GINA

Ten minutes. It only took Ten minutes after Chiron left for Rob and his gang to come over to this place. The door was locked but I could still hear them, all their insults, their threats, and their sadistic laughter. I tried ignoring them but they started banging on the door. I knew they couldn't break the door, Chiron would immediately know who did it if he came home with his door smashed open. At that point I decided to make a run for it. There is a back entrance but to escape I needed a distraction. I opened a box I had hidden under the bed of hay Chiron prepped for me.

It was full of clay I had been making at night. I learned from Austin, one of the Athena kids, that I could use soil from the areas by the water to make clay, though I had to find out the details myself considering what happened not long after. I hadn't used my powers since then, but I was thinking maybe I could create something to scare them away.

I rolled the clay out making a long line, though not too thin. I used a bit more clay to form a triangular head then I made a few small balls to form a tail. I made a rattlesnake. It then suddenly became more detailed, while it was clearly still clay it formed eyes, a mouth, even fangs and a tongue. It even shook its tail to make the rattle noise. I fell backwards staring at it, but after it slithered over to me, I stroked its head and it let me do so.

After confirming that this snake was docile I then took out some paints Chiron gave me. I painted the snake to appear more lifelike, to the point that unless you touched it you couldn't tell that it was fake. The yelling outside got louder, probably because more kids showed up to join Rob and suck up to him. I then let the snake out the back, instructing it to go around. Then 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

I hear the most satisfying scream I heard all month. Rob is TERRIFIED of snakes, not sure why but man this paid off in spades. I then opened the door and took off into the nearby forest. I brought the box of clay with me just in case. It wasn't long till I heard Rob yelling again.

"I'M GONNA KILL YOU FOR THAT, GINA."

Luckily I think that they were far too distracted to see me run. I kept running for a long time, then I tripped as I exited the woods. I looked behind myself, nobody in sight. I was about to try to sneak my way back to Chiron's place when I saw the tree, the border that cut Camp Halfblood off from the rest of the world. Chiron wasn't here, nobody was here right now. What was stopping me from just bolting past that tree and leaving this place behind for good?

I looked down at the Camp, nobody there had noticed me yet, but I could see Rob's gang searching the area. I'm guessing he caught on that I wasn't in Chiron's house anymore. With a deep breath I ran towards the tree. I know the risks, monsters are everywhere out there, I dealt with that all my life before coming here, but maybe, just MAYBE I could reason with the monsters? Wishful thinking I know, but that thought made sense to me as I exited the campground. It's sad how the idea of trying to reason with monsters made more sense to me than trying to reason with other humans.

After reaching the other side things felt so different. I swear the sky looked darker out here, the grass looked less alive, the air didn't feel as fresh, but in the end, however fleeting it might be, I finally felt safe. I collapsed to my knees and cried my eyes out. I just sat there in the dirt crying, letting out all the pain I had been holding in all month. But then, I stopped, I flinched in fact as I felt a hand touch my shoulder.

Will

Another job well done. It was a long journey but I made it to Camp Halfblood, been here so many times, yet I never stepped inside. I kneeled down to the three kids travelling with me.

"Alright," I said, "This is where we gotta split up guys."

They all whined and got nervous so I gave them a big hug.

"Hey c'mon guys, it'll be great," I assured them, "The Aphrodite Cabin would LOVE to welcome you three to their home and they'll take good care of you here I promise."

With tears in their eyes they all ran into the camp.

"Bye Will," They all yelled out in unison, kinda. I simply waved as they ran into their new home. Those poor kids, their Dad was killed by a monster, based on what the kids said I think it was a Harpy. They were left as orphans in a small town called Ottawa in Kansas, which is kind of easy for the Camp staff to miss. There are so many kids that will be left waiting for staff to get them to safety, so I've taken it upon myself to seek these kids out.

Now this isn't easy given my lack of resources, but I have a couple advantages, one is my Godly parent, Hermes. From him I gained a great sense of direction. Like if I want to go anywhere my mind is like a better version of Google Maps, so this power guides me to kids in need as well as back to either Camp Halfblood or Camp Jupiter.

I began to set up my tent outside the camp. It's been a long journey. Yeah I could go inside the camp, but the Hermes Cabin is so crowded, and they'll likely not let me leave much. But before I set my tent up I heard sobbing nearby. I looked towards the sound and I saw a young girl. With a sigh I walked over and patted her on the back.

She flinched and slid away from me on her back, she looked absolutely terrified of me. I simply put my hands up and tried to reassure her.

"Hey it's OK, I was just seeing if you were alright."

The girl didn't respond. She simply got up and ran away from me. My gut said that something was VERY wrong here. But chasing her down was DEFINITELY not going to help. I simply set up my tent, but I couldn't shake the feeling something was wrong. I decided to go check on her. Using my powers I walked over to where she was, and I saw her on the ground holding her ankle.

I didn't bother talking to her, I walked over and took out my first aid kit. I wrapped her foot up. She tried to pull away for a moment but then she saw what I was doing. She simply allowed me to wrap her foot up in a bandage.

"I'm Will by the way, I have a Tent over there, if you want you can sleep in there tonight, it's getting dark out after all."

She didn't speak a word to me, she simply nodded. I offered to help her but she tried to talk on her own, despite her foot being injured. After a few steps she conceded and I helped her into the tent. I zipped it up and I laid down outside. Not ideal but at least it was a clear sky that night. I could see the stars so clearly. I could see the constellation Cancer, and Hydra too. Watching the stars for a while, trying to find any constellations I could, I simply fell asleep in the grass.
