with the rest of the students but kept his distance from them initially as the three chosen 'victims' had been sent off to hide in the city. It wasn't until he had begun to write down same basic notes for himself when he realized that someone was standing next to him;

"What ya doing?" asked a pink skinned girl.

Izuku yelped slightly as he was startled by the presence of the girl. Plus, he still really hadn't spoken to girls that much (he'd had a few interactions since starting U.A.);

"H-Hi...I'm err...just writing s-some notes before w-we get started" he managed to reply to her with.

"Wow, that's kinda neat. I'm Mina Ashido. Nice to meet ya" she introduced herself.

"I-Izuku Midoriya" he replied.

"Hey bro, how you doing? Names Eijiro Kirishima" said an energetic taller boy with red hair as he approached from behind Mina.

This continued with people coming up and introducing themselves before Aizawa had garnered their attention to assign groups;

"Ok, our victims are in place so here's the official situation for today's training. There's been an earthquake and various buildings within this industrial district have fallen down. Most still stand, debris is littered everywhere so be careful. The majority of the populace have evacuated but we have three people unaccounted for. Your job is to locate them, assess them for any injuries and return all three safely" Aizawa explained as he got an affirmative from the class.

"Koda! Jiro! Sero! Todoroki! You four will go first. You have twenty minutes to find them and return them, understood?" their teacher asked.

"Yes sir" they all replied.

"Good. Begin" he said.

Whilst the four students had started, Midoriya took the time to speak to a few of the other students that Aizawa had sent over to him in small groups of two or three;

"Hi, my name is Tsuyu Asui but please call me Tsu kero" said Tsuyu as she introduced herself.

"H-Hi I'm Izuku Midoriya" he replied. He was getting slightly better with his speech.

"So what do you think so far Midoriya?" the heroine in training asked.

"Huh...oh, em. I don't know yet. I'm just trying to write down as much information as possible whilst I'm here. Say, would you mind if...uh...if I can a-ask you a q-q-question or two a-about your quirk" he asked. He was doing so well too.

"Sure. My quirk is called Frog. Pretty simple really. I can do almost anything a frog can. I can cling to walls, my tongues shoots out really long, I can jump real high, I can spit out my stomach so that I can clean it but I'm sure that's a bit gross and not really useful and lastly I can secrete a toxic mucus which just stings a bit, kero" she explained without being prompted for more information.

Izuku was astounded that someone was as open about it as Asui was being but he didn't miss the opportunity to write it all down;

"Wow. Thank you so much Asui, that was really helpful" he said as he thanked her.

"I told you to call me Tsu" she replied.

"Oh, right sorry" he replied with a nervous smile.

"Is there anything else you wanna know Midoriya, kero?" she asked.

"Erm...no...not right now but thanks Asu-I mean er...Tsu" he replied.

"Okay. If you don't mind then, I'm gonna head back over and talk with some of the girls. It was nice meeting you Midoriya. Maybe we can hang out sometime. I'd really like to see how you get on with your project" she stated before heading back off towards some of the girls in her class.

Izuku didn't say anything. He couldn't. How could he? Someone was actually interested in talking to him outside school hours...or during school hours...or at all. Best of all, it was a girl who wanted to chat with him. A very pretty girl too.

'Wait, did I just think that she was pretty?' he thought to himself. Before he could ponder it anymore, another student approached him;

"Hello Midoriya," said a hulking form in front of the meek boy. Izuku looked up and was almost petrified at the sight in front of him. There stood a boy who towered over him easily wearing a face mask with his eyes boring in to him, "I'm Mezo Shoji." the taller teen greeted. Izuku had to remember his manners and took a quick breath to help;

"H-Hello Shoji. I'm Izuku Midoriya but I guess you already knew that. It's a pleasure to meet you" Izuku replied.

"The pleasure is mine Midoriya. Would you like to hear about my quirk?" the taller teen asked.

"S-sure. That sounds great" replied Midoriya as he began to write in his notebook.

"My quirk is called Dupli-arms. As you can see I have 6 arms which are all connected by tentacles to each other. I can recreate various body parts at the end of each arm, duplicates if you will, each of which are more efficient than the original body part. I can also create additional branches as it were and from that, additional body parts to increase the effectiveness of my quirks abilities" Shoji explained.

Izuku had been furiously writing this all down as Shoji explained it all;

"Wow, your quirk is so incredible. Do you also possess heightened strength?" he asked. His stuttering was all but gone.

"I do" was the simple reply from the taller teen.

"Thank you Shoji. I might have questions later, if that's alright with you?" Izuku replied.

"Of course. Any time Midoriya" said Shoji as he took his leave.

