The ice cream haired girl spins open her umbrella and approaches the team.
Yang: Didn't they presume her dead?
Emerald: Well, she's been missing for quite a long time.
Weiss: Be ready. We don't know what kind of tricks she has up her sleeves.
She gets close enough to the point when they were about to take out their weapons. But just as they were about to do so, Neo holds out a flash drive.
Mercury: What is that?
Neo: ...
The silent girl smiles and hands it to Ruby.
Ruby: What's in this drive?
Neo: ...
Emerald: Well, how about we find out?
They all head to the apartment. When they do, Blake plugs the flash drive into her laptop and finds a bunch of files which Neo stole from Eggman's computer.
Blake: This is... How did you get this?
Neo: ...
Ruby: Is this what Eggman is really planning?
Mercury: Eggman? She got this from Dr. Robotnik?
Weiss: You're not going to believe this, but he and Cinder are working together.
Emerald: Cinder?! But why?
Mercury: Is she working for someone?
Ruby: We don't know, but she and Eggman have something big planned, that's for sure.
Blake: If that's true, then we better let Sonic and the others know about this.
Ruby, Weiss, and Yang: Right!
Emerald: Wait. Do you mean Sonic the Hedgehog? You know him?
Ruby: Yeah. We helped him beat Eggman just recently.
Mercury: That's a surprise.
Weiss: Oh, and there's something else too. It's about the grimm.
Emerald and Mercury: What?!
About a minute later, in ALO, Sonic gets a call on the Zoom app.
Sonic: Hello?
Ruby: Hey Sonic!
Sonic: Hey Ruby.
Ruby: Listen, we need you guys to come over to our apartment. We'll send you the address and the apartment number.
Sonic: Why? What's wrong?
Ruby: We'll explain everything when you arrive. Please hurry.
Sonic: Okay. Be right there.
The call ends.
Kirito: That was Ruby, right?
Mighty: Looks like they need us for something. Well, we gotta say goodbye for now, guys.
Asuna: Okay. Be careful out there, everyone.
Sonic: Yeah. Come on guys. We gotta get going.
Tails, Knuckles, Mighty, and Ray: Right!
After logging out, they head to Ruby's apartment and Tails looks at the files.
Tails: It seems that some mysterious force is trying to coordinate with people like Eggman to take over the world. And Cinder is trying to get other villains to join that army.
Sonic: Villains working alongside each other. Kind of like the Legion of Doom.
Tails: Basically.
Emerald: But why is she joining them? Did she blackmail her?
Neo hands Emerald a book.
Emerald: This is... Cinder's?
?: AHHHHHH!
Mighty: Outside!
Sonic and Ruby speed out the door and out of the building. Once they head out, they see some flying monsters approaching the direction the civilians are running to.
Sonic: What are those things?
Ruby: They're grimm!
Ruby gets her Crescent Rose ready. Once she does, the others arrive.
Knuckles: So those are the grimm?
Yang: What are they even doing here in an urban place like this?!
Weiss: We'll figure that out later! We need to take them out before anyone else gets hurt!
Everyone: Right!
Sonic jumps up in the air and uses his homing attack on four of the flying grimm. Everyone else fires weapons at the monsters. Then, one of the flying grimm approach Neo.
Neo: Hmph!
She stabs it with a needle appearing out of her umbrella.
Mercury: Oh yeah. These guys seem so much weaker than I remember.
Emerald: Definitely.
Meanwhile, back at Metropolis Zone...
Dr. Robotnik: You know who she is?
Cinder: She was an associate of a criminal named Roman Torchwick. He was killed by a grimm and I agreed to help her get back at Ruby Rose.
She looks down in shame.
Cinder: That is, until I betrayed her.
Dr. Robotnik: You betrayed your own comrade? That's just cold. Even I think it is.
Cinder: Right. Ever since Salem was defeated, she went missing without a trace.
Dr. Robotnik: For three years she went missing?
Cinder: Yes. I'm honestly not sure why.
Dr. Robotnik: Well this might cause some problems since she's caught on to our plan. We need to get those plans back ASAP.
Cinder: I'll take care of that.
Dr. Robotnik: Good luck. I'm counting on...
They hear the door get slammed open, as they see the Hard-Boiled Heavies and Metal Sonic all rusted.
