And now we get into the story proper. Once again hope you all enjoy it and have a good time reading!

Yuji ran as fast as he could. His school wasn't far away from his house that he'd need to take a train or ride the bus, but it was far enough that if he woke up late then he'd be late for classes. Yuji cursed himself as he rounded a corner. He really shouldn't have stayed up late gaming last night, but he couldn't help himself! He'd just gotten the newest iteration of Unparted and he'd gotten sucked in. It was a miracle he'd even gotten his homework done! Well not really, his homework was the first thing he'd taken care of, because if he didn't his mom would have pissed and Yuji definitely didn't want that to happen. His mother, Minako, could be terrifying when she wanted o be, he wasn't even sure how she managed it. She wasn't all that tall, barely breaking the 5'5 mark, but even so, when she gave that glare, despite that fact that Yuji was a full 6'0, he still felt incredibly small whenever she did it.

Yuji shuddered, he didn't want to think about that any more. He rounded yet another corner and there in the distance, steadily getting closer was Hanzo National Academy. A fancy prep school that Yuji wasn't sure how he'd gotten into. He'd thought his transcripts from middle school wouldn't have been good enough to get him in, but he'd been pleasantly surprised. It wasn't that his grades were bad, oh no, his mother made sure that he studied properly almost to an insane degree at times, but he figured that a prep school would want nothing short of straight As to get accepted.

Putting the last bit of his power into his legs, Yuji made through the front gate of the school, a sigh of relief escaping him as he skidded to a halt in the middle of the courtyard.

"And there he is, the man of the hour!" Came a friendly voice,

Walking up to him as a somewhat tall young man wearing a pair of glasses with jet black hair. He chuckled as Yuji huffed "You almost didn't make it this time man."

"Shut up Taro." Yuji scoffed regaining his breathe "There was no way I'd be late."

"Yeah sure, let me guess...new video game? You stayed up all night gaming didn't you?"

Yuji didn't have a response to that, causing Taro to grin at him

"Come on Taro, it's way too early in the morning for teasing." Said another young man who joined them. He was chubby, with hair just as black as Taro's, he let out a yawn, clearly still tired from having woken up so early. "You can tease Yuji later, class will be starting soon."

"Heh, you've got a point Daisuke, come on Yuji, you made it just before the bell, but we'll still get in trouble if we don't get to class asap." Taro said as he and Daisuke began to head towards the building

"Yeah yeah, I'm comin'." Yuji said with a sigh as he began to walk towards the main building as well. However out of the corner of his eye, Yuji saw something or rather someone that caught his attention. Heading into the restricted area of the school was girl in their school uniform, a white blouse with a blue skirt with her hair done up in a ponytail. Well, it wasn't really restricted so much as it was a part of the school dedicated to the 'advanced students'. At least, that's what the rest of the students called them anyway. No one had really seen them before, in fact, Yuji could only see the back of her head, but still he felt curious. He always wondered just what was in that particular area of the school. From far away it didn't look like much was different, but still looks could be deceiving. Maybe he could ask the girl? A quick question or two wouldn't hurt right? Unfortunately, for Yuji he wouldn't find out, for as quickly as he saw the girl, she had disappeared almost as if she were never truly there at all.

-000000-

Morning classes had gone by as usual, but the entire time Yuji wasn't really paying attention, his mind was still on the brief glimpse he'd gotten of that girl the 'raven haired beauty' as he'd dubbed her. He hadn't even seen her face, but he was sure that she was a looker. That aside, he'd told his friends about it, but they'd merely laughed it off.

"I'm serious guys, that girl had to be a perfect 10!" Yuji said as they sat down in the courtyard to eat their lunch.

"Yeah sure, and I bet she's waiting for you in the advanced building. Eagerly awaiting her hero Yuji to save her so that she can reward you with a kiss!" Taro said in a mocking tone "Give it up already man."

Daisuke took a bite out of his food(he'd gotten himself three helpings) and chuckled "Haha yeah, if your raven haired beauty is really real, then why don't you just go grab some proof?"