This continued throughout the period where various students came up to Izuku and explained their quirks to him as he wrote them down. Some people conversed with him for a bit longer whilst others were quick and to the point, though not rude. He had longer conversations with the girls mostly, though he was always a stuttering mess with them.

Throughout the class one thing had become apparent which Izuku was elated about. Nobody had asked him about his quirk...and that was fine with him. The longer people didn't ask the better.

Eventually all the students had taken their turn at rescuing their classmates, including the ones who were originally victims as they swapped out. Aizawa was addressing the class as he pointed out what they had done well and what they needed to improve upon before turning his attention to Izuku;

"Now that we've gone over your performances, Midoriya!" Aizawa called out to the green haired teen.

"Hmm..yes sir?" Izuku replied.

"Have you gotten everything you need from the class today?" Aizawa asked.

"I think I have everything I need today" he replied.

"Hold on!" came the strict words of Iida, "I didn't see Bakugou going over and speaking to you. Don't you need his details as well?" asked the class rep.

"N-Not really, I already know about his q-quirk" asked replied, reverting to his nervousness as he realized all eyes were now on him.

"Really? How?" asked the boy with the two-tone hair that Izuku came to know as Todoroki.

"K-Kachan and I grew up together. I've been studying his quirk ever since it came in back in pre-school" he said.

"Really? That's awesome" exclaimed Kirishima.

"Shut up shitty hair" Bakugou finally relented in holding back his tongue, "And stop calling me that DEKU!" he then roared at Izuku who flinched and looked smaller after Bakugou had finished yelling and shaking his fist.

"Hey c'mon man, there's no need for that" said Sero as he peered over Bakugou's shoulder.

"Midoriya. Would you mind telling us what you know about Bakugou's quirk?" asked Momo as she suddenly entered in to the conversation.

"Katsuki Bakugou. Quirk: Explosion. He sweats a nitroglycerin like substance which he uses to create explosions from the palms of his hands. The explosions in turn cause his body to heat up. The more explosions he creates and the longer he fights for, the more he sweats and in turn, the bigger his explosions get allowing him to output more damage."

"His grenade gauntlets are used to store his sweat so that he can use them to create bigger explosions than he would normally be able to safely do" Izuku finished explaining.

The class were in disbelief. This kid from general studies had just explained away Bakugou's quirk without even speaking to the guy. Although Midoriya had known Bakugou since they were kids, so it wasn't too far-fetched that he would have known about the angry teen's quirk already.

"Alright we're done here for today. Midoriya. I'd like to see a rough copy of what you've gathered from today's exercise at the end of the week if you don't mind?" Aizawa asked.

"S-Sure, no problem Mr Aizawa" replied Midoriya.

"Good. Class dismissed" Aizawa addressed the students.

As Izuku was making his way back to the main building, he was approached by Tsu and Uraraka who had taken it upon themselves to get to know the general studies student more;

"Hey Midoriya" came a bubbly voice. Izuku turned around to see brown hair and big brown eyes looking back at him. He had to control his stuttering and blushing from the girl being so close so that he wouldn't pass out. That would be embarrassing;

"Oh...h-hey Uraraka, c-can I help you?" he asked as he failed to hide the blush that was on his face.

"Not really. Me and Tsu just came over to talk to you some more, if that's ok with you?" she asked.

"O-of course, why wouldn't it be?" he replied.

"Great. So what made you choose analysing quirks for a project? If you don't mind me asking?" she asked.

"W-well...when I was a kid, all I ever wanted to be was a hero and I thought, if I take notes on how heroes use their quirks and how they take on villians, then maybe one day I could be a hero too" he explained.

"That's smart. What made you choose to go in to general studies?" Tsuyu then asked.

"Well...t-that's...uh a bit more complicated. L-let's just say that I was told that I c-couldn't be a h-h-hero and leave it at that, if you don't m-mind" Izuku replied, stutter returning in full force.

Both girls gave each other a look that said 'we'll come back to that later'.

"Sure. So are you finished for today or do you have somewhere else to be?" asked Uraraka.

"Y-yeah, I've got to h-head back and speak Principal Nezu before I head home for the day" he replied.

"Why?!" both girls shrieked slightly.

"Oh it's nothing s-serious. He just wants to go over my analysis and see where I could improve is all" he replied which allowed both girls to calm down from their panic.

"Well that's good. Will we be seeing you again tomorrow afternoon Midoriya?" asked Tsu.

"Yeah. I'll basically be with you guys anytime you have foundational heroics" he replied.

"Great. We'll look forward to seeing you again tomorrow" said Uraraka as the three of them arrived just outside the girls changing room.