Heavy King: Hey.
Dr. Robotnik: Well, you guys seemed to have been busy.
Heavy King: Don't ask.
Dr. Robotnik: Alright. Cinder. You grab those plans while I get these guys fixed up.
Cinder: Sure.
Cinder heads off. Back at Japan, all of the grimm get finished off.
Ruby: I think that's all of them.
Sonic: Good. I've checked around the city as well and there are none left. Is everybody alright?
Civilian: Yes. Thank you all so much.
Emerald: What are the grimm even doing here? I thought they all were gone.
Blake: That's what we've been trying to figure out.
?: Guys!
Oscar, Penny, and Team JNPR arrive.
Jaune: What happened? We heard there were grimm in this area!
Knuckles: We already got them taken care of. But there's something that you guys might wanna see.
Oscar: What is it?
Everyone heads back into the apartment.
Tails: I'm looking into these files and it looks like Eggman, Cinder, and a huge army are trying to travel to other worlds and coordinate with people both in this world and the other worlds to help them wage war.
Pyrrha: And Neo got all this from Green Hill Zone?
Ruby: Seems like it. I can't believe that the main computer over there survived the blast.
Nora: And Neo. Do you mind me asking, where were you all these years? Cause you were gone for a really long time.
Neo: ...
Ren: I'm sure you weren't just going underground.
Neo: ...
Ray: No comment?
Knuckles: The quiet type I guess.
Ruby: Yeah, she doesn't really talk.
Ray: Oh.
Sonic: It's weird though. First Eggman takes over South Island while me, Mighty, and Ray got stuck in the Underworld, then these grimm monsters come back, Metal Sonic gets an upgrade, and now this interdimensional war? Oh! Speaking of grimm... Tails. Can you find anything about them?
Tails: Let me see.
The two-tailed fox looks back into the files on the computer.
Tails: Well, the good news is that there seem to be a lot of files here that are about the grimm. The bad news is that they're all corrupted.
Ruby: No way!
Penny: They must have gotten corrupted when they were being copied.
Weiss: Is there a way you can restore the files.
Tails: Yeah. It's gonna take time, but I can do it. I'll take this drive to our apartment and I'll get them restored.
Sonic: Great. So, what about us?
Tails: That's actually a good question. It's not like we know where Eggman and Cinder are at right now.
Ren: Well, we'll just have to wait for the time being. In the meantime...
Ren pulls out an event flier from his pocket.
Ren: There is a fireworks festival taking place in just a few days.
Yang: Hey, that sounds like fun! We should totally go.
Blake: Better make sure you dress up in a Yukata.
Mighty: Hey, we should invite some people!
Emerald: But there's already a lot of people here.
Knuckles: Well, we have a bunch of friends you guys haven't met yet.
Ruby: He's right. So let's see... Why don't we invite Kirito and his friends?
Sonic: Great idea. It's too bad Ichika and his friends can't come, cause they're out of the city.
Weiss: Who's Ichika?
Tails: Right. You guys haven't met. Me and Sonic met him the other day. And it turns out, he's friends with lots of girls.
Weiss: Oh really now?
Sonic: Yeah.
Pyrrha: How many girls exactly?
Sonic: A lot. It's kind of a long story.
Blake: Well, anyway, who else should we invite?
Ray: Oh! I know! Let's invite Miyuki and Tatsuya!
Tails: Yeah! I'm sure they'd love to come!
Pyrrha: You can contact them from the other dimension?
Tails: Yeah. I've made a device that can let me contact them, even if we're in separate dimensions. Besides, I'm sure they wouldn't want to miss out on something like this.
Mercury: So you guys ended up traveling to another dimension and meet new friends?
Sonic: Kind of a long story there.
Yang: Hey little sis. Come here.
Ruby: What?
The blonde sister whispers to the silver-eyed girl's ears.
Yang: This is the perfect time to show off your yukata to Oscar.
Ruby: Eek!
She immediately starts blushing.
Ruby: Umm... I...
Oscar: Ruby? What's wrong?
Ruby: Uh... Nothing! Everything's fine!
Oscar: Okay?
Emerald: Ohooo... Somebody's got a thing for someone.
Pyrrha: Big surprise, isn't it?
Blake: I'm sure she'll confess her feelings. Eventually.