"Proof?" Yuji said with a raised eyebrow

"Yeah, why don't you sneak in there and snap a picture of her. I'm pretty sure they've got their own special lunch area or something." Taro laughed

"Are you guys crazy? Didn't Kyousuke try that and not even get through the front door before a teacher showed up?" Yuji exclaimed

"So? You scared? I'll even sweeten the deal. Tell you what, you get in there and snap a picture and I'll buy you lunch for a week." Taro sneered

"Come on man..."

"Fine, two weeks, and I'll even throw in my mom's cupcakes~!"

"You should take that deal." Daisuke said quickly "Those cupcakes are to die for!"

Yuji couldn't deny it. Taro's mother ran a bakery and he'd had her food more than a few times, she was a master of the oven, the three boys had agreed to this long ago.

"You know what. You're on." Yuji said getting to his feet and tossing his food on the ground. "I'm gonna find that girl, snap a picture and come back here, all without getting caught!"

"F-for real?!" Daisuke and Taro said in unison

"Damn straight. You guys hang here, I'll catch up with you later, if I'm not back to class, just say I had a stomachache and I'm sleeping it off."

"You got it!" Taro said

"Good luck Yuji and god speed." Daisuke said saluting him, Taro joined him and Yuji saluted back, he was going into the lion's den and he knew it.

Leaving them, Yuji made his way to the path that lead towards the advanced building. It was strange, there was no gate or anything barring entry, not even a teacher on duty to keep anyone from entering, but in this case, Yuji decided to ignore it and soldier on, especially since cupcakes were on the line and more importantly wiping that smug grin off of Taro's face. That was the real prize in all this, seeing his face drop the floor when he returned triumphant. Getting to the front door, Yuji stopped instantly, not because he was afraid...but because he'd noticed a thin piece of wire, almost naked to the human eye. It was just luck, but he'd managed to see it. He'd seen it in video games before, it was a tripwire of some kind, probably not to explode or anything, but to trigger an alarm of some kind.

"No wonder Kyousuke got caught so quickly..." He muttered stepping over it lightly and opening the door. What greeted him wasn't the usual hallways of a school. There were no sleek tile floors or doors leading to classrooms lining the hallway at all, everything here felt...old as if he'd gone back 100 years into the past with how everything was wood. The floors, and doors only helped to further that idea with their design. There weren't even any lights...it was completely dark, stepping through a bit more, Yuji tiptoed his way through the hall. It really felt as if he shouldn't be here, as if there were some invisible force trying to push him back the way he came, but he was in too deep now. He'd have to find that girl and get a picture of her no matter what. Walking further still he felt his foot sink down a tiny bit.

"Oh crap!" He exclaimed bringing his foot back up instantly, he quickly grabbed his mouth, hoping no one had heard him before looking down at the spot he'd stepped on. It was a pressure plate trap, and Yuji was lucky that he'd not stepped on it hard or who knows what would have happened. He'd played enough video games to be able to tell what it was even in a hallway was dark as this. Moving along he carefully stepped forward and walked further down the hall until out of nowhere he heard a small rumble before a log came swinging towards him! Snapping himself out of his shock, he quickly dove to the floor, just narrowly avoiding the log hitting him in the gut. Yuji was getting even more weirded out, but still he continued, dodging several other traps(barely) along the way

W-what the hell? What's with these traps? What is this school trying to hide?! Yuji thought to himself mutated experiments? A private military base? Aliens? Oh man he really hoped it wasn't aliens or he was shit out of luck.

Before he could go any further, he heard voices from behind him. Someone coming? But lunch couldn't be done already could it? Not wanting to chance it, he quickly slid open one of the doors to one of the rooms and hid there. He kept quiet, ducking down behind a sofa that was in the corner. Thankfully, it was big enough to hide his entire body and didn't dare move for fear of someone hearing him. As the voices grew closer, Yuji did his best to listen in.

"Weird that some of the traps went off. The others are fine...Fuma, could you check with your group and make sure no one tripped anything?"

"Sure thing Asuka-senpai! Seimei does have a habit of just stumbling around and activating them. Still not sure how she dodges though."

Yuji heard footsteps as the other girl 'Fuma', getting further and further away. Before he could even think of letting out a sigh of relief the door to the room he was in was opened and he heard footsteps coming through.

