The two teenagers only stood perfectly still, as if they were both waiting for the other to move. Tensions rose as the smell of blood and sweat filled the air.
Then, Kid Rot finally cracked a terrifying grin before speaking.
"Abby Archer...what a pleasant surprise.."
The years clearly hadn't been easy on Kid. His pale blond hair, which was once at his chin, was now sloppily cut in chunks and some pieces dragged down onto his chest, mats and tangles in abundance. His skin (or rather Chester's) had gone from a tan color to a deep gray, and now scratches and scars littered his arms and legs. Dirt caked his rugged clothing, which Abby could assume he stole as his old polyester coat was long gone.
Kid's haunting eyes were dull as they zoned in on the girl before him. Excess rot dripping from his mouth as he tilted his neck and slowly began to approach Abby.
Said grossologist quickly stepped to the side and raised her goopshooter. Years ago, she would've tried to reason with the boy, to bring Chester back, but she knew better now. There was no Chester, not anymore.
"Stay right where you are!" Abby's voice rang out, "If you don't comply, things will get messy!"
The parasite stilled for a moment. As if he were deciding whether to actually listen to Abby or not. But of course, that wasn't his goal.
"How long has it been? A few years or so, right?" Kid shrugged, not taking his eyes off the goopshooter. "You woulda' thought that you could've least managed a "Hi" or "Hello". It's proper manners, yknow?"
Abby swallowed and looked right at Kid Rot's body language. He would do something. He would hurt her. She would just have to wait for him to sneak up behind and rot her face off. But out of the many things Abby could be feeling right now, fear wasn't one of them. As deadly as Kid Rot was, she would not allow herself to fear the enemy.
But instead of dashing towards her, Kid reached into the pocket of his new jacket, as if he were looking around for something. A smile spread on his face as he seemed to have found whatever he was looking for. Abby squinted an eye, prepared for whatever weapon Kid packed. It was almost laughable, he was the great Kid Rot and couldn't even fight without-
"A rose?" Abby tried to hide the question in her voice as Kid held out a beautiful white rose towards her. Was this some kind of joke?
"Yeah, Yeah it's a flower, so what?!" Kid rolled his eyes and waved the flower in Abby's face "I could care less about whatever grows in the ground, but that weak plant weirdo, everything he knows about plants I know too. We share this body after all!"
"Chester-" Abby's mouth slipped as Kid bared his teeth.
"DON'T SAY HIS NAME!" The villain growled and Abby raised her goopshooter in defense. Luckily, Kid didn't seem eager to hurt her. Not yet.
"He's dead and gone! Why do you even care so much about him?" Kid spoke and looked at the rose in his hand, quickly gritting his teeth as to stop himself from rotting the flower. As he finally seemed to calm down, he put back up his almost charming facade and stared back at Abby.
"According to HIM, this thing symbolizes honesty or something like that." Kid Rot seemed utterly bored when it came to talking about flower meanings. "It's my promise to you, that I won't lay a finger on you, Abby. Well, unless you fight back"
"You think I'll actually join you? After everything?" Abby grabbed the rose out of Kid's hand, throwing it into the waters beside her. But then she noticed the malicious look in his eyes.
Bad move.
The redhead had only blinked once before Kid had disappeared right back into the puddle he came from. Abby steadied her hand. He was testing her, to him this was all a game. Narrowing her eyes, she ran along the wall back the way she came, her goggles scanning the area for any lifeforms. Abby suddenly heard her grossmeter ring, and frowned before putting her goopshooter in autofire mode and answering the call.
Labrat's worried face popped up on the device as Abby turned the corner and made her way closer to the exit. Just a bit farther and she would see the sun again. Just a bit farther and she would be out of Kid Rot's grasp.
"Abby! Are you okay?" Labrat's voice inquired as the grossologist headed towards the ladder.
"It's Kid Rot!" She quickly piped up "He's back! He's in the sewers!"
Labrat frowned and pressed a button, "Alright, Ty should be on his way. Can you handle him yourself for two minutes?"
Abby breathed in deeply, "I'll try"
Unknown to her however, the afterformentioned criminal silently stood a few feet away. A smirk on his face as he watched the ginger girl run farther down the corridor.
Out of all the things Ty Archer was prepared for, A call telling him Kid Rot was finally found in the sewers was not one of them.
He knew his sister was investigating a potential hotspot for the villain, but he only expected Kid to put on a show and then leave to go destroy someplace else. In hindsight, what even WOULD Kid being doing in the sewers? There was no wildlife down there for him to rot, nor any fauna or flora. How did the sewers even heat up?
No matter, Ty was on a mission to get to Abby and Kid Rot before he could cause any further harm. He'd been waiting for a chance to secure the guy ever since he rotted part of the mountain near Rottingham. Destroying nature, especially if it was only to show off, was heartless and cruel.
Hopping into the GRS-1, Ty maneuvered the machine through the city of Ringworm and kept his eyes peeled for a sewer grate. When he finally found one, he grabbed his grossmeter and called Abby.
Back down in the sewers, Abby tried to devise a new plan as her heartbeat raced. She didn't dare doubt Kid Rot had heard everything she said to LabRat. He was like a snake, slipping in and out whenever he pleased and striking when the moment was right
A loud ring emitted from her grossmeter and Abby quickly answered it, only to be met by the face and frantic voice of her brother.
"Abby! I've just dropped down in the sewers, and I'm tracking your location and heading your way!"
"Do you have backup?" Abby responded, hoping her brother didn't drag the entire agency into this mess.
"No, it's just me. Hang on!" and with that, the call ended. Abby stopped for a moment and checked her surroundings. Ty was tracking her and he'd be here soon, but if he arrived, Kid Rot wouldn't be as willing to make an appearance. If anything, Kid would be probably prefer to play around with Abby first.
"Hey Kid Rot!" Abby's voice echoed off the sewer walls "I'm out here! Come and get me if you can!"
Abby sucked in a breath and constantly circled the surrounding area. Kid could pop up anywhere, anytime, and she would catch him right in his tracks. And as he read her very thoughts, Abby saw a shadow on the fall a bit farther away.
"Gotcha!" The grossologist grinned and sprinted in the direction of the shadow, which was...running towards her?
Bracing herself, Abby closed her eyes just as she collided with a person. A yelp emitted out of the person's mouth, and the girl opened an eye, which widened as she saw who she bumped into.
"Ty?"
A/N: Hey again! I finally published chapter two! Seems Abby got to meet Kid again, and it went...Ok? Well, on Kid's behalf it did. So with our main protagonist now knowing Kid Rot really is back and out there, she's left wondering just what on earth he was doing in the sewers. And Ty and Lab Rat make an appearance! Yay! I read every single review you guys give me, and appreciate whatever you have to say about my writing. Chapter two should be out in about a week, school is out for me so I'll have more free time. Thank you for reading!
Also, I am not 100% sure if the device was called a grossmeter, as I rewatched the show and couldn't find anything. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
