This is chapter two of my PercentVerse series
As I walk outside if my house I take in the neighborhood with new eyes; I'll have to think things differently with my new form. Not a person in sight, however this isn't much surprise, I'm the only kid on my street, and most everyone else are seniors. Wonder how well they're taking all this in. Initially my mind draws a blank as to who to check on, as I don't really talk to anyone outside of family, but then I think of someone. Damn it, why am I only able to think to check on her?
I walk to the street over, my feet getting heavier and my heart sinking more with every step. Maybe I could just go back home and pretend like no one answered their doors? No, my parents would see through that lie.
I'm at her doorstep, how will I even announce myself? She doesn't have a doorbell, and it's not like I can knock anymore what with having paws instead of hands now. I notice a rubber mallet sitting on their driveway; her siblings were always bad about leaving stuff like that outside, guess I'm lucky they left that out (or am I?).
Awkwardly, I grab the mallet with my mouth, almost gagging at the taste of the wood. Just as I'm about to try to swing and hit the door, I hear footsteps coming towards me. In a panic, I drop the mallet and hide in the bushes that were next to me. I close my eyes hoping whoever it was doesn't see me.
"Hello? Is someone out here? I could've sworn I heard someone..."
It's not her. Thank God. I nervously creep out of the bushes, fearful was to what he'll think. He greets me, clearly he has some idea as to what's happened, as he questions if it was in fact me.
"Will? Is that you?"
"Yes Dylon, it's me."
There's a look of waiting on his face, then I remember he can't understand what I'm saying because he didn't transform, so I nod my head.
"Well you might as well come inside, we were actually kind of expecting you given the circumstances."
So someone in his house transformed too? Luckily he's a pokemon fanatic, he probably identified which pokemon whoever turned into immediatly and was able to sort the mess out with everyone else.
As I walk in I start to relax a little, if they were expecting me they probably sorted out any drama that may have ensued because of our history. Her mom may have been a bit of a harsh person but she was a good person too, not wanting any drama she didn't think was necessary, and boy was this not a time to dredge up the past with me and one of her daughters.
Dylon guides me to their living room, where everyone waiting and staring at me. Dylon explains to his parents that I transformed too, but neither of his parents were transformed. I look to the other side of the room, where I see a Murkrow and a Sylveon. The Murkrow looks at me blankly despite knowing who I am. Must be Raven, she always acted that way to everyone but her sister. I stifle a chuckle at the irony of the Pokemon she turned into, given her name... But that means the Sylveon is Jada, my ex. She looks at me with a look I can't quite make out, maybe seeing me again, even in this new body, is bringing back memories of us she tried to suppress after she dumped me? Either way, why the hell does she still have to be beautiful even after transforming? This whole situation is probably hurting me more than her. Dylon breaks the awkward silence
"Ok Will, I know we can't understand you, Raven, or Jada, but you guys can understand us. Did you come up with a solution at your house? Knowing you, you did."
I smile for the vote of confidence, and I'm sure he understands a smile even with the new body. I turn to Raven and Jada and ask for their help with this.
"Ok so Dylon is actually right on the money about me coming up with a way to communicate, do either of you know where a drawing pad or tablet with a drawing app is?"
Raven responds first, "Yeah, I got a drawing pad in my room." She leaves to go get it, and when she returns Dylon and his parents let out a cry of exasperation.
Dylon sits down so he can talk to us better. "Haha, thats such a simple answer, why didn't any of us think of that? Anyways, when exactly did this happen to you guys?"
Raven and Jada both tell me they were asleep, so I guess I'm the only one that actually knows. I grab the pad and do my best to write it out. "I woke up last night at about 2:30 AM, and this happened at about 3:00 AM."
Dylon reads it over, "Okay, so now we know the when, do you know the why? And also why did you wake up at 2:30 AM? That's really unusual of you."
I had a feeling he would ask why I was up at that time. "I don't know the why, and I would prefer not to say why I was up."
Jada caught a glance of that last message before I gave it to Dylon, she didn't say anything but her face says she knows why I woke up. She's most likely thinking the right thing, so I avert her eyes, else I might go back into that dark emotional place where all I felt was pain and sadness.
Dylon looks at me suspiciously, clearly he doesn't understand why I don't want to say I was up. "Okaaaayyyy, what do you remember when it was happening? Your transformation?"
This I have no problem saying. "I was just sitting there eating when I was suddenly hit with the most intense migraine I've ever felt, then it was absolute torture. Jada and Raven are lucky to have slept through it, like my dad."
Dylon takes in this information, obviously trying to see if there is something in his deep pokemon knowledge that could help us. "Well I'm glad you managed to get through it, and your dad was transformed too? What pokemon?"
I don't bother writing it out, instead I go to his pokemon card deck and look for the Munchlax. He laughs when he sees which one I showed him.
"HAHAHA that's actually really funny, and kinda fitting too."
I nudge my head towards Raven, and he laughs even harder. It's good to see his sense of humor is still intact despite all this chaos.
"You're right, Raven's transformation is fitting too."
There's a look of confusion on Raven's face, then as she looks at herself she sees what I mean, and laughs too. Soon everyone is laughing, except Jada. She's looking at me like shes gonna kill me. I don't doubt she would, and this stops me from laughing more.
"Listen Will, we don't have time for games! We need to get back to human form as soon as possible!"
I look at her with a twinge of guilt. "Listen, I'm not sure we can turn back huma-"
"WHAT!?!?!"
This startles everyone, even though Dylon and his parents can't understand us. Dylon quickly gets in-between myself and Jada.
"Hey now Jada, calm down. I may not understand what Will just said but I'm sure he didn't say it to anger you."
Jada looks at me with daggers in her eyes. Coming here was a mistake. I sprint for the door, and I'm outside before anyone has time to register what I'm doing. Jada is hot on my tail... guess that figure of speech is a bit more literal now.
"Oh hell no! You're coming right back here and you and Dylon are gonna fix this mess!"
This immediatly triggers me. She may have hurt me but no one demands me to do Jack shit. "JADA, MAYBE IF YOU WOULD SLOW DOWN YOU WOULD REALIZE THIS ISN'T AS BAD AS YOU THINK IT IS! I GET YOU'RE NOT HAPPY LIKE THIS, BUT DO YOU SERIOUSLY THINK THAT'S MY FIRST PRIORITY AFTER YOU DUMPED ME WITHOUT GIVING ME A CHANCE TO FIX THE PROBLEMS I DIDN'T SEE UNTIL THEN?!?!"
This stuns her and everyone else, even though Dylon and his parents can't understand a word I just said, they know it was completely out of character for me to yell like that. Jada looks at me as if I suddenly grew a second head, unable to say a word. But I don't care. I run back to my house as quick as I can, and I run to my room without saying a word to my parents or my brother, who obviously woke up while I was gone.
I burry myself in my blankets. Jada may be seeing this transformation as a problem, but I refuse to see it like that. I'm gonna look at ways at how this can be the solution. I'm gonna make some good come of this, even if it kills me.