"I guess I should let Kiriya-Sensei know about the traps. I hope we don't aren't having a repeat of when Homura's squad broke in before..."

Before?! Someone survived all these death traps before? As much as he wanted to peer out and look at who was speaking he didn't want to chance being seen. As such he tried to make himself seem as small as possible behind the couch while the person slowly walked into the room. He heard a few more footsteps before a door opened and closed. A secret passage?! This place had secret passages too?! Sitting up now that she was gone, Yuji was able to let out a breathe he didn't realize he'd been holding in.

"Ahem."

Yuji's body froze. Creaking his neck slowly he was met with the face of a girl with her hands on both her hips and glaring at him. This led to three things that Yuji had noticed about her: The first was her hair, judging by the white ribbon that tied her hair together, this was the same girl he'd seen before, which was a good thing! The second thing was that her hair was actually dark brown, enough that it could easily be mistaken as black. It was nice that he got to see it up close instead of far away, and he wondered what it'd look like if she let it down. And then there was the third thing that he'd definitely noticed from her standing directly in front of him.

Boing

This girl was definitely...healthy in the right areas, and Yuji did not miss the subtle jiggle that occurred as her body shifted slightly.

"Who are you?" She asked in a threatening tone, well threatening was probably the wrong word. She tried to be threatening, but despite the glare on her face, it was more akin to a cute puppy trying its best to be upset with you. Still, this was a bad situation and Yuji had to find some way out of it.

"Er...hello Miss Mutated Alien Military Lady I uh...I hope you don't mind me being here."

"I do." She replied, her hazel eyes narrowing on him "And what did you just call me?"

"Um...nothing, forget about it? So uh...how are you today?"

Rolling her eyes, the girl took two short swords, wakizashi by the looks of them, and pointed the shorter of the two at him.

"I'm not going to ask again, who are you...who sent you here?"

"Who sent me…? Well uh, Taro I guess? He was the one who bet me to come here."

"Bet? What are you talking about…?" the girl asked, her stance wilting slightly

"Yeah, I saw you heading here early on and my friends totally think you don't exist, but I told em you totally do and that you were super cute! I mean, I didn't see you're face till now but-"

"C-cute?!" the girl replied flushing at the words and looking away from him. It was clear that she wasn't used to hearing such compliments, which Yuji took notice of and decided to make a daring play.

"Y-yeah, so um...if you don't mind..." Yuji said reaching for his phone and bringing it up slowly and opening up the photo app he had.

"H-huh mind what?" The girl said turning back to him

SNAP

As soon as she'd faced him, Yuji tapped the picture button, and took a photo of the girl. The thing about it is that his phone's photo app had an obnoxiously bright flash, even in a well-lit room it could be startling. This was exactly what he hoped as the girl, in letting her guard down momentarily left herself open to be blinded by the flash.

"Kya! My eyes!" She whimpered bringing her hands up to rub the pain away, which was the next mistake she'd made. Leaving herself open, Yuji gripped her arm and tossed her over towards the wall, that he figured had to be the secret passage. He was silently thanking his mom for drilling those self-defense lessons into his head along with the broadsword use, and while it'd been years since he'd actually practiced, in this instance it was more than enough to get him home free as the girl hit the wall, only for it to turn to the side, causing her to fall down wherever it lead. From the sound of it the passage was actually a sort of chute as he heard the girl wail and the sound of sliding.

"Holy crap that worked." Yuji muttered to himself

The moment was short-lived however, as Yuji heard the girl let out a yell before he could hear movement and the sound of swords impacting wood. No doubt she was making her way back towards, him which prompted Yuji to bolt out of the door. He'd gotten what he'd came for and now it was time for him to make his daring escape!

Said daring escape was comparable to an old American movie he'd seen about a treasure hunter who had to escape some old ruins. He didn't care if he triggered anymore traps, at this point he just wanted to get the hell out of there.

"GET BACK HERE!"