"Y-yeah. I look forward to seeing you b-both too" he replied, the stuttering slightly under control as he waved at them before leaving them to go get changed.

In the girls locker room, there was excited and energetic chatter going on regarding the new addition to their afternoons;

"So what do you guys think of Midoriya then? He seems nice" asked Hagakure.

"He does seem nice, kero" replied Tsu.

"He's real shy but that's fine, I'll bring out the party animal in him" grinned Mina.

"He strikes me as the closed off type and keeps to himself" explained Momo.

"Yeah I can see that. Did you notice how he stuttered too? I can't exactly tell but I think it's panic induced" said Jiro.

"What do you mean?" asked Uraraka. Jiro then pointed to her earphone jacks.

"Anytime he started stuttering I could hear his heartbeat pick up. In fact, he was probably most calm before he even knew we were there at the start or the way he rattled off Bakugou's quirk the way he did" she explained.

"Speaking of Bakugou, did you notice how he called Midoriya 'Deku'?" asked Mina.

"Yeah I noticed that. What does Deku mean? If anything?" asked Hagakure.

"It's not a nice word if it's coming out of Bakugou's mouth, that's for sure" said Jiro.

"I think he'd fit in with our class if he had applied for the hero course" said Uraraka.

"Well that's silly. He's clearly got the brains for it so why didn't he apply?" asked a confused Mina.

"I'm not sure but when we asked about why he chose general studies, he told us that someone said he couldn't be a hero and asked us to not ask about it" replied Tsu.

"Either way, I think we should all get to know him a bit better. There's nothing wrong with having more friends" said Uraraka who received encouraging nods of approval or verbal acknowledgement.

In the boys changing room it was a bit more lively as the boys discussed the new arrival;

"So what did you guys think of Midoriya?" asked Kaminari.

"I liked the little guy. He was friendly and easy enough to get along with" said Kirishima.

"Yeah and did you see the way he nailed Bakugou's quirk. That was something else" Sero chimed in.

"Oh yeah. Hey Bakugou, what was Midoriya like before U.A?" Kirishima asked the angry ash-blonde.

"Why the hell you are wasting your time talking about a stupid, useless Deku like him for anyway?" asked Bakugou in annoyance.

"What are you talking about?" asked Kaminari.

"He's been nothing but a thorn in my side for years. I would ignore him, he's just going to slow you down" said Bakugou before he slammed his locker shut and made his way to the door.

"What's his problem?" asked Sero.

"Beats me" replied Kirishima.

Just as they were continuing to get changed, they suddenly heard Iida shouting and turned around to see what the commotion was;

"Cease this dishonorable and reprehensible action at once Mineta" yelled Iida.

"Then you'll have to throw me in solitary confinement cause you can't stop meeeee. I wanna see Yaoyarozu's curves, Ashido's slender waist, Hagakure's floating underwear, Uraraka's super fine body, Asui's unexpectedly soft boobies…"

Izuku thought he could hear the faint sounds of someone screaming in pain but decided that it was probably just his imagination. He continued making his way towards the principals office as he pondered on his first class with 1-A;

'There were a lot of interesting quirks to see today and I got a lot of information. Wow, it's been a while since I've been this interested in analysing quirks...god I missed this so much' he thought.

He arrived at Nezu's office before knocking on the door;

"Come in" he heard Nezu call from the other side.

"Ah Mr Midoriya, please do take a seat. So how goes the analysis? Did you get a lot from 1-A's class today?" asked Nezu.

"Oh yes sir. There's a lot to work with here" Izuku replied.

"Good good. Could you give me an example of someone's quirk that you noted today?" asked the Principal.

"Of course sir" replied Izuku as he pulled the book from his bag and flipped to a page before he started to read aloud;

Name: Denki Kaminari

Hero Name: Chargebolt

Quirk: Electrification

Description: He can generate electricity that covers his entire body. He appears to have the ability to fire it over a distance, however he has no control to manipulate the electricity he generates. If he overuses his quirk, he will effectively 'fry' his brain and become vulnerable over the next hour (so I am told)

Notable Drawbacks: If he overuses his quirk, he will effectively 'short-circuit' and will become vulnerable over the next hour (so I am told).

As stated previously, no control on which direction to fire electricity if firing over a distance.

Possible ideas: Should look to find metal surfaces when in fight. This would give him a way to somewhat control firing his electricity over a distance greater than that of his current support weapon.

Support Gear: Currently uses a pointer/shooter device with a hud piece to show where his currently fired discs are located. Could potentially include another support device, some kinda of hook system perhaps? Like a fishing rod? Something that would give him a direct connection to his target and would be more than the current limit of 10 metres that his pointer/shooter gives him. Grappling hook type weapon?

