~Chapter 1~

7 Years later

"Hey jiji, why is my last name Uzumaki?" Asked a little blonde haired, blue eyed boy to the Hokage, the most respected person in the village.

"Now this is a first. He usually asks about his parents. Hmm, I suppose letting him know about his clan wouldn't cause too much trouble. It will at least put his young mind at ease." Thought Hiruzen, although, he was certain he was very wrong in his assumption.

"Well Naruto, the Uzumaki clan was a powerful clan that we used to be allies with. They were extraordinarily gifted in Fuinjutsu, known to live long life's, and were known to have large chakra pools similar to the Senju clan. Unfortunately, because of their great strength, they were targeted in a joint attack during the second war." Stated Hiruzen, making sure to keep an eye on Naruto, just to see how he would handle the information.

Noticing that Naruto looked a little upset, Hiruzen decided to help lift the young boy's spirit. However, before he could even utter a single word of comfort, Naruto spoke first. "So people attacked my home and made me have to stay here?"

Hiruzen almost chucked, almost. He quickly composed himself and immediately told Naruto that the war so long ago that, if Naruto had left during the time of the invasion, he would be nearing his forties.

"So, do you finally understand, Naruto?" Asked Hiruzen hoping to see if Naruto could tell the difference between seven years and forty years.

"Yeah, I understand, jiji. Basically, we got attacked because we were too awesome!" Naruto proclaimed, instantly regained his happy-go-lucky attitude. To this statement, Hiruzen couldn't hold in his laughter anymore, as a little chuckle escaped his lips.

"Well, that is certainly one way to look at it. That's for sure." Said Hiruzen after getting over his short laughter. "Now that you know about your last name, what will you do?"

"What can I do?" We're the only words making rounds in Naruto's head. He had absolutely no idea of what he could do. According to jiji, his how was already destroyed. Just then, a new question came into his head, and he prayed that this one would produce a positive answer.

With an look of pure determination, innocence, and naivety, Naruto looked back up at his jiji.

"What about the people? Did anyone get away?" This was it, his final chance to have a home with people who might not hate him.

"Well, of course some people got away, how else would you be here, Naruto?" Said Hiruzen as he turned away from the young boy, who was now rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment.

"Now of their whereabouts, I haven't had a single clue. I haven't seen a another Uzumaki in nearly a decade." Finished Hiruzen as he over looked the village from the hokage tower.

"I find myself asking the same question. What will you do now that you have encountered an obstacle, Naruto?" Thought the Third Hokage, once again surveying the young boy who was no dead silent, staring straight down.

"Then I guess I have no choice but to make them all proud! I'll be known as the greatest Uzumaki ever, then no one will ever try attacking us ever again. Dattebayo!" Yelled Naruto before sprinting out the hokage tower.

"Now this, is something I hadn't anticipated. I thought he would've vowed to unite the rest of the Uzumaki. However, this outcome is just as favorable. Keep on this path Naruto, and you'll be a splendid shinobi." Thought Hiruzen as he continued to look out the window towards the village.

Just then, an nameless ambush operative appeared in front of the Hokage's desk. "Hokage-sama, are you sure it's wise to let him leave just like that? Wasn't he brought in here because he was caught swapping some stores entire inventory with only orange painted clothing. Shouldn't there be some repercussions?"

"Haha, it seems that it completely slipped my mind. Very well, please go inform Naruto to return everything to the store by noon. And tell him that I want everything in the order in which he found it. You are dismissed." Said Hiruzen after thinking about it for a little bit.

One Month Later

"Did you read that book on different types of seals, Naruto?" Asked Hiruzen, it has been about three weeks since he gave Naruto that book. He was just checking in to see if Naruto was motivated to complete his goal.

"Umm, yeah jiji. I got most of them but there's one I didn't understand." Naruto said with a frown on his face.

Hiruzen just stared at Naruto, making the boy squirm even more. After a tense moments(to Naruto of course), Hiruzen finally spoke, "That's quite alright, Naruto. If you had understood all of it, I would have to label you a prodigy. And if that happened, there's no telling what would happen."

"You did great Naruto, you are well on your way to completing you goal." Hiruzen said while messing with Naruto's hair."

After the reassurance from Hiruzen, Naruto cheered right up with a face-spitting smile to show for it.

"Thanks jiji!" Naruto said, finally getting Hiruzen to stop messing with your hair.

"If I may ask, which seal didn't you understand?" Hiruzen asked. He was genuinely curious about what got the little boy so stumped.

"Oh, it was something about birth prevention. I've never heard any of those words before. And the function didn't even make sense. It said something about using it five minutes after se..." Naruto explained casually until being interrupted by Hiruzen.

"That is quite enough Naruto. You will have no use for that seal anyways. You don't need to learn that seal at all." Said Hiruzen after finally regaining his bearings.

"I really should've looked through the scroll before handing it to him. I will make sure to correct this mistake next time." Thought Hiruzen.

"If you say so jiji." Said Naruto after being confused on why Hiruzen was being so weird, he'd file it away for later. "Anyways, I'll see you later jiji."

Before Naruto could fully exit the room, Hiruzen said something that shocked Naruto because of the absurdity of the statement.

"Wait Naruto, before you go, in a few days I will request that you come to my office, because there is someone who would love to meet you." Hiruzen said with a little smile grazing his face.

"Huh, why do I need to meet this person? No one ever wanted to meet me before." Naruto replied confused on what was so special about himself.

"Perhaps, you can ask them when you meet them." Hiruzen replied in a question that sounded more like a statement.

"Ok, bye jiji!" Naruto yelled finally outside of the office.

Hiruzen finally let a smile grace his face once Naruto was out of view, "It's about time, Jiraiya."

I've always thought that Hiruzen should've at least told Naruto about the Uzumaki clan. Last names are a major part of your identity. I've ask is felt that Jiraiya should've been more prevalent in his life. He was his supposed godfather after all. So I decided t have them meet a lot earlier.