Oh dear lord that girl was on him already?! Yuji quickly took a look behind him, and while he couldn't see the girl, he could hear her rapidly approaching footsteps and that meant that she was right on his tail. Putting in as much power as possible into his legs, Yuji ran faster, to busy fleeing for his life to even breathe. He knew that he'd triggered a trap or two, but the fact that he was running for his life overrode any concern for that and he only just barely dodged out of the way of the ones he'd seen coming his way.

"STOP RUNNING!" The girl roared

He looked back and she was even closer than before, having easily dodged the traps that he had triggered and quickly gaining ground on him. And this was with him putting just about everything he had into getting away!

How fast is this crazy military alien mutant woman?! Yuji thought as he continued running, he could see the light from the outside filtering through. That gave him the extra push he needed to continue running and with a burst of relief he burst through the door and was back in the courtyard.

"F-finally..." Yuji said slumping down and panting

"I've got you!"

Once again, his reflexes kicked in at just the right moment, allowing Yuji to just barely dodge getting the scruff of his neck getting caught in her hands.

Yuji didn't wait, and realizing that the girl was still intent on giving chase, he once more began running away. The girl said something, what it was, Yuji didn't bother paying attention as he ran straight for the front gate of the school. He had contemplated heading towards his classes, but that was no good, she probably knew a secret passage or something that'd let her snatch him up without any one even knowing!

No, no he was going home! He'd be safe there right? There was no way she'd know how to find him right? Yuji decided that he'd take the long way home. Looking over his shoulder, he didn't see the girl anymore, but that didn't do anything to calm his nerves. He continued running until he was home,he'd completely forgotten about the bet.

"And that's what happened. I'm sorry Kiriya-Sensei!" Asuka said bowing her head in shame, she couldn't believe she'd let that guy get away, let alone get distracted by his words. She thought she had him dead to rights when she discovered him doing an absolutely terrible job of hiding. Really, he was a terrible shinobi if he couldn't even mask his presence like that. Not like she had much room to talk since he'd seen her entering the building.

"It's fine Asuka." Kiriya said with his usual stoic demeanor "The boy didn't take anything of note and from your description, he's been scared away. That said, I'll inform Fuma's instructor to have his team keep an eye out in case anything else is amiss. Now, as for the person in question, give me details, I'll need to report this."

"Right." Asuka said with a nod "He looked to be about 5'11, give or take. He had red hair and blue eyes. Didn't get a name, but he said that someone named Taro sent him. He was definitely wearing our school uniform."

"I see. I'll handle things from here. You go about your business."

"Right...and sorry again Kiriya-Sensei."

With that, Asuka left the room, leaving Kiriya to think. It wasn't too much to go off of, but the first step would be reporting this to the principal. Leaving the common room area of their base, Kiriya took a secret pathway that led towards the principal's office. She was as old as he, but she was still a pretty good shinobi even after all this time. Walking down the hallway, Kiriya knocked on the principal's door.

"Come in." She said casually

Stepping inside, the Principal perked up upon seeing him "Ah, Kiriya, to what do I owe the pleasure?" she asked in a smooth voice "Nothing is going wrong I take it?"

Kiriya simply shrugged "It may be, I have a request to look up a possible student."

"Oh? What for? I wasn't aware you were recruiting for new ninja." she said with a raised eyebrow

"I wasn't, but about an hour or two ago a student who may attend this school managed to get into the advanced building. All would fail at the front door usually, but this young man was clearly able to avoid several traps and even outrun one our elite students."

"Outran her? Well, I suppose if you ever want someone whose good for a track meet up then this person is good but otherwise..." she trailed off

"Come now, you know as well as I do that that simply means this person has potential. Trap avoidance/spotting is imperative for infiltration and scouting missions at the very least." Kiriya replied

The Principal scoffed, but nodded "Yes yes, I understand, so who am I looking for?"

"Well, I do not know his name, but Asuka was able to share the details. About 5'11 give or take, Red hair, and blue eyes. She said he mentioned the name 'Taro' as the person who sent him into the building."

"Hmmm...a bit vague, but I think I can find them." The principal said as she began tapping away at her computer. Despite how many students there were, especially with the name Taro, the information Kiriya had given her managed to help narrow things down. Besides, the Principal was an expert on information gathering, something she was proud of back in her active shinobi days.