Should also implement the use of metal batons/escrima to be able to channel electricity at a short range and protect those around him whilst having the ability to make a direct attack on a villian.

Nezu looked at what he had written and was impressed that after just one class, he had come away with something quite delightful.

"I like what I am seeing here Mr Midoriya. Very good. Very good indeed. The offer for me to provide you with additional tutoring is still open should you wish to accept it" stated Nezu.

"Thank you sir, but if it's alright with you, I want to keep on doing this by myself. I think this is something that I need to do for myself more than anything else, but I do appreciate your offer" replied Izuku.

"Very well but the offer is open for you to accept at any time" replied Nezu.

"Thank you sir" said Izuku.

"That will be all for today Mr Midoriya. I think we should reconvene around this time next week. Does that suit you?" he asked his student.

"Yes sir, I'm ok with the same time next week" replied Izuku.

"Splendid. Then I shall see you this time next week. Have a good day Midoriya" said Nezu.

Izuku got up and left the office and made his way out of the school.

"Wow. Nezu thinks what I'm doing is really good. It's so amazing to have someone believe in what you're doing...I wish middle school had been like this' he thought solemnly.

As he was walking towards the train station, he heard someone call from just behind him as he was waiting to cross the road at a junction;

"Hey Midoriya" came the female voice. Izuku turned around to find Tsuyu Asui standing behind him;

"O-oh, hey Asui. What are you doing here?" asked Izuku.

"I told you to call me Tsu" replied Tsu.

"O-oh, of course. I'm sorry" he replied.

"That's ok. I was out getting some groceries before heading home. I need to make dinner for my siblings" said Tsy as he gestured towards the two carrier bags she had in her hand.

"Wow. That looks like a lot. Would you like a hand with those?" Izuku asked like a gentleman. Tsu was taken aback slightly. She wasn't expecting him to offer. She had just wanted to say hello. It never showed on her face though...except for maybe a tiny bit of a blush but Izuku would never have noticed.

"Thanks Midoriya" she replied as she handed Izuku one bag whilst she held the other. They both crossed the road and continued on their way;

"How did it go with the principal?" asked Tsu.

"Hm? Oh, it went well. H-he said that he was impressed with what he had seen from today's class and that he wanted me to meet with him again next week" he explained.

"That sounds great. Good job Midoriya" praised Tsu.

"T-t-thanks As-Tsu" he replied.

"Do you mind if I ask you a question?" she asked.

"S-sure, what's up?" he replied.

"I was wondering what you wrote about me during class today, if you don't mind me asking?" she asked.

"O-oh...w-well it wasn't much other than what you told me today. I can show you if you want?" he asked.

"That's ok. I was hoping you would have had some insight on something that I was doing right or wrong with my quirks abilities" she replied.

"Oh. I see. Well I've only just written them down today and haven't had a chance to look them all over properly yet so I'm sure I'll come up with something" he replied with a smile adorning his face.

'Aww he's cute when he's smiling...wait what?!' she thought before she realized where they were;

"This is my stop. Thanks for carrying my bag Midoriya" she said.

"N-no problem. I enjoyed the walk. S-see you in school tomorrow?" he replied.

"Sure. Maybe see you at lunch?" she asked/stated.

"Maybe" he replied.

"Ok. Bye Midoriya. See ya later" she said as she waved before boarding the train headed for home.

Izuku waved to Tsu once more as she waved from the window of her train before he turned around and made his way towards the other platform where his train was going to be shortly.

He couldn't believe that he not only spoke to someone but it was a girl and that he had managed to hold a conversation with them. Honestly, he liked Tsu. She was straight to the point about practically anything and she was pretty too. That was a thought that had caused him to go red with embarrassment despite not even saying it out aloud.

Still, it was only a thought. One that he would keep to himself mind you as he knew what it was like with bullies in the past teasing him about the girls and which ones he liked or who liked him (which was none according to them) and he didn't feel particularly fond of going through that again.

He was also thinking about the last thing that she had said about seeing him at lunch. Whilst that would be something he would enjoy doing, he felt more comfortable sticking with his normal locale: the roof. Simply put, nobody ever went up there and he felt safer there. He knew that U.A. didn't tolerate bullying the same way as his old school however old habits were hard to break.

Maybe he would take her up on the offer of lunch then...wait, was it an offer or was it just a polite thing to say? Yeah, that was probably it, it was more than likely just the polite thing for her to say. Maybe he would go and sit in the cafeteria tomorrow and see what happens.