"Hmmm, quite a few Taros in this school, but let me see what I can find about red heads males with blue eyes."

A bit more tapping away at the keyboard and the Principal let out a satisfied hum. "Okay, I think we've got a hit. The hair and eye color didn't do too much, but that height, there aren't too many people hitting 6 feet at this school."

"What'd you find?" Kiriya asked

"Yuji Egawa. That looks to be our man." The Principal said "If you want, I can do a full background check, see if he has any shinobi ties."

Kiriya rubbed his chin. "That's probably for the best, don't want to leave any loose ends and if we find out he's an evil shinobi then well...we know what to do."

"Indeed..." the Principal said in a solemn tone, despite the fact that they were good shinobi, the two of them had done some things in the past that they weren't particularly proud of. Some of which they were sure that even evil shinobi would balk at the idea of.

"Well then, I'll leave it to you. Can I get a rough ETA on when I'll get the information?"

"Only a day or two at most, just to do the proper checks you know?"

"Understood, I'll look forward to what you find out. If you'll excuse me, I have to get back to the girls."

"Right, and try to take some time off. It's been a while since we've talked. I could use the company you know."

Kiriya let out a small chuckle "I'll keep it mind, though if this Yuji proves to be worthy of training, then I doubt I'll have much time off."

"True, but try to make some time any way, eh old friend?"

With a nod, Kiriya left the room in a literal puff of smoke, causing the principal to cough a bit. "What I would give for him to stop making those showy exits." she sighed before tapping away at her computer again to get into contact with the proper people

-00000-

It'd been two days since Yuji's foray into the advanced building. He'd managed to convince his mom that he'd ate something bad at school. She was especially doting in that regard. If he ever felt sick or uncomfortable, she'd drop everything and make sure he was better. That...hurt to put it mildly. Yuji couldn't continue abusing his mother's goodhearted nature like that and so on the third day he decided to go back to school. He wanted to take something with him to assure his safety, the broadsword perhaps, but there was no way that he could pull that off and not get stares. No, he'd have to keep his guard up the entire day. Trust no one except for Taro and Daisuke, and he'd be fine. That girl hadn't tracked him down to his house, so maybe she gave up the chase for good?

"I'm heading to school mom!" Yuji called out after he'd gotten dressed "I'll see you when I get home!"

"Alright honey, and if you feel sick, just call me! I'll come pick you up okay!"

"Yeah, I'll be sure to do that."

With that, Yuji left his home, closing the door with a heavy sigh. He could barely sleep these past two days, so he was actually early for school this time. Walking into the gate, he could already see Taro and Daisuke talking as usual.

"And look who it is!" Taro said with a smile once he'd spotted Yuji, however, his smile faded upon seeing the haggard look of his friend. "Hey Yuji are you okay? We heard you got sick, but you don't really look all that better."

"Don't worry, I'm fine...just uh...didn't get too much sleep last night." Yuji said with a wave of his hand.

"Well take it easy, you're still recovering. Speaking of...what happened with that raven haired beauty? We never got a picture. We texted you a lot you know." Daisuke said as he took a bite out of a bagel he'd been eating.

"Oh right...her. You know her hair is actually brown?"

"You saw her?!" The two said in unison

"Yeah, I got the picture. Here." Yuji said with a yawn as he friends scooted in closer to him to stare at his phone.

"Holy crap she's real!" Taro murmured

"And she's cute too. Looks like he's won those cupcakes." Daisuke said "Now I wish it were me who'd gone in there."

"So..did you talk to her? Get her number or anything?" Taro asked Yuji

"Talk? Yeah...I guess we sorta did that, had to hurry and leave though." Yuji said

"Ah I get it, you weren't supposed to be there and so she let you off with a warning." Daisuke said with a nod of understanding. "Well, you got the picture, that's all that matters."

Yuji could only sigh, he really didn't care about the bet any more. He was more worried about that girl popping up and slicing his head clean off with those swords of hers. The three continued to talk until it came time for class, with Yuji spending the entire time looking over his shoulder just to make sure the girl from before wouldn't suddenly be there.

-0000000-

It was the afternoon, and Kiriya had just gotten word back from the Principal that she'd gotten as much information as she could on Yuji Egawa. That was good to know, and so he left the girls to do some drills while he went to speak with her. When asked by them if it was anything important such as a mission, Kiriya merely shrugged it off saying that it could be important, but he wouldn't know until he spoke to the Principal. And so, he was now making his way to her office. As much as he'd like to simply teleport there, Kiriya always felt it was only proper to knock on her door instead. Upon doing so, he received the word to enter.

"Hello Kiriya, good to see you." She said taking a sip of coffee

"Afternoon Ms. Principal, I take it you have the information I asked for?" Kiriya asked

"Come now Kiriya, would it really hurt to chat?"

"I don't want to distract you from your work is all. You're quite busy I'm sure."

The Principal rolled her eyes and put a folder on her desk. "Here's the information I gathered, It's got everything you should need to plan your next move."

"I see." Kiriya said taking a seat and looking at the documents in the folder. "Yuji Egawa...looking at everything listed here, there's nothing too notable about him. Non-shinobi middle school, decent grades, hangs around with Taro Yamada and Daisuke Nakatani most often. A frequent visitor of the bakery that 's mother runs and missed the last two days of school." Kiriya said reading it off

"Indeed from what I could gather, he's a bit spooked after his run in with Asuka. However, that's not important, what is important is that I struck gold when looking up his family." The Principal said

Kiriya turned the page and saw the picture of a woman who looked to be in her thirties with long light blue hair and green eyes. "Minako Egawa...I take it she's a shinobi?"

"Indeed she is." The Principal stated "She took the Egawa name on for the sake of her son and the usual legal matters and she has no husband currently. She's one of ours, so at the very least, no worries of evil shinobi handiwork at play."

That was a weight off Kiriya's shoulders, the last thing he wanted was another confrontation with evil shinobi and even worse if he had to send his students to capture the kid and interrogate him, if not kill him outright.

"She retired just last year and has a great track record as a shinobi. There is however one snag I ran into." The Principal said

"And that was?" Kiriya asked with a raised eyebrow

"There is one mission she went on about 16 years ago that no matter what I did I couldn't get much info on. All I know is that it involved yoma in some way."

"Yoma?!" Kiriya exclaimed in shock "This Minako is someone worth talking to then if she was able to survive against Yoma."

"I thought the same. I'm not sure what it is that went down, but it must have been important for it be restricted as it is. Now then, what will you do?"

"I think I'll pay her a visit, put the offer on the table. No doubt this Yuji has some amount of talent, I'll take Asuka along as well, just to make sure she IDs him as the same person."

"Very well, good luck to you, and remember to stop by some time!"

"I'll keep it in mind." Kiriya said disappearing in a puff of smoke, which once again left the Principal hacking and coughing.

"Seriously, I've got to tell him to stop doing that." she grumbled

-00000-

It was the end of the day and Yuji was finally calm. He'd survived a day at school. No weird mutated alien women came to try and silence him and all he had to do was keep this up for the rest of his time at Hanzo Academy. A daunting task, but Yuji was sure that he could handle it! All he had to do was live in a constant state of paranoia and always look over his shoulder. It was totally easy! He could pull that off with no problem and no damage to his mental state at all! Walking towards his home, Yuji let out a sigh. He was still pretty tired and barely payed any attention in class today. All his energy went towards making sure he didn't get abducted, or if he saw something strange that would tip him off to her. He'd not seen anything off though and was thankful for that. Opening the front door to his house, he let out a sigh he didn't know he was holding in.

"Mom! I'm home!" Yuji called out

"Is that him Asuka?" a male voice said

"Yes, that's him Kiriya-Sensei." Asuka replied

The voice caused his eyes to shoot open. There sitting at the table along with his mother was a man in a black suit with gray hair, a young girl with dark brown hair and his mother looking somewhat annoyed.

"T-the alien mutant girl!" Yuji exclaimed

"Stop calling me that!" Asuka growled

"Please Mr. Egawa, have a seat. We have much to talk about" The man said "Asuka and I were just talking to your mother."

"Mom…?" Yuji asked looking at her

"Sit down Yuji...this is...just...dammit, I've got a lot of explaining to do and I was hoping to avoid something like this."

His fear now replaced with curiosity, Yuji did as he was told and sat at the table next to his mother and across from the man with gray hair.

"First allow me to introduce myself. My name is Kiriya, and the girl you've already met is Asuka."

"Er...hello. Sorry about before." Yuji said with a weak smile "So um, I take it you and Asuka aren't here to kidnap me and my mom and conduct wildly unethical experiments on us and thus make us your slaves?"

"That's...quite the active imagination you have there. But no, we aren't here to do anything like that, instead we came to you with an offer."

"An offer…?" Yuji echoed

"Indeed. While it is true that you trespassed in a restricted area of the school, the fact that you were able to avoid the traps as well as escape Asuka leads credence to you showing aptitude to join the advanced students."

"I don't get it, what does any of that have to do with academics? In fact, why the heck do you have traps set up? Someone could get hurt you know!"

"That's the point kind of." Asuka said with a sigh

"Yes it is. And to answer your question Mr. Egawa, is that your feats a couple days ago had us look into your past a bit and thus I present to you a question: Would you be willing to become a ninja?"

Silence...absolute silence permeated the room.

"A ninja?!" Yuji exclaimed

"Yes, I've decided that with a bit of cultivation you could be a pretty good shinobi, it helps that your mother is a former ninja as well since that saves us a lot of explaining for a case like yours."

"Like mine? Wait, my mom is a ninja?!"

"Former ninja." Minako spoke up "I'm sorry honey...there's a lot to talk about. Frankly, I'm surprised you never caught on, I only just barely fooled you with the excuse when I left my sword out."

"B-but you said that was for some movie shoot! You even showed me the movie in question!"

"That was only half-true. It was a movie shoot, but I was there as security for a VIP and when an evil shinobi attacked I fought them. One of the cameramen got caught in the shinobi barrier and decided to film the entire thing and then make it a part of the movie. I actually got a hefty bonus for that." Minako said with a smirk.

Yuji remained silent, this was a lot to take in. His mom was a ninja, Asuka was a ninja, Kiriya was a ninja. His school was a secret ninja base!

"You don't have to do this Yuji." Minako spoke up "I didn't want to get you involved in the ninja world, or rather, I wanted you to have the choice to get involved or not. Kiriya-Sensei has assured me that even if you decline, nothing bad will happen."

"She's right." Kiriya said with a nod "This is a possible recruitment, not coercion. That's the last thing anyone here wants."

"So if I join then I'd be working with Asuka?" Yuji asked

"Well you were only able to outrun Asuka..." He began

"Did she not tell you about the part where I threw her into the secret door?"

Immediately Asuka looked away with a blush on her face as Kiriya turned to look at her

"No she didn't. Well, it's good to see you've got some physical strength as well. Still, Asuka is part of the Hanzo elite. So training with her and the others would be pretty rough."

"There's others?" Yuji asked with a raised eyebrow

"I'll do it!" Yuji said with a raised fist "Just give me a trail run, see if I'm good enough to be with the elites yeah?"

"That's...very well. I expect you at school tomorrow bright and early. Head to the advanced building, however do not be seen by anyone. I cannot stress that enough! Think of it as a form of training masking your presence to the regular populace."

"Got it." Yuji said with a determined look

Minako could only look at her son and shake her head. Part of her was concerned for him, but the other was amazed at the fact that he'd clearly jumped at being a ninja...purely because he thought Asuka was pretty. She'd have to pull him aside once Kiriya and Asuka were gone to really hammer into him what being a Shinobi was all about.

So yeah, for those more versed in the world of Senran Kagura, you may have noticed a few things different here. And you'd be right, things aren't following the games strictly, because quite frankly? The games get really weird to try and follow at times because you've got the problem of different routes, timelines, and even the Girl's Hearts stories to take into (or not) account. It can get to be a real hassle sometimes, so for the most part this story will follow the Shinovi Versus timeline. Somewhat. Take note of that as it'll make sense in coming chapters. Anyway, I hope that you enjoyed reading!
